הַשֵּׁנִית לְפֶטְרוֹס 1
| שמעון פטרוס עבד ישוע המשיח ושליחו אל אשר קבלו אמונה יקרה כשלנו בצדקת אלהינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח׃ | 1 |
Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained faith, equally as precious as our own, in the plan of justification revealed by our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
| חסד ושלום יהיו לכם למכביר בדעת האלהים וישוע אדנינו׃ | 2 |
grace be to you, and peace be multiplied in the acknowledgment of God, and Jesus our Lord.
| באשר גבורתו האלהית נתנה לנו את כל אשר לחיים ולחסידות על ידי דעת הקורא אתנו בכבודו וחילו׃ | 3 |
As his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the acknowledgment of him who has called us by his glorious power,
| אשר בהם נתן לנו הבטחות גדלות מאד ויקרות למען תקחו על ידן חלק בטבע אלהים בהמלטכם מכליון התאוה אשר בעולם׃ | 4 |
through which things very great and precious favors that were promised have been given us, that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through desire:
| בעבור זאת השתדלו להעמיד באמונתכם את הצדקה ובצדקה את הדעת׃ | 5 |
so, even for this very purpose, uniting to these things all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge;
| ובדעת את הפרישות ובפרישות את הסבלנות ובסבלנות את החסידות׃ | 6 |
and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness;
| ובחסידות את האחוה ובאחוה את האהבה׃ | 7 |
and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
| כי אם אלה תמצאנה ותרבינה בכם לא תתנה אתכם להיות בטלים ובלא עשות פרי לדעת אדנינו ישוע המשיח׃ | 8 |
For if these things be in you, and abound, they cause you to be neither idle, nor unfruitful as it respects the acknowledgment of our Lord Jesus Christ.
| כי האיש אשר אין אלה לו עור הוא קצר הראות ושכח את טהרתו מחטאתיו הראשנות׃ | 9 |
But he who is wanting in these things is blind, and closes his eyes, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
| לכן אחי הוסיפו והשתדלו לחזק את קריאתכם ובחירתכם כי בעשותכם זאת כשול לא תכשלו׃ | 10 |
Wherefore, brethren, give the greater diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you will never fall.
| כי כן יפתח לפניכם לרוחה המבוא אל מלכות עולם אשר לאדנינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח׃ (aiōnios g166) | 11 |
For thus will an entrance be given you abundantly into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
| על כן לא אחדל להזכירכם על אלה בכל עת גם כי ידעתם והתכוננתם באמת אשר היא לפנינו׃ | 12 |
Wherefore, I will not neglect to remind you always of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth.
| ואחשב כי נכון להזכיר ולהעיר אתכם כל ימי היותי במשכן הזה׃ | 13 |
Indeed, I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to arouse you by putting you in remembrance.
| באשר ידעתי כי מהר יעתק משכני כאשר גם גלה לי אדנינו ישוע המשיח׃ | 14 |
For I know that the putting off of this my tabernacle is near at hand, even as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.
| ואשתדל שיהיה לכם תמיד גם אחרי פטירתי זכרון הדברים האלה׃ | 15 |
But I will earnestly endeavor that you may be able, even after my decease, to have these things always in remembrance.
| כי הודענו אתכם גבורת אדנינו ישוע המשיח ובאו לא בלכתנו אחרי הגדות מחכמות כי אם ראות היו עינינו את גדלתו׃ | 16 |
For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but we were eye-witnesses of his majesty.
| כי לקח מאת אלהים האב יקר וכבוד בבא אליו קול מתוך הדרת כבודו לאמר זה בני ידידי רצתה נפשי בו׃ | 17 |
For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came to him from the magnificent glory a voice, such as this: This is my beloved Son, in whom I delight.
| ואת הקול הזה שמענו באזנינו יצא משמים בהיותנו עמו בהר הקדש׃ | 18 |
And this voice, which came from heaven, we heard when we were with him in the holy mount;
| ועתה דבר הנבואה יותר קים אתנו והטיבתם עשות אשר שתם לבכם אליו כמו אל נר מאיר במקום אפל עד כי יבקע אור היום וזרח כוכב הנגה בלבבכם׃ | 19 |
and we have the prophetic word better established. You do well to attend to this, as to a lamp that shines in a dark place, till the day dawn, and the morning star arise in your hearts;
| וזאת תדעו ראשונה אשר כל נבואת המקרא איננה תלה בפתרון אדם מלבו׃ | 20 |
knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture came from private interpretation:
| כי מעולם לא יצאה נבואה ברצון האדם כי אם ברוח הקדש אשר נשאם דברו אנשי אלהים הקדושים׃ | 21 |
for the prophecy came not at any time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
