חזוֹן יוֹחָנָן 6
| וארא כאשר פתח השה אחד מן שבעה החתמות ואשמע אחת מארבע החיות מדברת כקול רעם לאמר בא וראה׃ | 1 |
And I saw, when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures, which said, as with a voice of thunder, Come and see.
| ואביט והנה סוס לבן והרכב עליו קשת בידו ותנתן לו עטרה ויצא מנצח ולמען ינצח׃ | 2 |
And I saw, and behold, a white horse; and he who sat upon it, had a bow, and there was given him a crown; and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
| וכפתחו את החותם השני ואשמע את החיה השנית אמרת בא וראה׃ | 3 |
And when he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature, saying, Come--
| ויצא סוס שני והוא אדם ולרכב עליו נתן לשאת את השלום מן הארץ למען יהרגו איש את אחיו ותנתן לו חרב גדולה׃ | 4 |
And another horse came out, which was red; and it was given to him who sat upon it, to take peace from the earth, and that they should slay each other; and there was given to him a great sword.
| וכפתחו את החותם השלישי ואשמע את החיה השלישית אמרת בא וראה ואביט והנה סוס שחר והרכב עליו מאזנים בידו׃ | 5 |
And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature, saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat upon it, has a pair of scales in his hand.
| ואשמע קול מתוך ארבע החיות לאמר קב חטים בדינר ושלשה קבים שערים בדינר ואת השמן והיין אל תשחת׃ | 6 |
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, A chenix of wheat for a denarius, and three chenices of barley for a denarius; you see that you injure not the oil, nor the wine.
| וכפתחו את החותם הרביעי ואשמע את החיה הרביעית אמרת בא וראה׃ | 7 |
And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature, saying, Come and see.
| וארא והנה סוס ירקרק והרכב עליו שמו המות ושאול יוצאת לרגליו וינתן להם שלטן על רביעית הארץ להמית בחרב וברעב ובדבר ובחית הארץ׃ (Hadēs g86) | 8 |
And I saw, and behold, a pale horse; and as for him who sat on it, his name was Death; and Hades followed him: and there was given to him power to slay the fourth part of the earth with the sword, and with famine, and with death, and with the wild beasts of the field. (Hadēs g86)
| וכפתחו החותם החמישי וארא מתחת למזבח את נפשות הטבוחים על דבר האלהים ועל העדות אשר היתה להם׃ | 9 |
And when he opened the fifth sea, I saw, under the altar, the souls of those who were slaughtered on account of the word of God, and the testimony which they held.
| ויזעקו בקול גדול ויאמרו עד מתי אדני הקדוש והאמתי לא תשפט ולא תקום את דמינו מישבי הארץ׃ | 10 |
And they cried with a loud voice, and said, How long, O sovereign Lord, holy and true, before thou dost judge, and avenge our blood upon those who dwell on the earth?
| ויתן לאיש איש מהם שמלות לבנות ויאמר אליהם לנוח עוד זמן מעט עד מלאת מספר העבדים חברים ואחיהם העתידים להרג כמוהם׃ | 11 |
And there were given to each of them white robes; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet a while, till the number of their fellow-servants and brethren who should be killed, as they had been, should be completed.
| וארא בפתחו את החותם הששי והנה רעש גדול היה ויקדר השמש כשק שער והירח נהפך לדם׃ | 12 |
And I saw, when he opened the sixth seal, and there was an earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair; and the moon became as blood;
| וכוכבי השמים נפלו ארצה כאשר תנוע תאנה ברוח חזקה והשליכה פגיה׃ | 13 |
and the stars fell from heaven, on the earth, as fig tree drops its untimely figs, being shaken by a mighty wind:
| והשמים משו כספר נגלל וכל הר ואי הנתקו ממקומם׃ | 14 |
and the heavens passed away like a scroll, when it is rolled up; and every mountain, and island, was moved out of its place:
| ומלכי הארץ והרזנים ושרי האלפים והעשירים והתקיפים וכל עבד וכל בן חרים התחבאו במערות ובסלעי ההרים׃ | 15 |
and the kings of the earth, and the grandees, and the rich men, and the chief officers, and the powerful men, and every slave, and every freeman, hid themselves in the caves, and rocks of the mountains:
| ויאמרו אל ההרים ואל הסלעים נפלו עלינו וכסונו מפני הישב על הכסא ומפני חמת השה׃ | 16 |
and they said to the mountains, and the rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb!
| כי בא יום עברתו הגדול ומי יוכל להתיצב׃ | 17 |
for the great day of his wrath is come, and who shall be able to stand?
