מלכים ב 11
| ועתליה אם אחזיהו וראתה כי מת בנה ותקם ותאבד את כל זרע הממלכה׃ | 1 |
And Athaliah [the] mother of Ahaziah (she saw *Q(K)*) that he was dead son her and she arose and she destroyed all [the] offspring of royalty.
| ותקח יהושבע בת המלך יורם אחות אחזיהו את יואש בן אחזיה ותגנב אתו מתוך בני המלך הממותתים אתו ואת מינקתו בחדר המטות ויסתרו אתו מפני עתליהו ולא הומת׃ | 2 |
And she took Jehosheba [the] daughter of the king Joram [the] sister of Ahaziah Joash [the] son of Ahaziah and she stole him from among [the] sons of the king (who were about to be put to death *Q(K)*) him and suckling-nurse his in [the] chamber of the beds and they hid him from before Athaliah and not he was put to death.
| ויהי אתה בית יהוה מתחבא שש שנים ועתליה מלכת על הארץ׃ | 3 |
And he was with her [the] house of Yahweh hiding himself six years and Athaliah [was] reigning over the land.
| ובשנה השביעית שלח יהוידע ויקח את שרי המאיות לכרי ולרצים ויבא אתם אליו בית יהוה ויכרת להם ברית וישבע אתם בבית יהוה וירא אתם את בן המלך׃ | 4 |
And in the year seventh he sent Jehoiada and he took - [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) of the Carian[s] and of the runners and he brought them to himself [the] house of Yahweh and he made to them a covenant and he made to swear an oath with them in [the] house of Yahweh and he showed them [the] son of the king.
| ויצום לאמר זה הדבר אשר תעשון השלשית מכם באי השבת ושמרי משמרת בית המלך׃ | 5 |
And he commanded them saying this [is] the thing which you will do! the third [part] of you [who] come the sabbath and [who] keep [the] watch of [the] house of the king.
| והשלשית בשער סור והשלשית בשער אחר הרצים ושמרתם את משמרת הבית מסח׃ | 6 |
And the third [part] [will be] at [the] gate of Sur and the third [part] [will be] at the gate behind the runners and you will keep [the] watch of the house by turns.
| ושתי הידות בכם כל יצאי השבת ושמרו את משמרת בית יהוה אל המלך׃ | 7 |
And [the] two the hands in you all [those who] go out the sabbath and they will keep [the] watch of [the] house of Yahweh to the king.
| והקפתם על המלך סביב איש וכליו בידו והבא אל השדרות יומת והיו את המלך בצאתו ובבאו׃ | 8 |
And you will surround the king all around everyone and weapons his in hand his and the [one who] comes into the ranks he will be put to death and be with the king when goes out he and when comes he.
| ויעשו שרי המאיות ככל אשר צוה יהוידע הכהן ויקחו איש את אנשיו באי השבת עם יצאי השבת ויבאו אל יהוידע הכהן׃ | 9 |
And they did [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) according to all that he commanded Jehoiada the priest and they took each men his [those who] came the sabbath with [those who] went out the sabbath and they came to Jehoiada the priest.
| ויתן הכהן לשרי המאיות את החנית ואת השלטים אשר למלך דוד אשר בבית יהוה׃ | 10 |
And he gave the priest to [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) the spear and the shields which [had belonged] to the king David which [were] in [the] house of Yahweh.
| ויעמדו הרצים איש וכליו בידו מכתף הבית הימנית עד כתף הבית השמאלית למזבח ולבית על המלך סביב׃ | 11 |
And they stood the runners everyone - and weapons his in hand his from [the] side of the house south to [the] side of the house north to the altar and to the house at the king all around.
| ויוצא את בן המלך ויתן עליו את הנזר ואת העדות וימלכו אתו וימשחהו ויכו כף ויאמרו יחי המלך׃ | 12 |
And he brought out [the] son of the king and he put on him the crown and the testimony and they made king him and they anointed him and they struck a palm and they said may he live the king.
| ותשמע עתליה את קול הרצין העם ותבא אל העם בית יהוה׃ | 13 |
And she heard Athaliah [the] sound of the runners the people and she went to the people [the] house of Yahweh.
| ותרא והנה המלך עמד על העמוד כמשפט והשרים והחצצרות אל המלך וכל עם הארץ שמח ותקע בחצצרות ותקרע עתליה את בגדיה ותקרא קשר קשר׃ | 14 |
And she saw and there! the king [was] standing at the pillar according to the custom and the commanders and the trumpets [were] with the king and all [the] people of the land [was] joyful and [was] giving a blast on trumpets and she tore Athaliah clothes her and she called out treason treason.
| ויצו יהוידע הכהן את שרי המאיות פקדי החיל ויאמר אליהם הוציאו אתה אל מבית לשדרת והבא אחריה המת בחרב כי אמר הכהן אל תומת בית יהוה׃ | 15 |
And he commanded Jehoiada the priest [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) [the] officers of the army and he said to them bring out her to from between to the ranks and the [one who] comes behind her put to death with the sword for he had said the priest may not she be put to death [the] house of Yahweh.
| וישמו לה ידים ותבוא דרך מבוא הסוסים בית המלך ותומת שם׃ | 16 |
And they put to her hands and she went [the] way of [the] entrance of the horses [the] house of the king and she was put to death there.
| ויכרת יהוידע את הברית בין יהוה ובין המלך ובין העם להיות לעם ליהוה ובין המלך ובין העם׃ | 17 |
And he made Jehoiada the covenant between Yahweh and between the king and between the people to become a people of Yahweh and between the king and between the people.
| ויבאו כל עם הארץ בית הבעל ויתצהו את מזבחתו ואת צלמיו שברו היטב ואת מתן כהן הבעל הרגו לפני המזבחות וישם הכהן פקדות על בית יהוה׃ | 18 |
And they went all [the] people of the land [the] house of Baal and they pulled down it (altars its *Q(K)*) and images its they broke thoroughly and Mattan [the] priest of Baal they killed before the altars and he appointed the priest overseers over [the] house of Yahweh.
| ויקח את שרי המאות ואת הכרי ואת הרצים ואת כל עם הארץ וירידו את המלך מבית יהוה ויבואו דרך שער הרצים בית המלך וישב על כסא המלכים׃ | 19 |
And he took [the] commanders of the hundreds and the Carian[s] and the runners and - all [the] people of the land and they took down the king from [the] house of Yahweh and they came [the] way of [the] gate of the runners [the] house of the king and he sat on [the] throne of the kings.
| וישמח כל עם הארץ והעיר שקטה ואת עתליהו המיתו בחרב בית מלך׃ | 20 |
And it rejoiced all [the] people of the land and the city it was at peace and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword [the] house of (the king. *Q(K)*)
| בן שבע שנים יהואש במלכו׃ | 21 |
[was] a son of Seven years Jehoash when became king he.
