1 यहोशाफ़ात अब समृद्ध और सम्मान्य हो चुका था. उसने विवाह के द्वारा अहाब से संबंध बना लिए.
Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance, and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.
2 इसके कुछ साल बाद यहोशाफ़ात अहाब से भेंट करने शमरिया गया. यहोशाफ़ात और उसके संगियों के सम्मान में भोज के लिए अहाब ने अनेक भेड़ों और बछड़ों का वध किया. इसके द्वारा अहाब ने उन्हें रामोथ-गिलआद पर हमला करने के लिए उकसाया.
And some years later he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria, where Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle for him and the people with him, and urged him to march up to Ramoth-gilead.
3 इस्राएल के राजा अहाब ने यहूदिया के राजा यहोशाफ़ात से कहा, “क्या आप मेरे साथ रामोथ-गिलआद पर हमला करने चलेंगे?” यहोशाफ़ात ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “मैं आपके साथ हूं, मेरी प्रजा आपकी प्रजा है हम युद्ध में आपका साथ देंगे.”
Ahab king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat replied, “I am like you, and my people are your people; we will join you in the war.”
4 यहोशाफ़ात ने इस्राएल के राजा से कहा, “सबसे पहले याहवेह की इच्छा मालूम कर लें.”
But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of the LORD.”
5 तब इस्राएल के राजा ने भविष्यवक्ताओं को इकट्ठा किया. ये चार सौ व्यक्ति थे. उसने भविष्यवक्ताओं से प्रश्न किया, “मैं रामोथ-गिलआद से युद्ध करने जाऊं, या यह विचार छोड़ दूं?” उन्होंने उत्तर दिया, “आप जाइए, क्योंकि परमेश्वर उसे राजा के अधीन कर देंगे.”
So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, “Should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up,” they replied, “and God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
6 मगर यहोशाफ़ात ने प्रश्न किया, “क्या यहां याहवेह का कोई भविष्यद्वक्ता नहीं, जिससे हम यह मालूम कर सकें?”
But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here of whom we can inquire?”
7 इस्राएल के राजा ने यहोशाफ़ात को उत्तर दिया, “एक व्यक्ति है. ज़रूर, जिससे हम याहवेह की इच्छा मालूम कर सकते है, मगर मुझे उससे घृणा है, क्योंकि वह मेरे लिए भली तो नहीं बल्कि बुरी ही भविष्यवाणी करता है, मीकायाह, इमलाह का पुत्र.” यहोशाफ़ात ने इस पर कहा, “राजा का ऐसा कहना सही नहीं है.”
The king of Israel answered, “There is still one man who can ask the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good for me, but only bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” “The king should not say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.
8 तब इस्राएल के राजा ने अपने एक अधिकारी को बुलाकर आदेश दिया, “जल्दी ही इमलाह के पुत्र मीकायाह को ले आओ.”
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”
9 इस्राएल का राजा और यहूदिया के राजा यहोशाफ़ात शमरिया के फाटक के सामने खुले खलिहान में राजसी वस्त्रों में अपने-अपने सिंहासनों पर बैठे थे. उनके सामने सारे भविष्यद्वक्ता भविष्यवाणी कर रहे थे.
Dressed in royal attire, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.
10 तभी केनानाह का पुत्र सीदकियाहू, जिसने अपने लिए लोहे के सींग बनाए थे, कहने लगा, “यह संदेश याहवेह की ओर से है: ‘इन सींगों के द्वारा आप अरामियों पर इस रीति से वार करेंगे, कि वे खत्म हो जाएंगे.’”
Now Zedekiah son of Chenaanah had made for himself iron horns and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are finished off.’”
11 सारे भविष्यद्वक्ता यही भविष्यवाणी कर रहे थे. “रामोथ-गिलआद पर हमला कीजिए और विजयी हो जाइए. याहवेह इसे राजा के अधीन कर देंगे.”
And all the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper, for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
12 जो दूत मीकायाह को लेने गया हुआ था, उसने मीकायाह को आदेश दिया, “सुनो एक साथ सभी भविष्यवक्ताओं का संदेश राजा के लिए अनुकूल है; ऐसा करो कि तुम्हारी भविष्यवाणी भी उनमें से एक के समान ही हो. जो कहो, वह ठीक ही हो.”
Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah instructed him, “Behold, with one accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak favorably.”
13 मगर मीकायाह ने कहा, “जीवित याहवेह की शपथ, मैं सिर्फ वही कहूंगा, जो मेरे परमेश्वर मुझसे कहेंगे.”
But Micaiah said, “As surely as the LORD lives, I will speak whatever my God tells me.”
14 जब वह राजा के सामने पहुंचा, राजा ने उससे कहा, “बताओ, मीकायाह, क्या हम रामोथ-गिलआद से युद्ध करने जाएं या नहीं?” मीकायाह ने उत्तर दिया, “जाकर जयवंत हो जाइए! वे आपके अधीन कर दिए जाएंगे.”
When Micaiah arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up and triumph,” Micaiah replied, “for they will be given into your hand.”
15 राजा ने मीकायाह से कहा, “मीकायाह, मुझे तुम्हें कितनी बार इसकी शपथ दिलानी होगी कि तुम्हें मुझसे याहवेह के नाम में सच के सिवाय और कुछ भी नहीं कहना है?”
But the king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”
16 तब मीकायाह ने उत्तर दिया, “मैंने सारे इस्राएल को बिन चरवाहे की भेड़ों के समान पहाड़ों पर तितर-बितर देखा. तभी याहवेह ने कहा, ‘इनका तो कोई स्वामी ही नहीं है. हर एक को शांतिपूर्वक अपने-अपने घर लौट जाने दो.’”
So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”
17 इस्राएल के राजा ने यहोशाफ़ात से कहा, “देखा? मैंने कहा था न कि यह मेरे लिए भली नहीं बल्कि बुरी भविष्यवाणी ही करेगा?”
Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he never prophesies good for me, but only bad?”
18 यह सुन मीकायाह ने कहा, “बहुत बढ़िया! इसलिये अब याहवेह का संदेश सुन लीजिए: मैंने याहवेह को सिंहासन पर बैठे देखा. उनके दाएं और बाएं स्वर्गिक समुदाय खड़े हुए थे.
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.
19 याहवेह ने वहां प्रश्न किया, ‘यहां कौन है, जो इस्राएल के राजा अहाब को ऐसे लुभाएगा कि वह रामोथ-गिलआद जाए और वहां जाकर मारा जाए?’ “किसी ने वहां कुछ उत्तर दिया और किसी ने कुछ और.
And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to march up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one suggested this, and another that.
20 तब वहां एक आत्मा आकर याहवेह के सामने खड़ी होकर यह कहने लगी, ‘मैं उसे लुभाऊंगी.’ “याहवेह ने पूछा, ‘कैसे?’
Then a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ ‘By what means?’ asked the LORD.
21 “उसने उत्तर दिया, ‘मैं जाकर राजा के सभी भविष्यवक्ताओं के मुख में झूठी आत्मा बन जाऊंगी.’ “‘इस पर याहवेह ने कहा, तुम्हें इसमें सफल भी होना होगा. जाओ और यही करो.’
And he replied, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ ‘You will surely entice him and prevail,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’
22 “इसलिये देख लीजिए, याहवेह ने इन सारे भविष्यवक्ताओं के मुंह में छल का एक आत्मा डाल रखा है. आपके लिए याहवेह ने सर्वनाश की घोषणा कर दी है.”
So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced disaster against you.”
23 यह सुन केनानाह का पुत्र सीदकियाहू सामने आया और मीकायाह के गाल पर मारते हुए कहने लगा, “याहवेह का आत्मा मुझमें से निकलकर तुमसे बातचीत करने किस प्रकार जा पहुंचा?”
Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah went up, struck Micaiah in the face, and demanded, “Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go when He departed from me to speak with you?”
24 मीकायाह ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “तुम यह देख लेना, जब उस दिन तुम छिपने के लिए भीतर के कमरे में शरण लोगे.”
Micaiah replied, “You will soon see, on that day when you go and hide in an inner room.”
25 इस्राएल के राजा ने कहा, “पकड़ लो, मीकायाह को! उसे नगर के हाकिम अमोन और राजकुमार योआश के पास ले जाओ.
And the king of Israel declared, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son,
26 उनसे कहना, ‘यह राजा का आदेश है: “इस व्यक्ति को जेल में डाल दो और इसे उस समय तक ज़रा सा ही भोजन और पानी देना, जब तक मैं सुरक्षित न लौट आऊं.”’”
and tell them that this is what the king says: ‘Put this man in prison and feed him only bread and water until I return safely.’”
27 इस पर मीकायाह ने कहा, “यदि आप सच में सकुशल लौट आएं, तो यह समझ लीजिए कि याहवेह ने मेरे द्वारा यह सब प्रकट किया ही नहीं है.” और फिर भीड़ से उसने कहा, “आप सब भी यह सुन लीजिए!”
But Micaiah replied, “If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Take heed, all you people!”
28 फिर भी इस्राएल के राजा और यहूदिया के राजा यहोशाफ़ात ने रामोथ-गिलआद पर हमला कर दिया.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
29 इस्राएल के राजा ने यहोशाफ़ात से कहा, “मैं भेष बदलकर युद्ध-भूमि में जाऊंगा, मगर आप अपनी राजसी वेशभूषा ही पहने रहिए.” इस्राएल का राजा भेष बदलकर युद्ध-भूमि में गया.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.
30 अराम के राजा ने अपनी रथ सेना के प्रधानों को आदेश दे रखा था, “युद्ध न तो साधारण सैनिकों से करना और न मुख्य अधिकारियों से सिर्फ इस्राएल के राजा को निशाना बनाना.”
Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders, “Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”
31 जब रथों के सेनापतियों की नज़र यहोशाफ़ात पर पड़ी, वे समझे वह इस्राएल का राजा है. वे उसी पर वार करने आगे बढ़े. यहोशाफ़ात चिल्ला उठा. याहवेह ने उसकी सहायता की और परमेश्वर उन्हें यहोशाफ़ात से दूर ले गए.
When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “This is the king of Israel!” So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.
32 जब प्रधानों ने देखा कि वह इस्राएल का राजा नहीं था, उन्होंने उसका पीछा करना छोड़ दिया.
And when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
33 किसी एक सैनिक ने बिना विचारे, बिना किसी लक्ष्य के एक बाण छोड़ दिया. यह बाण वहां जा लगा, जहां इस्राएल के राजा की कवच और कमरबंध का जोड़ था. तब राजा ने सारथी को आदेश दिया, “रथ को मोड़कर युद्ध-भूमि से बाहर चलो, क्योंकि मेरा घाव गहरा है.”
However, a certain man drew his bow without taking special aim, and he struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So the king said to his charioteer, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am badly wounded!”
34 उस दिन युद्ध घमासान होता गया. इस्राएल का राजा अपने रथ में अरामियों को दिखाने के उद्देश्य से शाम तक बाण से टिका रहा. शाम को उसकी मृत्यु हो गई.
The battle raged throughout that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. And at sunset he died.
