תהילים 140

1 למנצח מזמור לדוד ב חלצני יהוה מאדם רע מאיש חמסים תנצרני

To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. Rescue me, O Yahweh, from the men of mischief, From the men of violence, wilt thou preserve me:

2 אשר חשבו רעות בלב כל-יום יגורו מלחמות

Who have devised mischiefs in their [heart], Every day, do they stir up wars:

3 שננו לשונם כמו-נחש חמת עכשוב--תחת שפתימו סלה

They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent, —The poison of the asp, is under their lips. (Selah)

4 שמרני יהוה מידי רשע-- מאיש חמסים תנצרני אשר חשבו לדחות פעמי

Keep me, O Yahweh, from the hands of the lawless one, From the man of violence, wilt thou preserve me, —who have devised, to thrust at my steps:

5 טמנו גאים פח לי-- וחבלים פרשו רשת ליד-מעגל מקשים שתו-לי סלה

The proud have hidden a snare for me, and, cords, have they spread as a net beside the track, Snares, have they set for me. (Selah)

6 אמרתי ליהוה אלי אתה האזינה יהוה קול תחנוני

I have said unto Yahweh, My GOD, thou art! Give ear, O Yahweh, unto the voice of my supplications.

7 יהוה אדני עז ישועתי סכתה לראשי ביום נשק

O Yahweh, My Lord, my saving strength, thou hast screened my head in the day of battle.

8 אל-תתן יהוה מאויי רשע זממו אל-תפק ירומו סלה

Do not grant, O Yahweh, the desires of the lawless one, his device, do not promote, They would exalt themselves. (Selah)

9 ראש מסבי-- עמל שפתימו יכסומו (יכסימו)

As for the head of them who surround me, Let the mischief of their lips cover them:

10 ימיטו (ימוטו) עליהם גחלים באש יפלם במהמרות בל-יקומו

May there be dropped on them live coals, —Into the fire, may they be let fall, into watery pits [from which] they shall not rise.

11 איש לשון בל-יכון בארץ איש-חמס רע--יצודנו למדחפת

As for the slanderer, let him not be established in the earth, —As for the man of wrongful violence, let misfortune hunt him with thrust upon thrust.

12 ידעת (ידעתי)--כי-יעשה יהוה דין עני משפט אבינים

I know that Yahweh will execute, the right of the oppressed one, the vindication of the needy.

13 אך צדיקים יודו לשמך ישבו ישרים את-פניך

Surely, the righteous, shall give thanks to thy Name, the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
