अय्यूब 21
1 तब अय्योब ने उत्तर दिया:
Then responded Job, and said: —
2 “अब ध्यान से मेरी बात सुन लो और इससे तुम्हें सांत्वना प्राप्त हो.
Hear ye patiently my words, and let this be your consolation:
3 मेरे उद्गार पूर्ण होने तक धैर्य रखना, बाद में तुम मेरा उपहास कर सकते हो.
Suffer me, that, I, may speak, and, after I have spoken, thou canst mock!
4 “मेरी स्थिति यह है कि मेरी शिकायत किसी मनुष्य से नहीं है, तब क्या मेरी अधीरता असंगत है?
Did, I, unto man, make my complaint? Wherefore, then, should my spirit not be impatient?
5 मेरी स्थिति पर ध्यान दो तथा इस पर चकित भी हो जाओ; आश्चर्यचकित होकर अपने मुख पर हाथ रख लो.
Turn round to me, and be astonished, and lay hand on mouth!
6 उसकी स्मृति मुझे डरा देती है; तथा मेरी देह आतंक में समा जाती है.
When I call to mind, then am I dismayed, and there seizeth my flesh a shuddering: —
7 क्यों दुर्वृत्त दीर्घायु प्राप्त करते जाते हैं? वे उन्नति करते जाते एवं सशक्त हो जाते हैं.
Wherefore do, lawless men, live, advance in years, even wax mighty in power?
8 इतना ही नहीं उनके तो वंश भी, उनके जीवनकाल में समृद्ध होते जाते हैं.
Their seed, is established in their sight, along with them, yea their offspring, before their eyes;
9 उनके घरों पर आतंक नहीं होता; उन पर परमेश्वर का दंड भी नहीं होता.
Their houses, are at peace, without dread, neither is, the rod of GOD, upon them;
10 उसका सांड़ बिना किसी बाधा के गाभिन करता है; उसकी गाय बच्चे को जन्म देती है, तथा कभी उसका गर्भपात नहीं होता.
His bull, covereth, and causeth not aversion, His cow safely calveth, and casteth not her young;
11 उनके बालक संख्या में झुंड समान होते हैं; तथा खेलते रहते हैं.
They send forth—like a flock—their young ones, and, their children, skip about for joy;
12 वे खंजरी एवं किन्नोर की संगत पर गायन करते हैं; बांसुरी का स्वर उन्हें आनंदित कर देता है.
They rejoice aloud as [with] timbrel and lyre, and make merry to the sound of the pipe;
13 उनके जीवन के दिन तो समृद्धि में ही पूर्ण होते हैं, तब वे एकाएक अधोलोक में प्रवेश कर जाते हैं. (Sheol h7585)
They complete, in prosperity, their days, and, in a moment to hades, they sink down. (Sheol h7585)
14 वे तो परमेश्वर को आदेश दे बैठते हैं, ‘दूर हो जाइए मुझसे!’ कोई रुचि नहीं है हमें आपकी नीतियों में.
Yet they said unto GOD, Depart from us, and, In the knowledge of thy ways, find we no pleasure.
15 कौन है यह सर्वशक्तिमान, कि हम उनकी सेवा करें? क्या मिलेगा, हमें यदि हम उनसे आग्रह करेंगे?
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? Or what shall we profit, that we should urge him?
16 तुम्हीं देख लो, उनकी समृद्धि उनके हाथ में नहीं है, दुर्वृत्तों की परामर्श मुझे स्वीकार्य नहीं है.
Lo! not in their own hand, is their welfare, The counsel of lawless men, is far from me!
17 “क्या कभी ऐसा हुआ है कि दुष्टों का दीपक बुझा हो? अथवा उन पर विपत्ति का पर्वत टूट पड़ा हो, क्या कभी परमेश्वर ने अपने कोप में उन पर नाश प्रभावी किया है?
How oft, the lamp of the lawless, goeth out, and their calamity, cometh upon them, Sorrows, apportioneth he in his anger;
18 क्या दुर्वृत्त वायु प्रवाह में भूसी-समान हैं, उस भूसी-समान जो तूफान में विलीन हो जाता है?
They become as straw before the wind, and as chaff, which the storm stealeth away.
19 तुम दावा करते हो, ‘परमेश्वर किसी भी व्यक्ति के पाप को उसकी संतान के लिए जमा कर रखते हैं.’ तो उपयुक्त हैं कि वह इसका दंड प्रभावी कर दें, कि उसे स्थिति बोध हो जाए.
Shall, GOD, reserve, for his children, his sorrow? Let him recompense him so that he may know it;
20 उत्तम होगा कि वह स्वयं अपने नाश को देख ले; वह स्वयं सर्वशक्तिमान के कोप का पान कर ले.
His own eyes, shall see his misfortune, and, the wrath of the Almighty, shall he drink.
21 क्योंकि जब उसकी आयु के वर्ष समाप्त कर दिए गए हैं तो वह अपनी गृहस्थी की चिंता कैसे कर सकता है?
For what shall be his pleasure in his house after him, when, the number of his months, is cut in twain?
22 “क्या यह संभव है कि कोई परमेश्वर को ज्ञान दे, वह, जो परलोक के प्राणियों का न्याय करते हैं?
Is it, to GOD, one can teach knowledge, seeing that, he, shall judge, them who are on high?
23 पूर्णतः सशक्त व्यक्ति का भी देहावसान हो जाता है, उसका, जो निश्चिंत एवं संतुष्ट था.
This, man dieth, in the very perfection of his prosperity, wholly tranquil and secure;
24 जिसकी देह पर चर्बी थी तथा हड्डियों में मज्जा भी था.
His veins, are filled with nourishment, and, the marrow of his bones, is fresh;
25 जबकि अन्य व्यक्ति की मृत्यु कड़वाहट में होती है, जिसने जीवन में कुछ भी सुख प्राप्त नहीं किया.
Whereas, this other man, dieth, in bitterness of soul, and hath never tasted good fortune:
26 दोनों धूल में जा मिलते हैं, और कीड़े उन्हें ढांक लेते हैं.
Together, in the dust, they lie down, and, the worm, spreadeth a covering over them.
27 “यह समझ लो, मैं तुम्हारे विचारों से अवगत हूं, उन योजनाओं से भी, जिनके द्वारा तुम मुझे छलते रहते हो.
Lo! I know your plans, and the devices, wherewith ye would do me violence!
28 तुम्हारे मन में प्रश्न उठ रहा है, ‘कहां है उस कुलीन व्यक्ति का घर, कहां है वह तंबू, जहां दुर्वृत्त निवास करते हैं?’
For ye say, Where is the house of the noble-minded? And where the dwelling-tent of the lawless?
29 क्या तुमने कभी अनुभवी यात्रियों से प्रश्न किया है? क्या उनके साक्ष्य से तुम परिचित हो?
Have ye not asked the passers-by in the way? And, their signs, can ye not recognise?
30 क्योंकि दुर्वृत्त तो प्रलय के लिए हैं, वे कोप-दिवस पर बंदी बना लिए जाएंगे.
That, to the day of calamity, is the wicked reserved, to the day of indignant visitation, are they led.
31 कौन उसे उसके कृत्यों का स्मरण दिलाएगा? कौन उसे उसके कृत्यों का प्रतिफल देगा?
Who can declare—to his face—his way? And, what, he, hath done, who shall recompense to him?
32 जब उसकी मृत्यु पर उसे दफन किया जाएगा, लोग उसकी कब्र पर पहरेदार रखेंगे.
Yet, he, to the graves, is borne, and, over the tomb, one keepeth watch;
33 घाटी की मिट्टी उसे मीठी लगती है; सभी उसका अनुगमन करेंगे, जबकि असंख्य तो वे हैं, जो उसकी यात्रा में होंगे.
Pleasant to him are the mounds of the torrent-bed, —and, after him, doth every man march, as, before him, there were without number.
34 “तुम्हारे निरर्थक वचन मुझे सांत्वना कैसे देंगे? क्योंकि तुम्हारे प्रत्युत्तर झूठी बातों से भरे हैं!”
How then should ye comfort me with vanity, since, as for your replies, there lurketh, [in them] treachery?
