תְהִלִּים 118

1 הֹוד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה כִּי־טֹ֑וב כִּ֖י לְעֹולָ֣ם חַסְדֹּֽו׃

Yadah ·Extend hands in thankful praise· to Adonai, for he is good, for his chesed ·loving-kindness· endures forever.

2 יֹֽאמַר־נָ֥א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּ֖י לְעֹולָ֣ם חַסְדֹּֽו׃

Let Israel [God prevails] now say that his chesed ·loving-kindness· endures forever.

3 יֹֽאמְרוּ־נָ֥א בֵֽית־אַהֲרֹ֑ן כִּ֖י לְעֹולָ֣ם חַסְדֹּֽו׃

Let the house of Aaron [Light-bringer] now say that his chesed ·loving-kindness· endures forever.

4 יֹֽאמְרוּ־נָ֭א יִרְאֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֖י לְעֹולָ֣ם חַסְדֹּֽו׃

Now let those who fear Adonai say that his chesed ·loving-kindness· endures forever.

5 מִֽן־הַ֭מֵּצַ֥ר קָרָ֣אתִי יָּ֑הּ עָנָ֖נִי בַמֶּרְחָ֣ב יָֽהּ׃

Out of my distress, I called on Yah. Yah answered me with freedom.

6 יְהוָ֣ה לִ֭י לֹ֣א אִירָ֑א מַה־יַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה לִ֣י אָדָֽם׃

With Adonai on my side. I will not be afraid. What can a human being do to me?

7 יְהוָ֣ה לִ֭י בְּעֹזְרָ֑י וַ֝אֲנִ֗י אֶרְאֶ֥ה בְשֹׂנְאָֽי׃

Adonai is on my side among those who help me. Therefore I will look in triumph at those who hate me.

8 טֹ֗וב לַחֲסֹ֥ות בַּיהוָ֑ה מִ֝בְּטֹ֗חַ בָּאָדָֽם׃

It is better to take refuge in Adonai, than to put confidence in man.

9 טֹ֗וב לַחֲסֹ֥ות בַּיהוָ֑ה מִ֝בְּטֹ֗חַ בִּנְדִיבִֽים׃

It is better to take refuge in Adonai, than to put confidence in princes.

10 כָּל־גֹּויִ֥ם סְבָב֑וּנִי בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְ֝הוָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֲמִילַֽם׃

All the nations surrounded me, but in Adonai’s name, I cut them off.

11 סַבּ֥וּנִי גַם־סְבָב֑וּנִי בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְ֝הוָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֲמִילַֽם׃

They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In Adonai’s name I indeed cut them off.

12 סַבּ֤וּנִי כִדְבֹורִ֗ים דֹּ֭עֲכוּ כְּאֵ֣שׁ קֹוצִ֑ים בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְ֝הוָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֲמִילַֽם׃

They surrounded me like bees. They are quenched like the burning thorns. In Adonai’s name I cut them off.

13 דַּחֹ֣ה דְחִיתַ֣נִי לִנְפֹּ֑ל וַ֖יהוָ֣ה עֲזָרָֽנִי׃

You pushed me back hard, to make me fall, but Adonai helped me.

14 עָזִּ֣י וְזִמְרָ֣ת יָ֑הּ וַֽיְהִי־לִ֝֗י לִֽישׁוּעָֽה׃

Yah is my strength and song. He has become my yishu'ah ·salvation·.

15 קֹ֤ול ׀ רִנָּ֬ה וִֽישׁוּעָ֗ה בְּאָהֳלֵ֥י צַדִּיקִ֑ים יְמִ֥ין יְ֝הוָה עֹ֣שָׂה חָֽיִל׃

The voice of rejoicing and yishu'ah ·salvation· is in the tents of the upright. “The right hand of Adonai does valiantly.

16 יְמִ֣ין יְ֭הוָה רֹומֵמָ֑ה יְמִ֥ין יְ֝הוָה עֹ֣שָׂה חָֽיִל׃

The right hand of Adonai is exalted! The right hand of Adonai does valiantly!”

17 לֹֽא אָמ֥וּת כִּי־אֶֽחְיֶ֑ה וַ֝אֲסַפֵּ֗ר מַֽעֲשֵׂ֥י יָֽהּ׃

I will not die, but live, and declare Yah’s works.

18 יַסֹּ֣ר יִסְּרַ֣נִּי יָּ֑הּ וְ֝לַמָּ֗וֶת לֹ֣א נְתָנָֽנִי׃

Yah has punished me severely, but he has not given me over to death.

19 פִּתְחוּ־לִ֥י שַׁעֲרֵי־צֶ֑דֶק אָֽבֹא־בָ֝ם אֹודֶ֥ה יָֽהּ׃

Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them. I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to Yah.

20 זֶֽה־הַשַּׁ֥עַר לַיהוָ֑ה צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים יָבֹ֥אוּ בֹֽו׃

This is the gate of Adonai; the upright will enter into it.

21 אֹ֭ודְךָ כִּ֣י עֲנִיתָ֑נִי וַתְּהִי־לִ֝֗י לִֽישׁוּעָֽה׃

I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you, for you have answered me, and have become my yishu'ah ·salvation·.

22 אֶ֭בֶן מָאֲס֣וּ הַבֹּונִ֑ים הָ֝יְתָ֗ה לְרֹ֣אשׁ פִּנָּֽה׃

The stone which the builders rejected has become the corner-stone.

23 מֵאֵ֣ת יְ֭הוָה הָ֣יְתָה זֹּ֑את הִ֖יא נִפְלָ֣את בְּעֵינֵֽינוּ׃

This is Adonai’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.

24 זֶה־הַ֭יֹּום עָשָׂ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה נָגִ֖ילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָ֣ה בֹֽו׃

This is the day that Adonai has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

25 אָנָּ֣א יְ֭הוָה הֹושִׁ֘יעָ֥ה נָּ֑א אָֽנָּ֥א יְ֝הוָ֗ה הַצְלִ֘יחָ֥ה נָּֽא׃

Save us now, we beg you, Adonai! Adonai, we beg you, send prosperity now.

26 בָּר֣וּךְ הַ֭בָּא בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה בֵּ֝רַֽכְנוּכֶ֗ם מִבֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

Blessed is he who comes in the name of Adonai! We have blessed you out of Adonai’s house.

27 אֵ֤ל ׀ יְהוָה֮ וַיָּ֪אֶר לָ֥נוּ אִסְרוּ־חַ֥ג בַּעֲבֹתִ֑ים עַד־קַ֝רְנֹ֗ות הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

Adonai is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

28 אֵלִ֣י אַתָּ֣ה וְאֹודֶ֑ךָּ אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י אֲרֹומְמֶֽךָּ׃

You are my God, and I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you. You are my God, I will exalt you.

29 הֹוד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה כִּי־טֹ֑וב כִּ֖י לְעֹולָ֣ם חַסְדֹּֽו׃

Oh yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to Adonai, for he is good, for his chesed ·loving-kindness· endures forever.
