תְהִלִּים 119
| אַשְׁרֵ֥י תְמִֽימֵי־דָ֑רֶךְ הַֽ֝הֹלְכִ֗ים בְּתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃ | 1 |
ALEPH. Blessed [are] the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
| אַ֭שְׁרֵי נֹצְרֵ֥י עֵדֹתָ֗יו בְּכָל־לֵ֥ב יִדְרְשֽׁוּהוּ׃ | 2 |
Blessed [are] they that keep his testimonies, [and that] seek him with the whole heart.
| אַ֭ף לֹֽא־פָעֲל֣וּ עַוְלָ֑ה בִּדְרָכָ֥יו הָלָֽכוּ׃ | 3 |
They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
| אַ֭תָּה צִוִּ֥יתָה פִקֻּדֶ֗יךָ לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מְאֹֽד׃ | 4 |
Thou hast commanded [us] to keep thy precepts diligently.
| אַ֭חֲלַי יִכֹּ֥נוּ דְרָכָ֗י לִשְׁמֹ֥ר חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 5 |
O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
| אָ֥ז לֹא־אֵב֑וֹשׁ בְּ֝הַבִּיטִ֗י אֶל־כָּל־מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 6 |
Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect to all thy commandments.
| א֭וֹדְךָ בְּיֹ֣שֶׁר לֵבָ֑ב בְּ֝לָמְדִ֗י מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ | 7 |
I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
| אֶת־חֻקֶּ֥יךָ אֶשְׁמֹ֑ר אַֽל־תַּעַזְבֵ֥נִי עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ | 8 |
I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
| בַּמֶּ֣ה יְזַכֶּה־נַּ֭עַר אֶת־אָרְח֑וֹ לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 9 |
BETH. Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed [to it], according to thy word.
| בְּכָל־לִבִּ֥י דְרַשְׁתִּ֑יךָ אַל־תַּ֝שְׁגֵּ֗נִי מִמִּצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 10 |
With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
| בְּ֭לִבִּי צָפַ֣נְתִּי אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֶֽחֱטָא־לָֽךְ׃ | 11 |
Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.
| בָּר֖וּךְ אַתָּ֥ה יְהוָ֗ה לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 12 |
Blessed [art] thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
| בִּשְׂפָתַ֥י סִפַּ֑רְתִּי כֹּ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵי־פִֽיךָ׃ | 13 |
With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth.
| בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ עֵדְוֹתֶ֥יךָ שַׂ֗שְׂתִּי כְּעַ֣ל כָּל־הֽוֹן׃ | 14 |
I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as [much as] in all riches.
| בְּפִקֻּדֶ֥יךָ אָשִׂ֑יחָה וְ֝אַבִּ֗יטָה אֹרְחֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 15 |
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect to thy ways.
| בְּחֻקֹּתֶ֥יךָ אֶֽשְׁתַּעֲשָׁ֑ע לֹ֭א אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח דְּבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 16 |
I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
| גְּמֹ֖ל עַֽל־עַבְדְּךָ֥ אֶֽחְיֶ֗ה וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֥ה דְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 17 |
GIMEL. Deal bountifully with thy servant, [that] I may live, and keep thy word.
| גַּל־עֵינַ֥י וְאַבִּ֑יטָה נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת מִתּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 18 |
Open thou my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
| גֵּ֣ר אָנֹכִ֣י בָאָ֑רֶץ אַל־תַּסְתֵּ֥ר מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 19 |
I [am] a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.
| גָּרְסָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֣י לְתַאֲבָ֑ה אֶֽל־מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ בְכָל־עֵֽת׃ | 20 |
My soul breaketh for the longing [that it hath] to thy judgments at all times.
| גָּ֭עַרְתָּ זֵדִ֣ים אֲרוּרִ֑ים הַ֝שֹּׁגִים מִמִּצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 21 |
Thou hast rebuked the proud [that are] cursed, who do err from thy commandments.
| גַּ֣ל מֵֽ֭עָלַי חֶרְפָּ֣ה וָב֑וּז כִּ֖י עֵדֹתֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ | 22 |
Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.
| גַּ֤ם יָֽשְׁב֣וּ שָׂ֭רִים בִּ֣י נִדְבָּ֑רוּ עַ֝בְדְּךָ֗ יָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּחֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 23 |
Princes also did sit [and] speak against me: [but] thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
| גַּֽם־עֵ֭דֹתֶיךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֗י אַנְשֵׁ֥י עֲצָתִֽי׃ | 24 |
Thy testimonies also [are] my delight, [and] my counselors.
| דָּֽבְקָ֣ה לֶעָפָ֣ר נַפְשִׁ֑י חַ֝יֵּ֗נִי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 25 |
DALETH. My soul cleaveth to the dust: revive thou me according to thy word.
| דְּרָכַ֣י סִ֭פַּרְתִּי וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֗נִי לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 26 |
I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
| דֶּֽרֶךְ־פִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ הֲבִינֵ֑נִי וְ֝אָשִׂ֗יחָה בְּנִפְלְאוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 27 |
Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
| דָּלְפָ֣ה נַ֭פְשִׁי מִתּוּגָ֑ה קַ֝יְּמֵ֗נִי כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 28 |
My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according to thy word.
| דֶּֽרֶךְ־שֶׁ֭קֶר הָסֵ֣ר מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ חָנֵּֽנִי׃ | 29 |
Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
| דֶּֽרֶךְ־אֱמוּנָ֥ה בָחָ֑רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ שִׁוִּֽיתִי׃ | 30 |
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid [before me].
| דָּבַ֥קְתִּי בְעֵֽדְוֹתֶ֑יךָ יְ֝הוָ֗ה אַל־תְּבִישֵֽׁנִי׃ | 31 |
I have adhered to thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
| דֶּֽרֶךְ־מִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ אָר֑וּץ כִּ֖י תַרְחִ֣יב לִבִּֽי׃ | 32 |
I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
| הוֹרֵ֣נִי יְ֭הוָה דֶּ֥רֶךְ חֻקֶּ֗יךָ וְאֶצְּרֶ֥נָּה עֵֽקֶב׃ | 33 |
HE. Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it [to] the end.
| הֲ֭בִינֵנִי וְאֶצְּרָ֥ה תֽוֹרָתֶ֗ךָ וְאֶשְׁמְרֶ֥נָּה בְכָל־לֵֽב׃ | 34 |
Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yes, I shall observe it with [my] whole heart.
| הַ֭דְרִיכֵנִי בִּנְתִ֣יב מִצְוֹתֶ֑יךָ כִּי־ב֥וֹ חָפָֽצְתִּי׃ | 35 |
Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for in that do I delight.
| הַט־לִ֭בִּי אֶל־עֵדְוֹתֶ֗יךָ וְאַ֣ל אֶל־בָּֽצַע׃ | 36 |
Incline my heart to thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.
| הַעֲבֵ֣ר עֵ֭ינַי מֵרְא֣וֹת שָׁ֑וְא בִּדְרָכֶ֥ךָ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ | 37 |
Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity; [and] revive thou me in thy way.
| הָקֵ֣ם לְ֭עַבְדְּךָ אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לְיִרְאָתֶֽךָ׃ | 38 |
Establish thy word to thy servant, who [is devoted] to thy fear.
| הַעֲבֵ֣ר חֶ֭רְפָּתִי אֲשֶׁ֣ר יָגֹ֑רְתִּי כִּ֖י מִשְׁפָּטֶ֣יךָ טוֹבִֽים׃ | 39 |
Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments [are] good.
| הִ֭נֵּה תָּאַ֣בְתִּי לְפִקֻּדֶ֑יךָ בְּצִדְקָתְךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ | 40 |
Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: revive me in thy righteousness.
| וִֽיבֹאֻ֣נִי חֲסָדֶ֣ךָ יְהוָ֑ה תְּ֝שֽׁוּעָתְךָ֗ כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 41 |
VAU. Let thy mercies come also to me, O LORD, [even] thy salvation, according to thy word.
| וְאֶֽעֱנֶ֣ה חֹרְפִ֣י דָבָ֑ר כִּֽי־בָ֝טַחְתִּי בִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 42 |
So shall I have with which to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
| וְֽאַל־תַּצֵּ֬ל מִפִּ֣י דְבַר־אֱמֶ֣ת עַד־מְאֹ֑ד כִּ֖י לְמִשְׁפָּטֶ֣ךָ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ | 43 |
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
| וְאֶשְׁמְרָ֖ה תוֹרָתְךָ֥ תָמִ֗יד לְעוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃ | 44 |
So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
| וְאֶתְהַלְּכָ֥ה בָרְחָבָ֑ה כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי׃ | 45 |
And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
| וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה בְ֭עֵדֹתֶיךָ נֶ֥גֶד מְלָכִ֗ים וְלֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃ | 46 |
I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
| וְאֶשְׁתַּֽעֲשַׁ֥ע בְּמִצְוֹתֶ֗יךָ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָהָֽבְתִּי׃ | 47 |
And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
| וְאֶשָּֽׂא־כַפַּ֗י אֶֽל־מִ֭צְוֹתֶיךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהָ֗בְתִּי וְאָשִׂ֥יחָה בְחֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 48 |
My hands also will I lift to thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.
| זְכֹר־דָּבָ֥ר לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ עַ֝֗ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִֽחַלְתָּֽנִי׃ | 49 |
ZAIN. Remember the word to thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
| זֹ֣את נֶחָמָתִ֣י בְעָנְיִ֑י כִּ֖י אִמְרָתְךָ֣ חִיָּֽתְנִי׃ | 50 |
This [is] my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath revived me.
| זֵ֭דִים הֱלִיצֻ֣נִי עַד־מְאֹ֑ד מִ֝תּֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א נָטִֽיתִי׃ | 51 |
The proud have had me greatly in derision: [yet] I have not declined from thy law.
| זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖יךָ מֵעוֹלָ֥ם ׀ יְהוָ֗ה וָֽאֶתְנֶחָֽם׃ | 52 |
I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
| זַלְעָפָ֣ה אֲ֭חָזַתְנִי מֵרְשָׁעִ֑ים עֹ֝זְבֵ֗י תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 53 |
Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.
| זְ֭מִרוֹת הָֽיוּ־לִ֥י חֻקֶּ֗יךָ בְּבֵ֣ית מְגוּרָֽי׃ | 54 |
Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
| זָ֘כַ֤רְתִּי בַלַּ֣יְלָה שִׁמְךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה וָֽ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 55 |
I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.
| זֹ֥את הָֽיְתָה־לִּ֑י כִּ֖י פִקֻּדֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ | 56 |
This I had, because I kept thy precepts.
| חֶלְקִ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אָמַ֗רְתִּי לִשְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽיךָ׃ | 57 |
CHETH. [Thou art] my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.
| חִלִּ֣יתִי פָנֶ֣יךָ בְכָל־לֵ֑ב חָ֝נֵּ֗נִי כְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 58 |
I entreated thy favor with [my] whole heart: be merciful to me according to thy word.
| חִשַּׁ֥בְתִּי דְרָכָ֑י וָאָשִׁ֥יבָה רַ֝גְלַ֗י אֶל־עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 59 |
I thought on my ways, and turned my feet to thy testimonies.
| חַ֭שְׁתִּי וְלֹ֣א הִתְמַהְמָ֑הְתִּי לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 60 |
I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
| חֶבְלֵ֣י רְשָׁעִ֣ים עִוְּדֻ֑נִי תּֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ | 61 |
The bands of the wicked have robbed me: [but] I have not forgotten thy law.
| חֲצֽוֹת־לַ֗יְלָה אָ֭קוּם לְהוֹד֣וֹת לָ֑ךְ עַ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ | 62 |
At midnight I will rise to give thanks to thee, because of thy righteous judgments.
| חָבֵ֣ר אָ֭נִי לְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר יְרֵא֑וּךָ וּ֝לְשֹׁמְרֵ֗י פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ | 63 |
I [am] a companion of all [them] that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
| חַסְדְּךָ֣ יְ֭הוָה מָלְאָ֥ה הָאָ֗רֶץ חֻקֶּ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ | 64 |
The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.
| ט֭וֹב עָשִׂ֣יתָ עִֽם־עַבְדְּךָ֑ יְ֝הוָ֗ה כִּדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 65 |
TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according to thy word.
| ט֤וּב טַ֣עַם וָדַ֣עַת לַמְּדֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י בְמִצְוֹתֶ֣יךָ הֶאֱמָֽנְתִּי׃ | 66 |
Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
| טֶ֣רֶם אֶ֭עֱנֶה אֲנִ֣י שֹׁגֵ֑ג וְ֝עַתָּ֗ה אִמְרָתְךָ֥ שָׁמָֽרְתִּי׃ | 67 |
Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
| טוֹב־אַתָּ֥ה וּמֵטִ֗יב לַמְּדֵ֥נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 68 |
Thou [art] good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
| טָפְל֬וּ עָלַ֣י שֶׁ֣קֶר זֵדִ֑ים אֲ֝נִ֗י בְּכָל־לֵ֤ב ׀ אֱצֹּ֬ר פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ | 69 |
The proud have forged a lie against me: [but] I will keep thy precepts with [my] whole heart.
| טָפַ֣שׁ כַּחֵ֣לֶב לִבָּ֑ם אֲ֝נִ֗י תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ שִֽׁעֲשָֽׁעְתִּי׃ | 70 |
Their heart is as gross as fat; [but] I delight in thy law.
| טֽוֹב־לִ֥י כִֽי־עֻנֵּ֑יתִי לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶלְמַ֥ד חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 71 |
[It is] good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
| טֽוֹב־לִ֥י תֽוֹרַת־פִּ֑יךָ מֵ֝אַלְפֵ֗י זָהָ֥ב וָכָֽסֶף׃ | 72 |
The law of thy mouth [is] better to me than thousands of gold and silver.
| יָדֶ֣יךָ עָ֭שׂוּנִי וַֽיְכוֹנְנ֑וּנִי הֲ֝בִינֵ֗נִי וְאֶלְמְדָ֥ה מִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 73 |
JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.
| יְ֭רֵאֶיךָ יִרְא֣וּנִי וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ כִּ֖י לִדְבָרְךָ֣ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ | 74 |
They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.
| יָדַ֣עְתִּי יְ֭הוָה כִּי־צֶ֣דֶק מִשְׁפָּטֶ֑יךָ וֶ֝אֱמוּנָ֗ה עִנִּיתָֽנִי׃ | 75 |
I know, O LORD, that thy judgments [are] right, and [that] thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.
| יְהִי־נָ֣א חַסְדְּךָ֣ לְנַחֲמֵ֑נִי כְּאִמְרָתְךָ֥ לְעַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ | 76 |
Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word to thy servant.
| יְבֹא֣וּנִי רַחֲמֶ֣יךָ וְאֶֽחְיֶ֑ה כִּי־תֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ שַֽׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃ | 77 |
Let thy tender mercies come to me, that I may live: for thy law [is] my delight.
| יֵבֹ֣שׁוּ זֵ֭דִים כִּי־שֶׁ֣קֶר עִוְּת֑וּנִי אֲ֝נִ֗י אָשִׂ֥יחַ בְּפִקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ | 78 |
Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: [but] I will meditate in thy precepts.
| יָשׁ֣וּבוּ לִ֣י יְרֵאֶ֑יךָ וְ֝יֹדְעֵ֗י עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 79 |
Let those that fear thee turn to me, and those that have known thy testimonies.
| יְהִֽי־לִבִּ֣י תָמִ֣ים בְּחֻקֶּ֑יךָ לְ֝מַ֗עַן לֹ֣א אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃ | 80 |
Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I may not be ashamed.
| כָּלְתָ֣ה לִתְשׁוּעָתְךָ֣ נַפְשִׁ֑י לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ | 81 |
CAPH. My soul fainteth for thy salvation: [but] I hope in thy word.
| כָּל֣וּ עֵ֭ינַי לְאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ לֵ֝אמֹ֗ר מָתַ֥י תְּֽנַחֲמֵֽנִי׃ | 82 |
My eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?
| כִּֽי־הָ֭יִיתִי כְּנֹ֣אד בְּקִיט֑וֹר חֻ֝קֶּ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ | 83 |
For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; [yet] I do not forget thy statutes.
| כַּמָּ֥ה יְמֵֽי־עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ מָתַ֬י תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה בְרֹדְפַ֣י מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ | 84 |
How many [are] the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?
| כָּֽרוּ־לִ֣י זֵדִ֣ים שִׁיח֑וֹת אֲ֝שֶׁ֗ר לֹ֣א כְתוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 85 |
The proud have digged pits for me, which [are] not according to thy law.
| כָּל־מִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ אֱמוּנָ֑ה שֶׁ֖קֶר רְדָפ֣וּנִי עָזְרֵֽנִי׃ | 86 |
All thy commandments [are] faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.
| כִּ֭מְעַט כִּלּ֣וּנִי בָאָ֑רֶץ וַ֝אֲנִ֗י לֹא־עָזַ֥בְתִּי פִקֻּודֶֽיךָ׃ | 87 |
They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.
| כְּחַסְדְּךָ֥ חַיֵּ֑נִי וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה עֵד֥וּת פִּֽיךָ׃ | 88 |
Revive me after thy loving-kindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.
| לְעוֹלָ֥ם יְהוָ֑ה דְּ֝בָרְךָ֗ נִצָּ֥ב בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ | 89 |
LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
| לְדֹ֣ר וָ֭דֹר אֱמֽוּנָתֶ֑ךָ כּוֹנַ֥נְתָּ אֶ֝֗רֶץ וַֽתַּעֲמֹֽד׃ | 90 |
Thy faithfulness [is] to all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
| לְֽ֭מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ עָמְד֣וּ הַיּ֑וֹם כִּ֖י הַכֹּ֣ל עֲבָדֶֽיךָ׃ | 91 |
They continue this day according to thy ordinances: for all [are] thy servants.
| לוּלֵ֣י ת֭וֹרָתְךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָ֑י אָ֝֗ז אָבַ֥דְתִּי בְעָנְיִֽי׃ | 92 |
Unless thy law [had been] my delights, I should then have perished in my affliction.
| לְ֭עוֹלָם לֹא־אֶשְׁכַּ֣ח פִּקּוּדֶ֑יךָ כִּ֥י בָ֝֗ם חִיִּיתָֽנִי׃ | 93 |
I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast revived me.
| לְֽךָ־אֲ֭נִי הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ דָרָֽשְׁתִּי׃ | 94 |
I [am] thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.
| לִ֤י קִוּ֣וּ רְשָׁעִ֣ים לְאַבְּדֵ֑נִי עֵ֝דֹתֶ֗יךָ אֶתְבּוֹנָֽן׃ | 95 |
The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: [but] I will consider thy testimonies.
| לְֽכָל תִּ֭כְלָה רָאִ֣יתִי קֵ֑ץ רְחָבָ֖ה מִצְוָתְךָ֣ מְאֹֽד׃ | 96 |
I have seen an end of all perfection: [but] thy commandment [is] exceeding broad.
| מָֽה־אָהַ֥בְתִּי תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ כָּל־הַ֝יּ֗וֹם הִ֣יא שִׂיחָתִֽי׃ | 97 |
MEM. O how I love thy law! it [is] my meditation all the day.
| מֵ֭אֹ֣יְבַי תְּחַכְּמֵ֣נִי מִצְוֹתֶ֑ךָ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם הִיא־לִֽי׃ | 98 |
Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than my enemies: for they [are] ever with me.
| מִכָּל־מְלַמְּדַ֥י הִשְׂכַּ֑לְתִּי כִּ֥י עֵ֝דְוֹתֶ֗יךָ שִׂ֣יחָה לִֽֿי׃ | 99 |
I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies [are] my (meditation)
| מִזְּקֵנִ֥ים אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ נָצָֽרְתִּי׃ | 100 |
I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
| מִכָּל־אֹ֣רַח רָ֭ע כָּלִ֣אתִי רַגְלָ֑י לְ֝מַ֗עַן אֶשְׁמֹ֥ר דְּבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 101 |
I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.
| מִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ לֹא־סָ֑רְתִּי כִּֽי־אַ֝תָּ֗ה הוֹרֵתָֽנִי׃ | 102 |
I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.
| מַה־נִּמְלְצ֣וּ לְ֭חִכִּי אִמְרָתֶ֗ךָ מִדְּבַ֥שׁ לְפִֽי׃ | 103 |
How sweet are thy words to my taste! [yes, sweeter] than honey to my mouth!
| מִפִּקּוּדֶ֥יךָ אֶתְבּוֹנָ֑ן עַל־כֵּ֝֗ן שָׂנֵ֤אתִי ׀ כָּל־אֹ֬רַח שָֽׁקֶר׃ | 104 |
Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
| נֵר־לְרַגְלִ֥י דְבָרֶ֑ךָ וְ֝א֗וֹר לִנְתִיבָתִֽי׃ | 105 |
NUN. Thy word [is] a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.
| נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתִּי וָאֲקַיֵּ֑מָה לִ֝שְׁמֹ֗ר מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ | 106 |
I have sworn, and I will perform [it], that I will keep thy righteous judgments.
| נַעֲנֵ֥יתִי עַד־מְאֹ֑ד יְ֝הוָ֗ה חַיֵּ֥נִי כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃ | 107 |
I am afflicted very much: revive me, O LORD, according to thy word.
| נִדְב֣וֹת פִּ֭י רְצֵה־נָ֣א יְהוָ֑ה וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ | 108 |
Accept, I beseech thee, the free-will-offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments.
| נַפְשִׁ֣י בְכַפִּ֣י תָמִ֑יד וְ֝תֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ | 109 |
My soul [is] continually in my hand: yet I do not forget thy law.
| נָתְנ֬וּ רְשָׁעִ֣ים פַּ֣ח לִ֑י וּ֝מִפִּקּוּדֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א תָעִֽיתִי׃ | 110 |
The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
| נָחַ֣לְתִּי עֵדְוֹתֶ֣יךָ לְעוֹלָ֑ם כִּֽי־שְׂשׂ֖וֹן לִבִּ֣י הֵֽמָּה׃ | 111 |
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they [are] the rejoicing of my heart.
| נָטִ֣יתִי לִ֭בִּי לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת חֻקֶּ֗יךָ לְעוֹלָ֥ם עֵֽקֶב׃ | 112 |
I have inclined my heart to perform thy statutes always, [even to] the end.
| סֵעֲפִ֥ים שָׂנֵ֑אתִי וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ אָהָֽבְתִּי׃ | 113 |
SAMECH. I hate [vain] thoughts: but thy law do I love.
| סִתְרִ֣י וּמָגִנִּ֣י אָ֑תָּה לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ | 114 |
Thou [art] my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
| סֽוּרוּ־מִמֶּ֥נִּי מְרֵעִ֑ים וְ֝אֶצְּרָ֗ה מִצְוֹ֥ת אֱלֹהָֽי׃ | 115 |
Depart from me, ye evil-doers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.
| סָמְכֵ֣נִי כְאִמְרָתְךָ֣ וְאֶֽחְיֶ֑ה וְאַל־תְּ֝בִישֵׁ֗נִי מִשִּׂבְרִֽי׃ | 116 |
Uphold me according to thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
| סְעָדֵ֥נִי וְאִוָּשֵׁ֑עָה וְאֶשְׁעָ֖ה בְחֻקֶּ֣יךָ תָמִֽיד׃ | 117 |
Support me, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect to thy statutes continually.
| סָ֭לִיתָ כָּל־שׁוֹגִ֣ים מֵחֻקֶּ֑יךָ כִּי־שֶׁ֝֗קֶר תַּרְמִיתָֽם׃ | 118 |
Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit is falsehood.
| סִגִ֗ים הִשְׁבַּ֥תָּ כָל־רִשְׁעֵי־אָ֑רֶץ לָ֝כֵ֗ן אָהַ֥בְתִּי עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 119 |
Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth [like] dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.
| סָמַ֣ר מִפַּחְדְּךָ֣ בְשָׂרִ֑י וּֽמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ יָרֵֽאתִי׃ | 120 |
My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
| עָ֭שִׂיתִי מִשְׁפָּ֣ט וָצֶ֑דֶק בַּל־תַּ֝נִּיחֵ֗נִי לְעֹֽשְׁקָֽי׃ | 121 |
AIN. I have done judgment and justice; leave me not to my oppressors.
| עֲרֹ֣ב עַבְדְּךָ֣ לְט֑וֹב אַֽל־יַעַשְׁקֻ֥נִי זֵדִֽים׃ | 122 |
Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.
| עֵ֭ינַי כָּל֣וּ לִֽישׁוּעָתֶ֑ךָ וּלְאִמְרַ֥ת צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ | 123 |
My eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.
| עֲשֵׂ֖ה עִם־עַבְדְּךָ֥ כְחַסְדֶּ֗ךָ וְחֻקֶּ֥יךָ לַמְּדֵֽנִי׃ | 124 |
Deal with thy servant according to thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
| עַבְדְּךָ־אָ֥נִי הֲבִינֵ֑נִי וְ֝אֵדְעָ֗ה עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 125 |
I [am] thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.
| עֵ֭ת לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לַיהוָ֑ה הֵ֝פֵ֗רוּ תּוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 126 |
[It is] time for [thee], LORD, to work: [for] they have made void thy law.
| עַל־כֵּ֭ן אָהַ֣בְתִּי מִצְוֹתֶ֑יךָ מִזָּהָ֥ב וּמִפָּֽז׃ | 127 |
Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold.
| עַל־כֵּ֤ן ׀ כָּל־פִּקּ֣וּדֵי כֹ֣ל יִשָּׁ֑רְתִּי כָּל־אֹ֖רַח שֶׁ֣קֶר שָׂנֵֽאתִי׃ | 128 |
Therefore I esteem all [thy] precepts [concerning] all [things to be] right; [and] I hate every false way.
| פְּלָא֥וֹת עֵדְוֹתֶ֑יךָ עַל־כֵּ֝֗ן נְצָרָ֥תַם נַפְשִֽׁי׃ | 129 |
PE. Thy testimonies [are] wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
| פֵּ֖תַח דְּבָרֶ֥יךָ יָאִ֗יר מֵבִ֥ין פְּתָיִֽים׃ | 130 |
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding to the simple.
| פִּֽי־פָ֭עַרְתִּי וָאֶשְׁאָ֑פָה כִּ֖י לְמִצְוֹתֶ֣יךָ יָאָֽבְתִּי׃ | 131 |
I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.
| פְּנֵה־אֵלַ֥י וְחָנֵּ֑נִי כְּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט לְאֹהֲבֵ֥י שְׁמֶֽךָ׃ | 132 |
Look thou upon me, and be merciful to me, as thou usest to do to those that love thy name.
| פְּ֭עָמַי הָכֵ֣ן בְּאִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ וְֽאַל־תַּשְׁלֶט־בִּ֥י כָל־אָֽוֶן׃ | 133 |
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
| פְּ֭דֵנִי מֵעֹ֣שֶׁק אָדָ֑ם וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה פִּקּוּדֶֽיךָ׃ | 134 |
Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.
| פָּ֭נֶיךָ הָאֵ֣ר בְּעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝לַמְּדֵ֗נִי אֶת־חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 135 |
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: and teach me thy statutes.
| פַּלְגֵי־מַ֭יִם יָרְד֣וּ עֵינָ֑י עַ֝֗ל לֹא־שָׁמְר֥וּ תוֹרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 136 |
Rivers of waters run down my eyes, because they keep not thy law.
| צַדִּ֣יק אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝יָשָׁ֗ר מִשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃ | 137 |
TSADDI. Righteous [art] thou, O LORD, and upright [are] thy judgments.
| צִ֭וִּיתָ צֶ֣דֶק עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ וֶֽאֱמוּנָ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ | 138 |
Thy testimonies [that] thou hast commanded [are] righteous and very faithful.
| צִמְּתַ֥תְנִי קִנְאָתִ֑י כִּֽי־שָׁכְח֖וּ דְבָרֶ֣יךָ צָרָֽי׃ | 139 |
My zeal hath consumed me; because my enemies have forgotten thy words.
| צְרוּפָ֖ה אִמְרָתְךָ֥ מְאֹ֗ד וְֽעַבְדְּךָ֥ אֲהֵבָֽהּ׃ | 140 |
Thy word [is] very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.
| צָעִ֣יר אָנֹכִ֣י וְנִבְזֶ֑ה פִּ֝קֻּדֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ | 141 |
I [am] small and despised: [yet] I do not forget thy precepts.
| צִדְקָתְךָ֣ צֶ֣דֶק לְעוֹלָ֑ם וְֽתוֹרָתְךָ֥ אֱמֶֽת׃ | 142 |
Thy righteousness [is] an everlasting righteousness, and thy law [is] the truth.
| צַר־וּמָצ֥וֹק מְצָא֑וּנִי מִ֝צְוֹתֶ֗יךָ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃ | 143 |
Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: [yet] thy commandments [are] my delights.
| צֶ֖דֶק עֵדְוֹתֶ֥יךָ לְעוֹלָ֗ם הֲבִינֵ֥נִי וְאֶחְיֶֽה׃ | 144 |
The righteousness of thy testimonies [is] everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
| קָרָ֣אתִי בְכָל־לֵ֭ב עֲנֵ֥נִי יְהוָ֗ה חֻקֶּ֥יךָ אֶצֹּֽרָה׃ | 145 |
KOPH. I cried with [my] whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes.
| קְרָאתִ֥יךָ הוֹשִׁיעֵ֑נִי וְ֝אֶשְׁמְרָ֗ה עֵדֹתֶֽיךָ׃ | 146 |
I cried to thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies.
| קִדַּ֣מְתִּי בַ֭נֶּשֶׁף וָאֲשַׁוֵּ֑עָה לִדְבָרְךָ֥ יִחָֽלְתִּי׃ | 147 |
I came before the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.
| קִדְּמ֣וּ עֵ֭ינַי אַשְׁמֻר֑וֹת לָ֝שִׂ֗יחַ בְּאִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃ | 148 |
My eyes anticipated the [night] watches, that I might meditate in thy word.
| ק֭וֹלִי שִׁמְעָ֣ה כְחַסְדֶּ֑ךָ יְ֝הוָ֗ה כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ | 149 |
Hear my voice, according to thy loving-kindness: O LORD, revive me according to thy judgment.
| קָ֭רְבוּ רֹדְפֵ֣י זִמָּ֑ה מִתּוֹרָתְךָ֥ רָחָֽקוּ׃ | 150 |
They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law.
| קָר֣וֹב אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה וְֽכָל־מִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ אֱמֶֽת׃ | 151 |
Thou [art] near, O LORD; and all thy commandments [are] truth.
| קֶ֣דֶם יָ֭דַעְתִּי מֵעֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם יְסַדְתָּֽם׃ | 152 |
Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever.
| רְאֵֽה־עָנְיִ֥י וְחַלְּצֵ֑נִי כִּי־תֽ֝וֹרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ | 153 |
RESH. Consider my affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law.
| רִיבָ֣ה רִ֭יבִי וּגְאָלֵ֑נִי לְאִמְרָתְךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ | 154 |
Plead my cause, and deliver me: revive me according to thy word.
| רָח֣וֹק מֵרְשָׁעִ֣ים יְשׁוּעָ֑ה כִּֽי־חֻ֝קֶּיךָ לֹ֣א דָרָֽשׁוּ׃ | 155 |
Salvation [is] far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.
| רַחֲמֶ֖יךָ רַבִּ֥ים ׀ יְהוָ֑ה כְּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥יךָ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ | 156 |
Great [are] thy tender mercies, O LORD: revive me according to thy judgments.
| רַ֭בִּים רֹדְפַ֣י וְצָרָ֑י מֵ֝עֵדְוֹתֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א נָטִֽיתִי׃ | 157 |
Many [are] my persecutors and my enemies; [yet] I do not decline from thy testimonies.
| רָאִ֣יתִי בֹ֭גְדִים וָֽאֶתְקוֹטָ֑טָה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִ֝מְרָתְךָ֗ לֹ֣א שָׁמָֽרוּ׃ | 158 |
I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word.
| רְ֭אֵה כִּי־פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ אָהָ֑בְתִּי יְ֝הוָ֗ה כְּֽחַסְדְּךָ֥ חַיֵּֽנִי׃ | 159 |
Consider how I love thy precepts: revive me, O LORD, according to thy loving-kindness.
| רֹאשׁ־דְּבָרְךָ֥ אֱמֶ֑ת וּ֝לְעוֹלָ֗ם כָּל־מִשְׁפַּ֥ט צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ | 160 |
Thy word [is] true [from] the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments [endureth] for ever.
| שָׂ֭רִים רְדָפ֣וּנִי חִנָּ֑ם וּ֝מִדְּבָרְךָ֗ פָּחַ֥ד לִבִּֽי׃ | 161 |
SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause; but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
| שָׂ֣שׂ אָ֭נֹכִֽי עַל־אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ כְּ֝מוֹצֵ֗א שָׁלָ֥ל רָֽב׃ | 162 |
I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
| שֶׁ֣קֶר שָׂ֭נֵאתִי וַאֲתַעֵ֑בָה תּוֹרָתְךָ֥ אָהָֽבְתִּי׃ | 163 |
I hate and abhor lying: [but] thy law do I love.
| שֶׁ֣בַע בַּ֭יּוֹם הִלַּלְתִּ֑יךָ עַ֝֗ל מִשְׁפְּטֵ֥י צִדְקֶֽךָ׃ | 164 |
Seven times a day do I praise thee, because of thy righteous judgments.
| שָׁל֣וֹם רָ֭ב לְאֹהֲבֵ֣י תוֹרָתֶ֑ךָ וְאֵֽין־לָ֥מוֹ מִכְשֽׁוֹל׃ | 165 |
Great peace have they who love thy law: and nothing shall cause them to stumble.
| שִׂבַּ֣רְתִּי לִֽישׁוּעָתְךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה וּֽמִצְוֹתֶ֥יךָ עָשִֽׂיתִי׃ | 166 |
LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and performed thy commandments.
| שָֽׁמְרָ֣ה נַ֭פְשִׁי עֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ וָאֹהֲבֵ֥ם מְאֹֽד׃ | 167 |
My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.
| שָׁמַ֣רְתִּי פִ֭קּוּדֶיךָ וְעֵדֹתֶ֑יךָ כִּ֖י כָל־דְּרָכַ֣י נֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃ | 168 |
I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways [are] before thee.
| תִּקְרַ֤ב רִנָּתִ֣י לְפָנֶ֣יךָ יְהוָ֑ה כִּדְבָרְךָ֥ הֲבִינֵֽנִי׃ | 169 |
TAU. Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.
| תָּב֣וֹא תְּחִנָּתִ֣י לְפָנֶ֑יךָ כְּ֝אִמְרָתְךָ֗ הַצִּילֵֽנִי׃ | 170 |
Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.
| תַּבַּ֣עְנָה שְׂפָתַ֣י תְּהִלָּ֑ה כִּ֖י תְלַמְּדֵ֣נִי חֻקֶּֽיךָ׃ | 171 |
My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
| תַּ֣עַן לְ֭שׁוֹנִי אִמְרָתֶ֑ךָ כִּ֖י כָל־מִצְוֹתֶ֣יךָ צֶּֽדֶק׃ | 172 |
My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments [are] righteousness.
| תְּהִֽי־יָדְךָ֥ לְעָזְרֵ֑נִי כִּ֖י פִקּוּדֶ֣יךָ בָחָֽרְתִּי׃ | 173 |
Let thy hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
| תָּאַ֣בְתִּי לִֽישׁוּעָתְךָ֣ יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝תֽוֹרָתְךָ֗ שַׁעֲשֻׁעָֽי׃ | 174 |
I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law [is] my delight.
| תְּֽחִי־נַ֭פְשִׁי וּֽתְהַֽלְלֶ֑ךָּ וּֽמִשְׁפָּטֶ֥ךָ יַעֲזְרֻֽנִי׃ | 175 |
Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.
| תָּעִ֗יתִי כְּשֶׂ֣ה אֹ֭בֵד בַּקֵּ֣שׁ עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י מִ֝צְוֹתֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א שָׁכָֽחְתִּי׃ | 176 |
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.
