2 राजा 6
1 भविष्यवक्ताओं के दल ने एलीशा से विनती की, “सुनिए, आपके द्वारा हमारे लिए ठहराया गया घर अब छोटा पड़ रहा है!
And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, —See, we pray thee, the place wherein we sit before thee, is too strait for us.
2 हमें आज्ञा दीजिए कि हम सब यरदन नदी के तट पर जाएं और हममें से हर एक वहां से एक-एक बल्ली काटे और हम वहां अपने लिए घर बनाएंगे.” एलीशा ने आज्ञा दे दी, “जाओ.”
Let us go, we pray thee, as far as the Jordan, and fetch from thence every man a single beam, and let us make us a place wherein we may sit. And he said—Go ye.
3 उनमें से एक ने एलीशा से विनती की, “अपने सेवकों के साथ चलने की कृपा कीजिए.” एलीशा ने हां कह दिया, “अच्छा, मैं तुम्हारे साथ चलूंगा.”
Then said one—Be content, we pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he said—I myself, will go.
4 तब वह उनके साथ चले गए. जब वे यरदन के तट पर आए, उन्होंने पेड़ काटना शुरू किया.
So he went with them, —and, when they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 उनमें से एक भविष्यद्वक्ता बल्ली काट रहा था तब उसकी कुल्हाड़ी की फाल पानी में जा गिरी. वह भविष्यद्वक्ता चिल्ला उठा, “ओह, मेरे स्वामी! वह तो उधार की फाल थी.”
And it came to pass, as one was felling a branch, that, the axe-head, fell into the water, so he made outcry and said—Alas! my lord, for, it, was borrowed!
6 इस पर परमेश्वर के जन ने उससे पूछा, “किस जगह पर गिरी है वह?” जब उसने उन्हें वह जगह दिखाई, भविष्यद्वक्ता ने एक छड़ी काटी और उस जगह पर फेंक दी. लोहे की वह फाल पानी पर तैरने लगी.
And the man of God said—Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a piece of wood and cast it in thither, and the iron did swim.
7 एलीशा ने उसे आदेश दिया, “इसे उठा लो.” तब उसने हाथ बढ़ाकर उसे उठा लिया.
And he said—Take it up to thee. So he put forth his hand, and took it.
8 उस मौके पर, जब अराम का राजा इस्राएल से युद्ध करता था, उसने अपने सेवकों की सलाह के अनुसार निर्णय लिया, “मेरा तंबू अमुक जगह पर होगा.”
Now, the king of Syria, was making war against Israel, —so he took counsel with his servants, saying—In such and such a place, shall be my encampment.
9 परमेश्वर के जन ने इस्राएल के राजा को यह संदेश भेजा: “सावधान रहिए! अरामी सेना वहीं पहुंच रही है, तब उस स्थान के निकट से होकर न जाइएगा.”
The man of God, therefore, sent unto the king of Israel, saying—Beware of passing by this place, —for, thither, are the Syrians coming down.
10 इस्राएल का राजा उसी स्थान को अपनी सेना भेजा करता था, जिसके विषय में उसे परमेश्वर के जन द्वारा सूचना मिली थी. इस प्रकार उसे चेतावनी मिलती रहती थी, फलस्वरूप वह अपने आपकी सुरक्षा कर लेता था. यह अनेक बार हुआ.
So the king of Israel sent unto the place whereof the man of God had spoken to him and warned him, and was on his guard there, —not once nor twice
11 इससे अराम के राजा का मन बहुत ही घबरा गया. उसने अपने सेवकों की सभा बुलाकर उनसे प्रश्न किया, “क्या, आप लोग मुझे यह बताएंगे कि हममें से कौन है, जो इस्राएल के राजा की ओर है?”
Then was the heart of the king of Syria disquieted concerning this thing, —and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not tell me, who of our men are for the king of Israel?
12 एक सेवक ने उत्तर दिया, “कोई भी नहीं, महाराज. हां, इस्राएल में एक भविष्यद्वक्ता है—एलीशा, वह इस्राएल के राजा को आपके द्वारा आपके कमरे में कहे गए शब्दों तक की सूचना दे देता है.”
Then said one of his servants, None, my lord O king, —but, Elisha, the prophet, who is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words which thou speakest in thy bed-chamber.
13 अराम के राजा ने आदेश दिया, “जाओ. मालूम करो कहां है यह भविष्यद्वक्ता, कि मैं सैनिक भेज उसे पकड़वा सकूं.” राजा को सूचित किया गया,
And he said—Go, and see where he is, that I may send and take him. And it was told him, saying—Lo! in Dothan.
14 “महाराज, वह भविष्यद्वक्ता दोथान में छिपा हुआ है.” राजा ने उस स्थान के लिए घोड़े, रथ और एक बड़ी सैनिक टुकड़ी भेज दी. रात में वहां पहुंचकर उन्होंने उस नगर को घेर लिया.
Therefore sent he thither—horses and chariots, and a strong force, —and they came in by night, and encompassed the city.
15 तड़के जब परमेश्वर के जन का सेवक जागा, उसने बाहर जाकर देखा कि सेना, घोड़े और रथ नगर को घेरे हुए हैं. सेवक कह उठा, “हाय, मेरे स्वामी! अब हम क्या करें?”
And, when the attendant of the man of God arose early and went forth, lo! a force surrounding the city, with horses and chariots. Then said his young man unto him—Alas! my lord, what shall we do?
16 एलीशा ने उत्तर दिया, “डरो मत! क्योंकि वे, जो हमारे साथ हैं, गिनती में उनसे अधिक हैं, जो उनके साथ हैं.”
And he said—Do not fear, —for, more, are, they who are with us, than, they who are with them.
17 तब एलीशा ने यह प्रार्थना की: “याहवेह, कृपा कर इसे दृष्टि दीजिए, कि यह देख सके.” तब याहवेह ने उस युवा सेवक को दृष्टि दी और उसने देखा एलीशा के चारों ओर पहाड़ घोड़ों और अग्निरथों से भरा हुआ था.
Then prayed Elisha, and said, O Yahweh! open, I beseech thee, his eyes, that he may see. And Yahweh opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and lo! the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire, round about Elisha.
18 जब अरामी सेना एलीशा को पकड़ने के लिए आगे बढ़ी, एलीशा ने याहवेह से यह प्रार्थना की: “कृपा कर इन लोगों की दृष्टि छीन लीजिए.” तब एलीशा की प्रार्थना के अनुसार याहवेह ने उन्हें अंधा कर दिया.
And, when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto Yahweh, and said—Smite, I beseech thee, this people, with sudden blindness. And he smote them with sudden blindness, according to the word of Elisha.
19 उन्हें एलीशा ने कहा, “न तो यह वह मार्ग है और न ही यह वह नगर. मेरे पीछे आओ, मैं तुम्हें उस व्यक्ति तक ले जाऊंगा, जिसे तुम खोज रहे हो.” तब एलीशा ने उन्हें शमरिया पहुंचा दिया.
Then Elisha said unto them—This, is not the way, neither is, this, the city, follow me, that I may lead you unto the man, whom ye would secure! So he led them to Samaria.
20 जैसे ही उन्होंने शमरिया में प्रवेश किया, एलीशा ने प्रार्थना की, “याहवेह इन व्यक्तियों की दृष्टि लौटा दीजिए कि अब ये देख सकें.” तब याहवेह ने उन्हें दृष्टि प्रदान की. उन्होंने देखा और पाया कि वे शमरिया में हैं.
And it came to pass, when they had entered Samaria, that Elisha said, O Yahweh! open the eyes of these men, that they may see! And Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw, and lo! they were in the midst of Samaria!
21 जैसे ही इस्राएल के राजा ने उन्हें देखा, वह एलीशा से कहने लगा, “मेरे पिताजी, क्या, हम उन पर वार करें? बताइए, क्या हम उन पर वार करें?”
Then said the king of Israel unto Elisha, when he saw them, —Shall I smite—shall I smite, my father?
22 एलीशा ने उत्तर दिया, “तुम्हारा उन पर हमला करना सही न होगा. क्या, उन बंदियों की हत्या की जाती है, जिन्हें तुम तलवार और धनुष के द्वारा बंदी बनाते हो? उन्हें भोजन परोसो कि वे खा-पीकर तृप्त हो जाएं, और अपने स्वामी के पास लौट जाएं.”
And he said—Thou shalt not smite. Them whom thou hadst taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow, wouldst, thou, have been smiting? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go their way unto their lord.
23 तब उनके लिए एक उत्तम भोज तैयार किया गया. जब वे खा-पीकर तृप्त हो गए, इस्राएल के राजा ने उन्हें विदा किया, और वे अपने स्वामी के पास लौट गए. इस घटना के बाद अरामी फिर कभी इस्राएल पर हमला करने नहीं आए.
And he made for them a great feast, and, when they had eaten and drunk, he let them go, and they went their way unto their lord. So then, troops of Syrians came again, no more, into the land of Israel.
24 कुछ समय के बाद, अराम के राजा बेन-हदद ने अपनी सारी सेना तैयार की और शमरिया पर हमला किया और नगर की घेराबंदी कर ली.
But it came to pass, after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered together all his host, —and came up and laid siege against Samaria.
25 शमरिया में इस समय भयंकर अकाल फैल गया. शत्रु सेना ने इसे घेर रखा था. स्थिति ऐसी हो चुकी थी कि गधे का सिर चांदी के अस्सी शेकेलों में और एक चौथाई कबूतर की बीट पांच शेकेल में बेची जा रही थी.
And there came to be, a great famine, in Samaria, and lo! they continued the siege against it, —until an ass’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and one pint of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.
26 एक दिन इस्राएल का राजा नगर की शहरपनाह पर चलता हुआ जा रहा था, एक स्त्री ने उससे ऊंचे स्वर में कहा, “महाराज, मेरे स्वामी, सहायता कीजिए.”
And so it was that, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman, made outcry unto him, saying—Save, my lord, O king!
27 राजा ने उत्तर दिया, “यदि याहवेह ही तुम्हारी सहायता नहीं करते, तो मैं तुम्हारी क्या सहायता कर सकता हूं, क्या, खलिहान से या अंगूर-रस के कुंड से?”
And he said—If Yahweh do not save thee, whence should I save thee? out of the threshing-floor or out of the wine-press?
28 राजा ने फिर आगे यह भी पूछा, “क्या तकलीफ़ है तुम्हें?” स्त्री ने उत्तर दिया, “इस स्त्री ने मुझसे कहा था, ‘आज मुझे अपना पुत्र दे दो कि वह हमारा आज का भोजन हो जाए, कल मेरा पुत्र हमारा भोजन हो जाएगा.’
And the king said to her—What aileth thee? And she said—This woman, said unto me—Give thy son, that we may eat him, to-day, and, my son, will we eat to-morrow.
29 तब हमने मेरे पुत्र को पकाकर खा लिया. दूसरे दिन मैंने इसे याद दिलाया, ‘लाओ अपना पुत्र को, ताकि वह हमारा भोजन हो जाए.’ मगर इसने तो अपना पुत्र छिपा दिया है.”
So we cooked my son, and did eat him, —and I said unto her, on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him; But she had hid her son.
30 जब राजा ने उस स्त्री के ये शब्द सुने, उसने अपने कपड़े फाड़ दिए. इस समय वह शहरपनाह पर टहल रहा था. लोगों ने यह सब देखा. उन्होंने इस बात पर भी ध्यान दिया कि वह राजसी वस्त्रों के भीतर टाट पहना हुआ था.
And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes, while yet he was passing by upon the wall, —so the people looked, and lo! sackcloth upon his flesh, within.
31 राजा ने घोषणा की, “परमेश्वर मेरे साथ ऐसा ही, बल्कि इससे भी कड़ा व्यवहार करें, यदि आज शाफात के पुत्र एलीशा का सिर उसके धड़ से लगा रह जाए.”
And he said—So, let God do to me, and, so, let him add, —if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remain on him, to-day!
32 एलीशा अपने घर में बैठे हुए थे, उनके साथ नगर पुरनिए भी बैठे हुए थे. इस समय राजा द्वारा भेजा दूत यहीं आ रहा था. अभी वह व्यक्ति यहां नहीं पहुंचा था, मगर एलीशा अपने साथ के पुरनियों से कह रहे थे, “देखो, इस हत्यारे को, उसने मेरा सिर उड़ाने के लिए एक दूत भेजा है! ऐसा कीजिए, जैसे ही वह दूत यहां पहुंचे, दरवाजा बंद कर लें और उसे अच्छी तरह से बंद किए रखें. उसका स्वामी उससे अधिक दूर नहीं होगा.”
Now, Elisha, being seated in his house, and, the elders, seated with him, —when he had sent a man from before him, ere yet the messenger could come in unto him, he himself, said unto the elders—Do ye see how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away my head? See! when the messenger is coming in, close ye the door, and press him back with the door, is not the sound of his lord’s feet behind him?
33 एलीशा उनसे यह कह ही रहे थे, कि उस दूत ने उनके पास आकर उनसे कहा, “यह मुसीबत याहवेह की ओर से है. अब मैं आगे याहवेह का इंतजार और क्यों करता रहूं?”
While yet he was speaking with them, lo! the messenger, coming down unto him, —and he said, —Lo! this, is a calamity from Yahweh, why should I wait for Yahweh, any longer?
