1 इसलिये हम इस विषय में विशेष सावधान रहें कि जब तक उनके विश्राम में प्रवेश की प्रतिज्ञा मान्य है, आप में से कोई भी उसमें प्रवेश से चूक न जाए.
Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.
2 हमें भी ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार उसी प्रकार सुनाया गया था जैसे उन्हें, किंतु सुना हुआ वह ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार उनके लिए लाभप्रद सिद्ध नहीं हुआ क्योंकि उन्होंने इसे विश्वास से ग्रहण नहीं किया था.
For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard did not profit them, because they were not united by faith with those who heard.
3 हमने, जिन्होंने विश्वास किया, उस विश्राम में प्रवेश पाया, ठीक जैसा उनका कहना था, “जैसे मैंने अपने क्रोध में शपथ खाई, ‘वे मेरे विश्राम में प्रवेश कभी न पाएंगे.’” यद्यपि उनके काम सृष्टि के प्रारंभ से ही पूरे हो चुके थे.
For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest;" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 उन्होंने सातवें दिन के संबंध में किसी स्थान पर इस प्रकार वर्णन किया था: “तब सातवें दिन परमेश्वर ने अपने सभी कामों से विश्राम किया.”
For he has said this somewhere about the seventh day, "And God rested on the seventh day from all his works;"
5 एक बार फिर इसी भाग में, “वे मेरे विश्राम में प्रवेश कभी न करेंगे.”
and in this place again, "They will not enter into my rest."
6 इसलिये कि कुछ के लिए यह प्रवेश अब भी खुला आमंत्रण है तथा उनके लिए भी, जिन्हें इसके पूर्व ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार सुनाया तो गया किंतु वे अपनी अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण प्रवेश न कर पाए,
Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and they to whom the good news was before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,
7 परमेश्वर ने एक दिन दोबारा तय किया, “आज.” इसी दिन के विषय में एक लंबे समय के बाद उन्होंने दावीद के मुख से यह कहा था, ठीक जैसा कि पहले भी कहा था: “यदि आज तुम उनकी आवाज सुनो तो अपने हृदय कठोर न कर लेना.”
he again appoints a certain day, "Today," saying through David so long a time afterward (just as has been said), "Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."
8 यदि उन्हें यहोशू द्वारा विश्राम प्रदान किया गया होता तो परमेश्वर इसके बाद एक अन्य दिन का वर्णन न करते.
For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.
9 इसलिये परमेश्वर की प्रजा के लिए अब भी एक शब्बाथ का विश्राम तय है;
There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
10 क्योंकि वह, जो परमेश्वर के विश्राम में प्रवेश करता है, अपने कामों से भी विश्राम करता है, जिस प्रकार स्वयं परमेश्वर ने विश्राम किया था.
For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
11 इसलिये हम उस विश्राम में प्रवेश का पूरे साहस से प्रयास करें, कि किसी को भी उसी प्रकार अनाज्ञाकारिता का दंड भोगना न पड़े.
Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
12 परमेश्वर का वचन जीवित, सक्रिय तथा किसी भी दोधारी तलवार से कहीं अधिक धारदार है, जो हमारे भीतर में प्रवेश कर हमारी आत्मा, प्राण, जोड़ों तथा मज्जा को भेद देता है. यह हमारे हृदय के उद्धेश्यों तथा विचारों को पहचानने में सक्षम है.
For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13 जिन्हें हमें हिसाब देना है, उनकी दृष्टि से कोई भी प्राणी छिपा नहीं है—सभी वस्तुएं उनके सामने साफ़ और खुली हुई हैं.
There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 इसलिये कि वह, जो आकाशमंडल में से होकर पहुंच गए, जब वह महापुरोहित—परमेश्वर-पुत्र, मसीह येशु—हमारी ओर हैं; हम अपने विश्वास में स्थिर बने रहें.
Having then a great cohen hagadol, who has passed through the heavens, Yeshua, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.
15 वह ऐसे महापुरोहित नहीं हैं, जो हमारी दुर्बलताओं में सहानुभूति न रख सकें परंतु वह ऐसे महापुरोहित हैं, जो प्रत्येक पक्ष में हमारे समान ही परखे गए फिर भी निष्पाप ही रहे;
For we do not have a cohen hagadol who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.
16 इसलिये हम अनुग्रह के सिंहासन के सामने निडर होकर जाएं, कि हमें ज़रूरत के अवसर पर कृपा तथा अनुग्रह प्राप्‍त हो.
Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.
