| ”אני אומר לכם באמת, “המשיך ישוע,”מי שמסרב להיכנס למכלאת הצאן דרך השער, ובוחר להיכנס בדרך הצדדית, הוא גנב או שודד. | 1 |
"In most solemn truth I tell you that the man who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs over some other way, is a thief and a robber.
| האדם שנכנס דרך השער הוא רועה הצאן. | 2 |
But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
| השומר יפתח לו את השער, עדר הצאן ישמע ויכיר את קולו, והרועה יוביל את הצאן החוצה כשהוא נוקב בשם כל כבשה. | 3 |
To him the porter opens the door, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by their names and leads them out.
| הרועה הולך בראש והעדר נוהר אחריו, כי הוא מזהה את הרועה ומכיר את קולו. | 4 |
When he has brought out his own sheep--all of them--he walks at the head of them; and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
| הצאן לא תלכנה אחרי אדם זר, אלא תברחנה מפניו, כי קולו אינו מוכר להן.“ | 5 |
But a stranger they will by no means follow, but will run away from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."
| אלה ששמעו משל זה מפי ישוע לא הבינו למה התכוון, | 6 |
Jesus spoke to them in this figurative language, but they did not understand what He meant.
| ולכן ישוע הסביר להם:”אמן אני אומר לכם: אני השער של מכלאת הצאן. | 7 |
Again therefore Jesus said to them, "In most solemn truth I tell you that I am the Door of the sheep.
| כל אלה שבאו לפני היו גנבים ושודדים, אולם הצאן לא שמעו בקולם. | 8 |
All who have come before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep would not listen to them.
| כן, אנוכי השער. הנכנסים דרכי יוושעו וימצאו מרעה עשיר בבואם ובצאתם. | 9 |
I am the Door. If any one enters by me, he will find safety, and will go in and out and find pasture.
| הגנב בא לגנוב, להרוג ולהשמיד, ואילו אני באתי להעניק חיים בשפע. | 10 |
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy: I have come that they may have Life, and may have it in abundance.
| ”אני הרועה הטוב, ורועה טוב מקריב את חייו למען צאנו. | 11 |
"I am the Good Shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his very life for the sheep.
| כאשר רועה שכיר יראה זאב מתקרב, הוא יברח ויעזוב את הצאן לאנחות, כי העדר אינו שייך לו, והזאב יחטוף ויפזר את הצאן. | 12 |
The hired servant--one who is not a shepherd and does not own the sheep--no sooner sees the wolf coming than he leaves the sheep and runs away; and the wolf worries and scatters them.
| הרועה השכיר יברח, משום שאינו אלא שכיר ואין הוא דואג לצאן באמת. | 13 |
For he is only a hired servant and cares nothing for the sheep.
| ”אני הרועה הטוב; אני מכיר את צאני והן מכירות אותי, | 14 |
"I am the Good Shepherd. And I know my sheep and my sheep know me,
| כשם שאבי מכיר אותי ואני מכיר את אבי; ואני מקריב את חיי למען הצאן. | 15 |
just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I am laying down my life for the sheep.
| יש לי עדר נוסף שאינו מהמכלאה הזאת. עלי להנהיג גם אותו, והצאן שומעות בקולי; כך יהיה עדר אחד ורועה אחד. | 16 |
I have also other sheep--which do not belong to this fold. Those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice; and they shall become one flock under one Shepherd.
| ”אבי אוהב אותי משום שאני מקריב את חיי כדי שאקבל אותם חזרה. | 17 |
For this reason my Father loves me, because I am laying down my life in order to receive it back again.
| איש אינו יכול להרוג אותי ללא הסכמתי. אני מקריב את חיי מרצוני, מפני שיש לי זכות וכוח להקריב את חיי כשאני רוצה בכך, ואף זכות וכוח להשיבם לעצמי. אלוהים הוא המעניק לי זכות זאת.“ | 18 |
No one is taking it away from me, but I myself am laying it down. I am authorized to lay it down, and I am authorized to receive it back again. This is the command I received from my Father."
| דבריו אלה שוב גרמו למחלוקת בין מנהיגי היהודים. | 19 |
Again there arose a division among the Jews because of these words.
| חלקם אמר:”או שהוא יצא מדעתו, או שנכנס בו שד! מדוע אתם מקשיבים לו?“ | 20 |
Many of them said, "He is possessed by a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to him?"
| אחרים אמרו:”הוא אינו נשמע כמי שנכנס בו שד. האם שד יכול לפקוח עיני עיוורים?“ | 21 |
Others argued, "That is not the language of a demoniac: and can a demon open blind men's eyes?"
| בחג החנוכה, בחורף, | 22 |
The Dedication Festival came on in Jerusalem. It was winter,
| התהלך ישוע בבית־המקדש באגף הנקרא”אולם שלמה“. | 23 |
and Jesus was walking in the Temple in Solomon's Portico,
| היהודים הקיפוהו מכל עבר ושאלו:”עד מתי בכוונתך לסקרן אותנו? אם אתה הוא המשיח, מדוע אינך אומר זאת בפירוש?“ | 24 |
when the Jews gathered round Him and kept asking Him, "How long do you mean to keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us so plainly."
| ”כבר אמרתי לכם, אבל לא האמנתם לי“, השיב ישוע.”המעשים שאני עושה בשם אבי מאשרים זאת. | 25 |
"I have told you," answered Jesus, "and you do not believe. The deeds that I do in my Father's name--they give testimony about me.
| אולם אינכם מאמינים לי, כי אינכם שייכים לצאני. | 26 |
But you do not believe, because you are not my sheep.
| אני מכיר את צאני, צאני מכירות את קולי והן הולכות אחרי. | 27 |
My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
| כי אבי נתן לי אותן, והוא חזק וגיבור מכולם. משום כך לא יוכל איש לחטוף אותן ממני. | 29 |
What my Father has given me is more precious than all besides; and no one is able to wrest anything from my Father's hand.
| אבי ואני אחד אנחנו!“ | 30 |
I and the Father are one."
| שוב החלו מנהיגי היהודים להשליך עליו אבנים. | 31 |
Again the Jews brought stones with which to stone Him.
| ”הראיתי לכם הרבה מעשים טובים בשם אבי, איזה מהם גרם לכך שתשליכו עלי אבנים?“שאל ישוע. | 32 |
Jesus remonstrated with them. "Many good deeds," He said, "have I shown you as coming from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?"
| ”איננו משליכים עליך אבנים בגלל המעשים הטובים שעשית, אלא בגלל שאתה מגדף את האלוהים; למרות שאתה אדם, אתה עושה את עצמך לאלוהים!“ | 33 |
"For no good deed," the Jews replied, "are we going to stone you, but for blasphemy, and because you, who are only a man, are making yourself out to be God."
| ”אך הכתובים שלכם אומרים:’אלוהים אתם‘, והכוונה היא לבני־האדם“, השיב ישוע. | 34 |
"Does it not stand written in your Law," replied Jesus, "'I said, you are gods'?
| ”אם האנשים שאליהם מדברים הכתובים מכונים’אלוהים‘, והכתוב הוא דבר אמת, | 35 |
If those to whom God's word was addressed are called gods (and the Scripture cannot be annulled),
| מדוע קוראים אתם’מגדף‘למי שקדשו האב ונשלח לעולם הזה על־ידו, ושטוען כי הוא בן האלוהים? | 36 |
how is it that you say to one whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am God's Son'?
| אם איני עושה מעשים כפי שעושה אבי, אל תאמינו לי. | 37 |
If the deeds I do are not my Father's deeds, do not believe me.
| אולם אם אני אכן עושה את מעשי אבי, האמינו לפחות למעשים גם אם אינכם מאמינים לי, ואז תשוכנעו שאבי שוכן בי ואני בו.“ | 38 |
But if they are, then even if you do not believe me, at least believe the deeds, that you may know and see clearly that the Father is in me, and that I am in the Father."
| הם שוב רצו לתפוס את ישוע, אולם הוא התחמק מידיהם. | 39 |
This made them once more try to arrest Him, but He withdrew out of their power.
| ישוע חזר לעבר הירדן, למקום שבו הטביל יוחנן לראשונה. הוא נשאר שם זמן־מה, | 40 |
Then He went away again to the other side of the Jordan, to the place where John had been baptizing at first; and there He stayed.
| ואנשים רבים הלכו אחריו.”יוחנן לא חולל נסים, “אמרו זה לזה,”אולם כל מה שאמר על האיש הזה היה אמת.“ | 41 |
Large numbers of people also came to Him. Their report was, "John did not work any miracle, but all that John said about this Teacher was true."
| אנשים רבים במקום ההוא האמינו כי ישוע באמת המשיח. | 42 |
And many became believers in Him there.
