1 येरूशलेम पहुंचते ही रिहोबोयाम ने यहूदाह और बिन्यामिन गोत्र को इकट्ठा किया. ये एक लाख अस्सी हज़ार अच्छे योद्धा इस उद्देश्य से इकट्ठा किए गए थे कि ये इस्राएल से युद्ध करें, कि रिहोबोयाम का राज्य उसके हाथ में दोबारा आ जाए.
And when Rehoboam had entered Jerusalem, he called together the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, warriors, —to fight against Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehoboam.
2 मगर परमेश्वर के जन शेमायाह को याहवेह का यह संदेश भेजा गया:
Then came the word of Yahweh, unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying:
3 “शलोमोन के पुत्र, यहूदिया के शासक रिहोबोयाम से और यहूदिया और बिन्यामिन प्रदेश के सभी इस्राएलियों में यह घोषणा कर दो,
Speak unto Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, —and unto all Israel in Judah and in Benjamin, saying:
4 ‘यह याहवेह का वचन है तुम अपने ही संबंधियों पर हमला नहीं करोगे. सभी अपने-अपने घर को लौट जाएं; क्योंकि इस स्थिति को मैं ही लाया हूं.’” उन्होंने याहवेह के संदेश के ही अनुसार किया और उन्होंने यरोबोअम पर हमला करने का विचार छोड़ दिया.
Thus, saith Yahweh, Ye shall not go up neither shall ye fight against your brethren, return every man to his own house, for, from me, hath this thing been brought about. So they hearkened unto the words of Yahweh, and turned back from going against Jeroboam.
5 रिहोबोयाम येरूशलेम में रहता रहा. वह यहूदिया की सुरक्षा के हित में नगरों को बनाता गया.
And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, —and built cities for defence, in Judah;
6 वे ये थे: बेथलेहेम, एथाम, तकोआ,
yea he built Bethlehem and Etam, and Tekoa;
7 बेथ-त्सूर, सोकोह, अदुल्लाम,
and Beth-zur and Soco, and Adullam;
8 गाथ, मारेशाह, ज़ीफ़,
and Gath and Mareshah, and Ziph;
9 अदोराईम, लाकीश, अज़ेका,
and Adoraim and Lachish, and Azekah;
10 ज़ोराह, अय्जालोन और हेब्रोन. ये सभी यहूदिया और बिन्यामिन प्रदेश के गढ़नगर थे.
and Zorah, and Aijalon and Hebron, which are in Judah and Benjamin, —as fortified cities.
11 उसने गढ़ों को मजबूत बनाया, उनमें अधिकारी ठहराए और इनमें भोजन सामग्री, तेल और अंगूर के रस के भंडार रखवा दिए.
And he strengthened the fortified places, —and put therein captains, and stores of food, and oil and wine;
12 उसने हर एक नगर में ढालें और बर्छियां रख दीं और इन नगरों को बहुत ही मजबूत सुरक्षा के नगर बना दिए. इस प्रकार यहूदिया और बिन्यामिन प्रदेश ही उसके अधिकार में रह गए.
and, in every several city, shields and spears, and made them exceedingly strong, —thus Judah and Benjamin remained his.
13 पूरे इस्राएल के पुरोहित और लेवी वंशज रिहोबोयाम से सहमत थे और वे उसके साथ हो गए.
And, the priests and Levites that were in all Israel, took their stand with him, out of all their boundaries.
14 यरोबोअम और उसके पुत्रों द्वारा याहवेह के लिए लेवियों की पौरोहितिक सेवा पर रोक लगाने के कारण वे अपनी चरागाह और संपत्ति को त्याग कर यहूदिया और येरूशलेम आ गए.
For the Levites left their pasture lands, and their possessions, and came to Judah, and to Jerusalem, —for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, from ministering as priests unto Yahweh;
15 यरोबोअम ने पूजा स्थलों पर बकरे देवता और बछड़े देवताओं की मूर्तियां प्रतिष्ठित कर दीं और इनके लिए खुद अपने ही चुने हुए व्यक्तियों को पुरोहित बना दिया.
and appointed for himself priests for the high places, and for the demons—and for the calves which he had made.
16 इस्राएल के सारे गोत्रों में से वे लोग, जो हृदय से इस्राएल के परमेश्वर याहवेह के खोजी थे, इन पुरोहितों और लेवियों का अनुसरण करते हुए अपने पूर्वजों के याहवेह परमेश्वर के लिए बलि चढ़ाने येरूशलेम चले जाते थे.
And, after them—out of all the tribes of Israel, such as were setting their heart to seek Yahweh God of Israel, came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto Yahweh, God of their fathers.
17 ये लोग तीन साल तक शलोमोन के पुत्र रिहोबोयाम का समर्थन करने के द्वारा यहूदिया राज्य को मजबूत बना रहे थे, क्योंकि वे दावीद और शलोमोन की नीतियों का पालन तीन साल तक करते रहे.
So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and emboldened Rehoboam son of Solomon, for three years, —for they walked in the way of David and Solomon, for three years.
18 रिहोबोयाम ने दावीद की पोती, येरीमोथ की पुत्री माहलाथ से विवाह कर लिया. येरीमोथ की माता का नाम अबीहाइल था, वह यिशै के पुत्र एलियाब की पुत्री थी.
And Rehoboam took him to wife, Mahalath, daughter of Jerimoth, son of David, —and Abihail, daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse;
19 माहलाथ से उत्पन्न रिहोबाम के पुत्रों के नाम ये: है येऊश, शेमारियाह और त्सेहाम.
and she bare him sons, —Jeush and Shamariah and Zaham.
20 इसके बाद उसने अबशालोम की पुत्री माकाह से विवाह किया, जिससे पैदा उसके पुत्रों के नाम है अबीयाह, अत्तई, ज़िज़ा और शेलोमीथ.
And, after her, he took Maacah, daughter of Absolom, —and she bare him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 रिहोबोयाम को अबशालोम की पुत्री माकाह बहुत प्रिय थी-अपनी दूसरी पत्नियों और उपपत्नियों से अधिक. उसकी अठारह पत्नियां और साठ उपपत्नियां थी. इनसे उसके अट्ठाईस पुत्र और साठ पुत्रियां पैदा हुई.
And Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absolom, above all his wives and his concubines, for, eighteen wives, took he, and sixty concubines, —and begat twenty-eight sons, and sixty daughters.
22 रिहोबोयाम ने माकाह के पुत्र अबीयाह को उसके भाइयों के ऊपर प्रधान और उनका अगुआ बनाया; क्योंकि उसकी इच्छा थी कि वह उसे राजा बनाए.
So then Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah as head, to be chief ruler among his brethren, —yea that he might make him king.
23 बड़ी ही बुद्धिमानी से उसने अपने कुछ पुत्रों को यहूदिया और बिन्यामिन राज्य की सीमा में सारे गढ़ नगरों में अलग-अलग ज़िम्मेदारियां सौंप दीं और उनके लिए बहुत मात्रा में भोजन की व्यवस्था भी कर दी. इसके अलावा उसने इन सबके लिए अनेक पत्नियों का प्रबंध भी कर दिया.
So he took heed, and dispersed all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, unto all the fortified cities, and gave them food in abundance, —and asked a multitude of wives.
