| וידבר יהוה אל משה במדבר סיני באהל מועד באחד לחדש השני בשנה השנית לצאתם מארץ מצרים לאמר׃ | 1 |
Then spake Yahweh unto Moses in the desert of Sinai in the tent of meeting, —on the first of the second month in the second year by their coming forth out of the land of Egypt saying:
| שאו את ראש כל עדת בני ישראל למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות כל זכר לגלגלתם׃ | 2 |
Reckon ye up the sum of all the assembly of the sons of Israel, by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, every male, by their polls;
| מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא בישראל תפקדו אתם לצבאתם אתה ואהרן׃ | 3 |
from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war in Israel, —ye shall number them by their hosts, thou and Aaron;
| ואתכם יהיו איש איש למטה איש ראש לבית אבתיו הוא׃ | 4 |
and with you, shall be one man for each tribe, —each man, head of his ancestral house, shall be.
| ואלה שמות האנשים אשר יעמדו אתכם לראובן אליצור בן שדיאור׃ | 5 |
These, then, are the names of the men who shall stand with you, —Of Reuben, Elizur, son of Shedeur;
| לשמעון שלמיאל בן צורישדי׃ | 6 |
Of Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
| ליהודה נחשון בן עמינדב׃ | 7 |
Of Judah, Nahshon, son of Amminadab;
| ליששכר נתנאל בן צוער׃ | 8 |
Of Issachar, Nethanel, son of Zuar;
| לזבולן אליאב בן חלן׃ | 9 |
Of Zebulun, Eliab, son of Helon;
| לבני יוסף לאפרים אלישמע בן עמיהוד למנשה גמליאל בן פדהצור׃ | 10 |
Of the sons of Joseph, —Of Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; Of Manasseh, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur;
| לבנימן אבידן בן גדעני׃ | 11 |
Of Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
| לדן אחיעזר בן עמישדי׃ | 12 |
Of Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
| לאשר פגעיאל בן עכרן׃ | 13 |
Of Asher, Pagiel, son of Ochran;
| לגד אליסף בן דעואל׃ | 14 |
Of Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
| לנפתלי אחירע בן עינן׃ | 15 |
Of Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.
| אלה קריאי העדה נשיאי מטות אבותם ראשי אלפי ישראל הם׃ | 16 |
These, are they who had been summoned by the assembly, being princes of the tribes of their fathers, —heads of the thousands of Israel.
| ויקח משה ואהרן את האנשים האלה אשר נקבו בשמות׃ | 17 |
So then Moses and Aaron took these men, who were distinguished by name;
| ואת כל העדה הקהילו באחד לחדש השני ויתילדו על משפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה לגלגלתם׃ | 18 |
all the assembly also, called they together on the first of the second month, —and they declared their pedigree according to their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names from twenty years old and upwards by their polls.
| כאשר צוה יהוה את משה ויפקדם במדבר סיני׃ | 19 |
As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he mustered them in the desert of Sinai.
| ויהיו בני ראובן בכר ישראל תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות לגלגלתם כל זכר מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 20 |
And they were [as followeth] —The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, in their pedigrees—by their families, by their ancestral houses, in the counting of names, by their polls, every male, from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה ראובן ששה וארבעים אלף וחמש מאות׃ | 21 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Reuben, forty-six thousand and five hundred.
| לבני שמעון תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם פקדיו במספר שמות לגלגלתם כל זכר מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 22 |
Of the sons of Simeon, in their pedigrees by their families by their ancestral houses, —such as were numbered of him, in the counting of names by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה שמעון תשעה וחמשים אלף ושלש מאות׃ | 23 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Simeon, fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
| לבני גד תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 24 |
Of the sons of Gad, in their pedigrees—by their families by their ancestral houses, in the counting of names from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war:
| פקדיהם למטה גד חמשה וארבעים אלף ושש מאות וחמשים׃ | 25 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Gad, forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty.
| לבני יהודה תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 26 |
Of the sons of Judah, in their pedigrees by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה יהודה ארבעה ושבעים אלף ושש מאות׃ | 27 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Judah, seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
| לבני יששכר תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 28 |
Of the sons of Issachar, in their pedigrees—by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty year old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה יששכר ארבעה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות׃ | 29 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Issachar, fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
| לבני זבולן תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 30 |
Of the sons of Zebulun, in their pedigrees—by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה זבולן שבעה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות׃ | 31 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Zebulun, fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
| לבני יוסף לבני אפרים תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 32 |
Of the sons of Joseph—Of the sons of Ephraim, in their pedigrees—by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty years old, and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה אפרים ארבעים אלף וחמש מאות׃ | 33 |
such as were numbered of them, as belonging to the tribe of Ephraim, forty thousand and five hundred.
| לבני מנשה תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמות מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 34 |
Of the sons of Manasseh, in their pedigrees—by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה מנשה שנים ושלשים אלף ומאתים׃ | 35 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Manasseh, thirty-two thousand, and two hundred.
| לבני בנימן תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 36 |
Of the sons of Benjamin, in their pedigrees by their families, by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty years old, and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה בנימן חמשה ושלשים אלף וארבע מאות׃ | 37 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Benjamin, thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
| לבני דן תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 38 |
Of the sons of Dan, in their pedigrees by their families by their ancestral houses, in the counting of names from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה דן שנים וששים אלף ושבע מאות׃ | 39 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Dan, sixty-two thousand, and seven hundred.
| לבני אשר תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 40 |
Of the sons of Asher, in their pedigrees—by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty years old, and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה אשר אחד וארבעים אלף וחמש מאות׃ | 41 |
such as were numbered of them as belonging to the tribe of Asher, forty-one thousand, and five hundred.
| בני נפתלי תולדתם למשפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שמת מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃ | 42 |
The sons of Naphtali, in their pedigrees by their families by their ancestral houses, —in the counting of names, from twenty years old, and upwards, every one able to go forth to war;
| פקדיהם למטה נפתלי שלשה וחמשים אלף וארבע מאות׃ | 43 |
such as were numbered of them, as belonging to the tribe of Naphtali, fifty-three thousand, and four hundred.
| אלה הפקדים אשר פקד משה ואהרן ונשיאי ישראל שנים עשר איש איש אחד לבית אבתיו היו׃ | 44 |
These, are they who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron and the twelve princes of Israel did number, the princes acting each one for his ancestral house.
| ויהיו כל פקודי בני ישראל לבית אבתם מבן עשרים שנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא בישראל׃ | 45 |
So then all they who were numbered of the sons of Israel by their ancestral houses, from twenty years old and upwards, every one able to go forth to war in Israel;
| ויהיו כל הפקדים שש מאות אלף ושלשת אלפים וחמש מאות וחמשים׃ | 46 |
so then all they who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
| והלוים למטה אבתם לא התפקדו בתוכם׃ | 47 |
But the Levites by the tribe of their fathers were not numbered in their midst.
| וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר׃ | 48 |
For Yahweh spake unto Moses saying:
| אך את מטה לוי לא תפקד ואת ראשם לא תשא בתוך בני ישראל׃ | 49 |
Only the tribe of Levi, shalt thou not number, nor the sum of them, shalt thou reckon up, in the midst of the sons of Israel.
| ואתה הפקד את הלוים על משכן העדת ועל כל כליו ועל כל אשר לו המה ישאו את המשכן ואת כל כליו והם ישרתהו וסביב למשכן יחנו׃ | 50 |
But do, thou thyself, put the Levites in charge over the habitation of the testimony, and over all the furniture thereof and over all that pertaineth thereto, they, shall bear the habitation, and all the furniture thereof, and they, shall attend thereupon; and, round about the habitation, shall they encamp.
| ובנסע המשכן יורידו אתו הלוים ובחנת המשכן יקימו אתו הלוים והזר הקרב יומת׃ | 51 |
And, when the habitation is to set forward, the Levites shall take it down, and when the habitation is to be pitched, the Levites, shall set it up, but the stranger that draweth near, shall be put to death.
| וחנו בני ישראל איש על מחנהו ואיש על דגלו לצבאתם׃ | 52 |
So then the sons of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man, near his own camp, and, every man, near his own standard, by their hosts;
| והלוים יחנו סביב למשכן העדת ולא יהיה קצף על עדת בני ישראל ושמרו הלוים את משמרת משכן העדות׃ | 53 |
but the Levites, shall pitch their tents round about the habitation of the testimony, that there be no wrath upon the assembly of the sons of Israel, —so shall the Levites keep the watch of the habitation of the testimony.
| ויעשו בני ישראל ככל אשר צוה יהוה את משה כן עשו׃ | 54 |
Thus did the sons of Israel, —according to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so, did they.
