अय्यूब 16
1 अय्योब ने उत्तर दिया:
Then responded Job, and said: —
2 “मैं ऐसे अनेक विचार सुन चुका हूं; तुम तीनों ही निकम्मे दिलासा देनेवाले हो!
I have heard many such things, Wearisome comforters, are ye all!
3 क्या इन खोखले उद्गारों का कोई अंत नहीं है? अथवा किस पीड़ा ने तुमसे ये उत्तर दिलवाए हैं?
Is there to be an end to windy words? Or what so strongly exciteth thee, that thou must respond?
4 तुम्हारी शैली में मैं भी वार्तालाप कर सकता हूं, यदि मैं आज तुम्हारी स्थिति में होता; मैं तो तुम्हारे सम्मान में काव्य रचना कर देता और अपना सिर भी हिलाता रहता.
I also, like you, could speak, —If your soul were in the place of my soul, I could string together words against you, and could therewith shake over you my head.
5 मैं अपने शब्दों के द्वारा तुममें साहस बढ़ा सकता हूं; तथा मेरे विचारों की सांत्वना तुम्हारी वेदना कम करती है.
I could make you determined, by my mouth, and then my lip-solace should restrain you.
6 “यदि मैं कुछ कह भी दूं, तब भी मेरी वेदना कम न होगी; यदि मैं चुप रहूं, इससे भी मुझे कोई लाभ न होगा.
Though I do speak, unassuaged is my stinging pain, —And, if I forbear, of what am I relieved?
7 किंतु परमेश्वर ने मुझे थका दिया है; आपने मेरे मित्र-मण्डल को ही उजाड़ दिया है.
But, now, hath he wearied me, thou hast destroyed all my family;
8 आपने मुझे संकुचित कर दिया है, यह मेरा साक्षी हो गया है; मेरा दुबलापन मेरे विरुद्ध प्रमाणित हो रहा है, मेरा मुख मेरा विरोध कर रहा है.
And, having captured me, it hath served, as a witness; and so my wasting away hath risen up against me, in my face, it answereth.
9 परमेश्वर के कोप ने मुझे फाड़ रखा है जैसे किसी पशु को फाड़ा जाता है, वह मुझ पर दांत पीसते रहे; मेरे शत्रु मुझ पर कोप करते रहते हैं.
His anger, hath torn and persecuted me, He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth, Mine adversary, hath sharpened his eyes for me.
10 मजाक करते हुए वे मेरे सामने अपना मुख खोलते हैं; घृणा के आवेग में उन्होंने मेरे कपोलों पर प्रहार भी किया है. वे सब मेरे विरोध में एकजुट हो गए हैं.
They have gaped upon me with their mouth, With reproach, have they smitten my cheek, Together, against me, have they closed their ranks.
11 परमेश्वर ने मुझे अधर्मियों के वश में कर दिया है तथा वह मुझे एक से दूसरे के हाथ में सौंपते हैं.
GOD doth abandon me to him that is perverse, and, into the hands of the lawless, he throweth me headlong.
12 मैं तो निश्चिंत हो चुका था, किंतु परमेश्वर ने मुझे चूर-चूर कर दिया; उन्होंने मुझे गर्दन से पकड़कर इस रीति से झंझोड़ा, कि मैं चूर-चूर हो बिखर गया; उन्होंने तो मुझे निशाना भी बना दिया है.
At ease, was I when he shattered me, Yea he seized me by my neck, and dashed me in pieces, then set me up for himself as a mark:
13 उनके बाणों से मैं चारों ओर से घिर चुका हूं. बुरी तरह से उन्होंने मेरे गुर्दे काटकर घायल कर दिए हैं. उन्होंने मेरा पित्त भूमि पर बिखरा दिया.
His archers came round against me, He clave asunder my reins, and spared not, He poured out, on the earth, my gall:
14 वह बार-बार मुझ पर आक्रमण करते रहते हैं; वह एक योद्धा समान मुझ पर झपटते हैं.
He made a breach in me, breach upon breach, He ran upon me, like a mighty man.
15 “मैंने तो अपनी देह पर टाट रखी है तथा अपना सिर धूल में ठूंस दिया है.
Sackcloth, sewed I on my skin, and rolled—in the dust—my horn:
16 रोते-रोते मेरा चेहरा लाल हो चुका है, मेरी पलकों पर विषाद छा गई है.
My face, is reddened from weeping, and, upon mine eyelashes, is the death-shade: —
17 जबकि न तो मेरे हाथों ने कोई हिंसा की है और न मेरी प्रार्थना में कोई स्वार्थ शामिल था.
Though no violence was in my hands, and, my prayer, was pure.
18 “पृथ्वी, मेरे रक्त पर आवरण न डालना; तथा मेरी दोहाई को विश्रान्ति न लेने देना.
O earth! do not cover my blood, and let there be no place for mine outcry.
19 ध्यान दो, अब भी मेरा साक्षी स्वर्ग में है; मेरा गवाह सर्वोच्च है.
Even now, lo! in the heavens, is my witness,
20 मेरे मित्र ही मेरे विरोधी हो गए हैं. मेरा आंसू बहाना तो परमेश्वर के सामने है.
And, he that voucheth for me is on high. My friends are, they who scorn me, Unto GOD, hath mine eye shed tears: —
21 उपयुक्त होता कि मनुष्य परमेश्वर से उसी स्तर पर आग्रह कर सकता, जिस प्रकार कोई व्यक्ति अपने पड़ोसी से.
That one might plead, for a man, with GOD, —Even a son of man, for his friend!
22 “क्योंकि जब कुछ वर्ष बीत जायेंगे, तब मैं वहां पहुंच जाऊंगा, जहां से कोई लौटकर नहीं आता.
When, a few years, come, then, by a path by which I shall not return, shall I depart.
