1 इसके बाद पौलॉस अथेनॉन नगर से कोरिन्थॉस नगर चले गए.
After these thinges, Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinthus,
2 वहां उनकी भेंट अकुलॉस नामक एक यहूदी से हुई. वह जन्मतः पोन्तॉस नगर का निवासी था. कुछ ही समय पूर्व वह अपनी पत्नी प्रिस्का के साथ इतालिया से पलायन कर आया था क्योंकि सम्राट क्लॉदियॉस ने रोम से सारे यहूदियों के निकल जाने की आज्ञा दी थी. पौलॉस उनसे भेंट करने गए.
And found a certaine Iewe named Aquila, borne in Pontus, lately come from Italie, and his wife Priscilla (because that Claudius had commanded all Iewes to depart from Rome) and he came vnto them.
3 पौलॉस और अकुलॉस का व्यवसाय एक ही था इसलिये पौलॉस उन्हीं के साथ रहकर काम करने लगे—वे दोनों ही तंबू बनानेवाले थे.
And because hee was of the same crafte, he abode with them and wrought (for their crafte was to make tentes.)
4 हर एक शब्बाथ पर पौलॉस यहूदी आराधनालय में प्रवचन देते और यहूदियों तथा यूनानियों की शंका दूर करते थे.
And he disputed in the Synagogue euery Sabbath day, and exhorted the Iewes, and the Grecians.
5 जब मकेदोनिया से सीलास और तिमोथियॉस वहां आए तो पौलॉस मात्र वचन की शिक्षा देने के प्रति समर्पित हो गए और यहूदियों के सामने यह साबित करने लगे कि येशु ही वह मसीह हैं.
Now when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul, forced in spirit, testified to the Iewes that Iesus was the Christ.
6 उनकी ओर से प्रतिरोध और निंदा की स्थिति में पौलॉस अपने वस्त्र झटक कर कह दिया करते थे, “अपने विनाश के लिए तुम स्वयं दोषी हो—मैं निर्दोष हूं. अब मैं गैर-यहूदियों के मध्य जा रहा हूं.”
And when they resisted and blasphemed, he shooke his raiment, and saide vnto them, Your blood be vpon your owne head: I am cleane: from henceforth will I goe vnto the Gentiles.
7 पौलॉस यहूदी आराधनालय से निकलकर तीतॉस युस्तस नामक व्यक्ति के घर चले गए. वह परमेश्वर भक्त व्यक्ति था. उसका घर यहूदी आराधनालय के पास ही था.
So he departed thence, and entred into a certaine mans house, named Iustus, a worshipper of God, whose house ioyned hard to the Synagogue.
8 यहूदी आराधनालय के प्रभारी क्रिस्पॉस ने सपरिवार प्रभु में विश्वास किया. अनेक कोरिन्थवासी वचन सुन विश्वास कर बपतिस्मा लेते जा रहे थे.
And Crispus the chiefe ruler of the Synagogue, beleeued in the Lord with all his housholde: and many of the Corinthians hearing it, beleeued and were baptized.
9 प्रभु ने पौलॉस से रात में दर्शन में कहा, “अब भयभीत न होना. वचन का प्रचार करते जाओ. मौन न रहो.
Then saide the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Feare not, but speake, and holde not thy peace.
10 मैं तुम्हारे साथ हूं. कोई तुम पर आक्रमण करके तुम्हें हानि नहीं पहुंचा सकता क्योंकि इस नगर में मेरे अनेक भक्त हैं.”
For I am with thee, and no man shall lay handes on thee to hurt thee: for I haue much people in this citie.
11 इसलिये पौलॉस वहां एक वर्ष छः माह तक रहे और परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा देते रहे.
So he continued there a yeere and six moneths, and taught ye worde of God among them.
12 जब गैलियो आखाया प्रदेश का राज्यपाल था, यहूदी एक मत होकर पौलॉस के विरुद्ध खड़े हो गए और उन्हें न्यायालय ले गए.
Now when Gallio was Deputie of Achaia, the Iewes arose with one accorde against Paul, and brought him to the iudgement seate,
13 उन्होंने उन पर आरोप लगाया, “यह व्यक्ति लोगों को परमेश्वर की आराधना इस प्रकार से करने के लिए फुसला रहा है, जो व्यवस्था के आदेशों के विपरीत है.”
Saying, This fellow persuadeth me to worship God otherwise then the Lawe appointeth.
14 जब पौलॉस अपनी-अपनी रक्षा में कुछ बोलने पर ही थे, गैलियो ने यहूदियों से कहा, “ओ यहूदियों! यदि तुम मेरे सामने किसी प्रकार के अपराध या किसी घोर दुष्टता का आरोप लेकर आते तो मैं उसके लिए अपने अधिकार का इस्तेमाल करता
And as Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio saide vnto the Iewes, If it were a matter of wrong, or an euill deede, O ye Iewes, I would according to reason maintaine you.
15 किंतु यदि यह विवादित शब्दों, नामों या तुम्हारे ही अपने विधान से संबंधित है तो इसका निर्णय तुम स्वयं करो. मैं इसका निर्णय नहीं करना चाहता.”
But if it bee a question of woordes, and names, and of your Lawe, looke yee to it your selues: for I will be no iudge of those things.
16 फिर उसने उन्हें न्यायालय के बाहर खदेड़ दिया.
And hee draue them from the iudgement seate.
17 यहूदियों ने यहूदी आराधनालय के प्रधान सोस्थेनेस को पकड़कर न्यायालय के सामने ही पीटना प्रारंभ कर दिया. गैलियो पर इसका कोई प्रभाव नहीं पड़ा.
Then tooke al the Grecians Sosthenes the chiefe ruler of the Synagogue, and beat him before the iudgement seat: but Gallio cared nothing for those things.
18 वहां अनेक दिन रहने के बाद पौलॉस भाई बहिनों से विदा लेकर जलमार्ग से सीरिया प्रदेश चले गए. उनके साथ प्रिस्का और अकुलॉस भी थे. केनख्रेया नगर में पौलॉस ने अपना मुंडन करवा लिया क्योंकि उन्होंने एक संकल्प लिया था.
But when Paul had taried there yet a good while, hee tooke leaue of the brethren, and sailed into Syria (and with him Priscilla and Aquila) after that he had shorne his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vowe.
19 वे इफ़ेसॉस नगर में आए. पौलॉस उन्हें वहीं छोड़कर यहूदी सभागृह में जाकर यहूदियों से वाद-विवाद करने लगे.
Then hee came to Ephesus, and left them there: but hee entred into the Synagogue and disputed with the Iewes.
20 वे पौलॉस से कुछ दिन और ठहरने की विनती करते रहे किंतु पौलॉस राज़ी नहीं हुए.
Who desired him to tarie a longer time with them: but he would not consent,
21 पौलॉस ने उनसे यह कहते हुए आज्ञा चाही “यदि परमेश्वर चाहेंगे तो मैं दोबारा लौटकर तुम्हारे पास आऊंगा” और वह इफ़ेसॉस नगर छोड़कर जलमार्ग से आगे चले गए.
But bade the farewel, saying, I must needes keepe this feast that commeth, in Hierusalem: but I will returne againe vnto you, if God will. So he sailed from Ephesus.
22 कयसरिया नगर पहुंचकर येरूशलेम जाकर उन्होंने कलीसिया से भेंट की और फिर अंतियोख़ नगर चले गए.
And when hee came downe to Cesarea, he went vp to Hierusalem: and when he had saluted the Church, he went downe vnto Antiochia.
23 अंतियोख़ नगर में कुछ दिन बिता कर वह वहां से विदा हुए और नगर-नगर यात्रा करते हुए सभी गलातिया प्रदेश और फ़्रिजिया क्षेत्र में से होते हुए शिष्यों को प्रोत्साहित करते हुए आगे बढ़ गए.
Nowe when he had taried there a while, he departed, and went thorowe the countrey of Galatia and Phrygia by order, strengthening all the disciples.
24 अपोल्लॉस नामक एक यहूदी व्यक्ति थे, जिनका जन्म अलेक्सान्द्रिया नगर में हुआ था. वह इफ़ेसॉस नगर आए. वह प्रभावशाली वक्ता और पवित्र शास्त्र के बड़े ज्ञानी थे
And a certaine Iewe named Apollos, borne at Alexandria, came to Ephesus, an eloquent man, and mightie in the Scriptures.
25 किंतु उन्हें प्रभु के मार्ग की मात्र ज़ुबानी शिक्षा दी गई थी. वह अत्यंत उत्साही स्वभाव के थे तथा मसीह येशु के विषय में उनकी शिक्षा सटीक थी किंतु उनका ज्ञान मात्र योहन के बपतिस्मा तक ही सीमित था.
The same was instructed in the way of the Lord, and hee spake feruently in the Spirite, and taught diligently the things of the Lord, and knew but the baptisme of Iohn onely.
26 अपोल्लॉस निडरता से यहूदी आराधनालय में प्रवचन देने लगे किंतु जब प्रिस्का और अकुलॉस ने उनका प्रवचन सुना तो वे उन्हें अलग ले गए और वहां उन्होंने अपोल्लॉस को परमेश्वर के शिक्षा-सिद्धान्त की सच्चाई को और अधिक साफ़ रीति से समझाया.
And he began to speake boldely in the Synagogue. Whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they tooke him vnto them, and expounded vnto him the way of God more perfectly.
27 जब अपोल्लॉस ने आखाया प्रदेश के आगे जाने की इच्छा व्यक्त की तो भाई बहिनों ने उन्हें प्रोत्साहित किया तथा आखाया प्रदेश के शिष्यों को पत्र लिखकर विनती की कि वे उन्हें स्वीकार करें. इसलिये जब अपोल्लॉस वहां पहुंचे, उन्होंने उन शिष्यों का बहुत प्रोत्साहन किया, जिन्होंने अनुग्रह द्वारा विश्वास किया था
And when hee was minded to goe into Achaia, the brethren exhorting him, wrote to the disciples to receiue him: and after hee was come thither, he holpe them much which had beleeued through grace.
28 क्योंकि वह सार्वजनिक रूप से यहूदियों का खंडन करते और पवित्र शास्त्र के आधार पर प्रमाणित करते थे कि येशु ही वह मसीह हैं.
For mightily hee confuted publikely the Iewes, with great vehemencie, shewing by the Scriptures, that Iesus was that Christ.
