מִשְׁלֵי 13

1 בֵּ֣ן חָ֭כָם מ֣וּסַר אָ֑ב וְ֝לֵ֗ץ לֹא־שָׁמַ֥ע גְּעָרָֽה׃

A son wise [the] discipline of a father and a mocker not he listens to a rebuke.

2 מִפְּרִ֣י פִי־אִ֭ישׁ יֹ֣אכַל ט֑וֹב וְנֶ֖פֶשׁ בֹּגְדִ֣ים חָמָֽס׃

From [the] fruit of [the] mouth of a person he eats good thing[s] and [the] appetite of treacherous [people] [is] violence.

3 נֹצֵ֣ר פִּ֭יו שֹׁמֵ֣ר נַפְשׁ֑וֹ פֹּשֵׂ֥ק שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו מְחִתָּה־לֽוֹ׃

[one who] guards Mouth his [is] protecting life his [one who] opens lips his ruin [belongs] to him.

4 מִתְאַוָּ֣ה וָ֭אַיִן נַפְשׁ֣וֹ עָצֵ֑ל וְנֶ֖פֶשׁ חָרֻצִ֣ים תְּדֻשָּֽׁן׃

[is] coveting And nothing appetite his a sluggard and [the] appetite of diligent [people] it will be made fat.

5 דְּבַר־שֶׁ֭קֶר יִשְׂנָ֣א צַדִּ֑יק וְ֝רָשָׁ֗ע יַבְאִ֥ישׁ וְיַחְפִּֽיר׃

A word of falsehood he hates a righteous [person] and a wicked [person] he acts odiously and he may act shamefully.

6 צְ֭דָקָה תִּצֹּ֣ר תָּם־דָּ֑רֶךְ וְ֝רִשְׁעָ֗ה תְּסַלֵּ֥ף חַטָּֽאת׃

Righteousness it preserves integrity of way and wickedness it subverts sin.

7 יֵ֣שׁ מִ֭תְעַשֵּׁר וְאֵ֣ין כֹּ֑ל מִ֝תְרוֹשֵׁ֗שׁ וְה֣וֹן רָֽב׃

There [is one who] enriches himself and there not [is] anything [one who] impoverishes himself and wealth great.

8 כֹּ֣פֶר נֶֽפֶשׁ־אִ֣ישׁ עָשְׁר֑וֹ וְ֝רָ֗שׁ לֹא־שָׁמַ֥ע גְּעָרָֽה׃

[the] ransom of [the] life of A person [is] wealth his and a poor [person] not he hears a threat.

9 אוֹר־צַדִּיקִ֥ים יִשְׂמָ֑ח וְנֵ֖ר רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִדְעָֽךְ׃

[the] light of Righteous [people] it rejoices and [the] lamp of wicked [people] it is extinguished.

10 רַק־בְּ֭זָדוֹן יִתֵּ֣ן מַצָּ֑ה וְאֶת־נ֖וֹעָצִ֣ים חָכְמָֽה׃

Only with pride it gives contention and [is] with [those who] receive advice wisdom.

11 ה֭וֹן מֵהֶ֣בֶל יִמְעָ֑ט וְקֹבֵ֖ץ עַל־יָ֣ד יַרְבֶּֽה׃

Wealth from vanity it will become small and [one who] gathers on hand he will increase.

12 תּוֹחֶ֣לֶת מְ֭מֻשָּׁכָה מַחֲלָה־לֵ֑ב וְעֵ֥ץ חַ֝יִּ֗ים תַּאֲוָ֥ה בָאָֽה׃

Hope deferred [is] making sick [the] heart and [is] a tree of life a desire [which] comes.

13 בָּ֣ז לְ֭דָבָר יֵחָ֣בֶל ל֑וֹ וִירֵ֥א מִ֝צְוָ֗ה ה֣וּא יְשֻׁלָּֽם׃

[one who] despises A word he will be pledged to it and [one] fearing a commandment he he will be rewarded.

14 תּוֹרַ֣ת חָ֭כָם מְק֣וֹר חַיִּ֑ים לָ֝ס֗וּר מִמֹּ֥קְשֵׁי מָֽוֶת׃

[the] instruction of A wise [person] [is] a fountain of life to turn aside from [the] snares of death.

15 שֵֽׂכֶל־ט֭וֹב יִתֶּן־חֵ֑ן וְדֶ֖רֶךְ בֹּגְדִ֣ים אֵיתָֽן׃

Insight good it gives favor and [the] way of treacherous [people] [is] enduring.

16 כָּל־עָ֭רוּם יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה בְדָ֑עַת וּ֝כְסִ֗יל יִפְרֹ֥שׂ אִוֶּֽלֶת׃

Every sensible [person] he acts with knowledge and a fool he spreads out foolishness.

17 מַלְאָ֣ךְ רָ֭שָׁע יִפֹּ֣ל בְּרָ֑ע וְצִ֖יר אֱמוּנִ֣ים מַרְפֵּֽא׃

A messenger wicked he falls in trouble and an envoy of faithfulness [is] healing.

18 רֵ֣ישׁ וְ֭קָלוֹן פּוֹרֵ֣עַ מוּסָ֑ר וְשׁוֹמֵ֖ר תּוֹכַ֣חַת יְכֻבָּֽד׃

Poverty and shame [one who] ignores discipline and [one who] keeps correction he is honored.

19 תַּאֲוָ֣ה נִ֭הְיָה תֶּעֱרַ֣ב לְנָ֑פֶשׁ וְתוֹעֲבַ֥ת כְּ֝סִילִ֗ים ס֣וּר מֵרָֽע׃

A desire done (is pleasing *LAH(b)*) to a person and [is] an abomination of fools to turn aside from evil.

20 הוֹלֵ֣ךְ אֶת־חֲכָמִ֣ים יֶחְכָּ֑ם וְרֹעֶ֖ה כְסִילִ֣ים יֵרֽוֹעַ׃

([one who] walks *Q(K)*) With wise [people] (he will become wise *Q(K)*) and [one who] associates with fools he will be harmed.

21 חַ֭טָּאִים תְּרַדֵּ֣ף רָעָ֑ה וְאֶת־צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים יְשַׁלֶּם־טֽוֹב׃

Sinners it pursues calamity and righteous [people] it rewards good.

22 ט֗וֹב יַנְחִ֥יל בְּנֵֽי־בָנִ֑ים וְצָפ֥וּן לַ֝צַּדִּ֗יק חֵ֣יל חוֹטֵֽא׃

A good [person] he leaves an inheritance to children of children and [is] stored up for the righteous [the] wealth of a sinner.

23 רָב־אֹ֭כֶל נִ֣יר רָאשִׁ֑ים וְיֵ֥שׁ נִ֝סְפֶּ֗ה בְּלֹ֣א מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

Abundance of food [the] unplowed ground of poor [people] and there [is what] is swept away in not justice.

24 חוֹשֵׂ֣ךְ שִׁ֭בְטוֹ שׂוֹנֵ֣א בְנ֑וֹ וְ֝אֹהֲב֗וֹ שִֽׁחֲר֥וֹ מוּסָֽר׃

[one who] restrains Rod his [is] hating son his and [one who] loves him he seeks early him discipline.

25 צַדִּ֗יק אֹ֭כֵל לְשֹׂ֣בַע נַפְשׁ֑וֹ וּבֶ֖טֶן רְשָׁעִ֣ים תֶּחְסָֽר׃ פ

A righteous [person] [is] eating to [the] satiety of appetite his and [the] belly of wicked [people] it is lacking.
