1 पतरस 2
1 इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैरभाव, सारे छल, कपट, डाह तथा सारी निंदा को दूर करते हुए
Wherefore, laying aside all malice, and all guile and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speaking;
2 वचन के निर्मल दूध के लिए तुम्हारी लालसा नवजात शिशुओं के समान हो कि तुम उसके द्वारा उद्धार के पूर्ण अनुभव में बढ़ते जाओगे.
as newborn babes, earnestly desire the unadulterated milk of the word, that you may grow by it.
3 अब तुमने यह चखकर जान लिया है कि प्रभु कृपानिधान हैं.
Because, indeed, you have tasted that the Lord is good;
4 अब तुम उनके पास आए हो, जो जीवित पत्थर हैं, जो मनुष्यों द्वारा त्यागा हुआ किंतु परमेश्वर के लिए बहुमूल्य और प्रतिष्ठित हैं.
to whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious;
5 तुम भी जीवित पत्थरों के समान पवित्र पौरोहित्य के लिए एक आत्मिक भवन बनते जा रहे हो कि मसीह येशु के द्वारा परमेश्वर को भानेवाली आत्मिक बलि भेंट करो.
you, also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual temple, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices, most acceptable to God, through Jesus Christ.
6 पवित्र शास्त्र का लेख है: “देखो, मैं ज़ियोन में एक उत्तम पत्थर, एक बहुमूल्य कोने के पत्थर की स्थापना कर रहा हूं, वह, जो उनमें विश्वास करता है कभी भी लज्जित न होगा.”
Wherefore, it is contained in the scripture, "Behold I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: whoever trusts in it, shall not be ashamed."
7 इसलिये तुम्हारे लिए, जो विश्वासी हो, वह बहुमूल्य हैं. किंतु अविश्वासियों के लिए, “वही पत्थर, जो राजमिस्त्रियों द्वारा नकार दिया गया था,” कोने का सिरा बन गया.
To you, then, who trust, it is precious; but to unbelieving-- a stone which the builders rejected, which has become the head of the corner--
8 तथा, “वह पत्थर जिससे ठोकर लगती है, वह चट्टान, जो उनके पतन का कारण है.” वे लड़खड़ाते इसलिये हैं कि वे वचन को नहीं मानते हैं और यही दंड उनके लिये परमेश्वर द्वारा ठहराया गया है.
a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense. Those who stumble at the word, are disobedient unbelievers, to which, therefore, they were appointed:
9 किंतु तुम एक चुने हुए वंश, राजकीय पुरोहित, पवित्र राष्ट्र तथा परमेश्वर की अपनी प्रजा हो कि तुम उनकी सर्वश्रेष्ठता की घोषणा कर सको, जिन्होंने अंधकार में से तुम्हारा बुलावा अपनी अद्भुत ज्योति में किया है.
but you are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people; that you should declare the perfections of him who has called you from darkness into his marvelous light:
10 एक समय था जब तुम प्रजा ही न थे, किंतु अब परमेश्वर की प्रजा हो; तुम कृपा से वंचित थे परंतु अब तुम उनके कृपापात्र हो गए हो.
who formerly were not a people, but now are a people of God; who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11 प्रिय भाई बहनो, मैं तुम्हारे परदेशी और यात्री होने के कारण तुमसे विनती करता हूं कि तुम शारीरिक अभिलाषाओं से बचे रहो, जो आत्मा के विरुद्ध युद्ध करते हैं.
Beloved, I beseech you, as sojourners and travelers, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.
12 अन्यजातियों में अपना चालचलन भला रखो, जिससे कि जिस विषय में वे तुम्हें कुकर्मी मानते हुए तुम्हारी निंदा करते हैं, तुम्हारे भले कामों को देखकर उस आगमन दिवस पर परमेश्वर की वंदना करें.
Have your behavior comely, among the Gentiles, that, whereas, they speak against you, as evil doers, having beheld your good works, they may glorify God, in the day of visitation.
13 मनुष्य द्वारा चुने हुए हर एक शासक के प्रभु के लिए अधीन रहो: चाहे राजा के, जो सर्वोच्च अधिकारी है
Be subject, therefore, to every human establishment for the Lord's sake; whether to the king, as supreme;
14 या राज्यपालों के, जो कुकर्मियों को दंड देने परंतु सुकर्मियों की सराहना के लिए चुने गए हैं,
or to governor, as those sent by him for the punishment, indeed, of evil doers; but for the praise of them who do good.
15 क्योंकि परमेश्वर की इच्छा यही है कि तुम अपने सच्चे चरित्र के द्वारा उन मूर्खों का मुख बंद करो, जो बेबुनियादी बातें करते रहते हैं.
For so is the will of God, that, by doing good, you put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
16 तुम्हारा स्वभाव स्वतंत्र व्यक्तियों के समान तो हो किंतु तुम अपनी स्वतंत्रता का प्रयोग बुराई पर पर्दा डालने के लिए नहीं परंतु परमेश्वर के सेवकों के रूप में ही करो.
Live as freemen, yet do not use your freedom as a covering of wickedness; but as the servants of God.
17 सभी का सम्मान करो, साथी विश्वासियों के समुदाय से प्रेम करो; परमेश्वर के प्रति श्रद्धा भाव रखो और राजा का सम्मान करो.
Treat all men with respect: love the brotherhood: fear God: honor the king.
18 सेवको, पूरे आदर भाव में अपने स्वामियों के अधीन रहो; भले और हितैषी स्वामियों के ही नहीं परंतु बुरे स्वामियों के भी.
Let household servants be subject to their masters, with all reverence; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19 यदि कोई परमेश्वर के प्रति विवेकशीलता के कारण क्लेश भोगता है और अन्यायपूर्ण रीति से सताया जाता है, वह प्रशंसनीय है.
For this is acceptable, if any one, from conscience of God, sustain sorrows, suffering unjustly.
20 भला इसमें प्रशंसनीय क्या है कि तुमने अपराध किया, उसके लिए सताए गए और उसे धीरज के साथ सहते रहे? परंतु यदि तुमने वह किया, जो उचित है और उसके लिए धीरज के साथ दुःख सहे तो तुम परमेश्वर के कृपापात्र हो.
But what praise is due, if, when you commit faults and are buffeted, you bear it patiently? Yet if, when you do well, and suffer, you bear it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 इसी के लिए तुम बुलाए गए हो क्योंकि मसीह ने भी तुम्हारे लिए दुःख सहे और एक आदर्श छोड़ गए कि तुम उनके पद-चिह्नों पर चलो.
Besides, to this you were called; for even Christ suffered for us, leaving us a pattern, that you should follow his footsteps;
22 “न उन्होंने कोई पाप किया और न उनके मुख से छल का कोई शब्द निकला”
who did not sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
23 जब उनकी उल्लाहना की जा रही थी, उन्होंने इसके उत्तर में उल्लाहना नहीं की; दुःख सहते हुए भी, उन्होंने धमकी नहीं दी; परंतु स्वयं को परमेश्वर के हाथों में सौंप दिया, जो धार्मिकता से न्याय करते हैं.
who, when he was reviled, did not revile in return; when he suffered he did not threaten, but committed his cause to him who judges righteously--
24 “मसीह ने काठ पर स्वयं” अपने शरीर में हमारे पाप उठा लिए कि हम पाप के लिए मरकर तथा धार्मिकता के लिए जीवित हो जाएं. “उनके घावों के द्वारा तुम्हारी चंगाई हुई है.
who himself bore away our sins in his own body, on the tree; that we, being freed from sins, should live to righteousness; by whose stripes you are healed.
25 तुम लगातार भेड़ों के समान भटक रहे थे,” किंतु अब अपने चरवाहे व अपनी आत्मा के रखवाले के पास लौट आए हो.
For you were as sheep going astray, but are now returned to the Shepherd, and Overseer of your souls.
