תְהִלִּים 85
| לַמְנַצֵּ֬חַ ׀ לִבְנֵי־קֹ֬רַח מִזְמֹֽור׃ רָצִ֣יתָ יְהוָ֣ה אַרְצֶ֑ךָ שַׁ֝֗בְתָּ שְׁבוּת (שְׁבִ֣ית) יַעֲקֹֽב׃ | 1 |
Adonai, you have been favorable to your land. You have restored the fortunes of Jacob [Supplanter].
| נָ֭שָׂאתָ עֲוֹ֣ן עַמֶּ֑ךָ כִּסִּ֖יתָ כָל־חַטָּאתָ֣ם סֶֽלָה׃ | 2 |
You have forgiven the depravity (moral evil) of your people. You have covered all their habitual sin ·missing the mark·. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
| אָסַ֥פְתָּ כָל־עֶבְרָתֶ֑ךָ הֱ֝שִׁיבֹ֗ותָ מֵחֲרֹ֥ון אַפֶּֽךָ׃ | 3 |
You have taken away all your wrath. You have turned from the fierceness of your anger.
| שׁ֭וּבֵנוּ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֑נוּ וְהָפֵ֖ר כַּֽעַסְךָ֣ עִמָּֽנוּ׃ | 4 |
Turn us, God of our yesha' ·salvation·, and cause your indignation toward us to cease.
| הַלְעֹולָ֥ם תֶּֽאֱנַף־בָּ֑נוּ תִּמְשֹׁ֥ךְ אַ֝פְּךָ֗ לְדֹ֣ר וָדֹֽר׃ | 5 |
Will you be angry with us forever? Will you draw out your anger to all generations?
| הֽ͏ֲלֹא־אַ֭תָּה תָּשׁ֣וּב תְּחַיֵּ֑נוּ וְ֝עַמְּךָ֗ יִשְׂמְחוּ־בָֽךְ׃ | 6 |
Won’t you revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
| הַרְאֵ֣נוּ יְהוָ֣ה חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝יֶשְׁעֲךָ֗ תִּתֶּן־לָֽנוּ׃ | 7 |
Show us your chesed ·loving-kindness·, Adonai. Grant us your yesha' ·salvation·.
| אֶשְׁמְעָ֗ה מַה־יְדַבֵּר֮ הָאֵ֪ל ׀ יְה֫וָ֥ה כִּ֤י ׀ יְדַבֵּ֬ר שָׁלֹ֗ום אֶל־עַמֹּ֥ו וְאֶל־חֲסִידָ֑יו וְֽאַל־יָשׁ֥וּבוּ לְכִסְלָֽה׃ | 8 |
I will sh'ma ·hear obey· what God, Adonai, will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, his saints; but let them not turn again to folly.
| אַ֤ךְ ׀ קָרֹ֣וב לִירֵאָ֣יו יִשְׁעֹ֑ו לִשְׁכֹּ֖ן כָּבֹ֣וד בְּאַרְצֵֽנוּ׃ | 9 |
Surely his yesha' ·salvation· is near those who fear him, that kavod ·weighty glory· may dwell in our land.
| חֶֽסֶד־וֶאֱמֶ֥ת נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ צֶ֖דֶק וְשָׁלֹ֣ום נָשָֽׁקוּ׃ | 10 |
Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
| אֱ֭מֶת מֵאֶ֣רֶץ תִּצְמָ֑ח וְ֝צֶ֗דֶק מִשָּׁמַ֥יִם נִשְׁקָֽף׃ | 11 |
Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven.
| גַּם־יְ֭הוָה יִתֵּ֣ן הַטֹּ֑וב וְ֝אַרְצֵ֗נוּ תִּתֵּ֥ן יְבוּלָֽהּ׃ | 12 |
Yes, Adonai will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase.
| צֶ֭דֶק לְפָנָ֣יו יְהַלֵּ֑ךְ וְיָשֵׂ֖ם לְדֶ֣רֶךְ פְּעָמָֽיו׃ | 13 |
Righteousness goes before him, And prepares the way for his steps.
