אֵיכָה 5
| זְכֹ֤ר יְהוָה֙ מֶֽה־הָ֣יָה לָ֔נוּ הַבִּ֖יטָה וּרְאֵ֥ה אֶת־חֶרְפָּתֵֽנוּ׃ | 1 |
Remember, O Jehovah, what is come upon us! Look down and behold our reproach!
| נַחֲלָתֵ֙נוּ֙ נֶֽהֶפְכָ֣ה לְזָרִ֔ים בָּתֵּ֖ינוּ לְנָכְרִֽים׃ | 2 |
Our inheritance is fallen to strangers, Our houses to aliens.
| יְתוֹמִ֤ים הָיִ֙ינוּ֙ וְאֵ֣ין אָ֔ב אִמֹּתֵ֖ינוּ כְּאַלְמָנֽוֹת׃ | 3 |
We are orphans; we are without a father; Our mothers are as widows.
| מֵימֵ֙ינוּ֙ בְּכֶ֣סֶף שָׁתִ֔ינוּ עֵצֵ֖ינוּ בִּמְחִ֥יר יָבֹֽאוּ׃ | 4 |
Our water we drink for money; Our wood is sold to us.
| עַ֤ל צַוָּארֵ֙נוּ֙ נִרְדָּ֔פְנוּ יָגַ֖עְנוּ וְלֹ֥א הֽוּנַֽח לָֽנוּ׃ | 5 |
With the yoke upon our necks, we are driven; We are wearied, and have no rest.
| מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ נָתַ֣נּוּ יָ֔ד אַשּׁ֖וּר לִשְׂבֹּ֥עַֽ לָֽחֶם׃ | 6 |
We have given the hand to the Egyptians, And to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.
| אֲבֹתֵ֤ינוּ חָֽטְאוּ֙ וְאֵינָ֔ם וַאֲנַ֖חְנוּ עֲוֹנֹתֵיהֶ֥ם סָבָֽלְנוּ׃ | 7 |
Our fathers sinned; they are no more, And we bear their iniquities.
| עֲבָדִים֙ מָ֣שְׁלוּ בָ֔נוּ פֹּרֵ֖ק אֵ֥ין מִיָּדָֽם׃ | 8 |
Servants rule over us; There is none that delivereth out of their hand.
| בְּנַפְשֵׁ֙נוּ֙ נָבִ֣יא לַחְמֵ֔נוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י חֶ֥רֶב הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ | 9 |
With the peril of our lives we get our bread, Because of the sword of the wilderness.
| עוֹרֵ֙נוּ֙ כְּתַנּ֣וּר נִכְמָ֔רוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י זַלְעֲפ֥וֹת רָעָֽב׃ | 10 |
Our skin is parched like an oven Because of the burnings of hunger.
| נָשִׁים֙ בְּצִיּ֣וֹן עִנּ֔וּ בְּתֻלֹ֖ת בְּעָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃ | 11 |
Matrons in Zion have they ravished, And maidens in the cities of Judah.
| שָׂרִים֙ בְּיָדָ֣ם נִתְל֔וּ פְּנֵ֥י זְקֵנִ֖ים לֹ֥א נֶהְדָּֽרוּ׃ | 12 |
Princes were hanged up by their hand; The faces of the elders were not honored.
| בַּחוּרִים֙ טְח֣וֹן נָשָׂ֔אוּ וּנְעָרִ֖ים בָּעֵ֥ץ כָּשָֽׁלוּ׃ | 13 |
Young men carried millstones, And boys fell under burdens of wood.
| זְקֵנִים֙ מִשַּׁ֣עַר שָׁבָ֔תוּ בַּחוּרִ֖ים מִנְּגִינָתָֽם׃ | 14 |
The elders sit no more at the gate; The young men have ceased from their music.
| שָׁבַת֙ מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ לִבֵּ֔נוּ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ לְאֵ֖בֶל מְחֹלֵֽנוּ׃ | 15 |
The joy of our heart is at an end; Our dancing is turned into mourning.
| נָֽפְלָה֙ עֲטֶ֣רֶת רֹאשֵׁ֔נוּ אֽוֹי־נָ֥א לָ֖נוּ כִּ֥י חָטָֽאנוּ׃ | 16 |
The crown is fallen from our head; Woe unto us, that we have sinned!
| עַל־זֶ֗ה הָיָ֤ה דָוֶה֙ לִבֵּ֔נוּ עַל־אֵ֖לֶּה חָשְׁכ֥וּ עֵינֵֽינוּ׃ | 17 |
For this is our heart faint, For these things our eyes are dim;
| עַ֤ל הַר־צִיּוֹן֙ שֶׁשָּׁמֵ֔ם שׁוּעָלִ֖ים הִלְּכוּ־בֽוֹ׃ פ | 18 |
On account of mount Zion, which is desolate; Foxes roam over it.
| אַתָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לְעוֹלָ֣ם תֵּשֵׁ֔ב כִּסְאֲךָ֖ לְדֹ֥ר וָדֽוֹר׃ | 19 |
But thou, O Jehovah, sittest as king forever; Thy throne endureth from generation to generation.
| לָ֤מָּה לָנֶ֙צַח֙ תִּשְׁכָּחֵ֔נוּ תַּֽעַזְבֵ֖נוּ לְאֹ֥רֶךְ יָמִֽים׃ | 20 |
Wherefore dost thou wholly forget us, And abandon us, for so long a time?
| הֲשִׁיבֵ֨נוּ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ וְֽנָשׁ֔וּבָה חַדֵּ֥שׁ יָמֵ֖ינוּ כְּקֶֽדֶם׃ | 21 |
Turn us again to thee, O Jehovah, that we may be restored! Renew our days as of old!
| כִּ֚י אִם־מָאֹ֣ס מְאַסְתָּ֔נוּ קָצַ֥פְתָּ עָלֵ֖ינוּ עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ | 22 |
For shouldst thou utterly reject us? Shouldst thou be so exceedingly wroth against us?
