1 दावीद के पुत्र शलोमोन ने अपने राज्य पर अपने आपको सुरक्षा के साथ मजबूत कर लिया. याहवेह उनके परमेश्वर उनके साथ थे. परमेश्वर ने उन्हें बहुत ही उन्‍नत किया.

Solomon, son of David, strengthened his hold over the kingdom, and the Lord God was with him and made him extremely powerful.

2 शलोमोन ने सारे इस्राएल, सहस्रपतियों और शतपतियों, न्यायाध्यक्षों, सारे इस्राएल में हर एक अगुओं और पितरों के प्रधानों को बुलाकर उनसे बातचीत की.

Solomon sent for all the Israelite leaders, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every family leader.

3 शलोमोन और उनके साथ यह सभा उठकर गिबयोन के ऊंचे स्थान पर गई, क्योंकि याहवेह के सेवक मोशेह द्वारा बंजर भूमि में बनाया गया परमेश्वर का मिलापवाला तंबू वहीं था.

Solomon went with the whole assembly to the high place at Gibeon, for this was the site of God's Tent of Meeting that Moses, the Lord's servant, had made in the wilderness.

4 हां, दावीद किरयथ-यआरीम से परमेश्वर का संदूक उस विशेष स्थान पर ले आए थे, जो उन्होंने इसी के लिए तैयार किया था, क्योंकि इसके लिए दावीद ने येरूशलेम में खास तंबू खड़ा किया था.

David had brought up the Ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the place in Jerusalem where he had set up a tent for it.

5 इस समय वह कांसे की वेदी, जिसको उरी के पुत्र, हूर के पोते बसलेल ने बनाया था, याहवेह के मिलनवाले तंबू के सामने ही थी. शलोमोन और सभा ने इससे याहवेह की इच्छा मालूम की.

However, the bronze altar made by Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, was there in front of the Tent of the Lord, so that is where Solomon and the assembly went to worship.

6 शलोमोन कांसे की वेदी के पास याहवेह के सामने आए, जो मिलनवाले तंबू में थी. वहां उस पर उन्होंने एक हज़ार होमबलियां चढ़ाईं.

Solomon went up to the bronze altar before the Lord, in front of the Tent of Meeting. There he presented one thousand burnt offerings.

7 उस रात परमेश्वर शलोमोन पर प्रकट हुए और उनसे कहा, “मुझसे जो चाहो, मांग लो.”

That night God appeared to Solomon and told him, “Ask what you want me to give you.”

8 शलोमोन ने परमेश्वर से कहा, “मेरे पिता दावीद के साथ आपका व्यवहार बहुत ही करुणा भरा रहा है. अब आपने मुझे उनके स्थान पर राजा बनाया है.

Solomon responded to God, “You showed trustworthy love without limit to my father David, and you have made me king in his place.

9 अब, याहवेह परमेश्वर, मेरे पिता दावीद से की गई आपकी प्रतिज्ञा पूरी हो गई है, क्योंकि आपने मुझे ऐसे अनगिनत लोगों पर राजा बनाया है, जो भूमि की धूल के समान अनगिनत हैं.

Lord God, please keep the promise you made to my father David. You have made me king over a nation that has as many people as the dust of the earth.

10 अब मुझे बुद्धि और ज्ञान दीजिए कि मैं इस प्रजा के सामने आना-जाना कर सकूं, क्योंकि किसमें आपकी इतनी बड़ी प्रजा पर शासन करने की क्षमता है?”

Please give me wisdom and knowledge to lead this people—for who can rule with justice this great people of yours?”

11 परमेश्वर ने शलोमोन को उत्तर दिया, “इसलिये कि यही तुम्हारे मन इच्छा रही है और तुमने मुझसे न तो धन-संपत्ति, न वैभव, न कीर्ति न अपने शत्रुओं के प्राण और न अपने लिए लंबी उम्र की विनती की है, मगर तुमने अपने लिए बुद्धि और ज्ञान की विनती की है कि तुम मेरी प्रजा का शासन कर सको, जिस पर मैंने तुम्हें राजा बनाया है.

God told Solomon: “Because this is what you really wanted, and you didn't ask for wealth, possessions, or honor, or the death of those who hate you, or for a long life, but instead you asked for wisdom and knowledge so you can rule with justice my people that I have made you king over;

12 बुद्धि और ज्ञान तुम्हें दिए जा चुके हैं. मैं तुम्हें समृद्धि, धन संपदा और सम्मान भी दूंगा, इतना, जितना तुम्हारे पहले किसी भी राजा ने नहीं पाया और न ही तुम्हारे बाद किसी को मिलेगा.”

wisdom and knowledge is given to you. I will give you wealth, possessions, and honor as well, much more than any king who came before you has had, or who comes after you will ever have.”

13 शलोमोन गिबयोन में याहवेह की उपस्थिति के मिलनवाले तंबू से येरूशलेम लौट गए. वहां उन्होंने इस्राएल पर शासन करना शुरू किया.

Then Solomon returned to Jerusalem from the Tent of Meeting in Gibeon, and he ruled over Israel.

14 शलोमोन ने अब तक एक हज़ार चार सौ रथ, बारह हज़ार घुड़सवार इकट्ठा कर लिए थे. इन सबको उसने रथों के लिए बनाए नगरों और येरूशलेम में राजा के लिए ठहराए गए स्थानों पर रखवा दिया था.

Solomon built up an army of chariots and horses. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horses, which he placed in the chariot cities, and also with him in Jerusalem.

15 राजा द्वारा येरूशलेम में चांदी और सोना का मूल्य वैसा ही कर दिया गया था, जैसा पत्थरों का होता है और देवदार की लकड़ी का ऐसा जैसे तराई के गूलर के पेड़ों का.

The king made silver and gold as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore-figs trees in the foothills.

16 शलोमोन घोड़ों का आयात मिस्र और कवे से करते थे. राजा के व्यापारी इन्हें दाम देकर कवे से लाया करते थे.

Solomon imported horses for himself from Egypt and Kue; the king's traders bought them in Kue.

17 मिस्र से लाए गए एक रथ की कीमत होती थी चांदी के छः सौ सिक्‍के. इसी प्रकार राजा के व्यापारी इनका निर्यात सभी हित्ती और अरामी राजाओं को कर देते थे.

A chariot could be imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. In the same way they exported them to all the Hittite kings and the Aramean kings.
