1 तीमुथियुस 3
1 यह बात विश्वासयोग्य है: यदि किसी व्यक्ति में अध्यक्ष पद की इच्छा है, यह एक उत्तम काम की अभिलाषा है.
This is a true saying, If any man desire the office of a Bishop, he desireth a worthie worke.
2 इसलिये आवश्यक है कि अध्यक्ष प्रशंसनीय, एक पत्नी का पति, संयमी, विवेकी, सम्मान योग्य, अतिथि-सत्कार करनेवाला तथा निपुण शिक्षक हो,
A Bishop therefore must be vnreproueable, the husband of one wife, watching, temperate, modest, harberous, apt to teache,
3 वह पीनेवाला, झगड़ालू, अधीर, विवादी तथा पैसे का लालची न हो.
Not giuen to wine, no striker, not giuen to filthy lucre, but gentle, no fighter, not couetous,
4 वह अपने परिवार का उत्तम प्रबंधक हो. संतान पर उसका गरिमा से भरा अनुशासन हो.
One that can rule his owne house honestly, hauing children vnder obedience with all honestie.
5 (यदि कोई व्यक्ति अपने परिवार का ही प्रबंध करना नहीं जानता तो भला वह परमेश्वर की कलीसिया की देखरेख किस प्रकार कर पाएगा?)
For if any cannot rule his owne house, how shall he care for the Church of God?
6 वह नया शिष्य न हो कि वह अहंकारवश शैतान के समान दंड का भागी न हो जाए.
He may not be a yong scholer, lest he being puffed vp fall into the condemnation of the deuill.
7 यह भी आवश्यक है कि कलीसिया के बाहर भी वह सम्मान योग्य हो कि वह बदनामी तथा शैतान के जाल में न पड़ जाए.
He must also be well reported of, euen of them which are without, lest he fall into rebuke, and the snare of the deuill.
8 इसी प्रकार आवश्यक है कि दीकन भी गंभीर तथा निष्कपट हों. मदिरा पान में उसकी रुचि नहीं होनी चाहिए, न नीच कमाई के लालची.
Likewise must Deacons be graue, not double tongued, not giuen vnto much wine, neither to filthy lucre,
9 वे निर्मल मन में विश्वास का भेद सुरक्षित रखें.
Hauing the mysterie of the faith in pure conscience.
10 परखे जाने के बाद प्रशंसनीय पाए जाने पर ही उन्हें दीकन पद पर चुना जाए.
And let them first be proued: then let them minister, if they be found blameles.
11 इसी प्रकार, उनकी पत्नी भी गंभीर हों, न कि गलत बातें करने में लीन रहनेवाली—वे हर एक क्षेत्र में व्यवस्थित तथा विश्वासयोग्य हों.
Likewise their wiues must be honest, not euill speakers, but sober, and faithfull in all things.
12 दीकन एक पत्नी का पति हो तथा अपनी संतान और परिवार के अच्छे प्रबंध करनेवाले हों.
Let the Deacons be the husbands of one wife, and such as can rule their children well, and their owne housholdes.
13 जिन्होंने दीकन के रूप में अच्छी सेवा की है, उन्होंने अपने लिए अच्छा स्थान बना लिया है तथा मसीह येशु में अपने विश्वास के विषय में उन्हें दृढ़ निश्चय है.
For they that haue ministred well, get them selues a good degree, and great libertie in the faith, which is in Christ Iesus.
14 तुम्हारे पास शीघ्र आने की आशा करते हुए भी मैं तुम्हें यह सब लिख रहा हूं,
These things write I vnto thee, trusting to come very shortly vnto thee.
15 कि यदि मेरे आने में देरी हो ही जाए तो भी तुम्हें इसका अहसास हो कि परमेश्वर के परिवार में, जो जीवित परमेश्वर की कलीसिया तथा सच्चाई का स्तंभ व नींव है, किस प्रकार का स्वभाव करना चाहिए.
But if I tary long, that thou maist yet know, how thou oughtest to behaue thy self in ye house of God, which is the Church of the liuing God, the pillar and ground of trueth.
16 संदेह नहीं है कि परमेश्वर की भक्ति का भेद गंभीर है: वह, जो मनुष्य के शरीर में प्रकट किए गए, पवित्र आत्मा में उनकी परख हुई, वह स्वर्गदूतों द्वारा पहचाने गए, राष्ट्रों में उनका प्रचार किया गया, संसार में रहते हुए उनमें विश्वास किया गया तथा वह महिमा में ऊपर उठा लिए गए.
And without controuersie, great is the mysterie of godlinesse, which is, God is manifested in the flesh, iustified in the Spirit, seene of Angels, preached vnto the Gentiles, beleeued on in the world, and receiued vp in glorie.
