यशायाह 41

1 हे द्वीपो, चुप रहकर मेरी सुनो! देश-देश के लोग, नया बल पायें! वे पास आकर बात करें; न्याय के लिए हम एक दूसरे के पास आएं.

Keep silence before me, O isles; and let the people renew [their] strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

2 “किसने उसे उकसाया है जो पूर्व में है, जिसको धर्म के साथ अपने चरणों में बुलाता हैं? याहवेह उसे देश सौंपते जाते हैं तथा राजाओं को उसके अधीन करते जाते हैं. वह उसकी तलवार से उन्हें धूल में, तथा उसके धनुष से हवा में उड़ती भूसी में बदल देता है.

Who raised up the righteous [man] from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made [him] rule over kings? he gave [them] as the dust to his sword, [and] as driven stubble to his bow.

3 वह उनका पीछा करता है तथा एक ऐसे मार्ग से सुरक्षित उनसे आगे निकल जाता है, जिस पर इससे पहले वह चलकर कभी पार नहीं गया.

He pursued them, [and] passed safely; [even] by the way [that] he had not gone with his feet.

4 आदिकाल से अब तक की पीढ़ियों को किसने बुलाया है? मैं ही याहवेह, जो सबसे पहला और आखिरी हूं.”

Who hath wrought and done [it], calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I [am] he.

5 तटवर्ती क्षेत्रों ने यह देखा तथा वे डर गए; पृथ्वी कांपने लगी, और पास आ गए.

The isles saw [it], and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

6 हर एक अपने पड़ोसी की सहायता करता है तथा अपने बंधु से कहता है, “हियाव बांध!”

They helped every one his neighbor; and [every one] said to his brother, Be of good courage.

7 इसी प्रकार शिल्पी भी सुनार को हिम्मत दिलाता है, जो हथौड़े से धातु को समतल बनाकर कील मारता है और हिम्मत बांधता है. निहाई पर हथौड़ा चलाता है. वह टांकों को ठोक ठोक कर कसता है ताकि वह ढीला न रह जाए.

So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, [and] he that smootheth [with] the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It [is] ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, [that] it should not be moved.

8 “हे मेरे दास इस्राएल, मेरे चुने हुए याकोब, मेरे मित्र अब्राहाम के वंश,

But thou, Israel, [art] my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

9 तुम्हें जिसे मैं दूर देश से लौटा लाया हूं, तथा पृथ्वी के दूरतम स्थानों से तुम्हें बुलाकर तुम्हें यह आश्वासन दिया है. ‘तुम मेरे सेवक हो’; मेरे चुने हुए, मैंने तुम्हें छोड़ा नहीं है.

[Thou] whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said to thee, Thou [art] my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

10 इसलिये मत डरो, मैं तुम्हारे साथ हूं; इधर-उधर मत ताको, क्योंकि तुम्हारा परमेश्वर मैं हूं. मैं तुम्हें दृढ़ करूंगा और तुम्हारी सहायता करूंगा; मैं तुम्हें अपने धर्ममय दाएं हाथ से संभाले रखूंगा.

Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yes, I will help thee; yes, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

11 “देख जो तुझसे क्रोधित हैं वे लज्जित एवं अपमानित किए जाएंगे; वे जो तुमसे झगड़ा करते हैं नाश होकर मिट जायेंगे.

Behold, all [they that were] incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that contend with thee shall perish.

12 तुम उन्हें जो तुमसे विवाद करते थे खोजते रहोगे, किंतु उन्हें पाओगे नहीं. जो तुम्हारे साथ युद्ध करते हैं, वे नाश होकर मिट जाएंगे.

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, [even] them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of naught.

13 क्योंकि मैं याहवेह तुम्हारा परमेश्वर हूं, जो तुम्हारे दाएं हाथ को थामे रहता है जो तुम्हें आश्वासन देता है, मत डर; तुम्हारी सहायता मैं करूंगा.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying to thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

14 हे कीड़े समान याकोब, हे इस्राएली प्रजा मत डर, तुम्हारी सहायता मैं करूंगा,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है. इस्राएल के पवित्र परमेश्वर तेरे छुड़ानेवाले हैं.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, [and] ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

15 “देख, मैंने तुम्हें छुरी वाले उपकरण समान बनाया है. तुम पर्वतों को कूट-कूट कर चूर्ण बना दोगे, तथा घाटियों को भूसी का रूप दे दोगे.

Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat [them] small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

16 तुम उन्हें फटकोगे, हवा उन्हें उड़ा ले जाएगी, तथा आंधी उन्हें बिखेर देगी. किंतु तुम याहवेह में खुश होगे तुम इस्राएल के पवित्र परमेश्वर पर गर्व करोगे.

Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, [and] shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

17 “जो दीन तथा दरिद्र हैं वे जल की खोज कर रहे हैं, किंतु जल कहीं नहीं; प्यास से उनका गला सूख गया है. मैं याहवेह ही उन्हें स्वयं उत्तर दूंगा; इस्राएल का परमेश्वर होने के कारण मैं उनको नहीं छोड़ूंगा.

[When] the poor and needy seek water, and [there is] none, [and] their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, [I] the God of Israel will not forsake them.

18 मैं सूखी पहाड़ियों से नदियों को बहा दूंगा, घाटियों के मध्य झरने फूट पड़ेंगे. निर्जन स्थल जल ताल हो जाएगा, तथा सूखी भूमि जल का सोता होगी.

I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

19 मरुस्थल देवदार, बबूल, मेंहदी, तथा जैतून वृक्ष उपजाने लगेंगे. मैं मरुस्थल में सनौवर, चिनार तथा चीड़ के वृक्ष उगा दूंगा,

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah-tree, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree; I will set in the desert the fir-tree, the pine, and the box-tree together:

20 कि वे देख सकें तथा इसे समझ लें, कि यह याहवेह के हाथों का कार्य है, तथा इसे इस्राएल के पवित्र परमेश्वर ही ने किया है.”

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

21 याहवेह कहता है, “अपनी बात कहो.” अपना मुकदमा लड़ो, “यह याकोब के राजा का आदेश है.

Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong [reasons], saith the King of Jacob.

22 वे देवताएं आएं, तथा हमें बताएं, कि भविष्य में क्या होनेवाला है. या होनेवाली घटनाओं के बारे में भी बताएं.

Let them bring [them] forth, and show us what shall happen: let them show the former things, what they [are] that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare to us things to come.

23 उन घटनाओं को बताओ जो भविष्य में होने पर हैं, तब हम मानेंगे कि तुम देवता हो. कुछ तो करो, भला या बुरा, कि हम चकित हो जाएं तथा डरें भी.

Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye [are] gods: yes, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold [it] together.

24 देखो तुम कुछ भी नहीं हो तुम्हारे द्वारा किए गए काम भी व्यर्थ ही हैं; जो कोई तुम्हारा पक्ष लेता है वह धिक्कार-योग्य है.

Behold, ye [are] of nothing, and your work of naught: an abomination [is he that] chooseth you.

25 “मैंने उत्तर दिशा में एक व्यक्ति को चुना है, वह आ भी गया है— पूर्व दिशा से वह मेरे नाम की दोहाई देगा. वह हाकिमों को इस प्रकार रौंद डालेगा, जिस प्रकार गारा रौंदा जाता है, जिस प्रकार कुम्हार मिट्टी को रौंदता है.

I have raised up [one] from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as [upon] mortar, and as the potter treadeth clay.

26 क्या किसी ने इस बात को पहले से बताया था, कि पहले से हमें मालूम हो, या पहले से, किसी ने हमें बताया कि, ‘हम समझ सकें और हम कह पाते की वह सच्चा है?’ कोई बतानेवाला नहीं, कोई भी सुननेवाला नहीं है.

Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and before time, that we may say, [He is] righteous? verily, [there is] none that showeth, verily, [there is] none that declareth, verily, [there is] none that heareth your words.

27 सबसे पहले मैंने ही ज़ियोन को बताया कि, ‘देख लो, वे आ गए!’ येरूशलेम से मैंने प्रतिज्ञा की मैं तुम्हें शुभ संदेश सुनाने वाला दूत दूंगा.

The first [shall say] to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

28 किंतु जब मैंने ढूंढ़ा वहां कोई नहीं था, उन लोगों में कोई भी जवाब देनेवाला नहीं था, यदि मैं कोई प्रश्न करूं, तो मुझे उसका उत्तर कौन देगा.

For I beheld, and [there was] no man; even among them, and [there was] no counselor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

29 यह समझ लो कि वे सभी अनर्थ हैं! व्यर्थ हैं उनके द्वारा किए गए काम; उनके द्वारा बनाई गई मूर्तियां केवल वायु एवं खोखली हैं.”

Behold, they [are] all vanity, their works [are] nothing: their molten images [are] wind and confusion.
