1 जब योथाम शासन करने लगा तब उसकी उम्र पच्चीस साल थी. उसने येरूशलेम में सोलह साल शासन किया. उसकी माता का नाम येरूशा था, वह सादोक की पुत्री थी.

Twenty and five years old was Jotham when he became king, and sixteen years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yerushah, the daughter of Zadok.

2 उसने वह किया, जो याहवेह की दृष्टि में सही था, जैसा उसके पिता उज्जियाह ने किया था. हां, उसने याहवेह के मंदिर में प्रवेश नहीं किया. मगर प्रजा में भ्रष्टाचार फैला था.

And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that his father 'Uzziyahu had done: only he entered not into the temple of the Lord. But the people acted still corruptly.

3 उसने याहवेह के भवन के ऊपरी द्वार को बनवाया. उसने शहरपनाह के उस भाग को बनवाया, जिसे ओफेल कहा जाता था.

He it was that built the upper gate of the house of the Lord, and on the wall of the hill-fort he built much.

4 इसके अलावा उसने यहूदिया के पहाड़ी क्षेत्र में नगरों को बनवाया. उसने जंगली पहाड़ियों पर गढ़ और पहरेदारों के मीनारों को बनवाया.

Moreover he built cities in the mountain of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.

5 उसने अम्मोनी राजा से युद्ध किया और उन पर विजयी हुआ. फलस्वरूप अम्मोनियों ने उसे उस साल साढ़े तीन हज़ार किलो चांदी, 1,800 टन गेहूं और 1,800 टन जौ भेंट और कर के रूप में दिया. यही सब अम्मोनियों ने उसे दूसरे और तीसरे साल में भी दिया.

And he likewise fought with the king of the sons of 'Ammon, and prevailed against them. And the children of 'Ammon gave him in that same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of 'Ammon pay unto him again, both in the second year, and in the third.

6 तब योथाम बलवान हो गया क्योंकि उसने अपनी नीतियां याहवेह अपने परमेश्वर की खुशी के अनुसार बनाई थी.

So Jotham became strong; because he directed his ways before the Lord his God.

7 योथाम के बाकी काम, उसके युद्ध, उसके दूसरे काम इस्राएल और यहूदिया के राजा नामक पुस्तक में लिखे हैं.

And the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

8 शासन शुरू करते समय उसकी उम्र पच्चीस साल थी. उसने येरूशलेम में सोलह साल शासन किया.

Five and twenty years old was he when he became king, and sixteen years did he reign in Jerusalem.

9 योथाम हमेशा के लिए अपने पूर्वजों से जा मिला. उन्होंने उसे दावीद के नगर में गाड़ दिया. उसके स्थान पर उसका पुत्र आहाज़ राजा बना.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Achaz his son became king in his stead.
