1 याहवेह का वचन मेरे पास आया:

2 “हे मनुष्य के पुत्र, सोर के लिए एक विलापगीत लो.

tu ergo fili hominis adsume super Tyrum lamentum

3 सोर से कहो, जो समुद्र के प्रवेश द्वार पर बसा है और बहुत से समुद्रतट पर लोगों का व्यापारी है, ‘परम प्रधान याहवेह का यह कहना है: “‘हे सोर, तुम कहते हो, “मैं पूरी तरह सुंदर हूं.”

4 तुम्हारी सीमा समुद्र के गर्भ तक थी; तुम्हें बनाने वालों ने तुम्हें पूरी तरह सुंदर बनाया.

5 उन्होंने तुम्हारी सब इमारती लकड़ी सेनीर पहाड़ के सनौवर के पेड़ों से ली हैं; उन्होंने तुम्हारे लिये एक मस्तूल बनाने के लिये लबानोन के देवदार की लकड़ी का उपयोग किया है.

6 तुम्हारे पतवारों के लिए उन्होंने बाशान के बांज वृक्षों की लकड़ी का उपयोग किया है; तुम्हारे पानी जहाज़ का छत कित्तिम समुद्रतट के चीड़ वृक्ष का है, जिसे हाथी-दांत से सजाया गया है.

7 तुम्हारे जहाज़ का पाल मिस्र देश के सुंदर कसीदा किए हुए मलमल के कपड़े का था, और यह तुम्हारे ध्वज के रूप में काम करता था; तुम्हारा तिरपाल (चांदनी) एलिशाह के समुद्रतट का था, जिसका रंग नीला और बैंगनी था.

9 जहाज़ के जोड़ों को ठीक करने के लिये जहाज़ पर गेबल के अनुभवी शिल्पकार जहाज़ के शिल्पी के रूप में थे. समुद्र के सारे जहाज़ और उनके नाविक तुम्हारे व्यापारिक माल का लेनदेन करने के लिये तुम्हारे साथ थे.

10 “‘तुम्हारी सेना में परसिया, लूद और पूत के लोग शामिल थे. उन्होंने तुम्हारी शोभा बढ़ाते हुए, अपनी ढाल और टोप दीवारों पर टांग दिये थे.

11 आरवद और हेलेक के लोग चारों तरफ से तुम्हारी दीवारों का पहरा दिये; गम्माद के लोग तुम्हारे स्तंभों पर थे. उन्होंने अपनी ढालें तुम्हारी दीवारों पर टांग दी; उन्होंने तुम्हारी सुंदरता में चार चांद लगाया.

15 “‘रोडीस के लोग तुमसे व्यापार करते थे, और समुद्रतट के बहुतेरे देश तुम्हारे ग्राहक थे; वे अपना भुगतान हाथी-दांत और आबनूस (तेंदू) की लकड़ी देकर करते थे.

16 “‘तुम्हारे पास सामानों की अधिकता के कारण, अराम ने तुमसे व्यापार किया; वे तुम्हारी वस्तुओं के मूल्य के बदले तुम्हें हरित नीलमणि, बैंगनी रंग के कपड़े, कसीदा किए हुए कपड़े, अच्छे किस्म के मलमल कपड़े, मूंगा और लाल रत्न देते थे.

27 तुम्हारी संपत्ति, व्यापारिक सामान और वस्तुएं, तुम्हारे नाविक, जहाज़ चलानेवाले और जहाज़ बनानेवाले, तुम्हारे व्यापारी और तुम्हारे सब सैनिक, और जहाज़ के सारे लोग उस दिन समुद्र की गहराई में डूब जाएंगे जब तुम्हारा जहाज़ टूट जाएगा.

28 तुम्हारे जहाज़ चलानेवालों की चिल्लाहट से समुद्रतट कांप उठेगा;

29 पतवार चलानेवाले सबके सब अपने जहाजों को छोड़ देंगे, मल्लाह और जहाज़ को चलानेवाले सबके सब जहाज़ से उतरकर समुद्रतट पर खड़े हो जाएंगे.

et descendent de navibus suis omnes qui tenebant remum nautae et universi gubernatores maris in terra stabunt

30 वे तुम्हारे कारण चिल्लाएंगे और बिलख-बिलखकर रोएंगे; वे अपने सिर पर धूल छिड़क कर राख में लोटेंगे.

et heiulabunt super te voce magna et clamabunt amare et superiacient pulverem capitibus suis et cinere conspergentur

31 वे तुम्हारे कारण अपना सिर मुंड़ा लेंगे और टाट का कपड़ा पहनेंगे. वे मन की वेदना और भारी शोक से तुम्हारे विषय रोएंगे.

et radent super te calvitium et accingentur ciliciis et plorabunt te in amaritudine animae ploratu amarissimo

32 जब वे तुम्हारे विषय में बहुत रोएंगे और शोक मनाएंगे, तो वे तुम्हारे विषय एक विलापगीत गाएंगे: “कौन समुद्र से घिरे हुए सोर के समान चुप था?”

33 जब तुम्हारे व्यापार का माल समुद्र में होकर जाता था, तो उससे तुम बहुत सी जाति के लोगों को संतुष्ट करते थे; अपनी अपार संपत्ति और व्यापारिक माल से तुमने पृथ्वी के राजाओं को समृद्ध कर दिया.

35 समुद्रतट पर सब रहनेवाले तुम्हारी दशा देख डर गये हैं; उनके राजा तो आतंक से कांपते हैं और डर से उनके चेहरे का रंग उड़ गया है.

36 जनता के बीच जो व्यापारी है, वे तुम्हारी खिल्ली उड़ाते हैं; तुम्हारा एक डरावना अंत हो गया है और तुम्हारा अस्तित्व अब नहीं रहेगा.’”
