यिर्मयाह 8

1 “‘याहवेह की यह घोषणा है, उस समय, वे यहूदिया के राजाओं, उच्च अधिकारियों, पुरोहितों, भविष्यवक्ताओं तथा येरूशलेम वासियों की अस्थियां उनकी कब्रों में से निकालकर लाएंगे.

“At that time,” declares the LORD, “the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of the officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.

2 वे इन अस्थियों को सूर्य, चंद्रमा, आकाश के तारों को समर्पित कर देंगे, जिनसे उन्होंने प्रेम किया, जिनकी उन्होंने उपासना की, जिनका उन्होंने अनुसरण किया, जिनकी इच्छा इन्होंने ज्ञात करने का उपक्रम किया, जिनकी इन्होंने वंदना की. इन अस्थियों को वे न एकत्र करेंगे और न इन्हें गाड़ देंगे, वे भूमि पर विष्ठा सदृश पड़ी रहेंगी.

They will be exposed to the sun and moon, and to all the host of heaven which they have loved, served, followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones will not be gathered up or buried, but will become like dung lying on the ground.

3 इस अधर्मी परिवार के लोगों द्वारा जीवन की अपेक्षा मृत्यु को ही अधिक पसंद किया जाएगा. यह स्थिति उस हर एक स्थान के लोगों की होगी, जिन्हें मैंने इन स्थानों पर खदेड़ा है, यह सेनाओं के याहवेह की वाणी है.’

And wherever I have banished them, the remnant of this evil family will choose death over life,” declares the LORD of Hosts.

4 “तुम्हें उनसे यह कहना होगा, ‘यह याहवेह का कहना है: “‘क्या मनुष्य गिरते और फिर उठ खड़े नहीं होते? क्या कोई पूर्व स्थिति को परित्याग कर प्रायश्चित नहीं करता?

So you are to tell them this is what the LORD says: “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not return?

5 तो येरूशलेम, क्या कारण है कि ये लोग मुंह मोड़कर चले गये? उन्होंने छल को दृढतापूर्वक जकड़ रखा है; वे लौटना तो चाहते ही नहीं.

Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.

6 मैंने सुना तथा सुनकर इस पर ध्यान दिया है, उनका वचन ठीक नहीं है. एक भी व्यक्ति ने बुराई का परित्याग कर प्रायश्चित नहीं किया है, उनका तर्क है, “मैंने किया ही क्या है?” हर एक ने अपना अपना मार्ग लिया है जैसे घोड़ा रणभूमि में द्रुत गति से दौड़ता हुआ जा उतरता है.

I have listened and heard; they do not speak what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, asking, ‘What have I done?’ Everyone has pursued his own course like a horse charging into battle.

7 आकाश में उड़ता हुआ सारस अपनी ऋतु को पहचानता है, यही सत्य है कपोत, अबाबील तथा सारिका के विषय में ये सभी अपने आने के समय का ध्यान रखते हैं. किंतु मेरे अपने लोगों को मुझ याहवेह के नियमों का ज्ञान ही नहीं है.

Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons. The turtledove, the swift, and the thrush keep their time of migration, but My people do not know the requirements of the LORD.

8 “‘तुम यह दावा कैसे कर सकते हो, “हम ज्ञानवान हैं, हम याहवेह के विधान को उत्तम रीति से जानते हैं,” ध्यान दो शास्त्रियों की झूठी लेखनी ने विधान को ही झूठा स्वरूप दे दिया है.

How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the Law of the LORD is with us,’ when in fact the lying pen of the scribes has produced a deception?

9 तुम्हारे बुद्धिमानों को लज्जित कर दिया गया है; वे विस्मित हो चुके हैं तथा उन्हें पकड़ लिया गया है. ध्यान दो उन्होंने याहवेह के संदेश को ठुकरा दिया है, अब उनकी बुद्धिमत्ता के विषय में क्या कहा जाएगा?

The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom do they really have?

10 इसलिये मैं अब उनकी पत्नियां अन्यों को दे दूंगा अब उनके खेतों पर स्वामित्व किसी अन्य का हो जाएगा. क्योंकि उनमें छोटे से लेकर बड़े तक, हर एक लाभ के लिए लोभी है; यहां तक कि भविष्यद्वक्ता से लेकर पुरोहित तक भी, हर एक अपने व्यवहार में झूठे हैं.

Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. For from the least of them to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice deceit.

11 उन्होंने मेरी प्रजा की पुत्री के घावों को मात्र गलत उपचार किया है. वे दावा करते रहे, “शांति है, शांति है,” किंतु शांति वहां थी ही नहीं.

They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.

12 क्या अपने घृणास्पद कार्य के लिए उनमें थोड़ी भी लज्जा देखी गई? निश्चयतः थोड़ी भी नहीं; उन्हें तो लज्जा में गिर जाना आता ही नहीं. तब उनकी नियति वही होगी जो समावेश किए जा रहे व्यक्तियों की नियति है; उन्हें जब दंड दिया जाएगा, घोर होगा उनका पतन, यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

Are they ashamed of the abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they will collapse, says the LORD.

13 “‘मैं निश्चयतः उन्हें झपटकर ले उड़ूंगा, यह याहवेह की वाणी है. द्राक्षालता में द्राक्षा न होंगे. अंजीर वृक्ष में अंजीर न होंगे, पत्तियां मुरझा चुकी होंगी. जो कुछ मैंने उन्हें दिया है वह सब निकल जाएगा.’”

I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the tree, and even the leaf will wither. Whatever I have given them will be lost to them.”

14 हम चुपचाप क्यों बैठे हैं? एकत्र हो जाओ! और हम गढ़ नगरों को चलें तथा हम वहीं युद्ध करते हुए वीरगति को प्राप्‍त हों! यह याहवेह हमारे परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित दंड है उन्हीं ने हमें विष से भरा पेय जल दिया है, क्योंकि हमने याहवेह के विरुद्ध पाप किया है.

Why are we just sitting here? Gather together, let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has doomed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

15 हम शांति की प्रतीक्षा करते रहें किंतु कल्याण के अनुरूप कुछ न मिला, हम शांति की पुनःस्थापना की प्रतीक्षा करते रहे, किंतु हमें प्राप्‍त हुआ आतंक.

We hoped for peace, but no good has come, for a time of healing, but there was only terror.

16 दान प्रदेश में उनके घोड़ों की फुनफुनाहट सुनाई पड़ रही है; उनके घोड़ों की हिनहिनाहट से सारे क्षेत्र कांप उठे हैं. क्योंकि वे आते हैं और सारे देश को जो कुछ इसमें है, उसे सारे नगर एवं उसके निवासियों को नष्ट कर जाते हैं.

The snorting of enemy horses is heard from Dan. At the sound of the neighing of mighty steeds, the whole land quakes. They come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who dwell in it.

17 “यह देखना कि, मैं तुम्हारे मध्य नाग छोड़ रहा हूं, वे सर्प जिन पर मंत्र नहीं किया जा सकता, वे तुम्हें डसेंगे,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

“For behold, I will send snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you,”

18 मेरा शोक असाध्य है, मेरा हृदय डूब चुका है.

My sorrow is beyond healing; my heart is faint within me.

19 यहां देखो ध्यान से सुनो, दूर देश से आ रही मेरी प्रजा की पुत्री की विलाप ध्वनि “क्या याहवेह ज़ियोन में नहीं हैं? क्या ज़ियोन का राजा उनके मध्य नहीं है?” “क्यों उन्होंने मुझे क्रोधित किया अपनी खोदी हुई प्रतिमाओं द्वारा, विजातीय प्रतिमाओं द्वारा?”

Listen to the cry of the daughter of my people from a land far away: “Is the LORD no longer in Zion? Is her King no longer there?” “Why have they provoked Me to anger with their carved images, with their worthless foreign idols?”

20 “कटनी काल समाप्‍त हो चुका, ग्रीष्मऋतु भी जा चुकी, फिर भी हमें उद्धार प्राप्‍त नहीं हुआ है.”

“The harvest has passed, the summer has ended, but we have not been saved.”

21 अपने लोगों की पुत्री की दुःखित अवस्था ने मुझे दुःखित कर रखा है; मैं शोक से अचंभित हूं, और निराशा में मैं डूब चुका हूं.

For the brokenness of the daughter of my people I am crushed. I mourn; horror has gripped me.

22 क्या गिलआद में कोई भी औषधि नहीं? क्या वहां कोई वैद्य भी नहीं? तब क्या कारण है कि मेरे लोगों की पुत्री रोगमुक्त नहीं हो पाई है?

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?
