प्रेरितों के काम 26

1 इसलिये राजा अग्रिप्पा ने पौलॉस को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, “तुम्हें अपना पक्ष प्रस्तुत करने की आज्ञा है.” इसलिये पौलॉस ने एक बोलनेवाले की मुद्रा में हाथ उठाते हुए अपने बचाव में कहना शुरू किया.

And Agrippa said to Paul, “It is permitted to you to speak for yourself”; then Paul having stretched forth the hand, was making a defense:

2 “महाराज अग्रिप्पा, आज मैं स्वयं को धन्य मान रहा हूं, जो मैं यहां यहूदियों द्वारा लगाए गए आरोपों के विरुद्ध उत्तर देनेवाले के रूप में आपके सामने खड़ा हुआ हूं.

“Concerning all things of which I am accused by Jews, King Agrippa, I have thought myself blessed, being about to make a defense before you today,

3 विशेष रूप से इसलिये भी कि आप यहूदी प्रथाओं तथा समस्याओं को भली-भांति जानते हैं. इसलिये मैं आपसे विनती करता हूं कि आप मेरा पक्ष धीरज से सुनें.

especially knowing you to be acquainted with all things—both customs and questions—among Jews; for this reason, I implore you to hear me patiently.

4 “मेरे देश तथा येरूशलेम में सभी यहूदी मेरी युवावस्था से लेकर अब तक की जीवनशैली से अच्छी तरह से परिचित हैं.

The manner of my life then, indeed, from youth—which from the beginning was among my nation, in Jerusalem—all the Jews know,

5 इसलिये कि लंबे समय से वे मुझसे परिचित हैं, वे चाहें तो, इस सच्चाई की गवाही भी दे सकते हैं कि मैंने फ़रीसी संप्रदाय के अनुरूप, जो कट्टरतम मत है, जीवन जिया है.

knowing me before from the first (if they may be willing to testify), that after the most exact sect of our worship, I lived a Pharisee;

6 आज मैं परमेश्वर द्वारा हमारे पूर्वजों को दी गई प्रतिज्ञा की आशा के कारण यहां दोषी के रूप में खड़ा हूं.

and now for the hope of the promise made to the fathers by God, I have stood judged,

7 यह वही प्रतिज्ञा है, जिसके पूरे होने की आशा हमारे बारह गोत्र दिन-रात सच्चाई में परमेश्वर की सेवा-उपासना करते हुए कर रहे हैं. महाराज, आज मुझ पर यहूदियों द्वारा मुकद्दमा इसी आशा के कारण चलाया जा रहा है.

to which our twelve tribes, intently serving night and day, hope to come, concerning which hope I am accused, King Agrippa, by the Jews;

8 किसी के लिए भला यह अविश्वसनीय क्यों है कि परमेश्वर मरे हुओं को जीवित करते हैं?

why is it judged incredible with you if God raises the dead?

9 “मेरी अपनी मान्यता भी यही थी कि नाज़रेथवासी येशु के नाम के विरोध में मुझे बहुत कुछ करना ज़रूरी है.

I indeed, therefore, thought with myself that it was necessary [for me] to do many things against the Name of Jesus of Nazareth,

10 येरूशलेम में मैंने ठीक यही किया भी. प्रधान पुरोहितों से अधिकार पत्र लेकर मैं अनेक शिष्यों को कारागार में डाल देता था, जब उनकी हत्या की जाती थी तो उसमें मेरी भी सम्मति होती थी.

which I also did in Jerusalem, and I shut up many of the holy ones in prison, having received the authority from the chief priests; they also being put to death, I gave my vote against them,

11 अक्सर सभी यहूदी आराधनालयों में जाकर मैं उन्हें दंडित करते हुए मसीह येशु की निंदा के लिए बाध्य करने का प्रयास भी करता था और क्रोध में पागल होकर मैं उनका पीछा करते हुए सीमा पार के नगरों में भी उन्हें सताया करता था.

and in every synagogue, often punishing them, I was constraining [them] to speak evil, being also exceedingly mad against them, I was also persecuting [them] even to strange cities.

12 “इसी उद्देश्य से एक बार मैं प्रधान पुरोहितों से अधिकार पत्र प्राप्‍त कर दमिश्क नगर जा रहा था.

In which things, also, going on to Damascus—with authority and commission from the chief priests—

13 महाराज! दोपहर के समय मैंने और मेरे सहयात्रियों ने आकाश से सूर्य से भी कहीं अधिक तेज ज्योति देखी.

at midday, I saw in the way, O king, out of Heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining around me a light—and those going on with me;

14 जब हम सब भूमि पर गिर पड़े, मुझे इब्री भाषा में संबोधित करता हुआ एक शब्द सुनाई दिया, ‘शाऊल! शाऊल! तुम मुझे क्यों सता रहे हो? पैने पर लात मारना तुम्हारे लिए ही हानिकारक है.’

and we all having fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking to me, and saying in the Hebrew dialect, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me? [It is] hard for you to kick against goads!

15 “मैंने प्रश्न किया, ‘आप कौन हैं, प्रभु?’ “प्रभु ने उत्तर दिया ‘मैं येशु हूं तुम जिसे सता रहे हो,

And I said, Who are You, Lord? And He said, I am Jesus whom you persecute;

16 किंतु उठो, खड़े हो जाओ क्योंकि तुम्हें दर्शन देने का मेरा उद्देश्य यह है कि न केवल, जो कुछ तुमने देखा है परंतु वह सब, जो मैं तुम्हें अपने विषय में दिखाऊंगा, उसके लिए तुम्हें सेवक और गवाह ठहराऊं.

but rise, and stand on your feet, for this I appeared to you, to appoint you an officer and a witness both of the things you saw, and of the things [in which] I will appear to you,

17 यहूदियों तथा गैर-यहूदियों से, जिनके बीच मैं तुम्हें भेज रहा हूं, मैं तुम्हारी रक्षा करूंगा

delivering you from the people, and the nations, to whom I now send you,

18 कि उनकी आंखें खोलूं तथा उन्हें अंधकार से निकालकर ज्योति में और शैतान के अधिकार से परमेश्वर के राज्य में ले आऊं कि वे पाप क्षमा प्राप्‍त कर सकें और उनके सामने आ जाएं, जो मुझमें विश्वास के द्वारा परमेश्वर के लिए अलग किए गए हैं.’

to open their eyes, to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the authority of Satan to God, for their receiving forgiveness of sins, and a lot among those having been sanctified by faith that [is] toward Me.

19 “इसलिये महाराज अग्रिप्पा, मैंने स्वर्गीय दर्शन की बात नहीं टाली.

After which, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

20 मैंने सबसे पहले दमिश्क नगर में, इसके बाद येरूशलेम तथा सारे यहूदिया प्रदेश तथा गैर-यहूदियों में भी यह प्रचार किया कि वे पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर की ओर लौट आएं तथा अपने स्वभाव के द्वारा अपने पश्चाताप को प्रमाणित करें.

but to those in Damascus first, and to those in Jerusalem, also to all the region of Judea, and to the nations, I was preaching to convert, and to turn back to God, doing works worthy of conversion;

21 यही वह कारण है कि कुछ यहूदियों ने मंदिर में मुझे पकड़कर मेरी हत्या करनी चाही.

because of these things the Jews—having caught me in the temple—were endeavoring to kill [me].

22 अब तक मुझे परमेश्वर की सहायता प्राप्‍त होती रही, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप मैं आप और छोटे-बड़े सभी के सामने उसी सच्चाई के पूरा होने की घोषणा कर रहा हूं जिसका वर्णन मोशेह और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं ने किया था

Having obtained, therefore, help from God, until this day, I have stood witnessing both to small and to great, saying nothing besides the things that both the prophets and Moses spoke of as about to come,

23 कि मसीह दुःख भोगेंगे और मरे हुओं में से जी उठने में सबसे पहले होने के कारण वह यहूदियों और गैर-यहूदियों दोनों ही में ज्योति की घोषणा करेंगे.”

that the Christ is to suffer, whether first by a resurrection from the dead, He is about to proclaim light to the people and to the nations.”

24 जब पौलॉस अपने बचाव में यह कह ही रहे थे, फ़ेस्तुस ने ऊंचे शब्द में कहा, “पौलॉस! तुम्हारी तो मति भ्रष्‍ट हो गई है. तुम्हारी बहुत शिक्षा तुम्हें पागल बना रही है.”

And he thus making a defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “You are mad, Paul; much learning turns you mad!”

25 किंतु पौलॉस ने उत्तर दिया, “अत्यंत सम्मान्य फ़ेस्तुस महोदय, मेरी मति भ्रष्‍ट नहीं हुई है! मेरा कथन सच और ज्ञान के है.

And he says, “I am not mad, most noble Festus, but of truth and soberness I speak forth the sayings;

26 महाराज तो इन विषयों से परिचित हैं. मैं बड़े आत्मविश्वास के साथ उनसे यह सब कह रहा हूं. मुझे पूरा निश्चय है कि इन विषयों में से कुछ भी उनके लिए नया नहीं है क्योंकि इनमें से कुछ भी गुप्‍त में नहीं किया गया.

for the king knows concerning these things, before whom I also speak boldly, for none of these things, I am persuaded, are hidden from him; for this thing has not been done in a corner;

27 महाराज अग्रिप्पा, क्या आप भविष्यद्वक्ताओं का विश्वास करते हैं? मैं जानता हूं कि आप विश्वास करते हैं.”

do you believe, King Agrippa, the prophets? I have known that you believe!”

28 अग्रिप्पा ने पौलॉस से कहा, “तुम सोच रहे हो कि तुम शीघ्र ही मुझे मसीही होने के लिए सहमत कर लोगे!”

And Agrippa said to Paul, “In [so] little you persuade me to become a Christian?”

29 पौलॉस ने उत्तर दिया, “शीघ्र ही या विलंब से, परमेश्वर से मेरी तो यही विनती है कि न केवल आप, परंतु ये सभी सुननेवाले, जो आज मेरी बातें सुन रहे हैं, मेरे ही समान हो जाएं—सिवाय इन बेड़ियों के.”

And Paul said, “I would have wished to God, both in a little, and in much, not only you, but also all those hearing me today, to become such as I also am—except these bonds.”

30 तब राजा, राज्यपाल, बेरनिके और वे सभी, जो उनके साथ वहां बैठे हुए थे, खड़े हो गए तथा

And he having spoken these things, the king rose up, and the governor, Bernice also, and those sitting with them,

31 न्यायालय से बाहर निकलकर आपस में विचार-विमर्श करने लगे: “इस व्यक्ति ने मृत्यु दंड या कारावास के योग्य कोई अपराध नहीं किया है!”

and having withdrawn, they were speaking to one another, saying, “This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds”;

32 राजा अग्रिप्पा ने राज्यपाल फ़ेस्तुस से कहा, “यदि इस व्यक्ति ने कयसर से दोहाई का प्रस्ताव न किया होता तो इसे छोड़ दिया गया होता!”

and Agrippa said to Festus, “This man might have been released if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
