1 शमूएल 28
1 यह घटना उस समय की है, जब फिलिस्तीनियों ने इस्राएल से युद्ध के उद्देश्य से अपनी सेना सुनियोजित की. राजा आकीश ने दावीद से कहा, “आशा है तुम यह समझ रहे हो कि तुम और तुम्हारे साथी भी हमारी सेना में शामिल हैं.”
Forsothe it was doon in tho daies, Filisteis gaderiden her cumpenyes, that thei schulden be maad redi ayens Israel to batel. And Achis seide to Dauid, Thou witynge `wite now, for thou schalt go out with me in castels, thou and thi men.
2 दावीद ने उसे उत्तर दिया, “अति उत्तम! आप भी देख लेना आपका सेवक आपके लिए क्या-क्या कर सकता है.” “वाह!” आकीश ने दावीद से कहा, “मैं आजीवन तुम्हें अपना अंगरक्षक बनाए रहूंगा.”
And Dauid seide to Achis, Now thou schalt wyte what thingis thi seruaunt schal do. And Achis seide to Dauid, And Y schal sette thee kepere of myn heed in alle dayes.
3 इस समय शमुएल की मृत्यु हो चुकी थी. सारे इस्राएल ने उनके लिए विलाप किया तथा उन्हीं के गृहनगर रामाह में उनको दफना दिया. इस समय तक शाऊल ने संपूर्ण देश में से सारे मोहनियों तथा तांत्रिकों को बाहर निकाल दिया था.

4 फिलिस्तीनी सैनिक एकत्र हुए, और शूनेम नामक स्थान पर उन्होंने अपना पड़ाव खड़ा किया. शाऊल ने भी इस्राएली सेना संगठित की, और उन्होंने अपना पड़ाव गिलबोआ में खड़ा किया.
And Filisteis weren gaderid, and camen, and settiden tentis in Sunam; sotheli and Saul gaderide al Israel, and cam in to Gelboe.
5 जब शाऊल ने फिलिस्तीनियों की सेना की ओर दृष्टि की, तो वह भयभीत हो गए और उनका हृदय बहुत ही विचलित हो गया.
And Saul siy the castels of Filisteis, and he dredde, and his herte dredde greetli.
6 जब उन्होंने याहवेह से जानकारी चाही, याहवेह ने उन्हें कोई उत्तर ही न दिया; न तो स्वप्नों के माध्यम से, न उरीम के माध्यम से और न ही भविष्यवक्ताओं के माध्यम से.
And he counselide the Lord; and the Lord answeride not to hym, nether bi preestis, nether bi dremes, nether bi profetis.
7 हारकर शाऊल ने अपने सेवकों को आदेश दिया, “मेरे लिए एक ऐसी स्त्री की खोज करो, जो डायन हो, कि मैं उससे पूछताछ कर सकूं.” उनके सेवक यह सूचना लाए. “सुनिए, एक डायन है, एन-दोर में.”
And Saul seide to hise seruauntis, Seke ye to me a womman hauynge a feend spekynge in the wombe; and Y schal go to hir, and Y schal axe bi hir. And hise seruauntis seiden to hym, A womman hauynge a feend spekynge in the wombe is in Endor.
8 तब शाऊल ने भेष बदला और अपने वस्त्र परिवर्तित कर लिए तथा अपने साथ दो व्यक्तियों को लेकर चल पड़े. वे उस स्त्री के पास रात में पहुंचे. शाऊल ने उस स्त्री को आदेश दिया, “मेरे लिए आत्मा को बुलाकर पूछताछ कीजिए.” मेरे लिए उन्हें बुला दीजिए, जिसका मैं नाम लूंगा.
Therfor Saul chaungide his clothing, and he was clothid with othere clothis; and he yede, and twei men with hym; and thei camen to the womman in the nyyt. And he seyde, Dyuyne thou to me in a fend spekynge in the wombe, and reise thou to me whom Y schal seie to thee.
9 मगर उस स्त्री ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “आपको यह ज्ञात तो अवश्य ही होगा कि शाऊल ने क्या किया है. कैसे उन्होंने सारे देश के तांत्रिकों तथा जादू-टोन्हों का वध करवा दिया है. आप क्यों मेरे वध के लिए जाल बिछा रहे हैं?”
And the womman seide to hym, Lo! thou woost hou grete thingis Saul hath do, and hou he dide awei fro the lond witchis, and fals dyuynours; whi therfor settist thou tresoun to my lijf, that Y be slayn?
10 इस पर शाऊल ने याहवेह की शपथ लेते हुए उसे आश्वासन दिया, “जीवन्त याहवेह की शपथ, तुम्हारा इसके कारण कोई भी बुरा न होगा.”
And Saul swoor to hir in the Lord, and seide, The Lord lyueth; for no thing of yuel schal come to thee for this thing.
11 “अच्छा बताइए, आपके लिए मैं किसे बुलाऊंगा?” उसने पूछा उसने उत्तर दिया, “ऐसा करो, मेरे लिए तुम शमुएल को बुला लाओ.”
And the womman seide to hym, Whom schal Y reise to thee? And he seide, Reise thou Samuel to me.
12 जब शमुएल आए, उन्हें देख वह स्त्री बहुत ही उच्च स्वर में चिल्ला उठी. वह शाऊल से कहने लगी, “आपने मेरे साथ छल क्यों किया है? आप शाऊल हैं!”
Sotheli whanne the womman hadde seyn Samuel, sche criede with greet vois, and seide to Saul, Whi hast thou disseyued me? for thou art Saul.
13 “डरो मत!” राजा ने उसे आश्वासन दिया और पूछा, “तुम क्या देखती हो?” “मुझे भूमि में से एक दिव्य आकृति ऊपर आती हुई दिखाई दे रही है.”
And the kyng seide to hir, Nyl thou drede; what hast thou seyn? And the womman seide to Saul, Y siy goddis stiynge fro erthe.
14 शाऊल ने उससे पूछा, “उसका स्वरूप कैसा दिखाई दे रहा है?” स्त्री ने उत्तर दिया, “एक वृद्ध व्यक्ति ऊपर आ रहे हैं. वह बागा ओढ़े हुए हैं.” इससे शाऊल को यह अहसास हुआ कि वह शमुएल हैं. वह भूमि की ओर नतमस्तक हुए और सामने घुटने टेक दिए.
And Saul seide to hir, What maner forme is of hym? And sche seide, An eld man stieth, and he is clothid with a mentil. And Saul vndirstood that it was Samuel; and Saul bowide hym silf on his face to the erthe, and worschipide.
15 शमुएल ने शाऊल से पूछा, “मुझे बुलाकर तुमने मेरा विश्राम भंग क्यों किया?” शाऊल ने उत्तर दिया, “मैं घोर संकट में आ पड़ा हूं. फिलिस्तीनी हमारे विरुद्ध युद्ध के लिए उठ खड़े हुए हैं. परमेश्वर मुझसे विमुख हो गए हैं. उनसे मुझे कोई भी उत्तर प्राप्त नहीं हो रहा: न तो भविष्यवक्ताओं के माध्यम से, न स्वप्नों के माध्यम से. इसलिये मुझे आपको कष्ट देना पड़ा है. कृपया मुझे बताइए मैं क्या करूं.”
Sotheli Samuel seide to Saul, Whi hast thou disesid me, that Y schulde be reisid? And Saul seide, Y am constreyned greetli; for Filisteis fiyten ayens me, and God yede awei fro me, and he nolde here me, nether bi the hond of profetis, nether bi dremes; therfor Y clepide thee, that thou schuldist schewe to me what Y schal do.
16 “जब याहवेह ही तुमसे विमुख हो चुके हैं, तुम्हारे शत्रु बन चुके हैं, तो क्या लाभ है मुझसे पूछने का?” शमुएल ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया.
And Samuel seide, What axist thou me, whanne God hath go awei fro thee, and passide to thin enemy?
17 “याहवेह ने वही किया है, जो मेरे द्वारा पूर्वघोषित कर चुके थे. याहवेह ने साम्राज्य तुम्हारे हाथ से छीनकर तुम्हारे पड़ोसी, दावीद को दे दिया है,
For the Lord schal do to thee as he spak in myn hond, and he schal kitte awey thi rewme fro thin hond, and he schal yyue it to Dauid, thi neiybore;
18 क्योंकि तुमने याहवेह के आदेश का पालन नहीं किया और अमालेकियों के प्रति उनके प्रचंड प्रकोप का निष्पादन नहीं किया; तुम्हें आज याहवेह की ओर से यह प्रतिफल प्राप्त हुआ है.
for thou obeiedist not to the vois of the Lord, nether didist the `ire of hys strong veniaunce in Amalech. Therfor the Lord hath do to thee to day that that thou suffrist;
19 याहवेह तुम्हें तथा इस्राएल को फिलिस्तीनियों के अधीन कर देंगे. कल तुम और तुम्हारे पुत्र मेरे साथ होंगे. याहवेह इस्राएल की सेना को भी फिलिस्तीनियों के अधीन कर देंगे.”
and the Lord schal yyue also Israel with thee in the hond of Filisteis. Forsothe to morewe thou and thi sones schulen be with me; but also the Lord schal bitake the castels of Israel in the hond of Filistiym.
20 यह सुनते ही शाऊल वैसे के वैसे भूमि पर गिर पड़े, कटे वृक्ष समान. शमुएल के शब्दों ने उन्हें बहुत ही भयभीत कर दिया था. उनका शरीर पूर्णतः शिथिल हो गया था. उन्होंने सारा दिन और रात में भोजन ही नहीं किया था.
And anoon Saul felde stretchid forth to erthe; for he dredde the wordis of Samuel, and strengthe was not in hym, for he hadde not ete breed in al that dai and al nyyt.
21 वह स्त्री शाऊल के निकट आई, और उसने पाया कि शाऊल बहुत ही भयभीत थे, उसने शाऊल से कहा, “सुनिए, आपकी सेविका ने आपकी आज्ञा का पालन किया है और यह मैंने अपने प्राणों पर खेलकर किया है. आपने मुझे जो आदेश दिया, मैंने वही किया है.
Therfor thilke womman entride to Saul, and seide; for he was disturblid greetli; and sche seide to hym, Lo! thin handmayde obeiede to thi vois, and Y haue put my lijf in myn hond, and Y herde thi wordis, whiche thou spakist to me.
22 तब आप भी अब मेरी सुन लीजिए. मैं आपके लिए भोजन तैयार करती हूं ताकि आप कुछ खा लें. इससे आपको बल प्राप्त होगा कि आप लौटकर जा सकें.”
Now therfor and thou here the vois of thin handmaide, and Y schal sette a mussel of breed bifor thee, and that thou etynge wexe strong, and maist do the iourney.
23 मगर शाऊल अस्वीकार करते रहे, “नहीं मुझे कुछ नहीं खाना है.” मगर शाऊल के सेवक तथा वह स्त्री उनसे आग्रह करते रहे. अंततः उन्होंने उनका आग्रह स्वीकार कर लिया. वह भूमि से उठकर बिछौने पर बैठ गए.
And he forsook, and seide, Y schal not ete. Sothely hise seruauntis and the womman compelliden hym; and at the laste, whanne the vois of hem was herd, he roos fro the erthe, and sat on the bed.
24 उस स्त्री का एक पुष्ट बछड़ा था, उसका उसने तुरंत वध किया, आटा लेकर खमीर रहित रोटियां बनाई.
Sotheli thilke womman hadde a fat calf in the hows, and `sche hastide, and killide hym; and sche took mele, and meddlide it, and made therf breed;
25 यह सब उसने शाऊल और उसके सेवकों को परोसा. उन्होंने भोजन किया और रात में ही वहां से विदा हो गए.
and settide bifor Saul and bifor hise seruauntis, and whanne thei hadden ete, thei risiden, and walkiden bi al that nyyt.
