2 शमूएल 23

1 यह दावीद द्वारा भेजा उनका आखिरी वचन है: “यिशै के पुत्र दावीद की यह घोषणा है, वह व्यक्ति, जो परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्‍नत किया गया, वह घोषणा कर रहा है, याकोब के परमेश्वर द्वारा अभिषिक्त, इस्राएल का लोकप्रिय, मधुर संगीतकार:

Now these are the last words of David: David the son of Jesse saith, And the man who was raised up on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel saith,

2 “याहवेह के आत्मा मेरे द्वारा बातें करते रहे हैं. उनका संदेश मेरी जीभ पर रहता था.

The Spirit of Jehovah spoke by me, And his word was on my tongue.

3 इस्राएल के परमेश्वर ने, इस्राएल की चट्टान ने मुझसे कहा, ‘वह, जो मनुष्यों पर न्याय के साथ शासन करता है, परमेश्वर की श्रद्धा में शासन करता है,

The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me, The ruler among men shall be just, Ruling in the fear of God;

4 वह सुबह की आभा के समान है, जब सूर्योदय हो रहा होता है, ऐसी सुबह, जो बादलों से छाई हुई, जब भूमि से बारिश के बाद कोमल घास सूर्य प्रकाश में भूमि से अंकुरित होने लगती है.’

And [he shall be] as the light of the morning, [like] the rising of the sun, A morning without clouds; [When] from the sunshine, after rain, The green grass springeth from the earth.

5 “क्या यह तथ्य नहीं, कि मेरे वंश के विषय में परमेश्वर की यही मान्यता है? क्योंकि उन्होंने मुझसे सदा की वाचा स्थापित की है, हर एक पक्ष में सुव्यवस्थित और सुरक्षित. क्या वह मेरे उद्धार और अभिलाषा को उन्‍नत न करेंगे?

Although my house be not so before God, Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in every way and sure; For [this is] all my salvation, and every desire, Although he make [it] not to grow.

6 निकम्मे व्यक्ति फेंक दी गई कंटीली झाड़ियों के समान हैं, उन्हें हाथों से इकट्ठा नहीं किया जा सकता;

But [the sons] of Belial [are] all of them as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands;

7 जो व्यक्ति इन्हें इकट्ठा करने का काम करता है, वह लोहे के दंड और भाले की छड़ को लेकर आता है; तब उन्हें आग में भस्म किया जा सकता है.”

And the man that will touch them provideth himself with iron and the staff of a spear; And they shall be utterly burned with fire in [their] place.

8 दावीद द्वारा सेना में शामिल वीर योद्धाओं के नाम: तहकेमोनवासी योशेब-बश्शेबेथ; वह तीन सेनापतियों में प्रमुख था. उसने अपने भाले से एक ही समय में आठ सौ शत्रुओं का संहार किया था.

These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Joseb-Bassebeth, Tachkemonite the chief of the captains: he was Adino the Eznite; he [fought] against eight hundred, slain [by him] at one time.

9 इन तीन शूरवीरों में दूसरा पद था अहोही के पुत्र दोदो के पुत्र एलिएज़र का. वही उस समय दावीद के साथ था, जब वे युद्ध के लिए मोर्चा बांधे फिलिस्तीनियों की ओर बेधड़क आगे बढ़ते गए, जबकि इस्राएली सेना पीछे हट चुकी थी.

And after him, Eleazar the son of Dodo the son of an Ahohite: he was one of the three mighty men with David, when they had defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone up.

10 आगे बढ़कर उसने फिलिस्तीनियों का संहार करना शुरू कर दिया, जब तक उसके हाथ थक न गए. उसका हाथ मानो तलवार से चिपक गया था. उस दिन याहवेह द्वारा प्रदान की गई विजय अद्भुत थी. इसके बाद सैनिक वहां आए अवश्य, मगर सिर्फ मृतकों की सामग्री लूटने.

He arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave to the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

11 इसके बाद नामित है हरारी अगी का पुत्र शम्माह. फिलिस्ती सेना लेही नामक स्थल पर मोर्चा बांधे एकत्र थी. वहां मतूर का खेत था. लोग फिलिस्तीनियों से डरकर भाग रहे थे.

And after him, Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite: the Philistines were gathered into a troop, and there was there a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people had fled before the Philistines;

12 उसने खेत के बीच में रहते हुए उनका सामना किया, उस खेत की रक्षा करते रहे, और फिलिस्तीनियों को मार गिराया. याहवेह ने बड़ी जीत के द्वारा उनकी रक्षा की.

and he stood in the midst of the plot and delivered it, and smote the Philistines, and Jehovah wrought a great deliverance.

13 कटनी के अवसर पर चट्टान में अदुल्लाम गुफा में तीस प्रमुख अधिकारियों में से तीन दावीद से भेंटकरने गए. इस समय, रेफाइम की फिलिस्तीनी सेना घाटी में शिविर डाले हुए थे.

And three of the thirty chiefs went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam, when the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

14 इस समय दावीद गढ़ में थे, और फिलिस्तीनी सेना बेथलेहेम में.

And David was then in the stronghold; and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.

15 बड़ी इच्छा से दावीद कह उठे, “कैसा सुखद होता अगर कोई बेथलेहेम फाटक के पास के कुएं से मुझे पीने के लिए पानी ला देता!”

And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me to drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate!

16 यह सुन ये तीन वीर योद्धा फिलिस्तीनियों के शिविर में से बचते-बचाते जाकर उस कुएं से, जो बेथलेहेम के द्वार के निकट था, दावीद के लिए जल ले आए. मगर दावीद ने वह जल पिया नहीं, उन्होंने उसे याहवेह के सामने उंडेल दिया.

And the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, which is in the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; however he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Jehovah.

17 उन्होंने कहा, “याहवेह, मुझसे यह काम कभी न हो. क्या, यह जल इन वीरों का लहू समान नहीं, जो अपने प्राण जोखिम में डाल मेरे लिए यह लाए हैं?” इसलिये दावीद ने वह जल नहीं पिया. ऐसे साहसिक थे इन वीरों के कार्य.

And he said, Be it far from me, Jehovah, that I should do this thing! is it not the blood of the men that went at the risk of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

18 ज़ेरुइयाह का पुत्र, योआब का भाई अबीशाई तीस सैनिकों पर अधिकारी था. उसने तीन सौ पर अपनी बर्छी घुमाई और उनको मार गिराया. उसने भी उन तीनों के समान प्रतिष्ठा प्राप्‍त की.

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was the chief of three; and he brandished his spear against three hundred and slew them; and he had a name among the three.

19 तीसों में वही सबसे अधिक प्रख्यात था. वह उनका प्रधान बन गया, मगर वह उन तीनों में से एक न था.

Was he not most honourable of three? and he was their captain; but he did not attain to the [first] three.

20 कबज़ीएल के एक वीर के पोते, यहोयादा के पुत्र, बेनाइयाह ने बड़े-बड़े काम किए थे, उसने मोआब के अरीएल के दो पुत्रों को मार गिराया. उसने ही उस दिन, जब बर्फ गिर रही थी, जाकर एक गड्ढे में बैठे सिंह का वध किया था.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, son of a valiant man, great in exploits, of Kabzeel: he it was that smote two lions of Moab; and he went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.

21 उसने एक बड़ा सा मिस्री का भी वध किया. उस मिस्री के हाथ में भाला अवश्य था मगर बेनाइयाह ने जाकर अपनी छड़ी से उसके भाले को उससे छीन लिया और उस मिस्र का वध उसी के भाले के कर दिया.

He also smote the Egyptian, an imposing man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

22 यहोयादा के पुत्र बेनाइयाह ने ये सारे काम किए, और उन तीन वीरों के समान प्रतिष्ठा प्राप्‍त की.

These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and he had a name among the three mighty men.

23 वह उन तीसों में ही प्रख्यात हुआ, मगर उन तीन के तुल्य नहीं. दावीद ने उसे अपने अंगरक्षक का अधिकारी नियुक्त कर दिया.

He was honoured above the thirty, but he did not attain to the [first] three. And David set him in his council.

24 तीस योद्धाओं के समूह में अन्य व्यक्ति ये थे: योआब का भाई आसाहेल, बेथलेहेम के दोदो का पुत्र एलहानन,

Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

25 हेरोदी शम्माह, हेरोदी एलीका,

Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

26 पेलेथी हेलेस, तकोआ निवासी इक्‍केश का पुत्र ईरा,

Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

27 अनाथोथी अबीएज़ेर, हुशाथी मबुन्‍ने,

Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

28 अहोही सलमोन, नेतोफ़ाही माहाराई,

Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

29 नेतोफ़ाही के बाअनाह का पुत्र हेलेब, गिबियाह के बिन्यामिन परिवार समूह रिबाई का पुत्र इथाई,

Heleb the son of Baanah, the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

30 पिराथोनी बेनाइयाह, गाश के नालों का हिद्दै,

Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

31 अरबाथवासी अबीअल्बोन, बहूरीमी अज़मावेथ,

Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

32 शालबोनी एलीअहाब, याशेन के पुत्र; योनातन

Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

33 हरारी शम्माह का पुत्र, अरारी शारार का अहीयम,

Shammah the Ararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,

34 माकाहथि का अहसबै का पुत्र एलिफेलेत, गीलोई अहीतोफ़ेल का पुत्र एलियाम,

Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

35 कर्मेली हेस्रो, अराबी पारै,

Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

36 ज़ोबाह के नाथान का पुत्र यिगाल; गादी बानी;

Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

37 अम्मोनवासी सेलेक, बीरोथवासी नाहाराई, जो ज़ेरुइयाह के पुत्र योआब का हथियार उठानेवाला था;

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armour-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,

38 इथरी ईरा इथरी गारेब;

Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

39 और हित्ती उरियाह. सब मिलाकर ये सैंतीस थे.

Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.
