आमोस 5
1 हे इस्राएल के वंशज, तुमसे संबंधित मेरे इस विलापगीत को सुनो:
Hear this word, a lamentation, which I take up against you, O house of Israel.
2 “कुमारी कन्या इस्राएल का ऐसा गिरना हुआ है, कि अब उसका पुनः उठ खड़ा होना असंभव है, वह अपने ही देश में उपेक्षित हो गई, और उसको उठानेवाला कोई नहीं है.”
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more arise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 प्रभु याहवेह का इस्राएल को यह कहना है: “तुम्हारा शहर, जो एक हजार योद्धाओं को लेकर आगे बढ़ता है उसमें से सिर्फ एक सौ ही बचेंगे; तुम्हारा नगर, जो सौ योद्धाओं को लेकर आगे बढ़ता है उसमें से सिर्फ दस ही बचेंगे.”
For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, for the house of Israel.
4 इस्राएल वंश के लिए याहवेह का यह कहना है: “मेरी खोज करो और जीवित रहो;
For thus saith Jehovah unto the house of Israel: Seek ye me, and ye shall live.
5 बेथेल की खोज न करना, गिलगाल में प्रवेश न करना. बेअरशेबा की यात्रा पर न जाना. क्योंकि यह निश्चित है कि गिलगाल निवासी बंधुआई में जायेंगे, तथा बेथेल की विपत्तियों का अंत न होगा.”
And seek not Bethel, neither go to Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
6 याहवेह की खोज करो और जीवित रहो, नहीं तो वह योसेफ़ के गोत्रों पर आग के समान भड़केगा; यह उन्हें भस्म कर देगा, और इसे बुझानेवाला बेथेल में कोई न होगा.
Seek Jehovah, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour [it], and there be none to quench [it] in Bethel.
7 ऐसे लोग हैं जो न्याय को बिगाड़ते हैं और धर्मीपन को मिट्टी में मिला देते हैं.
Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,
8 जिसने कृतिका तथा मृगशीर्ष नक्षत्रों की सृष्टि की, जो मध्य रात्रि को भोर में बदल देते हैं तथा दिन को रात्रि में, जो महासागर के जल का बुलाते हैं और फिर उसे पृथ्वी के ऊपर उंडेल देते हैं— याहवेह है उनका नाम.
[seek him] that made the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: Jehovah is his name.
9 पलक झपकते ही वे किले को नाश कर देते हैं और गढ़वाले शहर का विनाश कर देते हैं.
He causeth destruction to break forth suddenly upon the strong, and bringeth destruction upon the fortress.
10 ऐसे लोग हैं जो अदालत में न्याय का पक्ष लेनेवाले से घृणा करते हैं और सत्य बोलनेवाले को तुच्छ समझते हैं.
They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 तुम निर्धनों के भूंसा पर भी कर लेते हो और उनके अन्न पर कर लगाते हो. इसलिये, यद्यपि तुमने पत्थर की हवेलियां बनाई है, पर तुम उनमें निवास न कर सकोगे; यद्यपि तुमने रसदार अंगूर की बारियां लगाई हैं, पर तुम उनका दाखरस पी न सकोगे.
Forasmuch, therefore, as ye trample upon the poor, and take from him presents of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, and ye shall not drink the wine of them.
12 क्योंकि मैं जानता हूं कि तुम्हारे अपराध कितने ज्यादा हैं और तुमने कितने गंभीर पाप किए हैं. ऐसे लोग हैं जो निर्दोष पर अत्याचार करते और घूस लेते हैं तथा निर्धन को न्यायालय में न्याय पाने से वंचित कर देते हैं.
For I know how manifold are your transgressions and your sins mighty: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside [the right of] the needy in the gate.
13 तब समझदार ऐसे समय में चुपचाप रहते हैं, क्योंकि यह समय बुरा है.
Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in this time; for it is an evil time.
14 बुराई नहीं, पर भलाई करो, कि तुम जीवित रहो. तब याहवेह सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर तुम्हारे साथ रहेंगे, जैसा कि तुम्हारा दावा है कि वह तुम्हारे साथ हैं.
Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so Jehovah, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye say.
15 बुराई से घृणा और भलाई से प्रीति रखो; अदालत में न्याय को बनाए रखो. शायद याहवेह सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर योसेफ़ के बचे हुओं पर कृपा करें.
Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 इसलिये प्रभु, याहवेह सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर का यह कहना है: “सब गलियों में विलाप होगा और सब चौराहों पर पीड़ा से रोने की आवाज सुनाई देगी. किसानों को रोने के लिये और विलाप करनेवालों को विलाप करने के लिये बुलाया जाएगा.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all broadways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! alas! And they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 अंगूर की सब बारियों में विलाप होगा, क्योंकि उस समय स्वयं मैं तुम्हारे बीच से होकर निकलूंगा,” याहवेह का यह कहना है.
And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.
18 धिक्कार है तुम पर, जो तुम याहवेह के दिन की अभिलाषा करते हो! तुम याहवेह के दिन की अभिलाषा क्यों करते हो? यह दिन प्रकाश नहीं, अंधकार लेकर आएगा.
Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! To what end is the day of Jehovah for you? It shall be darkness and not light:
19 यह वैसा ही होगा जैसे कोई व्यक्ति सिंह से प्राण बचाकर भाग रहा हो और भागते हुए उसका सामना भालू से हो जाए, अथवा वह घर के अंदर पहुंचे, और आराम के लिए दीवार पर हाथ रखे और वहीं उसे एक सर्प डस ले.
as if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 क्या यह सत्य नहीं कि याहवेह का दिन प्रकाश का नहीं, अंधकार का दिन होगा— घोर अंधकार, प्रकाश की एक किरण भी नहीं?
Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 “मैं तुम्हारे उत्सवों से घृणा करता हूं, उन्हें तुच्छ समझता हूं; तुम्हारी सभाएं मेरे लिए एक दुर्गंध के समान हैं.
I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will not smell [a sweet odour] in your solemn assemblies.
22 भले ही तुम मुझे होमबलि और अन्नबलि चढ़ाओ, पर मैं उन्हें स्वीकार नहीं करूंगा. भले ही तुम मुझे अपना मनपसंद मेल बलि चढ़ाओ, पर मेरे लिये उनका कोई मतलब नहीं होगा.
For if ye offer up unto me burnt-offerings and your oblations, I will not accept [them]; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fatted beasts.
23 दूर रखो मुझसे अपने गीतों का शोरगुल! मैं तुम्हारे वीणा के संगीत को नहीं सुनूंगा.
Take away from me the noise of thy songs, and I will not hear the melody of thy lutes;
24 पर न्याय को नदी के समान, तथा धर्मीपन को कभी न सूखनेवाले सोते के समान बहने दो!
but let judgment roll down as waters, and righteousness as an ever-flowing stream.
25 “हे इस्राएल के वंशजों, निर्जन प्रदेश में चालीस साल तक क्या तुमने मुझे बलिदान और भेंट चढ़ाया?
Did ye bring unto me sacrifices and oblations in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 तुमने अपने साथ राजा की समाधि, अपने मूर्तियों की पीठिका, अपने देवता का तारा लिये फिरते हो— जिन्हें तुमने अपने लिये बनाया है.
Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of your Moloch, and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye had made to yourselves;
27 इसलिये मैं तुम्हें दमेशेक से भी बाहर बंधुआई में भेजूंगा,” याहवेह का यह कहना है, जिनका नाम सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर है.
and I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith Jehovah, whose name is the God of hosts.
