| ראשית כל אני מבקש מכם להרבות בתפילה בעד כל בני־אדם. התחננו לפני אלוהים ובקשו ממנו שירחם עליהם, ואל תשכחו להודות לו בשם כולם. | 1 |
I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men,
| התפללו בעד המלכים, המנהיגים ואנשי־השלטון למיניהם, כדי שנוכל לחיות בשקט ובשלווה, באורח מכובד וביראת אלוהים. | 2 |
for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.
| זהו רצונו של האלוהים מושיענו, | 3 |
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour,
| כי הוא חפץ שכולם ייוושעו ויאמינו באמת, כלומר: | 4 |
who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth.
| שיש רק אלוהים אחד ומתווך אחד בינו לבין בני־האדם, הלא הוא בן־האדם ישוע המשיח, | 5 |
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Messiah Yeshua,
| אשר הקריב את נפשו בעד כל בני־האדם, והעדות לכך ניתנה במועד המתאים. | 6 |
who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony at the proper time,
| אני אומר לכם את האמת: נבחרתי לתפקיד שליחו של אלוהים כדי ללמד את הגויים אמת זאת, וכדי להראות להם את תוכניתו של אלוהים לישועה דרך האמונה. | 7 |
to which I was appointed a proclaimer and an emissary—I am telling the truth in Messiah, not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
| משום כך אני רוצה שהמאמינים יתפללו בכל מקום ויניפו את ידיהם, כשליבם נקי מכל טינה, כעס או ספק. | 8 |
I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.
| על הנשים להתלבש בצניעות, בתלבושת נאה ופשוטה, ואל להן להתגנדר בתסרוקות המושכות את העין, ולא בתכשיטים או במלבושים יקרים. | 9 |
In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing,
| כי על הנשים המשיחיות למשוך תשומת־לב במעשיהן הטובים, כיאה לנשים שבחרו לאהוב את אלוהים ולשרתו. | 10 |
but with good works, which is appropriate for women professing godliness.
| עליהן להקשיב וללמוד בשקט ובענווה. | 11 |
Let a woman learn in quietness with full submission.
| על הנשים לשבת בשקט באסיפות הקהילה. איני מרשה לנשים ללמד את הגברים או להתנשא עליהם. | 12 |
But I don’t permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.
| מדוע? מפני שאלוהים ברא לראשונה את אדם, ורק לאחר מכן את חוה. | 13 |
For Adam was formed first, then Havah.
| ולא אדם הוא שרומה על־ידי השטן, כי אם חוה לא עמדה בפיתוי וחטאה. | 14 |
Adam wasn’t deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;
| מכאן הכאב והסבל של האישה בעת לידת בניה, אך נפשה תיוושע אם תמשיך לחיות באמונה, קדושה, אהבה וצניעות. | 15 |
but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness with sobriety.
