2 शमूएल 13

1 दावीद के अबशालोम नामक पुत्र की अत्यंत रूपवती बहन थी, जिसका नाम तामार था. अम्मोन नामक दावीद के अन्य पुत्र को तामार से प्रेम हो गया.

And it comes to pass afterward that Absalom son of David has a beautiful sister, and her name [is] Tamar, and Amnon son of David loves her.

2 अम्मोन अपनी बहन के कारण इतना अधिक निराश हो गया कि वह रोगी रहने लगा. उसके साथ कुछ करना अम्मोन को कठिन जान पड़ता था. तामार अब तक कुंवारी थी.

And Amnon has distress—even to become sick, because of his sister Tamar, for she [is] a virgin, and it is hard in the eyes of Amnon to do anything to her.

3 दावीद के भाई सिमअह का योनादाब नामक पुत्र था, जो अम्मोन का मित्र था. वह एक चतुर व्यक्ति था.

And Amnon has a friend, and his name [is] Jonadab, son of Shimeah, David’s brother, and Jonadab [is] a very wise man,

4 उसने अम्मोन से कहा, “ओ राजा के सपूत, तुम दिन-प्रतिदिन ऐसे मुरझाए हुए मुंह के क्यों हुए जा रहे हो? मुझे बताओ, हुआ क्या है?” अम्मोन ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “मुझे मेरे भाई अबशालोम की बहन तामार से प्रेम हो गया है.”

and says to him, “Why [are] you thus lean, O king’s son, morning by morning? Do you not declare [it] to me?” And Amnon says to him, “Tamar—sister of my brother Absalom—I am loving.”

5 योनादाब ने उससे कहा, “ऐसा करो, जाकर अपने बिछौने पर सो जाओ मानो तुम रोगी हो. जब तुम्हारे पिता तुम्हें देखने आएं तो उनसे कहना, ‘मेरी बहन तामार को भेज दीजिए कि वह यही आकर मेरे देखते हुए भोजन तैयार करे कि मैं उसकी के हाथ से भोजन करूं.’”

And Jonadab says to him, “Lie down on your bed, and feign yourself sick, and your father has come in to see you, and you have said to him: Please let my sister Tamar come in and give me bread to eat; and she has made the food before my eyes so that I see [it], and have eaten from her hand.”

6 तब अम्मोन ऐसे सो गया मानो वह रोगी था. जब राजा उसे देखने आए, अम्मोन ने राजा से कहा, “कृपया मेरी बहन तामार को भेज दीजिए कि वह यहां आकर मेरे सामने मेरे लिए भोजन बनाए, कि मैं उसी के हाथ से भोजन कर सकूं.”

And Amnon lies down, and feigns himself sick, and the king comes in to see him, and Amnon says to the king, “Please let my sister Tamar come, and she makes two cakes before my eyes, and I eat from her hand.”

7 तब दावीद ने तामार के घर पर यह संदेश भेजा, “अपने भाई अम्मोन के घर पर चली जाओ और उसके लिए भोजन तैयार कर दो.”

And David sends to Tamar, to the house, saying, “Now go to the house of your brother Amnon and make food for him.”

8 तब तामार अपने भाई अम्मोन के घर पर चली गई, जहां वह लेटा हुआ था. उसने वहां आटा गूंधा और उसके देखते हुए रोटियां बनाई.

And Tamar goes to the house of her brother Amnon, and he is lying down, and she takes the dough, and kneads, and makes cakes before his eyes, and cooks the cakes,

9 इसके बाद उसने बर्तन में से भोजन निकालकर अम्मोन को परोस दिया, मगर अम्मोन ने खाना न चाहा. उसने आदेश दिया, “अन्य सभी व्यक्ति उस कमरे से बाहर भेज दिए जाएं.” तब सभी वहां से बाहर चले गए.

and takes the frying-pan, and pours out before him, and he refuses to eat, and Amnon says, “Have everyone go out from me”; and everyone goes out from him.

10 तब अम्मोन ने तामार से कहा, “भोजन यहां इस कमरे में लाया जाए, कि मैं तुम्हारे हाथ से भोजन कर सकूं.” तब तामार अपने द्वारा तैयार किया हुआ भोजन अपने भाई अम्मोन के निकट ले गई.

And Amnon says to Tamar, “Bring the food into the inner chamber, and I eat from your hand”; and Tamar takes the cakes that she has made and brings [them] to her brother Amnon [in] the inner chamber,

11 जैसे ही वह उसके भोजन उसके निकट लेकर गई, अम्मोन ने उसे पकड़ लिया और उससे कहा, “मेरी बहन, आओ, मेरे साथ सोओ.”

and she brings [them] near to him to eat, and he lays hold on her, and says to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister.”

12 उसने उत्तर दिया, “नहीं, मेरे भाई! मुझे विवश न करो! इस्राएल राष्ट्र में ऐसा नहीं किया जाता; मत करो यह अनाचार!

And she says to him, “No, my brother, do not humble me, for it is not done so in Israel; do not do this folly.

13 और फिर मेरे विषय में विचार करो. मैं इस लज्जा को कैसे धोती फिरूंगी? और अपने विषय में भी विचार करो. तुम तो इस्राएल में दुष्ट मूर्ख के रूप में कुख्यात हो जाओगे. सही होगा कि तुम इस विषय में राजा से आग्रह करो. वह मेरे विषय में तुम्हारा आग्रह अस्वीकार न करेंगे.”

And I—to where do I cause my reproach to go? And you are as one of the fools in Israel; and now, please speak to the king; for he does not withhold me from you.”

14 मगर अम्मोन ने उसकी एक न सुनी. तामार की अपेक्षा बलवान होने के कारण वह उस पर प्रबल हो गया, और उसने उसके साथ बलात्कार किया.

And he has not been willing to listen to her voice, and is stronger than she, and humbles her, and lies with her.

15 इसके होते ही अम्मोन तामार के प्रति ऐसी घृणा से भर गया, जो बहुत बड़ी घृणा थी. उसकी यह घृणा उसके प्रति उसके प्रेम से कहीं अधिक भयंकर थी. तब अम्मोन ने तामार से कहा, “चलो उठो और निकल जाओ यहां से!”

And Amnon hates her—a very great hatred—that greater [is] the hatred with which he has hated her than the love with which he loved her, and Amnon says to her, “Rise, go.”

16 मगर तामार ने उससे कहा, “नहीं, मेरे भाई, तुम्हारा मुझे इस प्रकार भेजना मेरे साथ किए गए इस कुकर्म से भी ज्यादा गलत बात होगी.” मगर अम्मोन ने उसकी एक न सुनी.

And she says to him, “Because of the circumstances this evil is greater than the other that you have done with me—to send me away”; and he has not been willing to listen to her,

17 उसने अपने युवा सेवक को बुलाकर उसे आदेश दिया, “इसी समय इस स्त्री को मेरी उपस्थिति से दूर ले जाओ, और फिर यह द्वार बंद कर दो.”

and calls his young man, his servant, and says, “Now send this one away from me outside, and bolt the door after her.”

18 तामार एक लंबा वस्त्र धारण किए हुए थी. इस वस्त्र में लंबी बांहें थी. राजा की कुंवारी कन्याएं इसी प्रकार का वस्त्र पहना करती थी. उस सेवक ने उसे कमरे से बाहर निकालकर द्वार बंद कर दिया.

And a long coat [is] on her, for such upper robes daughters of the king who [are] virgins put on—and his servant takes her outside, and has bolted the door after her.

19 तामार ने अपने सिर पर भस्म डाल अपने लंबी बांह युक्त वस्त्र को फाड़ दिया, जिसे उसने इस समय पहना था. वह इस स्थिति में अपने मस्तक पर हाथ रखे हुए उच्च स्वर में रोती हुई लौट गई.

And Tamar takes ashes for her head, and has torn the long coat that [is] on her, and puts her hand on her head, and goes, going on and crying;

20 तामार के भाई अबशालोम ने उससे पूछा, “क्या, तुम अपने भाई अम्मोन के यहां से आ रही हो? मेरी बहन, अब शांत हो जाओ. वह भाई है तुम्हारा. इसे अपने हृदय से निकाल दो.” तब तामार अपने भाई अबशालोम के आवास में असहाय स्त्री होकर रहने लगी.

and her brother Absalom says to her, “Has your brother Amnon been with you? And now, my sister, keep silent, he [is] your brother; do not set your heart to this thing”; and Tamar dwells—but desolate—in the house of her brother Absalom.

21 इस घटना का समाचार सुनकर राजा दावीद बहुत क्रुद्ध हो गए.

And King David has heard all these things, and it is very displeasing to him;

22 अबशालोम ने अम्मोन से भला-बुरा कुछ भी न कहा. अम्मोन ने उसकी बहन को भ्रष्‍ट किया था, इसलिए अबशालोम अम्मोन से घृणा करने लगा.

and Absalom has not spoken with Amnon either evil or good, for Absalom is hating Amnon, because that he humbled his sister Tamar.

23 इस घटना के बाद दो वर्ष पूर्ण होने पर अबशालोम ने राजा के सारे पुत्रों को बाल-हाज़ोर नामक स्थान पर आमंत्रित किया. यह स्थान एफ्राईम के निकट था. यहीं अबशालोम के भेड़ के ऊन कतरनेवाले चुने गए थे.

And it comes to pass, after two years of days, that Absalom has shearers in Ba‘al-Hazor, which [is] near Ephraim, and Absalom calls for all the sons of the king.

24 अबशालोम ने राजा के निकट जाकर उनसे विनती की, “कृपा कर सुनिए: आपके सेवक ने भेड़ के ऊन कतरनेवाले चुने हैं. कृपया महाराज और उनके सेवक मेरे साथ वहां पधारे.”

And Absalom comes to the king and says, “Now behold, your servant has shearers, please let the king go—and his servants—with your servant.”

25 मगर राजा ने अबशालोम को उत्तर दिया, “नहीं मेरे पुत्र, हम सबका वहां जाना सही न होगा. हम सब तुम्हारे लिए बोझ बन जाएंगे.” अबशालोम विनती करता रहा मगर राजा मना करते रहे. हां, राजा ने अबशालोम को आशीर्वाद अवश्य दिया.

And the king says to Absalom, “No, my son, please let us not all go, and we are not too heavy on you”; and he presses on him, and he has not been willing to go, and he blesses him.

26 इस स्थिति में अबशालोम ने अपने पिता से कहा, “अच्छा, यदि आप नहीं जा सकते तो हमारे साथ मेरे भाई अम्मोन को ही जाने दे.” इस पर राजा ने प्रश्न किया, “क्यों? वह क्यों जाएगा तुम्हारे साथ?”

And Absalom says, “If not, please let my brother Amnon go with us”; and the king says to him, “Why does he go with you?”

27 मगर जब अबशालोम विनती करता ही रहा, दावीद ने अम्मोन और सारे राजपुत्रों को उसके साथ जाने की आज्ञा दे दी.

And Absalom urges for him, and he sends Amnon and all the sons of the king with him.

28 अबशालोम ने अपने सेवकों को आदेश दे रखा था, “देखते रहना! जब अम्मोन दाखमधु से नशे में हो जाए, और जब मैं तुम्हें आदेश दूं, ‘अम्मोन पर वार करो,’ तब तुम उसे घात कर देना. ज़रा भी न झिझकना. स्वयं मैं तुम्हें यह आदेश दे रहा हूं; साहस बनाए रखना और वीरता दिखाना.”

And Absalom commands his young men, saying, “Now see, when the heart of Amnon [is] glad with wine, and I have said to you, Strike Amnon, that you have put him to death; do not fear; is it not because I have commanded you? Be strong, indeed, become sons of valor.”

29 अबशालोम के सेवकों ने इस आदेश का पूरा-पूरा पालन किया. वह होते ही सभी राजपुत्र अपने-अपने घोड़ों पर सवार हो भाग गए.

And the young men of Absalom do to Amnon as Absalom commanded, and all the sons of the king rise, and they ride, each on his mule, and flee.

30 जब वे सब मार्ग में ही थे, दावीद को यह समाचार इस प्रकार भेजा गया: “अबशालोम ने सभी राजपुत्रों का संहार कर दिया है; एक भी जीवित शेष न रहा है.”

And it comes to pass—they [are] in the way—and the report has come to David, saying, “Absalom has struck all the sons of the king, and there is not left [even] one of them”;

31 यह सुनकर राजा ने शोक में अपने वस्त्र फाड़ दिए, और उठकर भूमि पर जा लेटे. उनके निकट सभी सेवकों ने भी अपने वस्त्र फाड़ दिए.

and the king rises, and tears his garments, and lies on the earth, and all his servants are standing by [with] torn garments.

32 मगर दावीद के भाई सिमअह के पुत्र योनादाब ने आश्वासन दिया, “मेरे प्रभु, यह न मान लें कि उन्होंने सारे युवा राजपुत्रों का संहार कर दिया है. वध मात्र अम्मोन का ही किया गया है. इसका निश्चय अबशालोम ने उसी दिन कर लिया था, जिस दिन अम्मोन ने अपनी बहन तामार से बलात्कार किया था.

And Jonadab son of Shimeah, David’s brother, answers and says, “Do not let my lord say, The whole of the young men, the sons of the king, they have put to death; for Amnon alone [is] dead, for it has been appointed by the command of Absalom from the day of his humbling his sister Tamar;

33 मेरे स्वामी महाराज, इस विचार से उदास न हों, कि सारे राजपुत्रों का संहार किया जा चुका है, क्योंकि सिर्फ अम्मोन का ही संहार किया गया है.”

and now, do not let my lord the king lay the word to his heart, saying, All the sons of the king have died, for Amnon alone [is] dead.”

34 इसी बीच अबशालोम वहां से भाग निकला. वहां नियुक्त युवा पहरेदार ने दृष्टि की, तो देखा कि उसके पीछे के मार्ग से पर्वत की एक ओर से अनेक लोग चले आ रहे थे.

And Absalom flees, and the young man who is watching lifts up his eyes and looks, and behold, many people are coming by the way behind him, on the side of the hill.

35 योनादाब ने राजा से कहा, “देखिए राजपुत्र लौट आए हैं! ठीक वैसा ही हुआ है, जैसे आपके सेवक ने आपको कहा था.”

And Jonadab says to the king, “Behold, the sons of the king have come; as the word of your servant, so it has been.”

36 वह यह कह ही रहा था, कि राजपुत्र आ पहुंचे और ऊंची आवाज में रोने लगे. उनके साथ राजा और सारे सेवक भी फूट-फूटकर रोने लगे.

And it comes to pass at his finishing to speak, that behold, the sons of the king have come, and they lift up their voice, and weep, and also the king and all his servants have wept—a very great weeping.

37 इस समय अबशालोम कूच करके गेशूर के राजा अम्मीहूद के पुत्र तालमाई की शरण में जा पहुंचा. राजा दावीद अपने पुत्र के लिए हर रोज़ रोते रहे.

And Absalom has fled, and goes to Talmai, son of Ammihud, king of Geshur, and [David] mourns for his son all the days.

38 अबशालोम भागकर गेशूर नामक स्थान पर गया और वहां तीन साल तक रहता रहा.

And Absalom has fled, and goes to Geshur, and is there [for] three years;

39 राजा दावीद का हृदय अबशालोम से मिलने के लिए व्याकुल रहता था. अब उन्हें अम्मोन मृत्यु के विषय में शांति प्राप्‍त हो चुकी थी.

and King David determines to go out to Absalom, for he has been comforted for Amnon, for [he is] dead.
