1 यहूदिया की सारी प्रजा ने सोलह साल के उज्जियाह को उसके पिता अमाज़्याह के स्थान पर राजा होने के लिए चुन लिया.
And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2 उसने अपने पिता की मृत्यु के बाद एलाथ को बनवाकर उसे दोबारा यहूदिया में शामिल कर लिया.
He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
3 उस समय उज्जियाह की उम्र सोलह साल थी. येरूशलेम में उसने बावन साल शासन किया. उसकी माता का नाम यकोलियाह था; वह येरूशलेमवासी थी.
Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
4 उज्जियाह ने अपने पिता अमाज़्याह समान वही किया, जो याहवेह की दृष्टि में सही है.
And he did that, which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.
5 ज़करयाह के जीवनकाल में परमेश्वर की खोज करता रहा. याहवेह के दर्शन के कारण ज़करयाह में समझ थी. जब तक वह याहवेह की खोज करता रहा, याहवेह उसे और बढ़ाते रहे.
And he set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
6 उज्जियाह ने फिलिस्तीनियों पर हमला किया और गाथ, याबनेह और अशदोद की शहरपनाह गिरा दीं. अशदोद में और फिलिस्तीनियों के बीच उसने इस क्षेत्र में नगरों को बनाया.
And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 फिलिस्तीनियों और अरबियों के विरुद्ध जो गुर-बाल और मिऊनी में रहते थे, परमेश्वर ने उसकी सहायता की.
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Meunim.
8 अम्मोनवासी भी उज्जियाह को कर देते थे. उसका यश मिस्र की सीमा तक पहुंच गया था, क्योंकि वह बलवान हो चुका था.
And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah; and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he waxed exceeding strong.
9 इनके अलावा उज्जियाह ने येरूशलेम में कोने के फाटक और घाटी के फाटक पर पहरेदारों के लिए खंभों को बनवाया और किले की दीवारों को मजबूत बनाने के लिए उनमें गुम्मट बनवाए.
Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the Turning, and fortified them.
10 बंजर भूमि में उसने पहरेदारों के खंभे खड़े किए और अनेक तालाबों को भी बनवाया, क्योंकि मैदानों में बड़ी संख्या में उसके पशु थे. पहाड़ी इलाके में उसके किसान और अंगूर के बगीचों के रखवाले थे. उसके अनेक उपजाऊ खेत भी थे, क्योंकि खेती उसे प्यारी थी.
And be built towers in the wilderness, and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much cattle; in the Lowland also, and in the table-land; and he had husbandmen and vinedressers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved husbandry.
11 इसके अलावा उसकी वीर सेना युद्ध के लिए तैयार रहती थी. इसको दलों के रूप में बांटा गया था. इनकी भर्ती और संगठन राजा के अधिकारी हननियाह की आज्ञा में सचिव येइएल और अधिकारी मआसेइयाह द्वारा की गई थी.
Moreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.
12 हर एक गोत्र से चुने हुए बलवान वीर योद्धा थे, जिनकी कुल संख्या दो हज़ार छः सौ थी.
The whole number of the heads of fathers' houses, even the mighty men of valour, was two thousand and six hundred.
13 इनके अधिकार में थी एक बड़ी सेना, जिसकी गिनती थी तीन लाख साढ़े सात हज़ार. ये राजा के विरुद्ध उठे किसी भी शत्रु पर बहुत बल से वार कर सकते थे.
And under their hand was a trained army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14 इसके अलावा उज्जियाह ने पूरी सेना के लिए ढालें, बर्छियों, टोप झिलम, धनुष और गोफन तैयार कर रखी थी.
And Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
15 कुशल शिल्पियों द्वारा आविष्कार किए गए यंत्र और उपकरण उसने येरूशलेम में रखवा रखे थे. ये यंत्र पहरेदारों के मीनारों और शहरपनाह के कोनों पर बाण छोड़ने और बड़े-बड़े पत्थर फेंकने के लिए बनाए गए थे. इनके कारण उसकी ख्याति दूर-दूर तक पहुंच चुकी थी. जब तक उसमें शक्ति रही उसे अद्धुत रूप से सहायता मिलती रही.
And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and upon the corners, wherewith to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
16 जब वह इस प्रकार मजबूत होता गया, घमण्ड़ ने उसे आ घेरा. वह याहवेह उसके परमेश्वर के लिए सच्चा भी न रह गया. वह याहवेह के मंदिर में चला गया कि वह धूप वेदी पर धूप जलाए.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against the LORD his God; for he went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17 इस पर पुरोहित अज़रियाह उसके पीछे-पीछे गया और उसके साथ याहवेह के अस्सी बलवान पुरोहित भी थे.
And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men;
18 उन्होंने राजा उज्जियाह को मना करते हुए कहा, “उज्जियाह, याहवेह के लिए धूप जलाना आपका काम नहीं है, यह केवल पुरोहितों के लिए ही ठहराया गया है, जो अहरोन के वंशज और धूप जलाने के लिए अलग किए हुए हैं. आप पवित्र स्थान से बाहर चले जाइए, क्योंकि आप याहवेह परमेश्वर के प्रति सच्चे नहीं रहे हैं, इसलिये आपको उनकी ओर से कोई आदर न मिलेगा.”
and they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him: 'It pertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron that are consecrated it pertaineth to burn incense; go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thy honour from the LORD God.'
19 उज्जियाह यह सुनकर बहुत गुस्सा हो गया. धूप जलाने के लिए उसके हाथ में धूपदान था. जब वह पुरोहितों पर गुस्सा हो ही रहा था, याहवेह के भवन में धूप वेदी के निकट पुरोहितों के देखते-देखते उसके माथे पर कुष्ठ रोग हो गया.
Then Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy broke forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the altar of incense.
20 प्रमुख पुरोहित अज़रियाह और दूसरे सभी पुरोहित उसकी ओर देख रहे थे. वह माथे पर कोढ़ी हो चुका था. उन्होंने उसे बिना देर किए बाहर निकाला-वास्तव में वह खुद वहां से निकलने के लिए आतुर था, क्योंकि वह जान गया था कि उस पर याहवेह का प्रहार था.
And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from thence; yea, himself made haste also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
21 मृत्यु तक राजा उज्जियाह कुष्ठरोगी रहा. वह एक अलग घर में रहने लगा, क्योंकि वह कुष्ठरोगी था. याहवेह के भवन में उसका जाना मना हो गया. उसका पुत्र योथाम अब राजमहल पर अधिकारी हो प्रजा का न्याय करने लगा.
And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a house set apart, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD; and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.
22 शुरू से अंत तक, उज्जियाह द्वारा किए गए बाकी कामों का ब्यौरा आमोज़ के पुत्र भविष्यद्वक्ता यशायाह द्वारा किया गया है.
Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
23 तब उज्जियाह हमेशा के लिए अपने पूर्वजों से जा मिला. उन्होंने उसे राजाओं के लिए ठहराई गई की कब्र में गाड़ दिया, क्योंकि उन्होंने कहा वह तो कुष्ठरोगी है. उसका पुत्र योथाम उसके स्थान पर राजा हो गया.
So Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said: 'He is a leper'; and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
