אֶל־הָאֶפְסִיִּים 5

1 עליכם ללכת בעקבות אלוהים, כי אתם ילדיו והוא אוהב אתכם.

Therfor be ye foloweris of God, as moost dereworthe sones;

2 אהבו איש את רעהו, כשם שהמשיח אהב אותנו וביטא אהבה זאת בהקריבו את עצמו למעננו, כדי לסלוח על חטאינו, וקורבנו היה רצוי לאלוהים.

and walke ye in loue, as Crist louyde vs, and yaf hym silf for vs an offryng and a sacrifice to God, in to the odour of swetnesse.

3 בכל הנוגע למעשי זנות למיניהם, מעשי טומאה ואהבת בצע – אפילו אל תזכירו אותם! נושאים אלה אינם הולמים שיחת מאמינים משיחיים.

And fornycacioun, and al vnclennesse, or aueryce, be not named among you, as it bicometh holi men;

4 הימנעו גם מניבול־פה, דברי שטות וליצנות – אין הם הולמים אתכם! לעומת זאת, הזכירו איש לרעהו את טוב־לבו של אלוהים והיו אסירי תודה.

ethir filthe, or foli speche, or harlatrye, that perteyneth not to profit, but more doyng of thankyngis.

5 דעו לכם כי הזונים ואוהבי הבצע, שאינם אלא עובדי אלילים, לעולם לא יירשו את מלכות האלוהים והמשיח, כי הם אוהבים את דברי העולם הזה יותר מאשר את אלוהים.

For wite ye this, and vndurstonde, that ech letchour, or vnclene man, or coueytouse, that serueth to mawmetis, hath not eritage in the kingdom of Crist and of God.

6 אל תניחו לאיש להתעות אתכם בנושא זה, כי בגלל חטאים כאלה ישפוך אלוהים את זעמו על מי שמורד בו.

No man disseyue you bi veyn wordis; for whi for these thingis the wraththe of God cam on the sones of vnbileue.

7 אף אל תתחברו עם אנשים כאלה!

Therfor nyle ye be maad parteneris of hem.

8 פעם חייתם בחשכה ובחטא, אך כעת אתם חיים באור אדוננו, והתנהגותכם צריכה להוכיח זאת.

For ye weren sum tyme derknessis, but now `ye ben liyt in the Lord. Walke ye as the sones of liyt.

9 שכן פרי הרוח והאור הוא כל דבר טוב, צודק ואמיתי.

For the fruyt of liyt is in al goodnesse, and riytwisnesse, and treuthe.

10 השתדלו ללמוד מה רצוי בעיני אדוננו.

And preue ye what `thing is wel plesynge to God.

11 אל תשתתפו במעשים רעים למיניהם שאינם מביאים כל תועלת, אלא הוקיעו אותם!

And nyle ye comyne to vnfruytouse werkis of derknessis; but more repreue ye.

12 בושה וחרפה היא מה שעושים הרשעים בסתר.

For what thingis ben don of hem in priuy, it is foule, yhe, to speke.

13 כשאתה חושף אותם לאור נראים חטאיהם בבירור, ובמקום שבו ניתן לראות בבירור יש אור.

And alle thingis that ben repreuyd of the liyt, ben opynli schewid; for al thing that is schewid, is liyt.

14 על כן נֶאֱמַר:”התעורר, אתה הישן, קום מן המתים והמשיח יאיר עליך!“

For which thing he seith, Rise thou that slepist, and rise vp fro deth, and Crist schal liytne thee.

15 לפיכך התנהגו בזהירות, שכן אלה הם ימים קשים. אל תהיו שוטים, אלא חכמים, ונצלו היטב כל הזדמנות לעשות מעשים טובים.

Therfor, britheren, se ye, hou warli ye schulen go;

not as vnwise men, but as wise men, ayenbiynge tyme, for the daies ben yuele.

17 אל תתנהגו בחוסר מחשבה, אלא השתדלו להבין מה רוצה האדון שתעשו, ועשו זאת!

Therfor nyle ye be maad vnwise, but vndurstondynge which is the wille of God.

18 אל תרבו בשתיית יין, כי שתייה מרובה גורמת למעשים רעים. לעומת זאת, מלאו עצמכם ברוח הקודש והניחו לו לשלוט בכם.

And nyle ye be drunkun of wyn, in which is letcherie, but be ye fillid with the Hooli Goost; and speke ye to you silf in salmes,

19 בפגשכם זה את זה שוחחו על אודות האדון, צטטו מזמורי תהלים, שירו שירים רוחניים וזמרו לאלוהים בלבבכם.

and ymnes, and spiritual songis, syngynge and seiynge salm in youre hertis to the Lord;

20 הודו תמיד על כל דבר לאלוהים אבינו בשם ישוע המשיח אדוננו.

euermore doynge thankingis for alle thingis in the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist to God and to the fadir.

21 כבדו את המשיח על־ידי כניעתכם איש לרעהו.

Be ye suget togidere in the drede of Crist.

22 נשים, עליכן להיכנע ולציית לבעליכן, כשם שאתן נכנעות ומצייתות למשיח.

Wymmen, be thei suget to her hosebondis,

23 כי הבעל הוא ראש האישה, כשם שהמשיח הוא ראש הקהילה, שהיא גופו ואשר למענה הקריב את חייו, כדי להושיעה ולדאוג לה.

as to the Lord, for the man is heed of the wymman, as Crist is heed of the chirche; he is sauyour of his bodi.

24 אם כן, עליכן, הנשים, להיכנע ברצון לבעליכן בכל דבר, כשם שהקהילה נכנעת למשיח.

But as the chirche is suget to Crist, so wymmen to her hosebondis in alle thingis.

25 אתם, הבעלים, אהבו את נשותיכם באותה מידה שאהב המשיח את הקהילה, כשהקריב את חייו למענה

Men, loue ye youre wyues, as Crist louyde the chirche, and yaf hym silf for it, to make it holi;

26 כדי לזכותה ולקדשה, לרחצה בדבר אלוהים,

and clenside it with the waisching of watir, in the word of lijf,

27 למען יוכל להעמידה לפניו כקהילה יפה וקדושה, חסרת־דופי, כתם או פגם.

to yyue the chirche gloriouse to hym silf, that it hadde no wem, ne ryueling, or ony siche thing, but that it be hooli and vndefoulid.

28 על הבעלים לאהוב את נשותיהם כמו את עצמם, כי הבעל ואשתו אחד הם.

So and men `schulen loue her wyues, as her owne bodies. He that loueth his wijf, loueth hym silf;

29 הרי איש אינו שונא את גופו, אלא מזין אותו ודואג לו באהבה, כשם שהמשיח דואג לקהילתו, ואנו הרי איברי גופו, בשר מבשרו.

for no man hatide euere his owne fleisch, but nurischith and fostrith it, as Crist doith the chirche.

And we ben membris of his bodi, of his fleisch, and of his boonys.

31 כפי שאומר הכתוב:”על כן יעזוב איש את אביו ואת אמו, ודבק באשתו והיו לבשר אחד.“

For this thing a man schal forsake his fadir and modir, and he schal drawe to his wijf; and thei schulen be tweyne in o fleisch.

32 קשר הנשואים הוא דבר מופלא, אך יש בו הקבלה לקשר שבין המשיח והקהילה.

This sacrament is greet; yhe, Y seie in Crist, and in the chirche.

33 אם כן, אני חוזר ואומר: הבעל חייב לאהוב את אשתו כמו את עצמו, והאישה חייבת לכבד את בעלה ולציית לו.

Netheles ye alle, ech man loue his wijf as hym silf; and the wijf drede hir hosebonde.
