1 याकोब अपनी यात्रा में आगे बढ़ते गए और पूर्वी देश में जा पहुंचे.
Then Iaakob lift vp his feete and came into the East countrey.
2 तब उन्हें मैदान में एक कुंआ और भेड़-बकरियों के तीन झुंड बैठे नज़र आये और उन्होंने देखा कि जिस कुएं से भेड़-बकरियों को पानी पिलाते थे उस कुएं पर बड़ा पत्थर रखा हुआ था.
And as he looked about, behold there was a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheepe lay thereby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there was a great stone vpon the welles mouth.
3 जब भेड़-बकरियां एक साथ इकट्ठी हो जातीं तब कुएं से पत्थर हटाकर भेड़-बकरियों को पानी पिलाया जाता था, फिर पत्थर कुएं पर वापस लुढ़का दिया जाता था.
And thither were all the flockes gathered, and they rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered the sheepe, and put the stone againe vpon the welles mouth in his place.
4 याकोब ने चरवाहों से पूछा, “मेरे भाइयो, आप कहां से आए हैं?” उन्होंने कहा, “हम हारान के हैं.”
And Iaakob sayde vnto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they answered, We are of Haran.
5 याकोब ने पूछा, “क्या आप नाहोर के पोते लाबान को जानते हैं?” उन्होंने कहा, “हां, हम जानते हैं.”
Then he sayd vnto them, Know ye Laban the sonne of Nahor? Who said, We know him.
6 फिर याकोब ने पूछा, “क्या वे ठीक हैं?” उन्होंने कहा, “वे ठीक हैं और उनकी बेटी राहेल अपनी भेड़ों के साथ यहां आ रही है.”
Againe he sayd vnto them, Is he in good health? And they answered, He is in good health, and beholde, his daughter Rahel commeth with the sheepe.
7 याकोब ने कहा, “देखो, सूरज अभी भी ऊंचा है, अभी तो शाम नहीं हुई फिर इतनी जल्दी भेड़-बकरियों को क्यों इकट्ठा कर रहे हो, अभी उन्हें पानी पिलाकर चरने दो.”
Then he sayd, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time that the cattell shoulde be gathered together: water ye the sheepe and go feede them.
8 लेकिन उन्होंने कहा, “नहीं, सब भेड़-बकरियां एक साथ आने पर ही कुएं से पत्थर हटाकर भेड़-बकरियों को जल पिलाया जाता है.”
But they sayde, We may not vntill all the flocks be brought together, and till men rolle the stone from the welles mouth, that we may water the sheepe.
9 जब वे बात कर रहे थे, राहेल अपने पिता की भेड़ें लेकर वहां आ गई, क्योंकि वह पशु चराया करती थी.
While he talked with them, Rahel also came with her fathers sheepe, for she kept them.
10 जब याकोब ने अपनी माता के भाई लाबान की पुत्री तथा भेड़-बकरी को देखा, तो उन्होंने जाकर कुएं के मुख से पत्थर हटाया और भेड़-बकरियों को पानी पिलाने लगे.
And assoone as Iaakob saw Rahel ye daughter of Laban his mothers brother, and the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, then came Iaakob neere, and rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered ye flocke of Laban his mothers brother.
11 तब याकोब ने राहेल को चुंबन दिया और रोने लगे.
And Iaakob kissed Rahel, and lift vp his voyce and wept.
12 याकोब ने राहेल को बताया, कि वह उसके पिता के संबंधी हैं, और रेबेकाह के पुत्र हैं. राहेल दौड़ती हुई अपने पिता को यह बताने गई.
(For Iaakob tolde Rahel, that he was her fathers brother, and that he was Rebekahs sonne) then she ranne and tolde her father.
13 जब लाबान ने अपनी बहन के पुत्र याकोब के बारे में सुना, वह भी दौड़कर उनसे मिलने आये. उन्होंने याकोब को चुंबन दिया और उन्हें अपने घर पर लाए. याकोब ने लाबान को अपने बारे में बताया.
And when Laban heard tell of Iaakob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house: and he tolde Laban all these things.
14 लाबान ने याकोब से कहा, “निःसंदेह तुम मेरी ही हड्डी एवं मांस हो.” याकोब वहां एक महीने रुके.
To whome Laban sayd, Well, thou art my bone and my flesh. and he abode with him the space of a moneth.
15 तब लाबान ने याकोब से कहा, “यद्यपि तुम मेरे संबंधी हो, यह अच्छा नहीं कि मेरे लिए तुम बिना वेतन के काम करते रहो! इसलिये तुम वेतन लेकर ही काम करना!”
For Laban sayde vnto Iaakob, Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me, what shalbe thy wages?
16 लाबान की दो पुत्रियां थीं. बड़ी का नाम लियाह तथा छोटी का नाम राहेल था.
Now Laban had two daughters, the elder called Leah, and the yonger called Rahel.
17 लियाह की आंखें धुंधली थी पर राहेल सुंदर थी.
And Leah was tender eyed, but Rahel was beautifull and faire.
18 याकोब राहेल को चाहने लगे, याकोब ने लाबान से कहा, “आपकी छोटी बेटी राहेल को पाने के लिए मैं सात वर्ष आपकी सेवा करने को तैयार हूं.”
And Iaakob loued Rahel, and sayde, I will serue thee seuen yeeres for Rahel thy yonger daughter.
19 लाबान ने कहा, “मैं राहेल को किसी अन्य पुरुष को देने से तुमको देना बेहतर है. तुम यहीं हमारे साथ रहो.”
Then Laban answered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I should giue her to another man: abide with me.
20 इसलिये याकोब ने राहेल को पाने के लिए सात वर्ष सेवा की, लेकिन उसे यह समय बहुत कम लगा क्योंकि वह राहेल से बहुत प्रेम करता था.
And Iaakob serued seuen yeres for Rahel, and they seemed vnto him but a few dayes, because he loued her.
21 फिर याकोब ने लाबान से कहा, “सात वर्ष हो गये; अब आपकी बेटी राहेल मुझे दीजिए ताकि उससे मेरी शादी हो जाये.”
Then Iaakob sayde to Laban, Giue me my wife, that I may goe in to her: for my terme is ended.
22 लाबान ने अपने समाज के लोगों को बुलाकर सबको खाना खिलाया.
Wherefore Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
23 शाम को उसने अपनी बेटी लियाह को याकोब को सौंप दी और याकोब ने उसके साथ विवाह किया.
But whe the euening was come, he tooke Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he went in vnto her.
24 लाबान ने अपनी दासी ज़िलपाह को भी लियाह को उसकी दासी होने के लिए दिया.
And Laban gaue his mayde Zilpah to his daughter Leah, to be her seruant.
25 जब याकोब को मालूम पड़ा कि वह तो लियाह थी, याकोब ने लाबान से पूछा, “यह क्या किया आपने मेरे साथ? मैं आपकी सेवा राहेल के लिए कर रहा था? फिर आपने मेरे साथ ऐसा धोखा क्यों किया?”
But when the morning was come, behold, it was Leah. Then sayde he to Laban, Wherefore hast thou done thus to mee? did not I serue thee for Rahel? wherfore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 लाबान ने कहा, “हमारे समाज में बड़ी को छोड़ पहले छोटी की शादी नहीं कर सकते.
And Laban answered, It is not the maner of this place, to giue the yonger before the elder.
27 विवाह के उत्सव को पूरे सप्ताह मनाते रहो और मैं राहेल को भी तुम्हें विवाह के लिए दूंगा; परंतु तुम्हें और सात वर्ष तक मेरी सेवा करनी पड़ेगी.”
Fulfill seuen yeeres for her, and we wil also giue thee this for the seruice, which thou shalt serue me yet seuen yeeres more.
28 इसलिये याकोब ने ऐसा ही किया. और समारोह का वह सप्ताह पूरा किया, तब लाबान ने याकोब को राहेल पत्नी स्वरूप सौंप दी.
Then Iaakob did so, and fulfilled her seuen yeeres, so he gaue him Rahel his daughter to be his wife.
29 लाबान ने अपनी दासी बिलहाह को भी राहेल की दासी होने के लिए उसे सौंप दिया.
Laban also gaue to Rahel his daughter Bilhah his mayde to be her seruant.
30 याकोब राहेल के पास गया और उसे राहेल लियाह से अधिक प्रिय थी. और उसने लाबान के लिए और सात साल सेवा की.
So entred he in to Rahel also, and loued also Rahel more then Leah, and serued him yet seuen yeeres more.
31 जब याहवेह ने देखा कि लियाह को प्यार नहीं मिल रहा, याहवेह ने लियाह को गर्भ से आशीषित किया और राहेल को बांझ कर दिया.
When the Lord saw that Leah was despised, he made her fruitful: but Rahel was barren.
32 लियाह गर्भवती हुई और उसने एक बेटे को जन्म दिया और उसका नाम रियूबेन यह कहकर रखा, “याहवेह ने मेरे दुःख को देखा, और अब मेरे पति ज़रूर मुझसे प्रेम करेंगे.”
And Leah conceiued and bare a sonne, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Because the Lord hath looked vpon my tribulation, now therefore mine husband will loue me.
33 लियाह का एक और पुत्र पैदा हुआ. उसने कहा, “क्योंकि याहवेह ने यह सुन लिया कि मैं प्रिय नहीं हूं और मुझे यह एक और पुत्र दिया.” उसने उसका नाम शिमओन रखा.
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and sayde, Because the Lord heard that I was hated, he hath therefore giuen me this sonne also, and she called his name Simeon.
34 लियाह फिर से गर्भवती हुई और जब उसका एक पुत्र पैदा हुआ तब उसने कहा, “अब मेरे पति मुझसे जुड़ जायेंगे क्योंकि मैनें उनके तीन पुत्रों को जन्म दिया है.” इसलिये लियाह ने तीसरे बेटे का नाम लेवी रखा.
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and said, Now at this time wil my husband keepe mee company, because I haue borne him three sonnes: therefore was his name called Leui.
35 उसने एक और बेटे को जन्म दिया और कहा, “अब मैं याहवेह की स्तुति करूंगी,” इसलिये उसने उस बेटे का नाम यहूदाह रखा. उसके बाद लियाह के बच्चे होने बंद हो गए.
Moreouer shee conceiued againe and bare a sonne, saying, Nowe will I prayse the Lord: therefore shee called his name Iudah, and left bearing.
