अय्यूब 22

1 तब तेमानवासी एलिफाज़ ने प्रत्युत्तर में कहा:

And Eliphaz the Temanite answereth and saith: —

2 “क्या कोई बलवान पुरुष परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी हो सकता है? अथवा क्या कोई बुद्धिमान स्वयं का कल्याण कर सकता है?

To God is a man profitable, Because a wise man to himself is profitable?

3 क्या तुम्हारी खराई सर्वशक्तिमान के लिए आनंद है? अथवा क्या तुम्हारा त्रुटिहीन चालचलन लाभकारी होता है?

Is it a delight to the Mighty One That thou art righteous? is it gain, That thou makest perfect thy ways?

4 “क्या तुम्हारे द्वारा दिया गया सम्मान तुम्हें उनके सामने स्वीकार्य बना देता है, कि वह तुम्हारे विरुद्ध न्याय करने लगते हैं?

Because of thy reverence Doth He reason [with] thee? He entereth with thee into judgment:

5 क्या तुम्हारी बुराई बहुत नहीं कही जा सकती? क्या तुम्हारे पाप का अंत नहीं?

Is not thy wickedness abundant? And there is no end to thine iniquities.

6 क्यों तुमने अकारण अपने भाइयों का बंधक रख लिया है, तथा मनुष्यों को विवस्त्र कर छोड़ा है?

For thou takest a pledge of thy brother for nought, And the garments of the naked Thou dost strip off.

7 थके मांदे से तुमने पेय जल के लिए तक न पूछा, भूखे से तुमने भोजन छिपा रखा है.

Thou causest not the weary to drink water, And from the hungry thou withholdest bread.

8 किंतु पृथ्वी पर बलवानों का अधिकार है, इसके निवासी सम्मान्य व्यक्ति हैं.

As to the man of arm — he hath the earth, And the accepted of face — he dwelleth in it.

9 तुमने विधवाओं को निराश लौटा दिया है पितृहीनों का बल कुचल दिया गया है.

Widows thou hast sent away empty, And the arms of the fatherless are bruised.

10 यही कारण है कि तुम्हारे चारों ओर फंदे फैले हैं, आतंक ने तुम्हें भयभीत कर रखा है,

Therefore round about thee [are] snares, And trouble thee doth fear suddenly.

11 संभवतः यह अंधकार है कि तुम दृष्टिहीन हो जाओ, एक बड़ी जल राशि में तुम जलमग्न हो चुके हो.

Or darkness — thou dost not see, And abundance of waters doth cover thee.

12 “क्या परमेश्वर स्वर्ग में विराजमान नहीं हैं? दूर के तारों पर दृष्टि डालो. कितनी ऊंचाई पर हैं वे!

Is not God high [in] heaven? And see the summit of the stars, That they are high.

13 तुम पूछ रहे हो, ‘क्या-क्या मालूम है परमेश्वर को?’ क्या घोर अंधकार में भी उन्हें स्थिति बोध हो सकता है?

And thou hast said, 'What — hath God known? Through thickness doth He judge?

14 मेघ उनके लिए छिपने का साधन हो जाते हैं, तब वह देख सकते हैं; वह तो नभोमण्डल में चलते फिरते हैं.

Thick clouds [are] a secret place to Him, And He doth not see;' And the circle of the heavens He walketh habitually,

15 क्या तुम उस प्राचीन मार्ग पर चलते रहोगे, जो दुर्वृत्तों का मार्ग हुआ करता था?

The path of the age dost thou observe, That men of iniquity have trodden?

16 जिन्हें समय से पूर्व ही उठा लिया गया, जिनकी तो नींव ही नदी अपने प्रवाह में बहा ले गई?

Who have been cut down unexpectedly, A flood is poured out on their foundation.

17 वे परमेश्वर से आग्रह करते, ‘हमसे दूर चले जाइए!’ तथा यह भी ‘सर्वशक्तिमान उनका क्या बिगाड़ लेगा?’

Those saying to God, 'Turn aside from us,' And what doth the Mighty One to them?

18 फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उनके घरों को उत्तम वस्तुओं से भर रखा है, किंतु उन दुर्वृत्तों की युक्ति मेरी समझ से परे है.

And he hath filled their houses [with] good: (And the counsel of the wicked Hath been far from me.)

19 यह देख धार्मिक उल्‍लसित हो रहे हैं तथा वे; जो निर्दोष हैं, उनका उपहास कर रहे हैं.

See do the righteous and they rejoice, And the innocent mocketh at them,

20 उनका नारा है, ‘यह सत्य है कि हमारे शत्रु मिटा दिए गए हैं, उनकी समृद्धि को अग्नि भस्म कर चुकी है.’

'Surely our substance hath not been cut off, And their excellency hath fire consumed.'

21 “अब भी समर्पण करके परमेश्वर से मेल कर लो; तब तो तुम्हारे कल्याण की संभावना है.

Acquaint thyself, I pray thee, with Him, And be at peace, Thereby thine increase [is] good.

22 कृपया उनसे शिक्षा ग्रहण कर लो. उनके शब्दों को मन में रख लो.

Receive, I pray thee, from His mouth a law, And set His sayings in thy heart.

23 यदि तुम सर्वशक्तिमान की ओर मुड़कर समीप हो जाओ, तुम पहले की तरह हो जाओगे: यदि तुम अपने घर में से बुराई को दूर कर दोगे,

If thou dost return unto the Mighty Thou art built up, Thou puttest iniquity far from thy tents.

24 यदि तुम अपने स्वर्ण को भूमि में दबा दोगे, उस स्वर्ण को, जो ओफीर से लाया गया है, उसे नदियों के पत्थरों के मध्य छिपा दोगे,

So as to set on the dust a defence, And on a rock of the valleys a covering.

25 तब सर्वशक्तिमान स्वयं तुम्हारे लिए स्वर्ण हो जाएंगे हां, उत्कृष्ट चांदी.

And the Mighty hath been thy defence, And silver [is] strength to thee.

26 तुम परमेश्वर की ओर दृष्टि करोगे, तब सर्वशक्तिमान तुम्हारे परमानंद हो जाएंगे.

For then on the Mighty thou delightest thyself, And dost lift up unto God thy face,

27 जब तुम उनसे प्रार्थना करोगे, वह तुम्हारी सुन लेंगे, इसके अतिरिक्त तुम अपनी मन्‍नतें भी पूर्ण करोगे.

Thou dost make supplication unto Him, And He doth hear thee, And thy vows thou completest.

28 तुम किसी विषय की कामना करोगे और वह तुम्हारे लिए सफल हो जाएगा, इसके अतिरिक्त तुम्हारा रास्ता भी प्रकाशित हो जाएगा.

And thou decreest a saying, And it is established to thee, And on thy ways hath light shone.

29 उस स्थिति में जब तुम पूर्णतः हताश हो जाओगे, तुम्हारी बातें तुम्हारा ‘आत्मविश्वास प्रकट करेंगी!’ परमेश्वर विनीत व्यक्ति को रक्षा प्रदान करते हैं.

For they have made low, And thou sayest, 'Lift up.' And the bowed down of eyes he saveth.

30 निर्दोष को परमेश्वर सुरक्षा प्रदान करते हैं, वह निर्दोष तुम्हारे ही शुद्ध कामों के कारण छुड़ाया जाएगा.”

He delivereth the not innocent, Yea, he hath been delivered By the cleanness of thy hands.
