| ויהי כאשר עבר יום השבת ותקנינה מרים המגגדלית ומרים אם יעקב ושלמית סמים לבוא ולסוך אתו בהם׃ | 1 |
And when the sabbath had passed, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint him.
| ובאחד בשבת בבקר השכם באו אל הקבר כזרוח השמש׃ | 2 |
And very early, on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they came to the sepulcher.
| ותאמרנה אשה אל אחותה מי יגל לנו את האבן מעל פתח הקבר׃ | 3 |
And they said among themselves: Who will roll away the stone for us from the door of the sepulcher?
| ובהביטן ראו והנה נגללה האבן כי היתה גדלה מאד׃ | 4 |
for it was very great. And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away.
| ותבאנה אל תוך הקבר ותראינה בחור אחד ישב מימין והוא עטה שמלה לבנה ותשתוממנה׃ | 5 |
And they entered the sepulcher, and saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe: and they were frightened.
| ויאמר אליהן אל תשתוממנה את ישוע הנצרי אתן מבקשות את הנצלב הוא קם איננו פה הנה זה המקום אשר השכיבהו בו׃ | 6 |
But he said to them: Be not frightened; you seek Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here: see the place where they laid him.
| אך לכנה ואמרתן אל תלמידיו ואל פטרוס כי הולך הוא לפניכם הגלילה ושם תראהו כאשר אמר לכם׃ | 7 |
But go, tell his disciples, and Peter, that he goes before you into Galilee; there you shall see him, as he told you.
| ותמהרנה לצאת ותברחנה מן הקבר כי אחזתן רעדה ותמהון ולא הגידו דבר לאיש כי יראו׃ | 8 |
And they went out, and fled from the sepulcher; for trembling and astonishment seized upon them. And they said nothing to any one, for they were afraid.

| ותלך ותגד לאנשים אשר היו עמו והם מתאבלים ובכים׃ | 10 |
And she went and told it to those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
| וכאשר שמעו כי חי ונראה אליה לא האמינו לה׃ | 11 |
And though they heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, they did not believe.
| ואחרי כן נראה בדמות אחרת לשנים מהם בהיתם מתהלכים בצאתם השדה׃ | 12 |
After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they walked and went into the country.
| והם הלכו ויגידו לאחרים וגם להם לא האמינו׃ | 13 |
And they went and told it to the rest. But they did not believe them.
| ובאחרנה נראה לעשתי העשר בהיותם מסבים ויחרף חסרון אמונתם וקשי לבבם אשר לא האמינו לראים אתו נעור מן המתים׃ | 14 |
Afterward he appeared to the eleven as they reclined at table; and he reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
| ויאמר אליהם לכו אל כל העולם וקראו את הבשורה לכל הבריאה׃ | 15 |
And he said to them: Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
| המאמין ונטבל הוא יושע ואשר לא יאמין יאשם׃ | 16 |
He that believes and is immersed, shall be saved; he that believes not, shall be condemned.
| ואלה האתות אשר ילוו אל המאמינים יגרשו שדים בשמי ובלשנות חדשות ידברו׃ | 17 |
And these signs shall attend those who believe. In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
| נחשים ישאו בידיהם ואם ישתו סם המות לא יזיקם על חולים ישימו את ידיהם וייטב להם׃ | 18 |
they shall take up serpents; and, if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
| ויהי אחרי אשר דבר אתם האדון וינשא השמימה וישב לימין האלהים׃ | 19 |
The Lord, therefore, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: and he sat down at the right hand of God.
| והמה יצאו ויקראו בכל המקמות והאדון עזרם ויחזק את הדבר באתות הבאות אחרי דברם אמן׃ | 20 |
And they went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.
