होशे 4

1 हे इस्राएली लोगों, याहवेह की बात को सुनो, क्योंकि तुम जो इस देश में रहते हो, तुम्हारे ऊपर याहवेह एक दोष लगानेवाला है: “इस देश के निवासियों में परमेश्वर के प्रति न तो विश्वासयोग्यता, न प्रेम, और न ही परमेश्वर को माननेवाली बात है.

Hear the word of Yahweh, ye sons of Israel, —that, a controversy, hath Yahweh with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no faithfulness, nor lovingkindness, nor knowledge of God, in the land:

2 यहां सिर्फ शाप, झूठ और हत्या, चोरी, और व्यभिचार है; वे सब सीमाओं को लांघ जाते हैं, और खून के बदले खून बहाते हैं.

Cursing and lying, and killing and stealing, and committing adultery, have broken forth, and, blood-shedding, unto blood-shedding, doth extend.

3 यही कारण है कि यह देश सूख जाता है, इसमें सब रहनेवाले बेकार हो जाते हैं; भूमि के जानवर, आकाश के पक्षी और समुद्र की मछलियां नष्ट हो जाती हैं.

For this cause, shall the land mourn, and everyone who dwelleth therein shall languish, with the wild beast of the field and with the bird of the heavens, —moreover also, the fishes of the sea, shall be withdrawn.

4 “पर कोई भी दोष न लगाए, कोई भी दूसरे पर आरोप न लगाए, क्योंकि तुम्हारे लोग उनके समान हैं जो पुरोहित के ऊपर दोष लगाते हैं.

Howbeit let, no man, contend, nor let him rebuke another, —since, thy people, are as they who contend against a priest:

5 तुम दिन-रात ठोकर खाते हो, और तुम्हारे साथ भविष्यवक्ता भी ठोकर खाते हैं. इसलिये मैं तुम्हारी माता को नाश कर दूंगा—

So shouldst thou stumble in the daytime, and even the prophet stumble with thee, in the night, —and I should destroy thine own mother.

6 मेरे लोग ज्ञान की कमी के कारण नाश होते हैं. “क्योंकि तुमने ज्ञान को अस्वीकार किया है, मैं भी तुम्हें पुरोहित के रूप में अस्वीकार करता हूं; क्योंकि तुमने अपने परमेश्वर के कानून की उपेक्षा की है, मैं भी तुम्हारे बच्चों की उपेक्षा करूंगा.

My people, are destroyed, for lack of knowledge, —Because, thou, hast rejected knowledge, therefore will I reject thee from ministering as priest unto me, and, because thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also, will forget thy children.

7 जितने ज्यादा पुरोहित थे, उतने ज्यादा उन्होंने मेरे विरुद्ध पाप किया; उन्होंने अपने महिमामय परमेश्वर के बदले में कलंकित चीज़ को अपना लिया.

As they were magnified, so, they sinned against me, —My glory—for what was contemptible, did they exchange.

8 मेरे लोगों के पाप इन पुरोहितों के भोजन बन गए हैं और वे उनके दुष्टता का आनंद लेते हैं.

The sin of my people, they do eat, —and. unto their iniquity, lift they up every man his desire.

9 और यह ऐसा ही होगा: जैसे लोगों की दशा, वैसे पुरोहितों की दशा. मैं उन दोनों को उनके चालचलन का दंड दूंगा और उन्हें उनके कार्यों का बदला दूंगा.

So doth it come to be—like people, like priest, —therefore will I visit upon him his ways, and, his doings, will I bring back to him;

10 “वे खाएंगे पर उनके पास पर्याप्‍त भोजन नहीं होगा; वे व्यभिचार में लिप्‍त होंगे पर बढ़ेंगे नहीं, क्योंकि उन्होंने याहवेह को छोड़ दिया है

And they shall eat, and not be satisfied, they have encouraged unchastity, yet have not been making increase, —for unto, Yahweh, have they left off giving heed: —

11 ताकि वे व्यभिचार कर सकें; पुरानी एवं नई दाखमधु उनकी समझ भ्रष्‍ट कर देती है.

Unchastity, and wine, and new wine, take away the heart.

12 मेरे लोग लकड़ी की मूर्तियों से सलाह लेते हैं, और दैवीय छड़ी उनका भविष्य बताती है. व्यभिचार की एक आत्मा उन्हें भटका देती है; वे अपने परमेश्वर से विश्वासघात करते हैं.

My people, of their Wood, do ask, —Let, their Staff, then tell them, —for, the spirit of unchastity, hath led them astray, and they have unchastely departed from under their God.

13 वे पहाड़ों के शिखर पर बलिदान करते हैं और वे पहाड़ियों पर बांज, चिनार और एला वृक्षों के नीचे भेंटों को जलाते हैं, जहां अच्छी छाया होती है. इसलिये तुम्हारी बेटियां वेश्यावृत्ति करने जाती हैं और तुम्हारी पुत्रवधुएं व्यभिचार करती हैं.

On the headlands of the mountains, they sacrifice, and, on the hills, burn they incense, under oak and poplar and terebinth, because, pleasant, is the shade thereof: For this cause, do your daughters, become unchaste, and, your brides, commit adultery.

14 “जब तुम्हारी बेटियां वेश्यावृत्ति के लिये जाएंगी तो मैं उन्हें दंड न दूंगा, और न ही तुम्हारी पुत्रवधुओं को दंड दूंगा जब वे व्यभिचार के लिए जाएंगी, क्योंकि पुरुष स्वयं वेश्याओं के साथ रहते हैं और मंदिर की वेश्याओं के साथ बलि चढ़ाते हैं— नासमझ लोग नष्ट हो जाएंगे.

I do not bring punishment upon your daughters when they become unchaste, nor upon your brides, when they commit adultery, for, the men themselves, with unchaste women, do seclude themselves, and, with the common women of the shrine, do offer sacrifice, —and, a people who will not discern, must be ruined.

15 “हे इस्राएल, हालांकि तुम व्यभिचार करते हो, पर यहूदिया दोषी न होने पाए. “न तो गिलगाल जाओ और न ही ऊपर बेथ-आवेन को जाओ. और न ही यह शपथ खाना, ‘जीवित याहवेह की शपथ!’

Though unchaste art thou, O Israel, let not Judah, become guilty, neither let them enter Gilgal, nor go up to Beth-aven, and [then] swear, By the life of Yahweh!

16 इस्राएली लोग हठीली कलोर के समान हठीले हैं. तब याहवेह उनको चरागाह में मेमने की तरह कैसे चरा सकते हैं?

For, as a heifer that is stubborn, hath Israel, been stubborn, —Now, can Yahweh, turn them out to pasture, like a young ram in a wide place?

17 एफ्राईम मूर्तियों से जुड़ गया है; उसे अकेला छोड़ दो!

Mated with idols, is Ephraim, let him alone.

18 यहां तक कि जब उनकी दाखमधु भी खत्म हो जाती है, तब भी वे वेश्यावृत्ति में लिप्‍त रहते हैं; उनके शासक लज्जाजनक कामों से बहुत प्रेम रखते हैं.

Their drinking-bout, having passed, —they became, unchaste, they loved wildly, a contempt, became her great men.

19 बवंडर उड़ाकर ले जाएगा, और उनके बलिदानों के कारण उन्हें लज्जित होना पड़ेगा.

The wind hath bound her up in its wings, —that they may be ashamed, because of their sacrifices.
