यिर्मयाह 12

1 याहवेह, जब भी मैं आपके समक्ष अपना मुकदमा प्रस्तुत करता हूं, आप सदैव ही युक्त प्रमाणित होते हैं. निःसंदेह मैं आपके ही साथ न्याय संबंधी विषयों पर विचार-विमर्श करूंगा: क्यों बुराइयों का जीवन समृद्ध होता गया है? क्यों वे सब जो विश्वासघात के व्यापार में लिप्‍त हैं निश्चिंत जीवन जी रहे हैं?

Righteous [art] Thou, O Jehovah, When I plead towards thee, Only, judgments do I speak with Thee, Wherefore did the way of the wicked prosper? At rest have been all treacherous dealers.

2 आपने उन्हें रोपित किया है, अब तो उन्होंने जड़ भी पकड़ ली है; वे विकास कर रहे हैं और अब तो वे फल भी उत्पन्‍न कर रहे हैं. उनके होंठों पर तो आपका नाम बना रहता है किंतु अपने मन से उन्होंने आपको दूर ही दूर रखा है.

Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root, They go on, yea, they have made fruit, Near [art] Thou in their mouth, And far off from their reins.

3 किंतु याहवेह, आप मुझे जानते हैं; मैं आपकी दृष्टि में बना रहता हूं; आप मेरे हृदय की परीक्षा करते रहते हैं. उन्हें इस प्रकार खींचकर अलग कर लीजिए, जिस प्रकार वध के लिए भेड़ें अलग की जाती हैं! उन्हें नरसंहार के दिन के लिए तैयार कर लीजिए!

And Thou, O Jehovah, Thou hast known me, Thou seest me, and hast tried my heart with Thee, Draw them away as sheep to slaughter, And separate them for a day of slaughter.

4 हमारा देश और कितने दिन विलाप करता रहेगा तथा कब तक मैदान में घास मुरझाती रहेगी? क्योंकि देशवासियों की बुराई के कारण, पशु-पक्षी सहसा वहां से हटा दिए गए हैं. क्योंकि, वे मनुष्य अपने मन में विचार कर रहे हैं, “परमेश्वर को हमारे द्वारा किए गए कार्यों का परिणाम दिखाई न देगा.”

Till when doth the earth mourn, And the herb of the whole field wither? For the wickedness of those dwelling in it, Consumed have been beast and fowl, Because they said, 'He doth not see our latter end.'

5 “यदि तुम धावकों के साथ दौड़ रहे थे और तुम इससे थक चुके हो, तो तुम घोड़ों से स्पर्धा कैसे कर सकोगे? यदि तुम अनुकूल क्षेत्र में ही लड़खड़ा गए तो, यरदन क्षेत्र के बंजर भूमि में तुम्हारा क्या होगा?

For — with footmen thou hast run, And they weary thee, And how dost thou fret thyself with horses! Even in the land of peace, [In which] thou art confident — And how dost thou in the rising of Jordan!

6 क्योंकि यहां तक कि तुम्हारे भाई-बंधुओं तथा तुम्हारे पिता के ही परिवार ने— तुम्हारे साथ विश्वासघात किया है; वे चिल्ला-चिल्लाकर तुम्हारा विरोध कर रहे हैं. यदि वे तुमसे तुम्हारे विषय में अनुकूल शब्द भी कहें, फिर भी उनका विश्वास न करना.

For even thy brethren and the house of thy father, Even they dealt treacherously against thee, Even they — they called after thee fully, Trust not in them, when they speak to thee good things.

7 “मैंने अपने परिवार का परित्याग कर दिया है, मैंने अपनी इस निज भाग को भी छोड़ दिया है; मैंने अपनी प्राणप्रिया को उसके शत्रुओं के हाथों में सौंप दिया है.

I have forsaken My house, I have left Mine inheritance, I have given the beloved of My soul Into the hand of her enemies.

8 मेरे लिए तो अब मेरा यह निज भाग वन के सिंह सदृश हो गया है. उसने मुझ पर गर्जना की है; इसलिये अब मुझे उससे घृणा हो गई है.

Mine inheritance hath been to Me as a lion in a forest, She gave forth against Me with her voice, Therefore I have hated her.

9 क्या मेरे लिए यह निज भाग चित्तिवाले शिकारी पक्षी सदृश है? क्या वह चारों ओर से शिकारी पक्षी से घिर चुकी है? जाओ, मैदान के सारे पशुओं को एकत्र करो; कि वे आकर इन्हें निगल कर जाएं.

A speckled fowl [is] Mine inheritance to Me? Is the fowl round about against her? Come, assemble, every beast of the field, Come ye for food.

10 अनेक हैं वे चरवाहे जिन्होंने मेरा द्राक्षाउद्यान नष्ट कर दिया है, उन्होंने मेरे अंश को रौंद डाला है; जिन्होंने मेरे मनोहर खेत को निर्जन एवं उजाड़ कर छोड़ा है.

Many shepherds did destroy My vineyard, They have trodden down My portion, They have made My desirable portion Become a wilderness — a desolation.

11 इसे उजाड़ बना दिया गया है, अपनी उजाड़ स्थिति में देश मेरे समक्ष विलाप कर रहा है; सारा देश ही ध्वस्त किया जा चुका है; क्योंकि किसी को इसकी हितचिंता ही नहीं है.

He hath made it become a desolation, The desolation hath mourned unto Me, Desolated hath been all the land, But there is no one laying it to heart.

12 निर्जन प्रदेश में वनस्पतिहीन पहाड़ियों पर विनाशक सेना आ पहुंची है, क्योंकि देश के एक ओर से दूसरी ओर तक याहवेह की घातक तलवार तैयार हो चुकी है; इस तलवार से सुरक्षित कोई भी नहीं है.

On all high places in the plain have spoilers come in, For the sword of Jehovah is consuming, From the end of the land even unto the end of the land, There is no peace to any flesh.

13 उन्होंने रोपण तो किया गेहूं को किंतु उपज काटी कांटों की; उन्होंने परिश्रम तो किया किंतु लाभ कुछ भी अर्जित न हुआ. उपयुक्त है कि ऐसी उपज के लिए तुम लज्जित होओ क्योंकि इसके पीछे याहवेह का प्रचंड कोप क्रियाशील है.”

They sowed wheat, and have thorns reaped, They have become sick — they profit not, And they have been ashamed of your increases, Because of the fierceness of the anger of Jehovah.

14 अपने बुरे पड़ोसियों के विषय में जिन्होंने मेरी प्रजा इस्राएल के इस निज भाग पर आक्रमण किया है, याहवेह का यह कहना है: “यह देख लेना, मैं उन्हें उनके देश में से अलग करने पर हूं और उनके मध्य से मैं यहूदाह के वंश को अलग कर दूंगा.

Thus said Jehovah concerning all my evil neighbours, who are striking against the inheritance that I caused my people — Israel — to inherit: 'Lo, I am plucking them from off their ground, And the house of Judah I pluck out of their midst.

15 और तब जब मैं उन्हें अलग कर दूंगा, मैं उन पर पुनः अपनी करुणा प्रदर्शित करूंगा; तब मैं उनमें से हर एक को उसके इस निज भाग में लौटा ले आऊंगा; हर एक को उसके देश में लौटा लाऊंगा.

And it hath been, after My plucking them out, I turn back, and have pitied them, And I have brought them back, Each to his inheritance, and each to his land.

16 तब यदि वे मेरी प्रजा की नीतियां सीख लेंगे और बाल के जीवन की शपथ कहने के स्थान पर कहेंगे, ‘जीवित याहवेह की शपथ,’ तब वे मेरी प्रजा के मध्य ही समृद्ध होते चले जाएंगे.

And it hath come to pass, If they learn well the ways of My people, To swear by My name, 'Jehovah liveth,' As they taught My people to swear by Baal, Then they have been built up in the midst of My people.

17 किंतु यदि वे मेरे आदेश की अवहेलना करेंगे, तब मैं उस राष्ट्र को अलग कर दूंगा; अलग कर उसे नष्ट कर दूंगा,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

And if they do not hearken, Then I have plucked up that nation, Plucking up and destroying, An affirmation of Jehovah!'
