व्यवस्था विवरण 19
1 जब याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर जनताओं को नाश करेंगे, जिनकी भूमि याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हें प्रदान कर रहे हैं, जिस भूमि से तुम उन्हें दूर कर दोगे, और उनके नगरों और घरों में जा बसोगे,
When the Lord thy God shall have cut off the nations, whose land the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou hast driven them out, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses:
2 तुम्हें उस देश में, जो याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हें अधिकार करने के उद्देश्य से दे रहे हैं, अपने लिए तीन नगर अलग कर देने होंगे.
Then shalt thou set apart three cities for thyself, in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
3 तुम्हें अपने लिए मार्गों का निर्माण करना होगा. तुम पूरे भाग को, जो याहवेह तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हें संपत्ति के रूप में प्रदान करेंगे, तीन भागों में बांटोगे, जिससे की हत्यारा पलायन कर यहां शरण ले सके.
Thou shalt put in order for thyself the [way to them], and divide into three parts the territory of thy land, which the Lord thy God will give thee to inherit, and it shall serve, that every man-slayer may flee thither.
4 उस व्यक्ति के लिए, जो पलायन कर इन नगरों में आश्रय लेता है, कि वह जीवित रह सके, विधान यह है: यदि किसी व्यक्ति से अपने साथी की हत्या जानबूझकर नहीं होती, जिसके हृदय में उस साथी के प्रति घृणा नहीं थी.
And this is the case of the man-slayer, who shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso smiteth his neighbor without knowledge, when he hath not been an enemy to him in time past;
5 उदाहरणार्थ, जब कोई व्यक्ति अपने साथी के साथ कुल्हाड़ी ले वन में लकड़ी काटने गया हो, वह लकड़ी काटने के लिए कुल्हाड़ी का वार करता है और उसी समय कुल्हाड़ी बेंट से निकलकर उस साथी को जा लगती है, और उसकी मृत्यु हो जाती है, वह व्यक्ति पलायन कर इनमें से किसी एक नगर को चला जाए, कि उसके प्राण सुरक्षित रह सकें.
And he that goeth into the forest with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the iron slippeth from the helve, and striketh his neighbor, that he die: this one shall flee unto one of these cities, and live;
6 नहीं तो, हत्या का बदला लेनेवाला क्रोध में उसका पीछा करे और मार्ग लंबा होने के कारण उसे पकड़कर उसकी हत्या ही कर डाले-जबकि वह मृत्यु दंड के योग्य नहीं था, क्योंकि उसके मन में मृतक के प्रति कोई बैर था ही नहीं.
That the avenger of the blood pursue not the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and smite him dead; whereas he deserveth not a judgment of death, inasmuch as he was not an enemy to him in time past.
7 तब मेरा यह आदेश है, तुम्हें अपने लिए इस उद्देश्य से तीन नगर अलग करना ज़रूरी है.
Therefore do I command thee, saying, Three cities shalt thou set apart for thyself.
8 यदि याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हारी सीमा का आवर्धन करें; ठीक जैसी प्रतिज्ञा उन्होंने पूर्वजों से शपथ के साथ की थी, और वह तुम्हें वे सारे देश दे देते हैं,
And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy boundary, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he hath spoken to give unto thy fathers;
9 यदि तुम सावधानीपूर्वक इस पूरा आदेश का पालन करते हो, जो आज मैं तुम्हें दे रहा हूं—याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर से प्रेम करो और हमेशा उन्हीं की नीतियों का पालन करते रहो—तो तुम इन तीन नगरों के अलावा तीन अन्य नगर भी शामिल कर लोगे.
Because thou dost keep all this commandment to do it, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk in his ways all the days: then shalt thou add for thyself three cities more, unto these three;
10 परिणामस्वरूप तुम्हारे देश में, जो याहवेह तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हें मीरास-स्वरूप प्रदान कर रहे हैं, तुम पर मनुष्य हत्या का दोष न आ पड़े और तुम्हारे बीच में किसी निर्दोष को मृत्यु दंड न दे दिया जाए.
That innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and blood-guiltiness be brought upon thee.
11 मगर यदि कोई व्यक्ति अपने पड़ोसी के प्रति बैर के कारण घात लगाकर बैठकर उस पर प्रहार करके उसकी मृत्यु हो जाती है, तब वह इनमें से किसी एक नगर को पलायन कर जाता है,
But if any man be an enemy to his neighbor, and he lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally so that he die, and he flee unto one of these cities:
12 तब नगर के पुरनिए उसे वहां से लेकर मृत्यु दंड के लिए हत्या का बदला लेनेवाले को सौंप देंगे.
Then shall the elders of his city send and fetch him thence, and they shall deliver him into the hand of the avenger of the blood, that he may die.
13 तुम उस पर ज़रा भी कृपा नहीं करोगे. तुम्हें इस्राएल राष्ट्र में से निर्दोष की हत्या को शुद्ध करते हुए उसका दोष दूर करना है, कि तुम्हारा भला हो.
Thy eye shall not look with pity on him; but thou shalt put away the [shedding of] innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
14 उस देश में, जो याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हें मीरास के रूप में दे रहे हैं, कि तुम इस पर अधिकार कर लो, तुम अपने पड़ोसी की उन सीमा-चिन्हों के साथ छेड़-छाड़ नहीं करोगे, जो पहले ही उनके पूर्वजों द्वारा तय की जा चुकी थी.
Thou shalt not remove the landmark of thy neighbor, which they of old time have set, in thy inheritance which thou shalt inherit, in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.
15 किसी व्यक्ति द्वारा किए गए किसी भी पाप के काम या पाप के बारे में सिर्फ एक व्यक्ति का गवाह होना स्वीकार नहीं हो सकता; एक बात की पुष्टि के लिए दो या तीन गवाहों की ज़रूरत होती है.
There shall not rise up one single witness against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: upon the evidence of two witnesses, or upon the evidence of three witnesses, must a case be established.
16 यदि कोई झूठा गवाह उठकर किसी पर किसी गलत काम का आरोप लगाए,
If a witness of violence rise up against any man to testify against him for any wrong:
17 तो दोनों विवादी याहवेह के सामने और उन पुरोहितों और न्यायाध्यक्षों के सामने उपस्थित होंगे, जो उस अवसर पर न्यायी होंगे.
Then shall both the men, who have the controversy, stand before the Lord, before the priests and the judges, who shall be in those days;
18 न्यायाध्यक्ष बारीकी से पूछताछ करेंगे और यदि यह मालूम हो जाए, कि वह झूठा गवाह है और उसने अपने भाई पर झूठा आरोप लगाया है,
And the judges shall inquire diligently; and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, he hath testified a falsehood against his brother:
19 तब तुम उसके साथ वही करोगे, जो उसके भाई के प्रति उसकी मंशा थी. अपने बीच की बुराई तुम इसी तरह से निकालोगे.
Then shall ye do unto him, as he had purposed to do unto his brother; and thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.
20 बाकी लोग यह सुनकर डर जाएंगे और ऐसी स्थिति तुम्हारे बीच फिर कभी न होगी.
And those who remain shall hear, and be afraid, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil thing in the midst of thee.
21 इस विषय में कृपा दिखाई न जाए: प्राण का बदला प्राण से, आंख का आंख से, दांत का दांत से, हाथ का हाथ से, पैर का पैर से किया जाए.
And thy eye shall have no pity; but life [shall go] for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
