ג'ון 6

1 כעבור זמן מה חצה ישוע את ים הכינרת (הנקרא גם ימת טבריה).

After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias).

2 אנשים רבים הלכו אחריו, כי ראו כיצד ריפא את החולים.

A large crowd was following him because they saw the miraculous signs he was performing on the sick.

3 ישוע ותלמידיו עלו על אחד ההרים והתיישבו על הארץ.

So Jesus went up on the mountain and sat there with his disciples.

4 היה זה זמן קצר לפני חג הפסח.

(Now the Jewish feast of the Passover was near.)

5 ישוע הביט סביבו וראה את ההמונים הבאים לקראתו.”מאין נשיג להם לחם לאכול?“ניסה ישוע את פיליפוס, כי למעשה ידע מה עמד לעשות.

When Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread so that these people may eat?”

(He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was about to do.)

7 ”גם אם נקנה לחם באלפיים שקלים, לא יספיק לכולם!“השיב פיליפוס.

Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be sufficient for each of them to receive a little portion.”

8 ‎אַנְדְּרֵי, אחיו של שמעון פטרוס, התערב ואמר:

Then one of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,

9 ”יש כאן ילד שבידו חמש ככרות לחם ושני דגים, אבל מה יועיל הדבר לכל האלפים האלה?“

“There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what good are they for so many people?”

10 ”אמרו לכולם לשבת על האדמה“, ביקש ישוע מהסובבים אותו. כחמשת־אלפים גברים (לא כולל נשים וילדים) היו שם, וכולם התיישבו על המדשאה.

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” (Now there was a lot of grass in that place.) So the men sat down, about five thousand in number.

11 ישוע לקח את ככרות הלחם, הודה לאלוהים, הגיש אותן לתלמידיו, והתלמידים הגישו לכל האנשים. ישוע עשה את אותו הדבר עם הדגים, וכולם אכלו לשובע.

Then Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks, he distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples distributed them to those who were seated. He did the same with the fish, and the people ate as much as they wanted.

12 ”אספו בבקשה את הפירורים שנשארו, “ביקש ישוע,”כדי שדבר לא ייזרק.“

When they were full, Jesus said to his disciples, “Gather together the pieces that are left over so that nothing is wasted.”

13 התלמידים אספו את הפירורים מחמש ככרות הלחם ומילאו בהם שנים־עשר סלים.

So they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the broken pieces from the five barley loaves that were left over by those who had eaten.

14 כשראה ההמון את הנס הזה, קרא:”זהו באמת הנביא שציפינו לו!“

When the people saw the sign that Jesus had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

15 ישוע ידע שהם היו מוכנים לאחוז בו בכוח ולהכתירו למלך, ומשום כך שוב נמלט לבדו אל אחד ההרים.

So Jesus, knowing that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew to the mountain by himself.

16 בערב ירדו התלמידים לים

When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,

17 ונכנסו לסירה, כשפניהם מועדות לכפר־נחום. הלילה ירד, וישוע עדיין לא שב אליהם.

and after getting into the boat, they started going across the sea to Capernaum. Darkness had already set in, but Jesus had not come to them.

18 בינתיים פרצה סערה בים, כי נשבה רוח חזקה.

Then the sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing.

19 התלמידים חתרו במשוטיהם כחמישה קילומטרים, ולפתע ראו את ישוע פוסע לקראתם על־פני המים. פחד אחז אותם,

When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea, and they were afraid.

20 אולם ישוע הרגיעם:”זה אני, ישוע, אל תפחדו.“

But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”

21 הם אספו אותו אל הסירה ומיד הגיעו אל יעדם.

Then they were willing to receive him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the land where they were heading.

22 למחרת התקהלו אנשים רבים במקום שישוע חולל את נס הלחם. הם המתינו לישוע, כי לא ראו אותו עוזב את המקום עם תלמידיו בסירה.

On the next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea realized that there had been no other boat there except the one Jesus' disciples had gotten into, and that Jesus himself had not gotten into the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.

23 בינתיים הגיעו אל המקום גם סירות אחרות מטבריה.

Then other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

24 כשנוכחו האנשים כי ישוע איננו שם, הם עלו לסירות והפליגו לכפר־נחום כדי לחפש אותו.

So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

25 הם מצאו אותו בכפר־נחום ושאלו בתמיהה:”רבי, כיצד הגעת הנה?“

When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did yoʋ get here?”

26 ”האמת היא שאתם רוצים להיות בחברתי מפני שאכלתם לשובע, ולא מפני שאתם מאמינים בי ובאותותיי!“השיב להם ישוע.

Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled.

27 ”אל תעמלו בעד המזון אשר כלה ונגמר, כי אם הקדישו את זמנכם למזון החיים שאותו תקבלו מבן־האדם, כי לשם כך שלח אותי האלוהים אבי.“ (aiōnios g166)

Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” (aiōnios g166)

28 ”מה עלינו לעשות כדי למצוא־חן בעיני אלוהים?“שאלו.

Then they said to him, “What must we do to do the works of God?”

29 ”אלוהים רוצה שתאמינו במי שהוא שלח אליכם“, השיב ישוע.

Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he has sent.”

30 ”אם ברצונך שנאמין כי אתה המשיח, עליך להראות לנו עוד נסים ונפלאות.

So they said to him, “What sign then are yoʋ going to perform so that we may see it and believe yoʋ? What will yoʋ do?

31 אבותינו אכלו יום יום את המן במדבר כמו שכתוב:’ודגן־שמים נתן להם‘.“

Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”

32 אולם ישוע הסביר:”אני אומר לכם שלא משה נתן לכם את הלחם מהשמים, אלא אבי הוא שנותן לכם את הלחם האמתי מהשמים.

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

33 הלחם האמתי הוא זה שנשלח מהשמים על־ידי אלוהים, והוא מעניק חיים לעולם.“

For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

34 ”אדון, “קראו,”תן לנו תמיד את הלחם הזה!“

So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”

35 ”אני הוא לחם החיים“, אמר ישוע.”כל הבא אלי לא ירעב לעולם. כל המאמין בי לא יצמא לעולם.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never hunger, and he who believes in me will never thirst.

36 אבל הבעיה היא שאינכם מאמינים גם לאחר שראיתם אותי.

But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

37 אולם אחדים יבואו אלי ויאמינו בי – אלה שאבי נתן לי – ואני מבטיח שלא אדחה איש,

Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and I will never cast out anyone who comes to me.

38 כי באתי לכאן מהשמים לעשות את רצונו של האלוהים אשר שלחני, ולא את רצוני.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

39 ”האב אשר שלח אותי רוצה שלא אאבד איש מאלה שנתן לי, אלא שאקים את כולם לתחייה ביום האחרון.

And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that I should lose none of those he has given me, but should raise them up on the last day.

40 זהו רצונו: שכל הרואה אותי ומאמין בי יחיה חיי נצח, ואני אקימו לתחייה ביום האחרון.“ (aiōnios g166)

And this is the will of him who sent me, that anyone who looks to the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (aiōnios g166)

41 היהודים רגזו עליו משום שטען כי הוא הלחם היורד מן השמים.

Then the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

42 ”אילו שטויות הוא מדבר?“שאלו.”הלא הוא ישוע בן־יוסף; אנחנו מכירים היטב את כל משפחתו! איך הוא מעז לטעון שהוא בא מהשמים?“

They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

43 ”אל תתרגזו על דברי אלה“, ביקש ישוע.

Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves.

44 ”רק מי שאלוהים שולח יוכל לבוא אלי, ואני אקימו לתחייה ביום האחרון.

No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.

45 הלא כתוב בספרי הנביאים:’וכל בניך למודי ה׳‘. ואמנם, כל השומע לקול אלוהים ולומד את האמת על אודותיו, יבוא אלי.

It is written in the Prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone therefore who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—

46 לא שמישהו ראה את האלוהים; אני לבדי ראיתי אותו, שהרי הוא שלח אותי.

not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.

47 ”אני אומר לכם באמת, כל המאמין בי יחיה חיי נצח. (aiōnios g166)

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

48 אני הוא לחם החיים.

I am the bread of life.

49 אבותיכם אכלו את המן במדבר ומתו.

Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and died.

50 אולם מי שאוכל מלחם החיים, היורד מהשמים, יחיה חיי נצח ולא ימות.

This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die.

51 אנוכי לחם החיים היורד מהשמים; כל האוכל מהלחם הזה יחיה לנצח. אני נותן את בשרי כלחם כדי שהעולם יחיה.“ (aiōn g165)

I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (aiōn g165)

52 ”איך הוא יכול לתת לנו לאכול את בשרו?“החלו היהודים להתווכח ביניהם.

Then the Jews began to quarrel with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

53 ”אני אומר לכם ברצינות, “המשיך ישוע,”אם לא תאכלו את בשר המשיח ולא תשתו את דמו, אין לכם חיים בקרבכם!

So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.

54 אולם כל האוכל את בשרי ושותה את דמי חי חיי נצח, ואני אקימו לתחייה ביום האחרון. (aiōnios g166)

Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (aiōnios g166)

55 כי בשרי הוא מזון אמתי, ודמי הוא משקה אמתי.

For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.

56 כל האוכל את בשרי ושותה את דמי חי בי, ואני חי בו.

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.

57 כל הניזון ממני חי בזכותי, כשם שאבי החי שלח אותי ואני חי בזכותו.

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me will also live because of me.

58 אני הלחם האמתי היורד מהשמים – לא כמו המן שאכלו אבותינו במדבר ומתו. כל האוכל את הלחם הזה יחיה לנצח.“ (aiōn g165)

This is the bread that came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna, and died. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (aiōn g165)

59 ישוע לימד אותם דברים אלה בבית־הכנסת בכפר־נחום.

He said these things in a synagogue while teaching in Capernaum.

60 אפילו תלמידיו אמרו:”קשה לקבל את מה שהוא אומר. איך אפשר להאמין בזה?“

After hearing this, many of his disciples said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?”

61 ישוע חש בלבו שתלמידיו התלוננו על דבריו.”מה מטריד אתכם?“שאל אותם.

But Jesus, aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Does this offend you?

62 ”מה תגידו אם תראו את בן־האדם עולה חזרה לשמים?

Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

63 רק רוח אלוהים מעניק חיים; בכוחו של האדם אין כל תועלת. הדברים שאמרתי לכם הם דברי רוח וחיים.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no benefit. The words I speak to you are spirit and life.

64 אך בכל זאת יש ביניכם כאלה שאינם מאמינים.“ישוע אמר זאת מפני שידע מראש מי לא יאמין בו ומי יסגיר אותו.

But there are some among you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which of them did not believe and who it was that would betray him.)

65 ”משום כך אמרתי לכם שאיש אינו יכול לבוא אלי אלא אם זה מעשה מידי אלוהים“, הסביר ישוע.

Then he said, “That is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by my Father.”

66 באותו יום עזבו אותו תלמידים רבים.

At that point many of his disciples went back and no longer walked with him.

67 ”האם גם אתם רוצים לעזוב אותי?“שאל ישוע את שנים־עשר תלמידיו.

So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”

68 ”אדוני, לאן נלך ולמי?“קרא שמעון פטרוס.”רק לך יש דברים של חיי נצח, (aiōnios g166)

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Yoʋ have the words of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

69 ואנחנו יודעים ומאמינים שאתה קדוש האלוהים!“

And we have come to believe and to know that yoʋ are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

70 השיב להם ישוע:”אני בחרתי בכם בעצמי – שנים־עשר במספר – ובכל זאת, אחד מכם הוא שטן.“

Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.”

71 הוא התכוון ליהודה בן־שמעון איש־קריות, אחד משנים־עשר התלמידים, שעמד להסגירו.

(Now he was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was one of the twelve and would later betray him.)

Jesus Feeds the Multitudes
