1 शमूएल 16
1 याहवेह ने शमुएल से कहा, “बहुत हुआ! शाऊल के लिए और कितना रोते रहोगे? मैं उसे इस्राएल के राजा के रूप में अयोग्य ठहरा चुका हूं. अपनी तेल के सींग में तेल भरकर निकलो. मैं तुम्हें बेथलेहेम के यिशै के यहां भेज रहा हूं, उसके पुत्रों में से एक को मैं अपने लिए राजा चुन चुका हूं.”
The Lord asked Samuel, “How long are you going to continue to mourn over Saul because I have rejected him as king of Israel? Fill your flask with olive oil and go. I'm sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have chosen a king for myself from among his sons.”
2 शमुएल ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “यह कैसे संभव है? शाऊल इसके विषय में सुनेगा तो मेरी हत्या कर देगा.” तब याहवेह ने आदेश दिया, “एक बछड़ा अपने साथ ले जाओ, और यह घोषणा करना, मैं याहवेह के लिए बलि चढ़ाने आया हूं.
“How can I go and do that?” Samuel asked. “Saul will hear about it and kill me!” The Lord answered, “Take a young cow with you and say, ‘I've come to sacrifice to the Lord.’
3 तब इस बलि अर्पण के मौके पर यिशै को आमंत्रित करना. मैं तुम्हें बताऊंगा कि तुम्हें क्या करना होगा. मेरी ओर से तुम्हें उसका अभिषेक करना होगा, जिसे मैं तुम्हारे लिए संकेत करूंगा.”
Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you have to do. Anoint for me the one I tell you to.”
4 शमुएल ने याहवेह के आदेश के अनुसार किया. जब वह बेथलेहेम पहुंचे, उनसे भेंटकरने आए नगर के पुरनिये भयभीत हो कांप रहे थे. उन्होंने उनसे पूछा, “क्या सब कुछ सकुशल है?”
Samuel did what the Lord had told him to and went to Bethlehem. When the town elders met him, they were afraid and asked him, “Do you come in peace?”
5 शमुएल ने उत्तर दिया, “हां, सब कुशल है. मैं यहां याहवेह के लिए बलि अर्पित करने आया हूं. स्वयं को शुद्ध करके बलि अर्पण के लिए मेरे साथ चलो.” तब उन्होंने यिशै और उनके पुत्रों को शुद्ध करके उन्हें बलि अर्पण के लिए आमंत्रित किया.
“Yes, I come in peace,” he replied. “I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Purify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” He purified Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 जब वे सब एकत्र हुए, शमुएल का ध्यान एलियाब की ओर गया ओर उन्होंने अपने मन में विचार किया, “निःसंदेह, यहां याहवेह के सामने उनका अभिषिक्त खड़ा हुआ है.”
When they arrived and Samuel saw Eliab, he said to himself, “This has got to be the Lord's anointed!”
7 मगर याहवेह ने शमुएल से कहा, “न तो उसके रूप में और न उसके डीलडौल से प्रभावित हो जाओ, क्योंकि मैंने उसे अयोग्य ठहरा दिया है. क्योंकि याहवेह का आंकलन वैसा नहीं होता, जैसा मनुष्य का होता है: मनुष्य बाहरी रूप को देखकर आंकलन करता है, मगर याहवेह हृदय को देखते हैं.”
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don't look at his outward appearance or how tall he is because I have rejected him, for the Lord does not look as human beings do. Human beings only see with their eyes what's on the outside, but the Lord looks at the way people think deep inside.”
8 इसके बाद यिशै ने अबीनादाब को बुलाया कि वह शमुएल के सामने प्रस्तुत किया जाए, मगर शमुएल ने उन्हें बताया, “याहवेह ने इसे भी नहीं चुना है.”
Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him come before Samuel, who said, “The Lord hasn't chosen this one either.”
9 तब यिशै ने शम्माह को प्रस्तुत किया, मगर शमुएल ने कहा, “याहवेह ने इसे भी नहीं चुना है.”
Then Jesse had Shammah come forward. But Samuel said, “The Lord hasn't chosen this one either.”
10 यिशै ने अपने सातों पुत्र शमुएल के सामने प्रस्तुत किए, मगर शमुएल यिशै से कहा, “याहवेह ने इनमें से किसी को भी नहीं चुना है.”
Jesse had seven of his sons come before Samuel, but Samuel told him, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.”
11 इस पर शमुएल ने यिशै से प्रश्न किया, “क्या तुम्हारे इतने ही पुत्र हैं?” “नहीं, सबसे छोटा भी है, मगर वह भेड़ों को चरा रहा है.” यिशै ने उत्तर दिया. “उसे तुरंत बुलवा लो; उसके यहां आने तक हम आगे का कोई काम न कर सकेंगे.” शमुएल ने कहा.
So he asked Jesse, “Don't you have any more sons?” “Well, there's still the youngest,” Jesse replied, “but he is out looking after the sheep.” “Send for him and bring him here because we will not sit down and eat until he gets here,” Samuel told Jesse.
12 तब यिशै ने उसे बुलवाया. उसकी त्वचा गुलाबी, आंखें सुंदर तथा रूप सुडौल था. याहवेह ने शमुएल को आदेश दिया, “उठो! उसका अभिषेक करो; क्योंकि यही है मेरा चुना हुआ.”
So Jesse sent for him and brought him in. He had a red complexion with beautiful eyes, and looked handsome. The Lord said, “Go and anoint him, for he's the one.”
13 तब शमुएल ने सब भाइयों की उपस्थिति में सींग में लाए गए तेल से दावीद का अभिषेक किया. उस क्षण से दावीद पर याहवेह का आत्मा वेग तथा बल के साथ उतरने लगे. इसके बाद शमुएल रामाह नगर लौटे.
Samuel took the flask of olive oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the Lord came on David in power from that day on. Then Samuel left and returned to Ramah.
14 अब तक याहवेह का आत्मा शाऊल से दूर हो चुके थे, तथा अब याहवेह की ओर से ठहराया हुआ एक दुष्ट आत्मा उन्हें घबराने लगी.
The Spirit of the Lord had left Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.
15 शाऊल के सेवकों ने उन्हें सूचित किया, “आपके इस कष्ट का कारण है, परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त एक बुरी आत्मा.
Saul's servants told him, “It's definitely an evil spirit from God that's tormenting you.
16 हमारे स्वामी अपने इन सेवकों को आदेश दें कि किसी अच्छे वाद्यवादक की खोज की जाए, कि जब-जब परमेश्वर द्वारा नियुक्त दुष्ट आत्मा आप पर आए, वह अपने वाद्य वादन द्वारा आप में सुख-शांति भर दे.”
Give us your servants here the order to find someone who is good at playing the harp so that when the evil spirit from God comes on you, he can play and you'll feel much better.”
17 तब शाऊल ने उन्हें आदेश दिया, “जाओ! किसी अच्छे वाद्यवादक की खोज करो और उसे मेरे पास ले आओ.”
Saul gave the order to his servants, “Find me someone who is good at playing the harp and bring him to me.”
18 उनमें से एक सेवक ने उन्हें सूचित किया, “मैंने बेथलेहेम के यिशै के एक पुत्र को देखा है. वह तन्तु वाद्यवादक है. उसके अलावा वह एक शूर योद्धा है, बातें करने में बुद्धिमान है, रूपवान है तथा याहवेह उसके साथ हैं.”
One of the servants replied, “I know a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who is good at playing the harp. He is a brave man, a good fighter, well-spoken and handsome, and the Lord is with him.”
19 तब शाऊल ने यिशै के पास इस संदेश के साथ दूत भेज दिए, “अपने पुत्र दावीद को, जो इस समय भेड़ों की रखवाली कर रहा है, मेरे पास भेज दो.”
Saul sent messengers to Jesse, telling him, “Send me your son David who takes care of the sheep.”
20 इस पर यिशै ने अपने पुत्र दावीद के साथ एक गधे पर रोटियां, द्राक्षारस की छागल तथा एक छोटा मेमना शाऊल के लिए भेज दिया.
So Jesse loaded a donkey with bread, a skin of wine, and a young goat and sent them with his son David to Saul.
21 शाऊल की उपस्थिति में पहुंचकर दावीद शाऊल की सेवा करने लगे. दावीद शाऊल के बहुत ही प्रिय पात्र थे, तब शाऊल ने उन्हें अपना शस्त्रवाहक बना लिया.
David came to Saul and began working for him. Saul thought a great deal of him, and David became his armor-bearer.
22 शाऊल ने यिशै को यह संदेश भेज दिया, “दावीद को मेरी सेवा में रहने दीजिए क्योंकि मैं उससे बहुत प्रसन्न हूं.”
Saul sent a message to Jesse, saying, “Please allow David to continue working for me because I am pleased with him.”
23 जब कभी परमेश्वर द्वारा भेजी दुष्ट आत्मा शाऊल पर प्रभावी होती थी, दावीद अपना वाद्य यंत्र लेकर वादन करने लगते थे. इससे उन्हें शांति प्राप्त हो जाती थी; यह उनके लिए सुखद होता था, तथा बुरी आत्मा उन्हें छोड़कर चली जाती थी.
So whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take his harp and play, and Saul would gain relief and feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
