यहेजकेल 33

1 याहवेह का वचन मेरे पास आया:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

2 “मनुष्य के पुत्र, अपने लोगों से बात करो और उनसे कहो: ‘जब मैं किसी देश पर तलवार चलाता हूं, और उस देश के लोग अपने एक व्यक्ति को चुनकर उसे अपना पहरेदार बनाते हैं,

'Son of man, speak unto the sons of thy people, and thou hast said unto them: A land — when I bring in against it a sword, And the people of the land have taken one man out of their borders, And made him to them for a watchman.

3 और वह देखता है कि देश के विरुद्ध तलवार चली आ रही है और वह तुरही फूंककर लोगों को चेतावनी देता है,

And he hath seen the sword coming against the land, And hath blown with a trumpet, and hath warned the people,

4 तब यदि कोई तुरही को सुनकर चेतावनी पर ध्यान नहीं देता है और तलवार आकर उनका प्राण ले लेती है, तो उसके खून का दोष उसी के सिर पर होगा.

And the hearer hath heard the voice of the trumpet, and he hath not taken warning, And come in doth the sword, and taketh him away, His blood is on his head.

5 जब उसने तुरही की आवाज सुनी परंतु उसने चेतावनी पर ध्यान नहीं दिया, इसलिये उसके खून का दोष उसी के सिर पर होगा. यदि वह चेतावनी पर ध्यान दिया होता, तो वह अपना प्राण बचा लेता.

The voice of the trumpet he heard, And he hath not taken warning, his blood is on him, And he who took warning his soul hath delivered.

6 पर यदि पहरेदार तलवार को आते हुए देखता है और लोगों को चेतावनी देने के लिये तुरही नहीं बजाता है और तलवार आकर किसी का प्राण ले लेती है, तो उसके पाप के कारण उस व्यक्ति का प्राण ले लिया जाएगा, पर मैं उसके खून के लिये उस पहरेदार को ज़िम्मेदार ठहराऊंगा.’

And the watchman, when he seeth the sword coming in, And he hath not blown with a trumpet, And the people hath not been warned, And come in doth a sword, And taketh away of them — a soul, He in his iniquity is taken away, And his blood from the hand of the watchman I require.

7 “हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, मैंने तुम्हें इस्राएल के लोगों के लिये एक पहरेदार ठहराया है; इसलिये जो बात मैं कहता हूं, उसे सुन और उन्हें मेरी ओर से चेतावनी दे.

And thou, son of man, A watchman I gave thee to the house of Israel, And thou hast heard from My mouth a word, And thou hast warned them from Me.

8 जब मैं दुष्ट मनुष्य से कहता हूं, ‘हे दुष्ट मनुष्य, तू निश्चय मरेगा,’ और तुम उस व्यक्ति को उसका जीवन बदलने के लिये नहीं कहते हो, तो वह व्यक्ति अपने पाप के कारण मरेगा, और मैं तुम्हें उसके खून के लिये ज़िम्मेदार ठहराऊंगा.

In My saying to the wicked, O wicked one — thou dost surely die, And thou hast not spoken to warn the wicked from his way, He — the wicked — in his iniquity doth die, And his blood from thy hand I require.

9 पर यदि तुम दुष्ट व्यक्ति को उसका जीवन बदलने की चेतावनी देते हो और वह अपना जीवन नहीं बदलता है, तो वह अपने पाप के कारण मरेगा, किंतु तुम स्वयं बच जाओगे.

And thou, when thou hast warned the wicked of his way, to turn back from it, And he hath not turned back from his way, He in his iniquity doth die, And thou thy soul hast delivered.

10 “हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, इस्राएलियों से कहो, ‘तुम यह कह रहे हो: “हमारे पाप और अपराध हमें नीचे गिराते हैं, और हम उनके कारण से बेकार हो रहे हैं. तब हम जीवित कैसे रह सकते हैं?”’

And thou, son of man, say unto the house of Israel: Rightly ye have spoken, saying: Surely our transgressions and our sins [are] on us, And in them we are wasting away, How, then, do we live?

11 उनसे कहो, ‘मेरे जीवन की शपथ, परम प्रधान याहवेह की घोषणा है, मैं दुष्ट की मृत्यु से खुश नहीं होता हूं, पर अच्छा यह होगा कि वह अपना जीवन बदले और जीवित रहे. छोड़ो! अपने दुष्ट जीवनशैली को छोड़ो! हे इस्राएल के लोगों, तुम क्यों मरोगे?’

Say unto them, I live — an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, I delight not in the death of the wicked, But — in the turning of the wicked from his way, And he hath lived, Turn back, turn back, from your evil ways, Yea, why do ye die, O house of Israel?

12 “इसलिये, हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, अपने लोगों से कहो, ‘यदि कोई धर्मी व्यक्ति आज्ञा नहीं मानता है, तो उसके पहले के धर्मीपन का कोई मतलब नहीं होगा. और यदि कोई दुष्ट व्यक्ति पश्चात्ताप करता है, तो उस व्यक्ति के पहले की दुष्टता के कारण उसे दंड नहीं मिलेगा. जो धर्मी व्यक्ति पाप करता है, वह जीवित नहीं रहेगा, यद्यपि वह पहले धर्मी था.’

And thou, son of man, say unto the sons of thy people: The righteousness of the righteous doth not deliver him in the day of his transgression, And the wickedness of the wicked, He doth not stumble for it in the day of his turning from his wickedness, And the righteous is not able to live in it in the day of his sinning.

13 यदि मैं किसी धर्मी व्यक्ति से कहता हूं कि वह निश्चय जीवित रहेगा, पर तब वह अपने धर्मीपन पर भरोसा करके दुष्टता करने लगता है, तब उसके द्वारा किया गया कोई भी धर्मीपन का काम याद नहीं किया जाएगा; वह अपने किए गये दुष्ट काम के कारण मरेगा.

In My saying of the righteous: He surely liveth, And — he hath trusted on his righteousness, And he hath done perversity, All his righteous acts are not remembered, And for his perversity that he hath done, For it he doth die.

14 और यदि मैं किसी दुष्ट व्यक्ति को यह कहता हूं, ‘तुम निश्चय मरोगे,’ पर तब वह अपने पाप से मन फिराता है और वही करता है जो सही और न्याय संगत है—

And in My saying to the wicked: Thou surely diest, And — he hath turned back from his sin, And hath done judgment and righteousness,

15 यदि वह कर्जा देने के बदले रखे गये बंधक की वस्तु को लौटा देता है, चोरी की वस्तु को लौटा देता है, जीवन देनेवाले नियमों का पालन करता है, और दुष्टता नहीं करता—तब वह व्यक्ति निश्चय जीवित रहेगा; वह नहीं मरेगा.

(The pledge the wicked restoreth, plunder he repayeth, ) In the statutes of life he hath walked, So as not to do perversity, He surely liveth — he doth not die.

16 उसके द्वारा किया गया कोई भी पाप याद किया नहीं जाएगा. उसने सही और न्याय संगत काम किया है; वह निश्चय जीवित रहेगा.

None of his sin that he hath sinned is remembered to him, Judgment and righteousness he hath done, He doth surely live.

17 “फिर भी तुम्हारे लोग कहते हैं, ‘प्रभु की नीति न्याय संगत नहीं है.’ पर यह उनकी नीति है जो न्याय संगत नहीं है.

And the sons of thy people have said: The way of the Lord is not pondered, As to them — their way is not pondered.

18 यदि कोई धर्मी व्यक्ति अपने धर्मीपन को छोड़कर दुष्ट काम करता है, तब वह अपने दुष्ट काम के कारण मरेगा.

In the turning back of the righteous from his righteousness, And he hath done perversity — he dieth for it.

19 और यदि कोई दुष्ट व्यक्ति अपनी दुष्टता को छोड़कर सही और न्याय संगत काम करता है, तब वह अपने इन कामों के कारण जीवित रहेगा.

And in the turning back of the wicked from his wickedness, And he hath done judgment and righteousness, by them he liveth.

20 तौभी तुम इस्राएली कहते हो, ‘प्रभु की नीति न्याय संगत नहीं है.’ पर मैं तुममें से हर एक का न्याय उसके कामों के अनुसार करूंगा.”

And ye have said: The way of the Lord is not pondered, Each according to his ways do I judge you, O house of Israel.'

21 हमारे बंधुआई के बारहवें वर्ष के, दसवें माह के पांचवें दिन, एक व्यक्ति जो येरूशलेम से बच निकला था, मेरे पास आकर कहा, “शहर का पतन हो गया है!”

And it cometh to pass, in the twelfth year — in the tenth [month], in the fifth of the month — of our removal, come in unto me doth one who is escaped from Jerusalem, saying, 'The city hath been smitten.'

22 उस व्यक्ति के आने के पूर्व संध्या पर, याहवेह का हाथ मुझ पर था, और उसने मेरा मुंह उस व्यक्ति सामने खोला, जो सुबह मेरे पास आया. इस प्रकार मेरा मुंह खुल गया और मैं फिर चुप न रहा.

And the hand of Jehovah hath been unto me in the evening, before the coming in of the escaped one, and He openeth my mouth till the coming in unto me in the morning, and opened is my mouth, and I have not been silent again.

23 तब याहवेह का वचन मेरे पास आया:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

24 “हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, वे लोग, जो इस्राएल देश के खंडहरों में रह रहे हैं, वे कह रहे हैं, ‘अब्राहाम तो सिर्फ एक व्यक्ति था, फिर भी उसने देश पर अधिकार किया; पर हम तो बहुत हैं; निश्चय ही यह देश हमें अधिकार करने के लिये दिया गया है.’

'Son of man, the inhabitants of these wastes on the ground of Israel are speaking, saying: Alone hath been Abraham — and he possesseth the land, and we [are] many — to us hath the land been given for a possession.

25 इसलिये उनसे कहो, ‘परम प्रधान याहवेह का यह कहना है: जब तुम मांस को खून सहित खाते हो, और अपनी मूर्तियों की ओर दृष्टि करके खून करते हो, तब क्या तुम्हें उस देश पर अधिकार करना चाहिये?

Therefore say unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: With the blood ye do eat, And your eyes ye lift up unto your idols, And blood ye shed, and the land ye inherit!

26 तुम अपने तलवार पर निर्भर रहते हो, तुम घृणित काम करते हो, और तुममें से हर एक अपने पड़ोसी की पत्नी को अशुद्ध करता है. तब क्या तुम्हें उस देश पर अधिकार करना चाहिये?’

Ye have stood on your sword, Ye have done abomination, Each the wife of his neighbour ye have defiled, And the land ye possess!

27 “उनसे यह कहो: ‘परम प्रधान याहवेह का यह कहना है: मैं अपने जीवन की शपथ खाकर कहता हूं, जो इस समय खंडहरों में रह रहे हैं, वे तलवार से मारे जाएंगे, जो खुले मैदान में हैं, उन्हें मैं जंगली जानवरों का आहार होने के लिये दे दूंगा, और जो दृढ़ गढ़ों और गुफाओं में हैं, वे महामारी से मारे जाएंगे.

Thus dost thou say unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: I live — do not they who [are] in the wastes by the sword fall? And they who [are] on the face of the field, To the beast I have given for food, And they who are in strongholds and in caves by pestilence die.

28 मैं उस देश को उजाड़ एवं निर्जन बना दूंगा, और उसके घमंड से भरे बल का अंत हो जाएगा, और इस्राएल के पर्वत सुनसान हो जाएंगे, जिससे कोई भी उनमें से होकर नहीं जाएगा.

And I have made the land a desolation and an astonishment, And ceased hath the excellency of its strength, And desolated have been mountains of Israel, Without any one passing through.

29 उनके द्वारा किए गये सब घृणित कामों के कारण जब मैं उस देश को उजाड़ एवं निर्जन बना दूंगा, तब वे जानेंगे कि मैं याहवेह हूं.’

And they have known that I [am] Jehovah, In My making the land a desolation and an astonishment, For all their abominations that they have done.

30 “हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, जहां तक तुम्हारा सवाल है, तुम्हारे लोग तुम्हारे विषय में दीवारों के किनारे और घर के दरवाजों पर बात करते हुए एक दूसरे से यह कह रहे हैं, ‘आओ और उस संदेश को सुनो, जो याहवेह से आया है.’

And thou, son of man, the sons of thy people who are speaking about thee, By the walls, and in openings of the houses, Have spoken one with another, each with his brother, Saying: Come in, I pray you, And hear what [is] the word that cometh out from Jehovah.

31 मेरे लोग तुम्हारे पास आते हैं, जैसा कि वे सामान्यतः करते हैं, और वे तुम्हारा वचन सुनने के लिये तुम्हारे सामने बैठते हैं, पर वे उन वचनों के अनुसार नहीं चलते हैं, वे मुंह से प्रेम की बातें तो करते हैं, पर उनका मन अन्याय की कमाई में लगा रहता है.

And they come in unto thee as the coming in of a people, And they sit before thee — My people, And have heard thy words, and they do them not, For doting loves with their mouth they are making, After their dishonest gain their heart is going.

32 वास्तव में, तुम उनके लिये एक ऐसे व्यक्ति हो, जो सुरिली आवाज में प्रेम गीत गाता है और अच्छा बाजा बजाता है, इससे बढ़कर तुम उनके लिये कुछ नहीं हो, क्योंकि वे तुम्हारे वचन को तो सुनते हैं पर उसके अनुसार नहीं चलते हैं.

And lo, thou [art] to them as a singer of doting loves, A pleasant voice, and playing well on an instrument, And they have heard thy words, and they are not doing them.

33 “जब यह सब घटित होगा—और यह अवश्य ही घटित होगा—तब वे जानेंगे कि उनके बीच एक भविष्यवक्ता आया था.”

And in its coming in — lo, it hath come, And they have known that a prophet hath been in their midst!'
