| אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רְאוּבֵן שִׁמְעוֹן לֵוִי וִיהוּדָה יִשָּׂשכָר וּזְבֻלֽוּן׃ | 1 |
These are the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun,
| דָּן יוֹסֵף וּבִנְיָמִן נַפְתָּלִי גָּד וְאָשֵֽׁר׃ | 2 |
Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
| בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה עֵר וְאוֹנָן וְשֵׁלָה שְׁלוֹשָׁה נוֹלַד לוֹ מִבַּת־שׁוּעַ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִית וַיְהִי עֵר ׀ בְּכוֹר יְהוּדָה רַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהֹוָה וַיְמִיתֵֽהוּ׃ | 3 |
The sons of Judah: 'Er, and Onan, and Shelah, the three [who] were born unto him of the daughter of Shua' the Canaanitess. And 'Er, the first-born of Judah, was evil in the eyes of the Lord: and he slew him.
| וְתָמָר כַּלָּתוֹ יָלְדָה לּוֹ אֶת־פֶּרֶץ וְאֶת־זָרַח כׇּל־בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה חֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ | 4 |
And Thamar his daughter-in-law bore unto him Perez and Zerach. All the sons of Judah were five.
| בְּנֵי־פֶרֶץ חֶצְרוֹן וְחָמֽוּל׃ | 5 |
The sons of Perez: Chezron and Chamul.
| וּבְנֵי זֶרַח זִמְרִי וְאֵיתָן וְהֵימָן וְכַלְכֹּל וָדָרַע כֻּלָּם חֲמִשָּֽׁה׃ | 6 |
And the sons of Zerach: Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara'; all of them five.
| וּבְנֵי כַּרְמִי עָכָר עוֹכֵר יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר מָעַל בַּחֵֽרֶם׃ | 7 |
And the sons of Carmi: 'Achar the troubler of Israel, who trespassed against the devoted things.
| וּבְנֵי אֵיתָן עֲזַרְיָֽה׃ | 8 |
And the sons of Ethan: 'Azaryah.
| וּבְנֵי חֶצְרוֹן אֲשֶׁר נֽוֹלַד־לוֹ אֶת־יְרַחְמְאֵל וְאֶת־רָם וְאֶת־כְּלוּבָֽי׃ | 9 |
And the sons of Chezron, that were born unto him: Jerachmeel, and Ram, and Kelubai.
| וְרָם הוֹלִיד אֶת־עַמִּֽינָדָב וְעַמִּֽינָדָב הוֹלִיד אֶת־נַחְשׁוֹן נְשִׂיא בְּנֵי יְהוּדָֽה׃ | 10 |
And Ram begat 'Amminadab, and 'Amminadab begat Nachshon, the prince of the children of Judah;
| וְנַחְשׁוֹן הוֹלִיד אֶת־שַׂלְמָא וְשַׂלְמָא הוֹלִיד אֶת־בֹּֽעַז׃ | 11 |
And Nachshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Bo'az,
| וּבֹעַז הוֹלִיד אֶת־עוֹבֵד וְעוֹבֵד הוֹלִיד אֶת־יִשָֽׁי׃ | 12 |
And Bo'az begat 'Obed, and 'Obed begat Jesse,
| וְאִישַׁי הוֹלִיד אֶת־בְּכֹרוֹ אֶת־אֱלִיאָב וַאֲבִֽינָדָב הַשֵּׁנִי וְשִׁמְעָא הַשְּׁלִשִֽׁי׃ | 13 |
And Ishai begat his first-born Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shim'a the third,
| נְתַנְאֵל הָרְבִיעִי רַדַּי הַחֲמִישִֽׁי׃ | 14 |
Nathanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth,
| אֹצֶם הַשִּׁשִּׁי דָּוִיד הַשְּׁבִעִֽי׃ | 15 |
Ozem the sixth, David the seventh;
| וְאַחְיֹתֵיהֶם צְרוּיָה וַאֲבִיגָיִל וּבְנֵי צְרוּיָה אַבְשַׁי וְיוֹאָב וַעֲשָׂהאֵל שְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ | 16 |
And their sisters were Zeruyah, and Abigayil. And the sons of Zeruyah: Abshai, and Joab, and 'Assahel, three.
| וַאֲבִיגַיִל יָלְדָה אֶת־עֲמָשָׂא וַאֲבִי עֲמָשָׂא יֶתֶר הַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִֽי׃ | 17 |
And Abigayil bore 'Amassa: and the father of 'Amassa was Jether the Ishme'elite.
| וְכָלֵב בֶּן־חֶצְרוֹן הוֹלִיד אֶת־עֲזוּבָה אִשָּׁה וְאֶת־יְרִיעוֹת וְאֵלֶּה בָנֶיהָ יֵשֶׁר וְשׁוֹבָב וְאַרְדּֽוֹן׃ | 18 |
And Caleb the son of Chezron begat [children] of 'Azubah his wife, and of Jeri'oth; and these are her sons: Jesher, and Shobab, and Ardon.
| וַתָּמׇת עֲזוּבָה וַיִּֽקַּֽח־לוֹ כָלֵב אֶת־אֶפְרָת וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת־חֽוּר׃ | 19 |
And 'Azubah died, when Caleb took unto himself Ephrath, who bore unto him Chur.
| וְחוּר הוֹלִיד אֶת־אוּרִי וְאוּרִי הוֹלִיד אֶת־בְּצַלְאֵֽל׃ | 20 |
And Chur begat Uri, and Uri begat Bezalel.
| וְאַחַר בָּא חֶצְרוֹן אֶל־בַּת־מָכִיר אֲבִי גִלְעָד וְהוּא לְקָחָהּ וְהוּא בֶּן־שִׁשִּׁים שָׁנָה וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת־שְׂגֽוּב׃ | 21 |
And afterward came Chezron to the daughter of Machir the father of Gil'ad, and he took her [for wife] when he was sixty years old: and she bore unto him Segub.
| וּשְׂגוּב הוֹלִיד אֶת־יָאִיר וַיְהִי־לוֹ עֶשְׂרִים וְשָׁלוֹשׁ עָרִים בְּאֶרֶץ הַגִּלְעָֽד׃ | 22 |
And Segub begat Jair, who had three and twenty cities in the land of Gil'ad.
| וַיִּקַּח גְּשֽׁוּר־וַאֲרָם אֶת־חַוֺּת יָאִיר מֵאִתָּם אֶת־קְנָת וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֶיהָ שִׁשִּׁים עִיר כׇּל־אֵלֶּה בְּנֵי מָכִיר אֲבִי־גִלְעָֽד׃ | 23 |
But Geshur and Aram took the small towns of Jair from them, with Kenath, and the villages thereof, even sixty cities. All these [belonged to] the sons of Machir the father of Gil'ad.
| וְאַחַר מוֹת־חֶצְרוֹן בְּכָלֵב אֶפְרָתָה וְאֵשֶׁת חֶצְרוֹן אֲבִיָּה וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת־אַשְׁחוּר אֲבִי תְקֽוֹעַ׃ | 24 |
And after Chezron was dead in Calebephratah, then bore Chezron's wife Abiyah unto him Ashchur the father of Thekoa'.
| וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵֽי־יְרַחְמְאֵל בְּכוֹר חֶצְרוֹן הַבְּכוֹר ׀ רָם וּבוּנָה וָאֹרֶן וָאֹצֶם אֲחִיָּֽה׃ | 25 |
And the sons of Jerachmeel the first-born of Chezron were, Ram the first-born, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem, and Achiyah.
| וַתְּהִי אִשָּׁה אַחֶרֶת לִֽירַחְמְאֵל וּשְׁמָהּ עֲטָרָה הִיא אֵם אוֹנָֽם׃ | 26 |
Yerachmeel had also another wife, whose name was 'Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.
| וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי־רָם בְּכוֹר יְרַחְמְאֵל מַעַץ וְיָמִין וָעֵֽקֶר׃ | 27 |
And the sons of Ram the first-born of Jerachmeel were, Ma'az, and Jamin, and 'Eker.
| וַיִּהְיוּ בְנֵי־אוֹנָם שַׁמַּי וְיָדָע וּבְנֵי שַׁמַּי נָדָב וַאֲבִישֽׁוּר׃ | 28 |
And the sons of Onam were, Shammai, and Jada'. And the sons of Shammai: Nadab, and Abishur.
| וְשֵׁם אֵשֶׁת אֲבִישׁוּר אֲבִיהָיִל וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת־אַחְבָּן וְאֶת־מוֹלִֽיד׃ | 29 |
And the name of the wife of Abishur was Abichayil, and she bore unto him Achban, and Molid.
| וּבְנֵי נָדָב סֶלֶד וְאַפָּיִם וַיָּמׇת סֶלֶד לֹא בָנִֽים׃ | 30 |
And the sons of Nadab: Seled, and Appayim; and Seled died without children.
| וּבְנֵי אַפַּיִם יִשְׁעִי וּבְנֵי יִשְׁעִי שֵׁשָׁן וּבְנֵי שֵׁשָׁן אַחְלָֽי׃ | 31 |
And the sons of Appayim: Yish'i. And the sons of Yish'i: Sheshan. And the sons of Sheshan: Achlai.
| וּבְנֵי יָדָע אֲחִי שַׁמַּי יֶתֶר וְיוֹנָתָן וַיָּמׇת יֶתֶר לֹא בָנִֽים׃ | 32 |
And the sons of Jada' the brother of Shammai: Jether, and Jonathan; and Jether died without children.
| וּבְנֵי יוֹנָתָן פֶּלֶת וְזָזָא אֵלֶּה הָיוּ בְּנֵי יְרַחְמְאֵֽל׃ | 33 |
And the sons of Jonathan: Peleth, and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerachmeel.
| וְלֹא־הָיָה לְשֵׁשָׁן בָּנִים כִּי אִם־בָּנוֹת וּלְשֵׁשָׁן עֶבֶד מִצְרִי וּשְׁמוֹ יַרְחָֽע׃ | 34 |
Now Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. And Sheshan had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Jarcha'.
| וַיִּתֵּן שֵׁשָׁן אֶת־בִּתּוֹ לְיַרְחָע עַבְדּוֹ לְאִשָּׁה וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ אֶת־עַתָּֽי׃ | 35 |
And Sheshan gave his daughter unto Jarcha' his servant for wife: and she bore unto him 'Attai.
| וְעַתַּי הֹלִיד אֶת־נָתָן וְנָתָן הוֹלִיד אֶת־זָבָֽד׃ | 36 |
And 'Attai begat Nathan, and Nathan begat Zabad.
| וְזָבָד הוֹלִיד אֶת־אֶפְלָל וְאֶפְלָל הוֹלִיד אֶת־עוֹבֵֽד׃ | 37 |
And Zabad begat Ephlal, and Ephlal begat 'Obed.
| וְעוֹבֵד הוֹלִיד אֶת־יֵהוּא וְיֵהוּא הֹלִיד אֶת־עֲזַרְיָֽה׃ | 38 |
And 'Obed begat Jehu, and Jehu begat 'Azaryah,
| וַֽעֲזַרְיָה הֹלִיד אֶת־חָלֶץ וְחֶלֶץ הֹלִיד אֶת־אֶלְעָשָֽׂה׃ | 39 |
And 'Azaryah begat Chelez, and Chelez begat El'assah,
| וְאֶלְעָשָׂה הֹלִיד אֶת־סִֽסְמָי וְסִסְמַי הֹלִיד אֶת־שַׁלּֽוּם׃ | 40 |
And El'assah begat Sissmai, and Sissmai begat Shallum.
| וְשַׁלּוּם הוֹלִיד אֶת־יְקַמְיָה וִיקַמְיָה הֹלִיד אֶת־אֱלִישָׁמָֽע׃ | 41 |
And Shallum begat Jekamyah, and Jekamyah begat Elishama'.
| וּבְנֵי כָלֵב אֲחִי יְרַחְמְאֵל מֵישָׁע בְּכֹרוֹ הוּא אֲבִי־זִיף וּבְנֵי מָרֵשָׁה אֲבִי חֶבְרֽוֹן׃ | 42 |
Now the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerachmeel were, Mesha', his first-born, who was the father of Ziph, and of the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron.
| וּבְנֵי חֶבְרוֹן קֹרַח וְתַפֻּחַ וְרֶקֶם וָשָֽׁמַע׃ | 43 |
And the sons of Hebron: Korach, and Thappuach, and Rekem, and Shema'.
| וְשֶׁמַע הוֹלִיד אֶת־רַחַם אֲבִי יׇרְקְעָם וְרֶקֶם הוֹלִיד אֶת־שַׁמָּֽי׃ | 44 |
And Shema' begat Racham, the father of Jorke'am; and Rekem begat Shammai.
| וּבֶן־שַׁמַּי מָעוֹן וּמָעוֹן אֲבִי בֵֽית־צֽוּר׃ | 45 |
And the son of Shammai was Ma'on; and Ma'on was the father of Beth-zur.
| וְעֵיפָה פִּילֶגֶשׁ כָּלֵב יָלְדָה אֶת־חָרָן וְאֶת־מוֹצָא וְאֶת־גָּזֵז וְחָרָן הֹלִיד אֶת־גָּזֵֽז׃ | 46 |
And 'Ephah, Caleb's concubine, bore Charan, and Moza, and Gazez; and Charan begat Gazez.
| וּבְנֵי יׇהְדָּי רֶגֶם וְיוֹתָם וְגֵישָׁן וָפֶלֶט וְעֵיפָה וָשָֽׁעַף׃ | 47 |
And the sons of Jahdai: Regem, and Jotham, and Gesham, and Pelet, and 'Ephah, and Sha'aph.
| פִּילֶגֶשׁ כָּלֵב מַעֲכָה יָלַד שֶׁבֶר וְאֶֽת־תִּרְחֲנָֽה׃ | 48 |
Ma'achah, Caleb's concubine, bore Sheber, and Tirchanah.
| וַתֵּלֶד שַׁעַף אֲבִי מַדְמַנָּה אֶת־שְׁוָא אֲבִי מַכְבֵּנָה וַאֲבִי גִבְעָא וּבַת־כָּלֵב עַכְסָֽה׃ | 49 |
She bore also! Sha'aph the father of Madmannah. Sheva the father of Machbena, and the father of Gib'a: ! and the daughter of Caleb was 'Achsah.
| אֵלֶּה הָיוּ בְּנֵי כָלֵב בֶּן־חוּר בְּכוֹר אֶפְרָתָה שׁוֹבָל אֲבִי קִרְיַת יְעָרִֽים׃ | 50 |
These were the sons of Caleb: Benchur, the first-born of Ephratah, Shobal the father of Kiryath-ye'arim,
| שַׂלְמָא אֲבִי בֵֽית־לָחֶם חָרֵף אֲבִי בֵית־גָּדֵֽר׃ | 51 |
Salma the father of Beth-lechem, Chareph the father of Beth-gader.
| וַיִּהְיוּ בָנִים לְשׁוֹבָל אֲבִי קִרְיַת יְעָרִים הָרֹאֶה חֲצִי הַמְּנֻחֽוֹת׃ | 52 |
And Shobal the father of Kir'yath-ye'arim had sons: Haroeh, and Chazi-hammenuchoth.
| וּמִשְׁפְּחוֹת קִרְיַת יְעָרִים הַיִּתְרִי וְהַפּוּתִי וְהַשֻּׁמָתִי וְהַמִּשְׁרָעִי מֵאֵלֶּה יָֽצְאוּ הַצָּרְעָתִי וְהָאֶשְׁתָּאֻֽלִֽי׃ | 53 |
And the families of Kir'yath-ye'arim are the Yithrites, and the Puthites, and the Shumathites, and the Mishra'ites: from these came the Zor'athites, and the Eshthaulites.
| בְּנֵי שַׂלְמָא בֵּית לֶחֶם וּנְטוֹפָתִי עַטְרוֹת בֵּית יוֹאָב וַחֲצִי הַמָּנַחְתִּי הַצׇּרְעִֽי׃ | 54 |
The sons of Salma: Beth-lechem, and the Netophathites, 'Ataroth of the house of Joab, and Chazi-hammanachthi, the Zor'ite.
| וּמִשְׁפְּחוֹת סֹֽפְרִים (ישבו) [יֹשְׁבֵי] יַעְבֵּץ תִּרְעָתִים שִׁמְעָתִים שׂוּכָתִים הֵמָּה הַקִּינִים הַבָּאִים מֵחַמַּת אֲבִי בֵית־רֵכָֽב׃ | 55 |
And the families of the scribes who dwelt at Jabez: the Thirathites, the Shim'athites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came from Chammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
