< מִשְׁלֵי 16 >
לְאָדָם מַֽעַרְכֵי־לֵב וּמֵיְהוָה מַעֲנֵה לָשֽׁוֹן׃ | 1 |
The preparations of the heart belong to man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
כָּֽל־דַּרְכֵי־אִישׁ זַךְ בְּעֵינָיו וְתֹכֵן רוּחוֹת יְהוָֽה׃ | 2 |
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
גֹּל אֶל־יְהוָה מַעֲשֶׂיךָ וְיִכֹּנוּ מַחְשְׁבֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 3 |
Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
כֹּל פָּעַל יְהוָה לַֽמַּעֲנֵהוּ וְגַם־רָשָׁע לְיוֹם רָעָֽה׃ | 4 |
The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
תּוֹעֲבַת יְהוָה כָּל־גְּבַהּ־לֵב יָד לְיָד לֹא יִנָּקֶֽה׃ | 5 |
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
בְּחֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת יְכֻפַּר עָוֺן וּבְיִרְאַת יְהוָה סוּר מֵרָֽע׃ | 6 |
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
בִּרְצוֹת יְהוָה דַּרְכֵי־אִישׁ גַּם־אוֹיְבָיו יַשְׁלִם אִתּֽוֹ׃ | 7 |
When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
טוֹב־מְעַט בִּצְדָקָה מֵרֹב תְּבוּאוֹת בְּלֹא מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ | 8 |
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
לֵב אָדָם יְחַשֵּׁב דַּרְכּוֹ וַֽיהוָה יָכִין צַעֲדֽוֹ׃ | 9 |
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
קֶסֶם ׀ עַֽל־שִׂפְתֵי־מֶלֶךְ בְּמִשְׁפָּט לֹא יִמְעַל־פִּֽיו׃ | 10 |
A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
פֶּלֶס ׀ וּמֹאזְנֵי מִשְׁפָּט לַֽיהוָה מַעֲשֵׂהוּ כָּל־אַבְנֵי־כִֽיס׃ | 11 |
A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.
תּוֹעֲבַת מְלָכִים עֲשׂוֹת רֶשַׁע כִּי בִצְדָקָה יִכּוֹן כִּסֵּֽא׃ | 12 |
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
רְצוֹן מְלָכִים שִׂפְתֵי־צֶדֶק וְדֹבֵר יְשָׁרִים יֶאֱהָֽב׃ | 13 |
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
חֲמַת־מֶלֶךְ מַלְאֲכֵי־מָוֶת וְאִישׁ חָכָם יְכַפְּרֶֽנָּה׃ | 14 |
The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
בְּאוֹר־פְּנֵי־מֶלֶךְ חַיִּים וּרְצוֹנוֹ כְּעָב מַלְקֽוֹשׁ׃ | 15 |
In the light of a king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
קְֽנֹה־חָכְמָה מַה־טּוֹב מֵחָרוּץ וּקְנוֹת בִּינָה נִבְחָר מִכָּֽסֶף׃ | 16 |
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
מְסִלַּת יְשָׁרִים סוּר מֵרָע שֹׁמֵר נַפְשׁוֹ נֹצֵר דַּרְכּֽוֹ׃ | 17 |
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
לִפְנֵי־שֶׁבֶר גָּאוֹן וְלִפְנֵי כִשָּׁלוֹן גֹּבַהּ רֽוּחַ׃ | 18 |
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
טוֹב שְׁפַל־רוּחַ אֶת־עניים עֲנָוִים מֵֽחַלֵּק שָׁלָל אֶת־גֵּאִֽים׃ | 19 |
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
מַשְׂכִּיל עַל־דָּבָר יִמְצָא־טוֹב וּבוֹטֵחַ בַּיהוָה אַשְׁרָֽיו׃ | 20 |
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
לַחֲכַם־לֵב יִקָּרֵא נָבוֹן וּמֶתֶק שְׂפָתַיִם יֹסִיף לֶֽקַח׃ | 21 |
The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
מְקוֹר חַיִּים שֵׂכֶל בְּעָלָיו וּמוּסַר אֱוִלִים אִוֶּֽלֶת׃ | 22 |
Understanding is a wellspring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
לֵב חָכָם יַשְׂכִּיל פִּיהוּ וְעַל־שְׂפָתָיו יֹסִיף לֶֽקַח׃ | 23 |
The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
צוּף־דְּבַשׁ אִמְרֵי־נֹעַם מָתוֹק לַנֶּפֶשׁ וּמַרְפֵּא לָעָֽצֶם׃ | 24 |
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
יֵשׁ דֶּרֶךְ יָשָׁר לִפְנֵי־אִישׁ וְאַחֲרִיתָהּ דַּרְכֵי־מָֽוֶת׃ | 25 |
There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it is the way of death.
נֶפֶשׁ עָמֵל עָמְלָה לּוֹ כִּֽי־אָכַף עָלָיו פִּֽיהוּ׃ | 26 |
He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
אִישׁ בְּלִיַּעַל כֹּרֶה רָעָה וְעַל־שפתיו שְׂפָתוֹ כְּאֵשׁ צָרָֽבֶת׃ | 27 |
An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
אִישׁ תַּהְפֻּכוֹת יְשַׁלַּח מָדוֹן וְנִרְגָּן מַפְרִיד אַלּֽוּף׃ | 28 |
A perverse man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
אִישׁ חָמָס יְפַתֶּה רֵעֵהוּ וְהוֹלִיכוֹ בְּדֶרֶךְ לֹא־טֽוֹב׃ | 29 |
A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.
עֹצֶה עֵינָיו לַחְשֹׁב תַּהְפֻּכוֹת קֹרֵץ שְׂפָתָיו כִּלָּה רָעָֽה׃ | 30 |
He shutteth his eyes to devise perverse things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
עֲטֶרֶת תִּפְאֶרֶת שֵׂיבָה בְּדֶרֶךְ צְדָקָה תִּמָּצֵֽא׃ | 31 |
The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it is found in the way of righteousness.
טוֹב אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם מִגִּבּוֹר וּמֹשֵׁל בְּרוּחוֹ מִלֹּכֵד עִֽיר׃ | 32 |
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
בַּחֵיק יוּטַל אֶת־הַגּוֹרָל וּמֵיְהוָה כָּל־מִשְׁפָּטֽוֹ׃ | 33 |
The lot is cast into the lap; but its whole disposing is from the LORD.
