1 तब चौदह वर्ष बाद, मैं बारनबास के साथ दोबारा येरूशलेम गया. इस समय मैं तीतॉस को भी अपने साथ ले गया.
Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.
2 मैं एक ईश्वरीय प्रकाशन के उत्तर में वहां गया था और मैंने उनको वही ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार दिया, जिसका प्रचार मैं गैर-यहूदियों के बीच कर रहा हूं किंतु गुप्त रूप से, केवल नामी व्यक्तियों के बीच ही—इस भय से कि कहीं मेरी पिछली दौड़-धूप व्यर्थ न हो जाए.
I went up because of a revelation and set before them the gospel that I proclaim among the Gentiles. I spoke privately to those who seemed to be important, in order to make sure that I was not running—or had not run—in vain.
3 किसी ने भी मेरे साथी तीतॉस को ख़तना के लिए बाध्य नहीं किया, यद्यपि वह यूनानी है.
But not even Titus, who was with me and who was a Greek, was forced to be circumcised.
4 यह प्रश्न उन पाखंडियों के कारण उठा था, जो हमारे बीच चुपके से घुस आए थे कि मसीह येशु में हमारी स्वतंत्रता का भेद लें और हमें दासत्व में डाल दें.
The false brothers came in secretly to spy on the liberty we have in Christ Jesus. They desired to make us slaves,
5 हम एक क्षण के लिए भी उनके आगे न झुके कि तुममें विद्यमान ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार की सच्चाई सुरक्षित रहे.
but we did not yield in submission to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.
6 इसका मेरे लिए कोई महत्व नहीं कि वे, जो नामी थे, पहले क्या थे; परमेश्वर भेद-भाव करनेवाला नहीं हैं, मेरे संदेश में उन नामी व्यक्तियों का कोई योगदान नहीं था.
But those who seemed to be important (whatever they were does not matter to me, God shows no partiality)—those, I say, who seemed important added nothing to me.
7 इसके विपरीत जब उन्होंने यह देखा कि अख़तनितों के लिए ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार मुझे उसी प्रकार सौंपा गया जिस प्रकार ख़तनितों के लिए पेतरॉस को,
On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to those who are uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to those who are circumcised.
8 क्योंकि जिस परमेश्वर ने ख़तनितों के बीच पेतरॉस की प्रेरिताई की सेवा में प्रभावशाली रीति से काम किया, उन्होंने अख़तनितों के बीच प्रेरिताई की सेवा में मुझमें भी प्रभावशाली रीति से काम किया.
For God, who worked in Peter for the apostleship to those who are circumcised, also worked in me to the Gentiles.
9 मुझे मिले अनुग्रह को पहचानकर याकोब, कैफ़स तथा योहन ने, जो कलीसिया के स्तंभ के रूप में जाने जाते थे, बारनबास और मेरी ओर सहभागिता का दायां हाथ बढ़ाया कि हम गैर-यहूदियों में और वे ख़तनितों में जाएं.
When James, Cephas, and John, who were recognized as those who built up the church, understood the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me. They did this so that we should go to the Gentiles, and so that they should go to those who are circumcised.
10 उन्होंने हमसे सिर्फ यही विनती की कि हम निर्धनों की अनदेखी न करें—ठीक यही तो मैं भी चाहता था!
They requested only that we remember the poor, the very thing that I was eager to do.
11 जब कैफ़स अंतियोख़ नगर आए, मैंने उनके मुख पर उनका विरोध किया क्योंकि उनकी गलती साफ़-साफ़ थी.
But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face because he was declared to be in the wrong.
12 याकोब की ओर से कुछ लोगों के आने से पहले तो वह गैर-यहूदियों के साथ खान-पान में सम्मिलित होते थे किंतु याकोब के लोगों के यहां आने पर वह ख़तनितों के समूह के भय से अलग होकर गैर-यहूदियों से दूरी रखने लगे.
Before certain men came from James, Cephas was eating with the Gentiles. But when these men came, he stopped and kept away from the Gentiles. He was afraid of those who were demanding circumcision.
13 बाकी यहूदी भी उनके साथ इस कपट में शामिल हो गए, यहां तक कि बारनबास भी.
Also the rest of the Jews joined in this hypocrisy. Even Barnabas was led astray with them by their hypocrisy.
14 जब मैंने यह देखा कि उनका स्वभाव ईश्वरीय सुसमाचार के भेद के अनुसार नहीं है, मैंने सबके सामने कैफ़स से कहा, “यदि स्वयं यहूदी, होकर आपका स्वभाव यहूदियों के समान नहीं परंतु गैर-यहूदियों के समान है, तो आप गैर-यहूदियों को यहूदियों जैसे स्वभाव के लिए बाध्य कैसे कर सकते हो?
But when I saw that their behavior was not following the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of all of them, “If you are a Jew but are living like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”
15 “आप और मैं जन्म से यहूदी हैं—गैर-यहूदियों के पापी वंशज नहीं.
We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners;
16 फिर भी हम यह जानते हैं कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में मनुष्य मात्र मसीह येशु में विश्वास करने के द्वारा ही धर्मी ठहरता है, न कि व्यवस्था का पालन करने के द्वारा, इसलिये हमने भी मसीह येशु में विश्वास किया कि हम मसीह में विश्वास करने के द्वारा धर्मी ठहराए जाएं, न कि व्यवस्था का पालन करने के द्वारा—क्योंकि व्यवस्था का पालन करने से कोई भी मनुष्य धर्मी ठहराया नहीं जाता.
yet we know that no person is justified by the works of the law but through faith in Christ Jesus. We also came to faith in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law. For by the works of the law no flesh will be justified.
17 “किंतु, यदि हम मसीह में धर्मी ठहराए जाने के लिए प्रयास करने पर भी पापी ही पाए जाते हैं, तो क्या मसीह पाप के पालन पोषण करनेवाले हैं? बिलकुल नहीं!
But if, while we seek to be justified in Christ, we too, were found to be sinners, does Christ then promote sin? Absolutely not!
18 यदि मैं उसी को दोबारा बनाता हूं, जिसे मैंने गिरा दिया था, तो मैं स्वयं को ही अपराधी साबित करता हूं.
For if I rebuild those things I once destroyed, I prove myself to be a lawbreaker.
19 “क्योंकि व्यवस्था के द्वारा मैं व्यवस्था के लिए मर गया कि मैं परमेश्वर के लिए जीऊं.
For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live for God.
20 मैं मसीह के साथ क्रूस पर चढ़ाया जा चुका हूं. अब से वह, जो जीवित है, मैं नहीं परंतु मसीह हैं, जो मुझमें जीवित हैं. अब वह जीवन, जो मैं शरीर में जी रहा हूं, परमेश्वर के पुत्र में विश्वास करते हुए जी रहा हूं, जिन्होंने मुझसे प्रेम किया और स्वयं को मेरे लिए बलिदान कर दिया.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
21 मैं परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह को व्यर्थ नहीं कर रहा, क्योंकि यदि व्यवस्था धार्मिकता का कारण होता, तब मसीह का प्राण त्यागना व्यर्थ हो जाता!”
I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, then Christ died for nothing!
