1 “इस्राएल के राजकुमारों के संबंध में एक विलापगीत लो
And thou, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,
2 और कहो: “‘सिंहों के मध्य क्या ही एक सिंहनी थी तुम्हारी माता! वह उनके बीच रहती थी और अपने बच्चों (शावकों) का पालन पोषण करती थी.
and say, What was thy mother? A lioness: she lay down among lions, she nourished her whelps in the midst of the young lions.
3 उसने अपने बच्चों में से एक को पालकर बड़ा किया, और वह एक बलवान सिंह हो गया. वह शिकार को फाड़ डालना सीख गया और वह एक नर-भक्षी बन गया.
And she brought up one of her whelps; it became a young lion, and he learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.
4 जाति-जाति के लोगों ने उसके बारे में सुना, और वह उनके द्वारा खोदे गए गड्ढे में गिरकर फंस गया. वे उस पर नकेल डालकर मिस्र देश ले गये.
And the nations heard of him; he was taken in their pit, and they brought him with nose-rings into the land of Egypt.
5 “‘जब सिंहनी ने देखा कि उसकी आशा पूरी नहीं हुई, और उसकी उम्मीद जाती रही, तो उसने अपने एक और बच्चे को लिया और उसे एक बलवान सिंह बनाया.
And when she saw that she had waited [and] her hope was lost, she took another of her whelps, [and] made him a young lion.
6 वह अन्य सिंहों के बीच चलने फिरने लगा, क्योंकि अब वह एक बलवान सिंह बन चुका था. वह शिकार को फाड़ डालना सीख गया और वह एक नर-भक्षी बन गया.
And he went up and down among the lions; he became a young lion, and learned to catch the prey; he devoured men.
7 उसने उनके एक दृढ़ गढ़ को तोड़ डाला और उनके नगरों को उजाड़ दिया. पूरा देश और उसमें रहनेवाले सबके सब उसके गर्जन से भयभीत होते थे.
And he knew their [desolate] palaces, and he laid waste their cities, so that the land was desolate, and all it contained, by the noise of his roaring.
8 तब उसके चारों तरफ के जाति-जाति के लोग उसके विरुद्ध हो गए. उन्होंने उसके लिये जाल बिछाया, और वह उनके द्वारा खोदे गए गड्ढे में फंस गया.
Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and spread their net over him; he was taken in their pit.
9 उन्होंने नकेल डालकर उसे ऊपर खींचा और उसे एक पिंजरे में डाल दिया और उसे बाबेल के राजा के पास ले आए. उन्होंने उसे बंदी बनाकर रखा, जिससे उसका गर्जन इस्राएल देश के पर्वतों पर फिर कभी सुनाई नहीं दिया.
And they put him in a cage with nose-rings, and brought him to the king of Babylon; they brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
10 “‘तुम्हारी माता पानी के किनारे लगाये गए अंगूर की बारी में अंगूर की एक लता की तरह थी; पानी की अधिकता के कारण उसमें फल लगते थे और वह शाखाओं से भरी हुई थी.
Thy mother was as a vine, in thy rest, planted by the waters: it was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.
11 उसकी शाखाएं मजबूत थी, और एक शासन करनेवाले के राजदंड के लिये उपयुक्त थी. घने पत्तियों के ऊपर यह बहुत ऊंची थी, अपनी ऊंचाई और बहुत सी शाखाओं के कारण यह महत्वपूर्ण थी.
And it had strong rods for sceptres of them that bear rule, and its stature was exalted between the thick boughs; and it was conspicuous by its height with the multitude of its branches.
12 परंतु उसे क्रोध में उखाड़ दिया गया और भूमि पर फेंक दिया गया. पूर्वी हवा ने उसे सूखा दिया, उसके फल गिर गये; उसकी मजबूत शाखाएं सूख गईं और आग ने उन्हें जलाकर नष्ट कर दिया.
But it was plucked up in fury, it was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit; its strong rods were broken and withered; the fire consumed them.
13 अब उसे निर्जन प्रदेश में लगाया गया है, एक सूखी और प्यासी भूमि पर.
And now it is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground:
14 उसकी एक मुख्य शाखा से आग फैली और उसके फलों को जलाकर नष्ट कर दिया. उसमें और कोई मजबूत शाखा नहीं बची जो शासन करनेवाले के राजदंड के लिये उपयुक्त हो.’ यह एक विलापगीत है और इसे एक विलापगीत के रूप में उपयोग करना है.”
and a fire is gone out of a rod of its branches, [which] hath devoured its fruit; so that it hath no strong rod to be a sceptre for ruling. This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.
