2 राजा 3
1 यहूदिया के राजा यहोशाफ़ात के शासनकाल के अठारहवें साल में अहाब का पुत्र यहोराम शमरिया में राजा हो गया, और उसने बारह साल तक शासन किया.
And Joram the son of Achaab began to reign in Israel in the eighteenth year of Josaphat king of Juda, and he reigned twelve years.
2 याहवेह की दृष्टि में उसका व्यवहार गलत था; हालांकि उतना नहीं जैसा उसके पिता और माता का था; क्योंकि उसने अपने पिता द्वारा बनवाए हुए बाल के खंभों को हटा दिया.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, only not as his father, nor as his mother: and he removed the pillars of Baal which his father had made.
3 फिर भी वह नेबाथ के पुत्र यरोबोअम के उन पापों में लगा रहा, जिन्हें करने के लिए वह इस्राएल को उकसाता रहा. वह इनसे दूर न हुआ.
Only he adhered to the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.
4 मेषा मोआब का राजा भेड़ पालता था. उसे इस्राएल के राजा को हर साल एक लाख मेमने और एक लाख भेड़ों का ऊन देना होता था.
And Mosa king of Moab was a sheep-master, and he rendered to the king of Israel in the beginning [of the year], a hundred thousand lambs, and a hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
5 अहाब की मृत्यु होते ही मोआब के राजा ने इस्राएल के विरुद्ध विद्रोह कर दिया.
And it came to pass, after the death of Achaab, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
6 तब राजा यहोराम शमरिया से बाहर निकल पड़ा और उसने सारी इस्राएली सेना को इकट्ठी की.
And king Joram went forth in that day out of Samaria, and numbered Israel.
7 तब उसने जाकर यहूदिया के राजा यहोशाफ़ात को यह संदेश भेजा, “मोआब का राजा मेरे विरुद्ध विद्रोह पर उतर आया है. क्या मोआब से युद्ध में आप मेरा साथ देंगे?” यहोशाफ़ात ने उत्तर दिया, “ज़रूर मैं आपके साथ हूं. जो मेरे सैनिक हैं, वे आपके भी सैनिक हैं. मेरे घोड़े आपके घोड़े हैं.”
And he went and sent to Josaphat king of Juda, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to war? And he said, I will go up: you are as I, I am as you; as my people, so [is] your people, as my horses, so [are] your horses.
8 तब यहोशाफ़ात ने पूछा, “हमें किस दिशा से हमला करना है?” यहोराम ने उत्तर दिया, “एदोम के बंजर भूमि के मार्ग से.”
And he said, What way shall I go up? and he said, The way of the wilderness of Edom.
9 तब इस्राएल के राजा के साथ यहूदिया और एदोम के राजा भी शामिल हो गए. वे सात दिन तक घूम-घूमकर चलते रहे. इसमें न तो सैनिकों के पीने के लिए पानी मिला और न साथ चल रहे पशुओं के लिए.
And the king of Israel went, and the king of Juda, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey; and there was no water for the army, and for the cattle that went with them.
10 यह देख इस्राएल का राजा मन में कहने लगा, “हाय! ऐसा लग रहा है याहवेह ने तीन राजा मोआब को सौंप देने के लिए इकट्ठा किए हैं.”
And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the Lord should have called the three kings on their way, to give them into the hand of Moab.
11 यहोशाफ़ात ने उससे पूछा, “क्या यहां याहवेह का कोई भविष्यद्वक्ता नहीं है, कि हम उसके द्वारा याहवेह की इच्छा मालूम कर सकें?” इस्राएल के राजा के एक सेवक ने उत्तर दिया, “शाफात के पुत्र एलीशा यहीं रहते हैं, जो एलियाह के हाथों को धुलाया करते थे.”
And Josaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him? And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, [There is] here Elisaie son of Saphat, who poured water on the hands of Eliu.
12 यहोशाफ़ात कह उठे, “उनके पास याहवेह का संदेश पहुंचता है.” तब इस्राएल का राजा, यहूदिया का राजा और एदोम का राजा, तीनों ही एलीशा से मिलने के लिए चले गए.
And Josaphat said, He has the word of the Lord. And the king of Israel, and Josaphat king of Juda, and the king of Edom, went down to him.
13 एलीशा ने इस्राएल के राजा से कहा, “मेरा और आपका कोई संबंध नहीं है. जाइए अपने पिता और अपनी माता के भविष्यवक्ताओं के पास.” इस्राएल के राजा ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “नहीं! खुद याहवेह ने तीन राजाओं को मोआब के अधीन कर देने के लिए ही इकट्ठा किया है.”
And Elisaie said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? go to the prophets of your father, and the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said to him, Has the Lord called the three kings to deliver them into the hands of Moab?
14 एलीशा ने उत्तर दिया, “जीवित याहवेह की शपथ, मैं जिनके सामने खड़ा रहता हूं; अगर मेरे मन में यहूदिया के राजा यहोशाफ़ात के लिए आदर न होता, तो मैं न तो तुम्हें देखना चाहता और न ही तुम्हारी ओर दृष्टि करता.
And Elisaie said, [As] the Lord of hosts before whom I stand lives, unless I regarded the presence of Josaphat the king of Juda, I would not have looked on you, nor seen you.
15 मगर अब मेरे लिए एक बजानेवाले का इंतजाम किया जाए.” जब बजाने वाला बजाने लगा, एलीशा को याहवेह की ओर से शक्ति मिली.
And now fetch me a harper. And it came to pass, as the harper harped, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.
16 एलीशा ने कहना शुरू किया, “याहवेह का संदेश यह है, ‘इस घाटी को खाइयों में बदल दो.’
And he said, Thus says the Lord, Make this valley full of trenches.
17 क्योंकि यह याहवेह की घोषणा है, तुम्हें न तो हवा दिखाई देगी और न ही बारिश; फिर भी घाटी पानी से भर जाएगी, कि तुम्हें पीने के लिए पानी मिल जाए; तुम्हें, तुम्हारे घोड़ों को और तुम्हारे सभी पशुओं को भी.
For thus says the Lord, You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain, yet this valley shall be filled with water, and you, and your flocks, and your cattle shall drink.
18 याहवेह की नज़रों में यह बहुत ही आसान सा काम है. याहवेह मोआबियों को भी आपके अधीन कर देंगे.
And this [is] a light [thing] in the eyes of the Lord: I will also deliver Moab into your hand.
19 इसके अलावा तुम हर एक गढ़नगर और प्रमुख नगर पर हमला करोगे, हर एक अच्छे पेड़ को गिरा दोगे, सारे पानी के स्रोतों को बंद कर दोगे और हर एक उपजाऊ खेत को पत्थरों से पाट दोगे.”
And you shall strike every strong city, and you shall cut down every good tree, and you shall stop all wells of water, and spoil every good piece [of land] with stones.
20 अगली सुबह को, जब बलि चढ़ाने का समय हुआ, यह देखा गया कि एदोम प्रदेश की दिशा से पानी बहने लगा और सारा इलाका पानी से भर गया.
And it came to pass in the morning, when the sacrifice was offered, that, behold! waters came from the way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.
21 जब मोआब देश की प्रजा ने यह सुना कि राजा उनसे युद्ध करने आए हैं, तो बालक से लेकर बूढ़े तक को, जो हथियार उठा सकते थे, बुलवाया गया और उन सबको नगर सीमा पर खड़ा कर दिया गया.
And all Moab heard that the three kings were come up to fight against them; and they cried out on every [side, even] all that were girded with a girdle, and they said, Ho! and stood upon the border.
22 सुबह को सूरज उगने के समय, जागने पर, जब मोआबवासियों की दृष्टि सूरज से चमकते जल पर पड़ी, तो वह जल उन्हें लहू सा दिखाई दिया.
And they rose early in the morning, and the sun rose upon the waters, and Moab saw the waters on the opposite side red as blood.
23 वे आपस में कहने लगे, “यह खून है! लगता है राजा आपस में ही लड़ पड़े और एक दूसरे को मार चुके हैं. तब तो हे मोआबियों चलो, लूट का सामान उठाने!”
And they said, This [is] the blood of the sword; and the kings have fought, and each man has struck his neighbor; now then to the spoils, Moab.
24 मगर जब वे इस्राएलियों की छावनी तक पहुंचे, इस्राएली सेना ने उठकर मोआबी सेना को मारना शुरू कर दिया. तब मोआबी पीठ दिखाकर भागने लगे. इस्राएली सेना मोआबियों को मारते हुए मोआबियों के देश तक प्रवेश करती गई, और मोआबियों को मारती चली गई.
And they entered into the camp of Israel; and Israel arose and struck Moab, and they fled from before them; and they went on and struck Moab as they went.
25 इस प्रकार उन्होंने नगर खत्म कर दिए और हर एक व्यक्ति ने बढ़ते हुए अच्छी-अच्छी उपजाऊ भूमि पर पत्थर डालकर खेतों को पाट दिया. इसी तरह उन्होंने सारे जल के स्रोत बंद कर दिए और सभी उत्तम, हरे-भरे पेड़ों को गिरा दिया. अब कीर-हेरासेथ की ज़मीन पर पत्थर ही पत्थर दिखाई दे रहे थे. वे, जो गोफन का इस्तेमाल कर रहे थे, उन्होंने कीर-हेरासेथ को घेरकर उस पर हमला कर दिया.
And they razed the cities, and cast every man his stone on every good piece [of land] and filled it; and they stopped every well, and cut down every good tree, until they left [only] the stones of the wall cast down; and the slingers compassed [the land], and struck it.
26 जब मोआब के राजा ने यह पाया कि उसकी सेना हार रही है, उसने 700 तलवारधारी सैनिकों को साथ लेकर एदोम के राजा की ओर बड़ी शक्ति के साथ हमला किया, मगर वे अपने लक्ष्य में असफल ही रहे.
And the king of Moab saw that the battle prevailed against him; and he took with him seven hundred men that drew sword, to cut through to the king of Edom: and they could not.
27 तब मोआब के राजा ने अपने उत्तराधिकारी, जेठे पुत्र को नगर की शहरपनाह पर बलि के रूप में चढ़ा दिया. इससे उनमें इस्राएली सेना के विरुद्ध बड़ा क्रोध छा गया और वे अपने देश लौट गए.
And he took his oldest son whom he had designed to reign in his stead, and offered him up for a whole burnt offering on the walls. And there was a great indignation against Israel; and they departed from him, and returned to their land.
