यिर्मयाह 7

1 वह संदेश जो याहवेह द्वारा येरेमियाह के लिए प्रगट किया गया:

The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

2 “याहवेह के भवन के द्वार पर खड़े हो जाओ और वहां यह संदेश घोषित करो: “‘संपूर्ण यहूदिया याहवेह का यह संदेश सुनो, तुम जो याहवेह की आराधना करने इस द्वार से प्रवेश किया करते हो.

“Stand at the gate of Yahweh's house and proclaim this word! Say, 'Hear the word of Yahweh, all you of Judah, you who enter these gates to worship Yahweh.

3 इस्राएल के परमेश्वर, स्वर्गीय याहवेह का आदेश यह है: अपने आचार-व्यवहार तथा अपने कार्यों की सुधारना करो, तब मैं तुम्हें इस स्थान पर निवास करने दूंगा.

Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: Make your ways and practices good, and I will let you continue to live in this place.

4 इस झूठे आश्वासन के धोखे में न रहना, “यह तो याहवेह का मंदिर है, याहवेह का मंदिर है, याहवेह का मंदिर है!”

Do not entrust yourself to deceitful words and say, “Temple of Yahweh! Temple of Yahweh! Temple of Yahweh!”

5 यदि तुम वास्तव में अपने आचारों को तथा कार्यों को सुधारोगे, यदि तुम एक दूसरे के साथ न्याय में व्यवहार करोगे,

For if you actually make your ways and practices good; if you completely execute justice between a man and his neighbor—

6 यदि तुम परदेशी, पितृहीन तथा विधवा पर अत्याचार न करोगे, इस स्थान पर निःसहायक का रक्तपात न करोगे और परकीय देवताओं का अनुसरण न करोगे, जो तुम्हारे अपने ही विनाश का कारण है,

if you do not exploit the one staying in the land, the orphan, or the widow and do not pour out innocent blood in this place, and do not walk after other gods to your own harm—

7 तब मैं तुम्हें इस स्थान पर निवास करने दूंगा, इस देश में, जो मैंने तुम्हारे पूर्वजों को सदा-सर्वदा के लिए प्रदान किया है.

then I will let you stay in this place, in the land that I gave to your ancestors from ancient times and forever.

8 इस विषय पर ध्यान दो, कि तुम निरर्थक ही झूठे आश्वासनों के भरोसे पर बैठे हुए हो.

Behold! You are trusting in deceitful words that do not help you.

9 “‘क्या तुम चोरी, हत्या, व्यभिचार करके ओर झूठी साक्ष्य देकर, बाल को बलि अर्पित करके तथा उन परकीय देवताओं का अनुसरण करने के बाद जिन्हें तुम जानते ही नहीं,

Do you steal, kill, and commit adultery? Do you swear deceitfully and offer incense to Baal and walk after other gods whom you have not known?

10 इस भवन में, जो मेरे नाम से प्रख्यात है, आकर मेरे समक्ष इसलिये खड़े होकर यह कहते, “अब हम सुरक्षित हैं”—कि तुम इन घृणित कार्यों में स्थिर बने रह सको?

Then do you come and stand before me in this house that is called by my name and say, “We are saved,” so you can do all of these abominations?

11 क्या तुम्हारी दृष्टि में यह भवन, जो मेरे नाम से प्रख्यात है, डाकुओं की गुफा बन गया है? सुनो, मैंने, हां, मैंने सब देखा है! यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

Is this house, which carries my name, a den of bandits in your eyes? But behold, I have seen it—this is Yahweh's declaration.'

12 “‘किंतु अब तुम शीलो जाओ जो इसके पूर्व मेरी आराधना के लिए निर्धारित स्थल था, और देखो कि मैंने अपनी प्रजा इस्राएल की बुराई के कारण उसकी स्थिति कैसी बना दी है.

'So go to my place that was in Shiloh, where I allowed my name to stay there in the beginning, and look at what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

13 और अब इसलिये कि तुमने ये सारे कुकृत्य किए हैं, यह याहवेह की वाणी है, मैंने तुमसे तुरंत उठकर बात की, किंतु तुमने मेरी ओर ध्यान ही न दिया; मैंने तुम्हारा आह्वान भी किया, किंतु तुमने प्रत्युत्तर ही न दिया.

So now, on account of your doing all of these practices—this is Yahweh's declaration—I spoke to you time and time again, but you did not listen. I summoned you, but you did not answer.

14 इसलिये मैं उस भवन के साथ जो मेरे नाम से प्रख्यात है, जिस पर तुमने अपनी आस्था रखी है तथा जो स्थान मैंने तुम्हें तथा तुम्हारे पूर्वजों को प्रदान किया है, वही करूंगा जो मैंने शीलो के साथ किया था.

Therefore, what I did to Shiloh, I will also do to this house that is called by my name, the house in which you have trusted, this place that I gave to you and your ancestors.

15 मैं तुम्हें अपनी दृष्टि से दूर कर दूंगा, जैसा मैंने तुम्हारे भाइयों को अपनी दृष्टि से दूर कर दिया है, अर्थात् एफ्राईम के सारे वंशजों को.’

For I will send you out from before me just as I had sent out all your brothers, all the descendants of Ephraim.'

16 “जहां तक तुम्हारा प्रश्न है तुम इन लोगों के लिए प्रार्थना न करो; न उनके लिए गिड़गिड़ाने दो, न प्रार्थना में मुझसे उनकी मध्यस्थता ही करो, क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारी नहीं सुनूंगा.

As for you, Jeremiah, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up a lamenting wail or say a prayer on their behalf, and do not petition me, for I will not listen to you.

17 क्या तुम्हें यह नहीं दिख रहा कि वे यहूदिया के नगरों में तथा येरूशलेम की गलियों में क्या-क्या कर रहे हैं?

Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

18 बालक लकड़ियां एकत्र करते हैं और पितागण आग जलाते हैं, स्त्रियां आटा गूंधती हैं कि वे स्वर्ग की रानी के लिए मिष्ठान्‍न तैयार करें. वे परकीय देवताओं को पेय बलि भी अर्पित करते हैं कि वे मेरे कोप को उकसाएं.

The children are gathering wood and the fathers kindling the fire! The women are kneading dough to make cakes for the queen of the heavens and pour out drink offerings for other gods so that they will provoke me.

19 क्या वे इसके द्वारा मेरे प्रति अपना क्रोध व्यक्त कर रहे हैं? यह याहवेह की वाणी है. यह तो वे स्वयं अपनी ही लज्जा के लिए कर रहे हैं, अपनी ही लज्जा के लिए?

Are they truly provoking me?—this is Yahweh's declaration—is it not themselves whom they are provoking, so that shame is on them?

20 “‘इसलिये प्रभु याहवेह का संदेश यह है: तुम देख लेना कि मेरा कोप और मेरा आक्रोश इस स्थान पर उंडेला जाएगा, चाहे मनुष्य हो अथवा पशु, मैदान के वृक्ष हों अथवा भूमि के फल, यह प्रज्वलित रहेगा तथा यह बूझ न सकेगा.

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this, 'See, my anger and wrath will gush out onto this place, on both man and beast, on the tree in the fields and the fruit on the ground. It will burn and never be extinguished.'

21 “‘इस्राएल के परमेश्वर, सेनाओं के याहवेह का यह आदेश है: अपनी होमबलियों के साथ अन्य बलियों को भी सम्मिलित कर लो और तुम ही उस मांस को सेवन भी कर लो!

Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel says this, 'Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and the meat from them.

22 क्योंकि मिस्र देश से तुम्हारे पूर्वजों को निराश करने के अवसर पर मैंने उनसे न तो होमबलियों का और न हनन बलियों का उल्लेख किया था और न ही इनके लिए आदेश ही दिया था,

For when I brought your ancestors out from the land of Egypt, I did not require anything from them. I gave them no command about matters of burnt offerings and sacrifices.

23 किंतु मैंने उन्हें आदेश यह दिया था: मेरे आदेशों का पालन करो, तो मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर बना रहूंगा तथा तुम मेरी प्रजा बनी रहोगी. मेरी नीतियों का आचरण करो जिनका मैंने तुम्हें आदेश दिया है, कि तुम्हारा कल्याण हो.

I only gave them this command, “Listen to my voice, and I will be your God and you will be my people. So walk in all the ways that I am commanding you, so that it may go well with you.”

24 फिर भी उन्होंने न तो मेरे आदेशों का पालन किया, न उनकी ओर ध्यान ही दिया. उन्होंने अपने बुरे दिलों की जिद्दी इच्छा का पालन किया. तब वे आगे बढ़ने की अपेक्षा में पीछे ही हटते चले गए.

But they did not listen or pay attention. They lived by their own stubborn plans of their wicked hearts, so they went backwards, not forward.

25 जिस दिन से तुम्हारे पूर्वज मिस्र देश से निराश हुए तब से आज तक, मैंने अपने सेवक अर्थात् भविष्यवक्ताओं को दिन-प्रतिदिन तुम्हारे लिए भेजा है.

Ever since the day when your ancestors went out from the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent every one of my servants, my prophets, to you. I persisted in sending them.

26 फिर भी न तो उन्होंने मेरी सुनी और न ही मेरे संदेश की ओर ध्यान ही दिया. बल्कि उन्होंने अपनी गर्दन और भी अधिक कठोर बना ली, उन्होंने तो अपने पूर्वजों से भी अधिक बुरे कार्य किए.’

But they did not listen to me. They paid no attention. Instead, they hardened their necks. They were more wicked than their ancestors.'

27 “अनिवार्य है कि तुम मेरा संपूर्ण वचन उनके समक्ष दोहराओ, हां, वे तुम्हारी सुनेंगे नहीं; तुम उनको आह्वान तो करोगे, किंतु वे इसका प्रत्युत्तर कदापि न देंगे.

So proclaim all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. Proclaim these things to them, but they will not answer you.

28 तुम्हें उनसे यह कहना होगा, ‘यह वह राष्ट्र है जिसने न तो याहवेह अपने परमेश्वर के आदेशों का पालन किया और न ही उनके द्वारा किए जा रहे आदेश को स्वीकार किया. सत्यता नष्ट हो चुकी और उनके मुख से दूर की जा चुकी है.

Say to them: This is a nation that does not listen to the voice of Yahweh its God and does not receive discipline. Truth is destroyed and cut off from their mouths.

29 “‘अपने केश काट डालो और उन्हें फेंक दो; वनस्पतिहीन पर्वतों पर जाकर विलाप करो, क्योंकि याहवेह ने उस पीढ़ी को अस्वीकार करके उसका परित्याग कर दिया है और जिसने उनका कोप भड़काया है.

Cut off your hair and shave yourself, and throw away your hair. Sing a funeral song over the open places. For Yahweh has rejected and abandoned this generation in his rage.

30 “‘यहूदाह के वंशजों ने वह किया है जो मेरी दृष्टि में बुरा है, यह याहवेह की वाणी है. उन्होंने उन घृणास्पद वस्तुओं को उस भवन में प्रतिष्ठित कर रखा है जो मेरे नाम से प्रख्यात हैं और मेरा भवन अशुद्ध हो चुका है.

For the sons of Judah have done evil in my eye—this is Yahweh's declaration—they have set their detestable things in the house that is called by my name, in order to defile it.

31 उन्होंने तोफेथ के पूजा-स्थल निर्मित कर लिए हैं जो हिन्‍नोम के पुत्र की घाटी में हैं कि वे वहां अपने पुत्रों-पुत्रियों को होमबलि स्वरूप अर्पित करें, जिसको मैंने आदेश ही न दिया है, न ही यह कभी मेरे विचारों में आया था.

Then they built the high place of Topheth that is in the Valley of Ben Hinnom. They did this to burn their sons and daughters in fire—something that I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.

32 इसलिये यह देखना, कि वे दिन आ रहे हैं, यह याहवेह की वाणी है, जब इसको तोफेथ-पूजास्थल अथवा हिन्‍नोम के पुत्र की घाटी कहा जाना समाप्‍त हो जाएगा, बल्कि यह नरसंहार घाटी हो जाएगी, वे अपने मृतकों को तोफ़ेथ में तब तक दफनाएंगे कि जब तक वहां कोई जगह ही शेष न हो.

So see, days are coming—this is Yahweh's declaration—when it will no longer be called Topheth or Valley of Ben Hinnom. It will be the Valley of Slaughter; they will bury bodies in Topheth until there is no room left.

33 इन लोगों के शव आकाश के पक्षी को तथा पृथ्वी के पशुओं के आहार होने लगेंगे, इन्हें कोई भी शवों से दूर नहीं भगाएगा.

The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the skies and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

34 तब मैं यहूदिया के नगरों और येरूशलेम के सड़कों में से उल्लास एवं आनंद का स्वर बंद कर दूंगा, वर एवं वधू के विवाहोत्सव की ध्वनि बंद हो जाएगी, क्योंकि सारे देश ही उजाड़ हो जाएंगे.

I will put an end to the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, the sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the sound of the groom and the sound of the bride, for the land will become a desolation.”
