1 तीमुथियुस 5
1 अपने से अधिक उम्र के व्यक्ति को अपमान के भाव से न डांटो किंतु उसे पिता मानकर उससे विनती करो. अपने से कम उम्र के व्यक्ति को भाई,
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat [him] as a father; [and] the younger men as brethren;
2 अधिक उम्र की स्त्रियों को माता तथा कम उम्र की स्त्रियों को निर्मल भाव से बहन मानो.
The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 असमर्थ विधवाओं का सम्मान करो.
Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 परंतु यदि किसी विधवा के पुत्र-पौत्र हों तो वे सबसे पहले अपने ही परिवार के प्रति अपने कर्तव्य-पालन द्वारा परमेश्वर के भक्त होना सीखें तथा अपने माता-पिता के उपकारों का फल दें क्योंकि परमेश्वर को यही भाता है.
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5 वह, जो वास्तव में विधवा है तथा जो अकेली रह गई है, परमेश्वर पर ही आश्रित रहती है और दिन-रात परमेश्वर से विनती तथा प्रार्थना करने में लवलीन रहती है.
Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 पर वह विधवा, जिसकी जीवनशैली निर्लज्जता भरी है, जीते जी मरी हुई है.
But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 तुम उन्हें ऊपर बताए गए निर्देश भी दो कि वे निर्दोष रहें.
And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 यदि कोई अपने परिजनों, विशेषकर अपने परिवार की चिंता नहीं करता है, उसने विश्वास का त्याग कर दिया है और वह अविश्वासी व्यक्ति से भी तुच्छ है.
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 उसी विधवा का पंजीकरण करो जिसकी आयु साठ वर्ष से अधिक हो तथा जिसका एक ही पति रहा हो;
Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,
10 जो अपने भले कामों के लिए सुनाम हो; जिसने अपनी संतान का उत्तम पालन पोषण किया हो; आतिथ्य सत्कार किया हो; पवित्र लोगों के चरण धोए हों; दीन-दुःखियों की सहायता की हो तथा सब प्रकार के भले कामों में लीन रही हो.
Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11 तुलना में कम आयु की विधवाओं के नाम न लिखना क्योंकि काम-वासना प्रबल होने पर वे मसीह से दूर हो दूसरे विवाह की कामना करने लगेंगी.
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 न्याय-दंड ही उनकी नियति होगी क्योंकि उन्होंने पंजीकरण से संबंधित अपनी पूर्व शपथ तोड़ दी है.
Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13 इसके अलावा वे आलसी रहने लगती हैं तथा घर-घर घूमा करती हैं. वे न केवल आलसी रहती हैं परंतु बाकियों के कामों में हस्तक्षेप करती तथा दूसरों की बुराई में आनंद लेती हैं, तथा वे बातें बोलती है, जो उन्हें नहीं बोलनी चाहिये.
And withal they learn [to be] idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 इसलिये मैं चाहता हूं कि कम आयु की विधवाएं विवाह करें, संतान पैदा करें, गृहस्थी सम्भालें तथा विरोधियों को निंदा का कोई अवसर न दें.
I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 कुछ हैं, जो पहले ही मुड़कर शैतान की शिष्य बन चुकी हैं.
For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 यदि किसी विश्वासी परिवार में आश्रित विधवाएं हैं तो वही उसकी सहायता करे कि उसका बोझ कलीसिया पर न पड़े, कि कलीसिया ऐसों की सहायता कर सके, जो वास्तव में असमर्थ हैं.
If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 जो कलीसिया के प्राचीन अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी का कुशलतापूर्वक निर्वाह करते हैं, वे दुगने सम्मान के अधिकारी हैं विशेषकर वे, जो वचन सुनाने में तथा शिक्षा देने के काम में परिश्रम करते हैं.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 पवित्र शास्त्र का लेख है, “दांवनी करते बैल के मुख को मुखबन्धनी न बांधना,” तथा “मज़दूर अपने मज़दूरी का हकदार है.”
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.
19 किसी भी कलीसिया-प्राचीन के विरुद्ध दो या तीन गवाहों के बिना कोई भी आरोप स्वीकार न करो.
Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 वे, जो पाप में लीन हैं, सबके सामने उनकी उल्लाहना करो, जिससे कि अन्य लोगों में भय रहे.
Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 मैं परमेश्वर, मसीह येशु तथा चुने हुए स्वर्गदूतों के सामने तुम्हें यह ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपता हूं कि बिना किसी पक्षपात के इन आदेशों का पालन करो. पक्षपात के भाव में कुछ भी न किया जाए.
I charge [thee] before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 किसी को दीक्षा देने में उतावली न करो. अन्यों के पाप में सहभागी न हो जाओ. स्वयं को पवित्र बनाए रखो.
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
23 अब से सिर्फ जल ही तुम्हारा पेय न रहे परंतु अपने उदर तथा बार-बार हो रहे रोगों के कारण थोड़ी मात्रा में दाखरस का सेवन भी करते रहना.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
24 कुछ व्यक्तियों के पाप प्रकट हैं और उनके पाप पहले ही न्याय-प्रक्रिया तक पहुंच जाते हैं, पर शेष के उनके पीछे-पीछे आते हैं.
Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some [men] they follow after.
25 इसी प्रकार अच्छे काम भी प्रकट हैं और जो नहीं हैं, वे छिपाए नहीं जा सकते.
Likewise also the good works [of some] are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise can not be hid.
