1 शासन शुरू करते समय आहाज़ की उम्र बीस साल थी. येरूशलेम में उसने सोलह साल शासन किया. उसने वह नहीं किया जो याहवेह की दृष्टि में सही था, जैसा उसके पूर्वज दावीद ने किया था.

Achaz was of twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede sixtene yeer in Jerusalem; he dide not riytfulnesse in the siyt of the Lord, as Dauid, his fadir, dide;

2 वह इस्राएल के राजाओं की नीति का पालन करता रहा. उसने बाल देवताओं की मूर्तियां बनाईं.

but he yede in the weies of the kyngis of Israel. Ferthermore and he yetyde ymagis to Baalym.

3 इनके अलावा; वह बेन-हिन्‍नोम घाटी में धूप जलाता था और उसने अपने पुत्रों की अग्निबलि चढ़ाई. यह उन जनताओं की घृणित प्रथाएं थी, जिन्हें याहवेह ने इस्राएल वंशजों के सामने से दूर भगाया था.

He it is that brente encense in the valey of Beennon, and purgide hise sones bi fier bi the custom of hethene men, whiche the Lord killide in the comyng of the sones of Israel.

4 वह पूजा स्थलों पर, पहाड़ियों पर और हर एक हरे वृक्ष के नीचे धूप जलाकर बलि चढ़ाता रहा.

Also he made sacrifice, and brente encense in hiy places, and in hillis, and vndur ech tree ful of bowis.

5 तब याहवेह उसके परमेश्वर ने उसे अराम के राजा के अधीन कर दिया. उन्होंने उसे हरा दिया और उनमें से बड़ी संख्या में बंदी बनाए और उन्हें दमेशेक ले गए. उसे इस्राएल के राजा के अधीन भी कर दिया गया. उसने उसे बुरी तरह से हराया.

And `his Lord God bitook hym in the hond of the kyng of Sirie, which smoot Achaz, and took a greet preie of his empire, and brouyten in to Damask. Also Achaz was bitakun to the hondis of the kyng of Israel, and was smytun with a greet wounde.

6 इसलिये कि उन्होंने अपने पूर्वजों के परमेश्वर याहवेह को त्याग दिया था, रेमालियाह के पुत्र पेकाह ने एक ही दिन में यहूदिया के सभी एक लाख बीस हज़ार योद्धाओं को मार गिराया.

7 एफ्राईमी ज़ीकरी ने राजपुत्र मआसेइयाह और गृह प्रशासक अज़रीकाम का वध कर दिया और राजा के बाद के सर्वोच्च अधिकारी एलकाना का भी.

8 इस्राएली अपने ही भाइयों के राज्य में से दो लाख पत्नियां, पुत्र और पुत्रियां बंदी बनाकर अपने साथ ले गए. इनके अलावा वे वहां से बड़ी लूट इकट्ठा कर शमरिया ले गए.

And the sones of Israel token of her britheren two hundrid thousynde of wymmen and of children and of damysels, and prey with out noumbre; and baren it in to Samarie.

9 मगर वहां याहवेह का एक भविष्यद्वक्ता था-ओदेद-वह शमरिया आई हुई सेना से भेंट करने चल पड़ा. उसने उन्हें कहा, “यह समझ लो: क्योंकि याहवेह, तुम्हारे पूर्वजों के परमेश्वर यहूदिया से गुस्सा थे, उन्होंने ही इन्हें तुम्हारे अधीन कर दिया है. तुमने क्रोध में उनका संहार ऐसी क्रूरता में किया है, कि यह बात परमेश्वर के ध्यान में आ गई है.

In that tempest a profete of the Lord, Obed bi name, was there, which yede out ayens the oost comynge in to Samarie, and seide to hem, Lo! the Lord God of youre fadris was wrooth ayens Juda, and bitook hem in youre hondis; and ye han slayn hem crueli, so that youre cruelte stretchide forth in to heuene.

10 अब तुम यह विचार कर रहे हो, कि इनका दमन कर यहूदिया और येरूशलेम वासियों के पुरुष और स्त्री को दास बनाओ, क्या यह सच नहीं कि तुम भी याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर के सामने अपराधी हो?

Ferthermore ye wolen make suget to you the sones of Juda and of Jerusalem in to seruauntis and handmaidis; which thing is not nedeful to be doon; for ye han synned on this thing to `youre Lord God.

11 इसलिये अब मेरी सुनो और इन बंदियों को, जिन्हें तुम अपने ही भाइयों में से पकड़कर ले आए हो, लौट जाने दो; क्योंकि अब याहवेह का तेज क्रोध तुम्हारे विरुद्ध भड़क रहा है.”

But here ye my councel, and lede ayen the prisounneris, whyche ye han brouyt of youre britheren; for greet veniaunce of the Lord neiyith to you.

12 तब एफ्राईम के वंशजों में के कुछ प्रमुख—येहोहानन का पुत्र अज़रियाह, मेशिल्लेमोथ का पुत्र बेरेखियाह, शल्लूम का पुत्र येहिज़किय्याह और हादलाई का पुत्र अमासा-उनके विरुद्ध हो गए, जो युद्ध से लौट रहे थे.

Therfor men of the princes of the sones of Effraym, Azarie, the sone of Johannan, Barachie, the sone of Mosollamoth, Jesechie, the sone of Sellum, and Amasie, the sone of Adali, stoden ayens hem that camen fro the batel;

13 इन्होंने उनसे कहा, “सही नहीं कि तुम बंदियों को यहां लाओ. इसके द्वारा तुम याहवेह के विरुद्ध हमारे पापों को बढ़ाना चाह रहे हो. हमारा दोष इतना बड़ा है कि इस्राएल के विरुद्ध याहवेह का क्रोध दहक रहा है.”

and seiden to hem, Ye schulen not brynge in hidur the prisoneris, lest we doen synne ayens the Lord; whi wolen ye `ley to on youre synnes, and heepe elde trespassis? For it is greet synne; the ire of the strong veniaunce of the Lord neiyeth on Israel.

14 तब योद्धाओं ने लूट की सामग्री और बंदियों को अधिकारियों और सारी सभा के सामने लाकर छोड़ दिया.

And the men werriouris leften the prey, and alle thingis whiche thei hadden take, bifor the princes and al the multitude.

15 तब वे लोग, जिन्हें चुना गया था, उठे, नंगे बंदियों को लूट सामग्री से निकालकर कपड़े पहनाए उन्हें जूतियां दी, उन्हें वस्त्र पहनाकर उन्हें भोजन और पानी दिया, तेल से उनका अभिषेक किया, उनके दुर्बलों को गधों पर चढ़ाया और उन्हें खजूर नगर यानी येरीख़ो तक उनके भाइयों के पास छोड़ आए फिर वे शमरिया लौट गए.

And the men stoden, whiche we remembriden bifore, and thei token the prisounneris, and clothiden of the spuylis alle that weren nakid; and whanne thei hadden clothid hem, and hadden schod, and hadden refreschid with mete and drynke, and hadden anoyntid for trauel, and hadden youe cure, `ether medecyn, to hem; `thei puttiden hem on horsis, whiche euere `myyten not go, and weren feble `of bodi, and brouyten to Jerico, a citee of palmes, to `the britheren of hem; and thei turneden ayen in to Samarie.

16 तब राजा आहाज़ ने अश्शूर के राजा से सहायता की विनती की.

In that tyme kyng Achaz sente to the kyng of Assiriens, and axide help.

17 एक बार फिर एदोमियों ने यहूदिया पर हमला किया और बहुतों को बंदी बना लिया.

And Ydumeis camen, and killiden many men of Juda, and token greet prey.

18 फिलिस्तीनियों ने भी तराई और यहूदिया के नेगेव पर चढ़ाई करके बेथ-शेमेश, अय्जालोन, गदेरोथ और सोकोह का उसके आस-पास के गांवों सहित, तिमनाह को उसके गांवों सहित और गिमज़ो को उसके गांवों सहित कब्जे में कर लिया और वे वहीं बस भी गए.

Also Filisteis weren spred abrood bi citees of the feeldis, and at the south of Juda; and thei token Bethsames, and Hailon, and Gaderoth, and Socoth, and Thannan, and Zamro, with her villagis; and dwelliden in tho.

19 याहवेह द्वारा यहूदिया को इस दयनीय स्थिति में डाले जाने के पीछे कारण थे यहूदिया के राजा आहाज़ की याहवेह के प्रति बड़ी विश्वासहीनता और उसके द्वारा यहूदिया में लाई गई दुष्टता.

For the Lord made low Juda for Achaz, the kyng of Juda; for he hadde maad him nakid of help, and hadde dispisid the Lord.

20 तब अश्शूर का राजा तिगलथ-पलेसेर वहां आया ज़रूर, मगर उसने आहाज़ की सहायता करने की बजाय उसे सताया.

And the Lord brouyte ayens him Teglat Phalasar, kyng of Assiriens, that turmentide hym, and waastide hym, while no man ayenstood.

21 यद्यपि आहाज़ ने याहवेह के भवन से, राजघराने से और प्रशासकों से धन लेकर अश्शूर के राजा को दे दी थी, इसका कोई लाभ न हुआ.

Therfor Achaz, after that he hadde spuylid the hows of the Lord, and the hows of the kyng and of princes, yaf yiftis to the kyng of Assiriens, and netheles it profitide `no thing to hym.

22 अपनी इस विपत्ति की स्थिति में यही राजा आहाज़ ने कई और बुरे पाप किये और याहवेह का और अधिक अविश्वासयोग्य बन गया.

Ferthermore also in the tyme of his angwisch he encreesside dispit ayens God; thilke kyng Achaz bi

23 क्योंकि अब वह दमेशेक के देवताओं को बलि चढ़ाने लगा था, जो वास्तव में उसकी हार के कारण थे. वह यह विचार करने लगा, “जब ये देवता अराम के राजा की सहायता कर सकते हैं तो, वे मेरी भी सहायता करेंगे.” मगर ये ही इस्राएल के पतन का कारण ठहरे.

24 इसके अलावा, आहाज़ ने परमेश्वर के भवन के सब बर्तनों को इकट्ठा करके उन पात्रों के टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दिये और याहवेह के भवन का द्वार बंद करवा दिए. उसने येरूशलेम के कोने-कोने में अपने लिए वेदियां बनवा लीं.

Therfor aftir that Achaz hadde take awei, and broke alle the vessels of the hows of God, he closide the yatis of Goddis temple, and made auteris to hym silf in alle the corneris of Jerusalem.

25 उसने यहूदिया के हर एक नगर में वेदियों को बनवाया, कि इन पर अन्य देवताओं के लिए धूप जलाई जा सके. इसके द्वारा उसने अपने पूर्वजों के परमेश्वर, याहवेह के क्रोध को भड़का दिया.

And in alle citees of Juda he bildide auteris to brenne encence, and he stiride the Lord God of hise fadris to wrathfulnesse.

26 आहाज़ के बाकी कामों और उसकी सारी नीतियों का वर्णन शुरू से अंत तक, यहूदिया और इस्राएल के राजा की पुस्तक में किया गया है.

Sotheli the residue of hise wordis and of alle hise werkis, the formere and the laste, ben writun in the book of kyngis of Juda and of Israel.

27 तब आहाज़ हमेशा के लिए अपने पूर्वजों से जा मिला. उन्होंने उसे येरूशलेम नगर में ही गाड़ दिया. उन्होंने उसे इस्राएल के राजाओं के लिए ठहराई गई कब्रों में जगह नहीं दी. उसके स्थान पर उसका पुत्र हिज़किय्याह राजा हुआ.

And Achaz slepte with hise fadris, and thei birieden hym in the citee of Jerusalem; for thei resseyueden not hym in the sepulcris of the kyngis of Israel; and Ezechie, his sone, regnede for hym.
